The sixth review was scheduled for January 12, 2022, and later January 28, but was postponed twice on Pakistan’s request, to attain more time for implementing IMF conditions.
In order to meet another condition of the IMF, the government had successfully managed to get the State Bank of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2021, cleared from the Upper House of Parliament — which was the last stumbling block in reviving the stalled programme.

The father-son duo of Shahroz Sabzwari and Behroze Sabzwari appeared together on Nida Yasir’s morning show.
On being asked by the host that who amongst the two helps their wife while she’s doing the house chores, Behroze was quick to add that, “Zanana kaam koi hai hi nahi humaray pass. (We don’t take any feminine work).”
He added, “Hum haath hila dete hain, haath btatay nahi.”
When Nida asked if the Wafa Bemol star gets angry about cleanliness at home, he answered that that’s his wife’s department to take care of.
Shahroz mentioned, “Me to nahi (I don’t).”
He later added that however, if the women of their home ask them for help, they’ll do it.
Later when Nida asked that who amongst the two is a more expressive husband, Behroze mentioned that he doesn’t believe in being expressive in public and finds expressive couples to be fake.
Whereas the Nand star added that he doesn’t like public displays of affection and he can’t do it. He also mentioned that it is indeed ‘fake love’ that couples express in public.
The Teri Rah Mein star added that he finds it ‘weird’ when couples sit very close to each other and feels that it is just a pretense. He said he can even challenge this.
“I can challenge, its fake, yeh 2 number miyan-biwi hain, isko 2 numbri kehte hai.”
“Dikhaway ke liye kartay hain.”
On the work front, the duo is currently featuring in ARY’s Teri Rah Mein.
England’s opening batter Alex Hales has criticised the English Cricket Board for cancelling their scheduled tour to Pakistan last year, saying that the cancellation made zero sense to him.
Hales, who last represented England in 2019, is currently playing for Islamabad United in the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He said that Pakistan helped England in challenging times during the pandemic but the ECB did not reciprocate.
“Pakistan came to England during Covid, helped out the ECB massively, so for them to cancel that tour made absolutely zero sense to me whatsoever,” he said.
Hales, who has toured the country numerous times, said ‘it’s a great place to come and play cricket’, and also lauded the hospitality and passion of the people.
“I have been here four or five times now and get looked after really well,” he said.
“Every time we come here, the people are very hospitable and the cricket is always really good. The fans here are crazy for it. So it’s a great place to come and play cricket,” he added.
It is should be noted that both England’s men’s and women’s sides were set to play two T20Is, with the latter staying on for three ODIs in September 2021.
The ECB cited protecting ‘the mental and physical well-being’ of its players and staff as well as “increasing concerns about travelling to the region” as reasons for opting out in a statement explaining the cancellation.
Earlier, it was announced that England will play two additional Twenty20s during their tour to Pakistan this year. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Chief Executive Tom Harrison promised in his tour to Pakistan.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari took a jibe at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), saying that if they have [PML-N] the support of 34 members of the National Assembly (NA) from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), then they should bring a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister (PM) Imran khan.
Previously, PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had claimed that he knows “22 members of the NA who don’t want to remain part of the incumbent government anymore and PTI would lose majority in Lower House if those 22 people step aside.”
Bilawal said his party “always” acts for the betterment of the Parliament and democracy in the country, saying that the party would opt for a no-confidence motion against PM Khan and not besiege the Parliament.
Further, the Chairperson said he believes that an extreme step from political parties against the government could lead to a crisis in Pakistan. “In our agreement with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a no-confidence motion was the last option.”
“We will not hold prolonged sit-ins and attack the institutions; we will conduct political business in the Parliament. If we wish to remove the government, then we will do it in line with the Constitution.”
Talking about the party’s relation with the establishment, Bilawal said: “We have never been interested in forging relations with the establishment, and we never will be,” adding that relations with the establishment are based on media speculation.
PPP is set for a long march from Karachi to Islamabad on February 27 while PDM had announced its March on Pakistan Day.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial after being sworn in as the 28th Chief Justice of Pakistan, in an oath-taking ceremony at the Presidential Palace, made his first appearance in a courtroom as the CJP and conversed with lawyers.
“We need to lighten the burden of pending cases. Lawyers should come prepared and avoid seeking extensions,” he said.
The lawyers welcomed and congratulated the newly appointed top judge.
At this, Justice Bandial thanked them and said it was a pleasure for him to be with them.
A day earlier, Justice Bandial while speaking at a full-court reference held in honour of the outgoing chief justice, criticised mainstream and social media alike for resorting to attacking judges rather than criticising their judgements.
“The differences in judges’ opinions in matters of law arise from our individual perceptions and this diversity brings richness to our understanding,” said Justice Bandial.
Justice Bandial will continue as the chief justice till his retirement on September 18, 2023.
Pakistan’s right-arm fast bowler Hassan Ali has recently opened up about Matthew Wade’s drop catch in the T20 World Cup. The pacer said that he cried after dropping that catch.
In an interview, Hassan revealed that he cried after that incident and so did Shaheen following the dropped catch.
“After the match, I was crying and so was Shaheen, it was an extremely sad moment,” said Hassan.
Hassan also revealed that he ‘wasn’t able to sleep for days’, terming it as the toughest phase of his career.
“It was a tough moment of my career and it was quite difficult for me to forget. I haven’t revealed this to anyone until now but I didn’t sleep for two days, my wife was with me and she was tense as I was not sleeping,” he said.
“Shoaib bhai came to me and told me that you are a tiger and that I shouldn’t fall. In addition to that, I also received a lot of support on social media which helped me ease through the pain,” he said.
He went on to say that he was gutted following that costly dropped catch but he decided to move on while travelling to Bangladesh briefly after Pakistan’s exit from the mega event.
“I was quiet and sitting at the side as the dropped catch was appearing in my mind continuously but while travelling to Bangladesh I told myself that I should move on,” he said.
Hassan also added that the 27-year-old pacer does not take the matches lightly and always tries to perform for Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention here, following that dropped catch from Hassan, Wade smashed three consecutive sixes to Shaheen and powered his side to the victory which also booked a final berth for the Kangaroos.
