England captain Ben Stokes has been sidelined temporarily after suffering a hamstring injury.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that Stokes sustained the injury on the third day of the final Test against New Zealand in Hamilton.
Stokes has ruptured his left hamstring, which will be operated on in January. He will then be re-evaluated after three months.
Stokes bowled 24 overs in New Zealand’s first innings before suffering the injury during the second ball of the 13th over in the second innings.
