  • ‘Jhoot mein bolna nahi chahta, sach mein bol nahi sakta’: Imran Khan avoids confirming his meeting with COAS Bajwa

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan responded to speculation about his meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, as was reported by some journalists recently.

On ARY News’ programme “Sawal Yeh Hai” with Maria Memon, when asked about the meeting, he said, “Jhoot mein bolna nahi chahta, sach mei bol nahi sakta”, (I don’t want to lie and I can’t tell the truth). However, he was of the view that negotiations should be held.

Earlier, there was speculation that Khan had a meeting with COAS last month. The meeting was arranged by President Arif Alvi and was held at the President’s House in Islamabad. Reportedly, Khan and the COAS could not reach an agreement, but Khan toned down his rhetoric pertaining to the establishment after the meeting.

About his recent audio leaks, Khan revealed that the first audio leak between him and his then-principle secretary Azam Khan was a telephonic conversation. According to him, he hasn’t listened to the second audio leak. “I can’t comment on it”, he responded.

However, when asked that in this second audio leak he [Khan] insisted his party members use the word “letter” instead of “cipher”, the PTI Chairman said that there is nothing wrong with it as the general public wouldn’t have been able to understand the word cipher.

About the controversial cipher, Khan said he had not made the cipher public at once because at the time, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting was in progress in the capital and it would have been inappropriate to share the cipher then.

He said that these leaks are a security breach as the secure line Prime Minister’s (PM) Office got leaked.

During the interview, Khan said that he is always ready to be arrested. “These people don’t have democracy and morality in them”, he added.

According to the former PM, when he gets disqualified, the government will hold elections.

He termed his Toshkhana case as “open and shut”. He said he did nothing wrong in the case which is pending against him in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP.)

It is pertinent to mention here that Khan is accused of selling state gifts and failing to disclose their value in his annual tax returns.

Speaking about the upcoming long march, Khan said the date would be announced within a week. He said Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi is an ally of the PTI and he would support the party in its march.

About the departure of former premier Nawaz Sharif to London during the PTI government on medical grounds, Imran Khan commented that when Nawaz Sharif went out of the country, he came to realise that “Everything is possible” in Pakistan.

“Unfortunately our justice system is weak due to which these people are benefitting,” he said in a comment on the cases against his political opponents.

  • Siraj-ul-haq gives deadline for withdrawing transgender Act, says it is more dangerous than atomic bomb

Siraj-ul-haq gives deadline for withdrawing transgender Act, says it is more dangerous than atomic bomb

Siraj-ul- Haq, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), has said that all religious groups will demonstrate at Lahore’s Shuhada Mosque if the government does not withdraw the Transgender Rights Act seriously.

He further said that the Act is more dangerous than the atomic bomb dropped by the United States on Japan in 1945.

The JI leader said that the measures taken in the Act are against the Holy Quran, the Sunnah, and the Pakistani Constitution following a consultative gathering of religious parties in Mansoorah. He described it as being a part of a western agenda and said that all three major parties agreed on the matter.

Siraj claimed that while he was not opposed to transgender people’s rights, he was worried that the contentious act would dismantle the family unit.

A meeting of all religious groups would take place on October 7, according to the JI chief.

He continued by saying that he will discuss the matter with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Sajid Mir, Allama Nasir Abbas, and other religious figures.

The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act of 2018 has come under intense criticism from some sections of society during the past few weeks with two petitions also having been filed in the Federal Shariah Court against the Act.

The act was enacted in the year 2018 to guarantee transgenders equal rights to Education, basic health facilities , issuance of CNICs and passports and giving them a right to vote and contest elections.

‘Raid Bani Gala and you will know where the cipher copy went’: Maryam Nawaz

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar Saturday revealed that Principal Secretary Azam Khan has admitted that he gave the diplomatic cipher to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan — which had been “stolen” from the records of the Prime Minister’s House.

Dar said it was now “established” through the audio leaks that the former Opposition — now the government — was not responsible for any conspiracy, but rather the PTI was. “We will be failing in national duty and oath if we don’t take appropriate action,” he added.

The finance minister said the matter was not something that could be ignored, adding that “whoever did this is not pardonable”.

“We will be betraying the Constitution if we don’t take it to the logical conclusion. So the decision is we will take the matter forward in light of the law and Constitution,” he stressed.

Maintaining that Imran Khan was solely responsible for the travesty he said that if we do not take action to bring this matter to its logical conclusion, then it would be another breach of the Constitution.

He further revealed that the cabinet has inspected all aspects in this regard in detail. “The minutes that were created regarding the diplomatic cipher are present; however, the original document is missing,” Dar added.

“This proves that conspiracy was not hatched by the incumbent coalition government instead the PTI was behind this,” he said, adding that a meeting of the National Security Committee has also been held in this regard.

Playing the purported audio leak of the former prime minister, Dar said: “We will betray our constitution if we do not take it to its logical end.

“The mess created in four years could not be cleaned in four to five months; however, our efforts will be concentrated on stopping the destruction, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s team is working to provide relief to the masses,” he concluded.

In Lahore, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz said: “You heard that the cipher went missing from Prime Minister House. I think there should be a raid on Bani Gala from where you will find out where the cipher copy went and what the real minutes, letter, and communique were,” she stated in a press conference.

“Since day one I knew that he [Khan] was lying as he is the biggest liar of this century,” she claimed, adding that this wasn’t just conspiracy but this was also “tampering”.

Accusing the former prime minister of forging sensitive official documents, she said that Khan conspired against the foreign policy of Pakistan.

“PM Shehbaz told me that no country is ready to write a letter to Pakistan because of this fitna Khan [Imran Khan],” Maryam said, adding that other countries are now afraid of communicating with Pakistan.

The PML-N vice president further added that the audio leaks are enough to indict Khan for his wrongdoings.

“You can look at Supreme Court’s verdict, Khan even violated the order of the apex court while leaving his office,” she mentioned, adding that the highest court of the country has given its ruling against the former premier.

“The nation has been held hostage by this evil mind for the last four years,” she asserted.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said the issue would be raised in parliament and expressed the hope that the body would decide to file an Article 6 reference against Imran.

Arrest warrants issued for Imran Khan over threatening remarks against Judge Zeba Chaudhry

Arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan have been issued in Islamabad in a case pertaining to his threatening remarks regarding Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry at an August 20 public rally in Islamabad.

A magistrate of Islamabad’s Margalla Police Station has issued an arrest warrant for PTI Chief Imran Khan.

The FIR includes four sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), including 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 189 (threat of injury to public servant), and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

Khan is facing contempt of court charges for his controversial remarks against Zeba Chaudhary.

Khan submitted an affidavit to IHC in contempt of court case against him, saying he had realised he “Might have crossed a line” in his controversial remarks regarding Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry.

However, it is pertinent to mention that, for the third time now, Khan has avoided tendering an unconditional apology to the court.

The affidavit says: “Imran Khan realised that during these proceedings before the Honourable Court, he might have crossed a red line while making a public speech on August 20, 2022.”

According to the document, it was never his intention “To threaten the honourable judge of the district court and there was no intention behind the statement to take any action other than a legal action.”

He said he wanted to assure the IHC that he was willing to explain and clarify before Judge Chaudhry that “Neither he nor his party seeks/sought any action“ against her and he was willing apologise to her “If she got an impression that the deponent (Imran) had crossed a line”.

Khan assured the IHC that he would “Never do anything in future” that would hurt the dignity of any court and the judiciary, especially the lower judiciary.

‘Willing to apologise’: Khan again avoided unconditional apology for his controversial remarks against female judge

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan submitted an affidavit to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in a contempt of court case against him, saying he had realised he “Might have crossed a line” in his controversial remarks regarding Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry.

However, it is pertinent to mention that, for the third time now, Khan has avoided tendering an unconditional apology to the court.

Khan assured the IHC that he would “Never do anything in future” that would hurt the dignity of any court and the judiciary, especially the lower judiciary.

The next hearing of the case is scheduled for October 3, when IHC will review Khan’s response.

Prior to this, Khan went to the court of Zeba Chaudhry to apologise for his remarks against her at a public rally. She was on leave at the time.

Earlier this month, the high court decided to frame charges against Khan in a contempt of court case registered against him for his controversial remarks about Zeba.

However, after many delays, Khan apologised to the high court, saying, “Mai khaatoon judge se zaati taur pe maafi maangta hoon”, (I personally apologise to the female judge).

Following this, the high court remarked that it would not be appropriate to conduct contempt proceedings against Khan.

In August, Khan addressed a party rally to express solidarity with then-arrested PTI’s Shahbaz Gill and threatened Chaudhry. He said, “Zeba! Be ready, we will take action against you”.

‘Mujhe abhi tak yaqeen nahi araha ke meray betay ne kia keeya’: Shahnawaz’s mother

A local court in Islamabad has extended the interim bail of Sameen Shah, the mother of murder suspect Shah Nawaz, and the wife of renowned political analyst Ayaz Amir till October 3 in the Sarah Inam killing.

While talking to journalist Saqib Bashir outside the court she said, “Mein ne aapne haath se pakar kar Police kay hawale kia use,” (I handed over him to police with my own hands).

“Is se barh kay aek Maa kay lie aur kia imtehan ho skta hai?” (What can be more painful than this for a mother?)

She further said that she had no idea about when they both started fighting as she was in a different room.

“Mujhe abhi tak yaqeen nahi araha kay mere betay ne kia kia”. (I still can’t believe what my son has done), she added.

Earlier, in a petition filed with an Islamabad sessions court she had said that she has no link with the murder. Offering details of the grisly incident, she has stated that her son had sent her a message on Whatsapp to arrange his wife’s rukhsati by speaking to the her father just one night before the crime.

She further said that Shah Nawaz called her on her mobile phone at 9:12 am the following day to inform her about the incident.

“The petitioner asked Shahnawaz to sit in her room and Ayaz … had called the police and within a few minutes, the police had arrived and took custody of Shahnawaz,” she said in the plea.

The petition stated that Sameena then rushed to Shah Nawaz’s room but by the time she got there, her daughter-in-law had passed away.
Sarah’s murder rocked Islamabad last week as news of the crime spread across social media and news networks.
It has been reported that after murdering her, Shahnawaz dumped her body in a bathtub.
