Rawalpindi police have arrested three suspects after a disturbing video showing a man forcibly cutting a young girl’s hair went viral on Tuesday.
The footage shows a man standing over the girl with scissors while others watch in the background.
Soon after, another video surfaced, reportedly featuring the victim. She claimed the incident took place one and a half months ago in Rawalpindi’s Christian Colony.
She said four men beat her, threatened her and cut her hair off forcibly.
Rawalpindi police confirmed that the incident took place and referred to the victim as a girl. The department said the case happened around six weeks ago in Rawalpindi and Islamabad but no one reported it at the time.
City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani took notice of the situation. Police reached out to the girl and began legal proceedings at the Naseerabad Police Station on her request. Officers arrested three suspects after recording her statement.
The Rawalpindi CPO vowed strict action, saying the police would not tolerate crimes involving violence, coercion or exploitation of women.
He said officers would arrest every person involved and bring them to justice.

Islamabad police also released a statement last night. They said the incident occurred in Rawalpindi, not in Islamabad’s Lohi Bher area as some reports claimed.
Islamabad police traced the girl, recorded her statement and detained several suspects before handing them over to Rawalpindi authorities.
