A horrifying incident unfolded in Dera Ismail Khan’s Basti Darkhana Wali area on Monday, when a woman killed her two young children using a sharp-edged weapon.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Zainab Bibi from Swat, attacked her one-and-a-half-month-old son and two-year-old daughter with a knife.
After the attack, she attempted to flee the area, but police reached the location in time and arrested her.
During initial questioning, the woman told investigators that she did not remember how the incident happened.
The children’s father said his wife called him home, where he saw both children laying in a pool of blood upon arrival.
The remains were taken to a hospital for autopsy after police retrieved the murder weapon from the scene. A murder case has been filed against the suspect, according to officials, while her mental state seems questionable.
Police also recalled that just last month, a separate tragic incident occurred in Multan’s Basti Malook area, where a man named Waris killed his daughter and her three children. He was later arrested, and the weapon was recovered, though the motive remains unknown.
