Wasim Akram ends debate, declares Imran Khan Pakistan’s greatest cricketer EVER

Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram has shut down all debates over the country’s greatest player, declaring Imran Khan as the best ever produced by Pakistan.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Akram wrote, “The best ever cricketer produced by Pakistan is one and only skipper Imran Khan and please finish this debate right now.”

Earlier this year, the Sultan of Swing talked about his experience learning from Imran on the Stick To Cricket podcast hosted by Michael Vaughan, Sir Alastair Cook, David Lloyd, and Phil Tufnell. Akram said that whatever he achieved as a cricketer, both on and off the field, was because of Imran’s influence.

“He was the best captain I played under. He gave us confidence, led from the front, and believed in his own ability,” Akram had said.

The 59-year-old added that while people often called him naturally talented, Imran was not gifted in the same way but succeeded through sheer hard work and determination.

“He wasn’t talented. He worked hard. He even changed his bowling action completely, something that takes months, sometimes  never works, but he did it,” Akram said, calling his former skipper “tough but fair.”

Wasim, who made his international debut in 1984 under Imran’s captaincy, credited the skipper for shaping him into one of the finest bowlers in the world. The two later became key figures in Pakistan’s historic 1992 World Cup triumph, a victory that cemented Imran’s name in cricket history.

Over his international career, Imran Khan played 88 Test matches, scoring 3,807 runs at an average of 37.69 with six centuries and 18 fifties, while taking 362 wickets at an exceptional average of 22.81. In 175 One Day Internationals, he amassed 3,709 runs at 33.41 and claimed 182 wickets, with a career-best figure of 6 for 14.

  • Old video of Abrar Ahmed saying he wants to ‘punch Shikhar Dhawan’ goes viral

Old video of Abrar Ahmed saying he wants to ‘punch Shikhar Dhawan’ goes viral

An old video of Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed saying that he would like to box with former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan.

The clip, recorded during the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has now resurfaced online.

In the viral video, the interviewer asks Abrar, “Which player would you want to box with someone who really annoys you?” To this, Abrar confidently replies, “I want to do boxing, and I’d like Shikhar Dhawan to be in front of me.”

The video, though old, has gone viral now, especially since Abrar has recently been in the spotlight after playing in the Asia Cup 2025 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Abrar is no stranger to controversy. His signature celebration, where he nods his head to sarcastically signal the batter to “walk off,” has already triggered plenty of reactions from Indian fans. Adding fuel to the fire, the spinner once posted a photo holding a cup of tea, which many linked to Pakistan’s famous “tea is fantastic” jibe after the 2019 downing of an Indian Air Force jet.

Dhawan, meanwhile, has been in the spotlight for his ongoing verbal jabs with Shahid Afridi and for refusing to play in the World Championship of Legends match against the Pakistani lineup that included Afridi and other former stars.

  • Mohammad Amir finally breaks silence on cricket comeback

Mohammad Amir finally breaks silence on cricket comeback

Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has finally broken his silence over recent speculation about his cricketing future.

In a statement shared on social media, Amir said, “For the past two or three days, I have been hearing that Mohammad Amir is making a comeback and taking back his retirement. No discussion has taken place with me about any comeback or withdrawing retirement, nor do I have any such plan. The decision I made regarding retirement is final.”

He added that while many fans wanted him to return, he believed it was time for Pakistan cricket to move forward. “My fans say that I should come back, but Pakistan cricket also needs to move forward,” he said.

Amir stressed the importance of giving young players consistent opportunities. “There are young players in the team. If the youngsters play consistently, in two or three years a strong team will be formed. I hope the team will be well-prepared for the World Cup. We played the Asia Cup final; now I hope we play the World Cup final and win as well,” he stated.

Speaking about recent reports that former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed might become the next chief selector, Amir said that even if Sarfaraz does not get the top post, including him in the selection committee would still be a positive step. “He has played with the current players and understands them well. Sarfaraz is an honest and straightforward person, and such people can benefit Pakistan cricket,” he said.

The left-arm pacer also emphasized the need to involve more experienced cricketers in cricket administration and player development. “There should be good cricketers running cricket affairs. Many have come and gone, leaving things in a mess. Shoaib, Umar Gul, and Sohail Tanvir should be used in white-ball cricket, they have great expertise. Younis Khan should also be brought into the system; he is not a yes-man. We need to sit together and make decisions for the betterment of Pakistan cricket,” he said.

Mohammad Amir’s comments come after years of back-and-forth regarding his cricketing career.

He first announced his retirement from international cricket in December 2020, citing issues with the team management and claiming he had suffered “mental torture.” In March 2024, he reversed that decision and made himself available for selection ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.

However, after Pakistan’s early exit from the tournament, Amir once again announced his retirement in December 2024.

Turkish shooter of ‘calm guy’ fame wins gold at European Air Weapons League

Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec, who became a viral sensation during Paris 2024 Olympics for his calm and casual shooting style, is back in the spotlight after leading Turkey to a clean sweep of gold medals at the European Champions League of Air Weapons.

Dikec, known for his relaxed approach and lack of protection gear, teamed up with Mustafa Inan to beat Germany’s Christian Reitz and Paul Frohlich 2-0 in the men’s team final in Istanbul.

“Representing my country in front of a home crowd, with the tournament being held in Istanbul for the first time, is a great honour,” Dikec told a foreign media outlet.

“Winning gold here feels amazing, and it’s perfect preparation for the World Championships in Cairo this November,” he said.

Turkey also dominated the women’s events. Damla Kose and Elif Berfin Altun claimed gold in the 10m air rifle team event after beating Norway, while Esra Bozabali and Sevval Ilayda Tarhan triumphed over France in the 10m air pistol team final. With these victories, Turkey captures gold in all three team events.

Dikec first gained global attention at the Paris Olympics where he won silver in the mixed 10m air pistol event. Competing in a loose white T-shirt, track pants and yellow earplugs, he stunned audiences with his effortless precision and unbothered attitude. His minimalist style, with one hand in his pocket and no high-tech equipment, turned him into an online icon and a symbol of confidence under pressure.

The silver medal was Turkey’s first-ever Olympic medal in shooting and made Dikec the oldest Olympic medallist in the country’s history.

  • Asma Abbas had very unorthodox advice for son on his honeymoon

Asma Abbas had very unorthodox advice for son on his honeymoon

Veteran Pakistani actress Asma Abbas recently shared a lighthearted and personal story during her appearance on a morning show, revealing the unusual yet humorous advice she gave to her youngest son before his honeymoon in Thailand.

Speaking candidly, Asma Abbas said, “When my younger son was going to Thailand for his honeymoon, I told him to take his wife to a club. I said, ‘It’s dark there and no one knows you!’”

She laughed as she recalled how her son burst out laughing at her unexpected suggestion.

The actress also opened up about her approach to parenting and matchmaking. She stated that she was always aware of her sons’ personalities and habits, which made it easier for her to help find suitable life partners for them.

“I knew my sons well, so choosing the right daughters-in-law wasn’t difficult. I considered their preferences as well as my own when finalizing their marriages,” she explained.

Asma revealed that while her elder sons were more open and often on the phone with girls before marriage, her youngest seemed more reserved until she found out he had been secretly dating someone for six months. “He turned out to be even smarter than his older brothers,” she said with a smile.

She further shared that although the girl came from a different community and her family was initially reluctant due to caste considerations, they eventually agreed to the marriage.

Describing her younger daughter-in-law, Asma Abbas said, “She was simple and well-mannered. She didn’t even know how to wear a saree or dress fashionably. I personally taught her how to carry herself, what to wear, and how to style it.”

Asma recently revealed that she has a strong passion for dressing up and takes great pride in her appearance, so much so that she has never repeated an outfit at any public appearance.

Asma, in a previous interview, shed light on the lack of romantic representation for older women in Pakistani television dramas and questioned the stereotypes surrounding married life in desi culture.

“We’re very chill. Why can’t we have love stories,” she asked rhetorically. “Bushra Aapa got married, Samina Aapa got married… why can’t we be romantic? Have we been reduced to just arranging tea,” she said, referring to veteran actresses Bushra Ansari and Samina Ahmed, both of whom got remarried at a later age in life.

The actress expressed frustration over how television rarely shows mature couples engaging in lighthearted or romantic conversations.

  • Saheefa Jabbar slams Tamasha contestants for ‘damaging their own reputation’

Saheefa Jabbar slams Tamasha contestants for ‘damaging their own reputation’

Model and actress Saheefa Jabbar Khattak has spoken out against the behavior of contestants on reality show Tamasha Season 4, expressing concern over the impact their actions may have on their personal reputations.

In a strongly-worded statement on her Instagram story, Saheefa criticized the lack of restraint and self-awareness among some participants, urging them to think before they speak or act on national television.

The ongoing fourth season of the Pakistani reality show Tamasha has courtes controversy, not only for the drama within the house but also because its moral and social implications have come under scrutiny. Among the critics, Saheefa Jabbar has voiced her disappointment after watching the show for the first time.

In her statement, Saheefa said, “I’ve never followed shows like Bigg Boss, Tamasha, or Love Island in my life. But this is the first time I’m watching Tamasha 4. I can’t speak for the previous seasons, but for now, one person who stands out positively is Saif. He hasn’t crossed any lines, seems like a good judge of character, remains loyal to his friends, and always speaks the truth.”

She further emphasized the importance of self-respect and accountability, adding, “He repeatedly tells others not to say things that they would regret watching later. We are still embarrassed by some of our own past recorded interviews. These people who go on Tamasha and create such spectacles don’t realize how much they are damaging their own image. For God’s sake, think before you speak on social media or create video content.”

The criticism comes at a time when Tamasha Season 4 is already under scrutiny, despite hosting its largest prize offering to date. In the premiere episode, host Adnan Siddiqui announced that the winner would take home Rs. 50 lakh, which is the highest in the show’s history.

Unlike its earlier seasons, which featured well-known celebrities, Tamasha 4 has brought in lesser-known individuals from various creative fields, including aspiring actors, singers, and performers. Many of these contestants have yet to make a name for themselves in the industry.

This is not the first time that the actress has slammed the show. Previously, the actress addressed petty topics in the show like “fights over bread, curry, and potatoes; foul language; and everyone just trying to put each other down, only for screen time.”

  • Only cricket-related questions: ICC on alert ahead of Pakistan-India clash at Women’s World Cup

Only cricket-related questions: ICC on alert ahead of Pakistan-India clash at Women’s World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken strict measures to avoid any controversy during the much-anticipated Pakistan-India match at the Women’s World Cup.

After tensions between the two nations during the Asia Cup earlier this year, the ICC has reportedly issued clear media guidelines to keep politics out of the tournament.

When Pakistan captain Fatima Sana began her pre-match press conference, journalists attempted to ask about the ongoing political situation between the two countries.

However, ICC media manager Sepo Qazi immediately intervened, reminding reporters that only cricket-related questions would be allowed. She also made it clear that there would be no questions about handshakes or political matters.

Once the briefing resumed, Fatima Sana focused entirely on cricket, saying her team was fully prepared for the high-pressure game.

“We have prepared well for the match against India. Our focus is only on cricket, and we are here to play the game,” she said. “We can’t reveal our playing XI yet, but the team is ready.”

Responding to Pakistan’s earlier loss to Bangladesh, Fatima stressed that the team was still confident. “We are not out of the event. Everyone is motivated, and we will make a comeback,” she added.

Fatima also reflected on how team dynamics have changed over time. “Earlier, there used to be more interaction between teams, which felt good, but now the focus is purely on cricket. We know what’s happening outside, but our attention remains on the game,” she said.

The Pakistan skipper expressed gratitude for the support of senior players, adding, “I have received many honours at a young age, and the senior players in the team always support me. We play as one unit.”

Pakistan Women will face India on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

  • Humayun Saeed once took a daring adventure to catch a glimpse of a girl

Humayun Saeed once took a daring adventure to catch a glimpse of a girl

Pakistani actor and producer Humayun Saeed has shared a string of amusing, emotional, and surprising stories from his childhood and early adult life, tales that reveal a lesser-known, more relatable side of the superstar.

Humayun recently appeared on the comedy talk show Hasna Mana Hai, where he recalled pretending to tutor his cousin at his uncle’s house, only to spend time standing on the rooftop for an entirely different reason. “I would make an excuse to go teach my cousin, but right after the lesson, I’d go up to the rooftop,” he laughed. Eventually, neighbors and even his uncle caught on. “My uncle told my father, ‘He comes here to teach, but he’s doing something else!’” he joked.

Things took a serious turn when his father confronted him about the situation. “He asked me directly, and I lied. But then I got such a slap that I ran down from the seventh floor, and I could still hear the echo of that slap,” he said. “My father didn’t like lies, he wanted me to tell the truth.”

In a past interview, Humayun shared how short-tempered his father was and that he never wanted to become like him because of his intense temper.

In another humorous yet touching anecdote, Saeed described how he once followed the same girl he had seen at a wedding, and she was older than him, whom he had fallen for at first sight. “I found out she was traveling to Hyderabad with her family, so I went to the station just to see her face again,” he said. But things didn’t end there. “When the train started moving, I felt like I hadn’t seen her enough… so I jumped onto the train at the last minute, several coaches behind.”

His mission wasn’t as smooth as he had imagined. “There was a wall blocking the way forward inside the train. I thought, ‘Now I’ll go all the way to Hyderabad and she won’t even know.’” Eventually, when the train slowed near Rohri, he made a daring leap from one coach to another, drawing attention from passengers who thought he had fallen. “People started reaching out to help me, thinking I had slipped, but I made it on board and finally walked past her. She looked so shocked to see me!” he laughed.

Saeed also shared that his first profession was teaching. “At 16 or 17, I used to give tuitions to primary school kids. I taught all subjects, mostly math, and used to go to four or five places a day to teach,” he revealed.

When asked whether he’s more like his serious characters, such as the one in Main Manto nahi Hoon, or romantic ones like in Love Guru, Saeed responded: “I’m a mix of both, a bit of Manto, a bit of Love Guru.”

One of the most entertaining stories came when he recalled his 1992 trip to India. While traveling by train, he asked the staff to play a cassette he had brought along, which was a compilation of songs by the iconic band Vital Signs. “I loved their songs, especially back then. But the last track on one side was Dil Dil Pakistan,” he chuckled.

That moment quickly turned tense. “The whole train echoed with Dil Dil Pakistan, and I didn’t have a visa for Delhi. I and my friend were pretending to be Indian citizens. When the cassette finished and that song played, a crew member came around asking whose tape it was. I just sat quietly and prayed they wouldn’t find out it was mine.”

On the work front, he revealed that Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 3 will be shot in Vegas, America.
