    ‘We Muslims dare you’: Zoya Nasir lashes out at ‘Sooryavanshi’ for using Islamaphobic content

    Pakistani actor Zoya Nasir has schooled Indian movie makers for the ‘Islamaphobic’ elements in Bollywood’s ‘Sooryavanshi’.

    Taking to Instagram stories, the Zebaish actor said: “Good and bad people exist everywhere in the world so do the forceful religious conversions. It’s repulsive to see the hot shots of Bollywood just decided to roll it in casually in what seemed to be a light hearted comedy movie, not considering the ramifications or how it may inspire/encourage the extremist Modi followers to do to the Indian Muslims.”

    The actor further said: “Enjoy your 100 crore club with a good conscious boys. We Muslims dare you.”

    Starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead, the also features Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn. The film has already raked in over INR 160 crores at the box office.

    Earlier, Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi expressed his disappointment on the same movie.

    TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi released

    Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Saad Rizvi has been released, party spokesperson Mufti Abid said on Thursday.

    A high-level meeting under Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat could not reach a consensus on the release of Hafiz Saad Rizvi on Wednesday, reports Dawn.

    The meeting linked Rizvi’s release with the decision of the Federal Review Board, which had already been approached by the provincial government seeking withdrawal of its application regarding his detention.

    The local authorities have been directed to cooperate with the TLP in observing the first death anniversary of the outfit’s founder, Allama Khadim Rizvi.

    Last week the government removed Saad Hussain Rizvi’s name from the Fourth Schedule — a list of proscribed individuals who are suspected of terrorism or sectarianism under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), 1997.

    The Punjab Home Department issued a statement: “The name of Hafiz Mohammad Saad, being Ameer of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan, a proscribed organisation, was listed in the 4th Schedule of Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, under Section 11-E on the recommendations of District Intelligence Committee, Lahore.”

    Rizvi was taken into custody in April shortly after the federal government declared the TLP a proscribed organisation under anti-terrorism laws and launched a broad crackdown against it.

    Director-General (DG) of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Faiz Hameed paid farewell visits to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, President Dr Arif Alvi, and Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Quershi.

    Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed will serve as DG ISI till November 19 and will then take charge as Peshawar Corps Commander.

    After several meetings and consultations between country administrations [government and army], PM Imran Khan had issued a notification on October 26 for the appointment of Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum as the new DG ISI who will take charge on November 20.

    Earlier today, Lt Gen Hameed and President Alvi met at the President House on Wednesday. The president appreciated the efforts and services of Lt Gen Hameed as DG ISI for the country’s security and expressed his best wishes for him on his appointment as Peshawar Corps Commander, reports Geo News.

    Lt General Faiz Hameed had a meeting with PM Imran Khan. PM Khan wished him well.

    Lt Gen briefly met FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Qureshi expressed his best wishes on his new appointment.

    School teacher arrested for allegedly raping seven-year-old student in Rawalpindi

    The Rawalpindi police have arrested a school teacher for allegedly raping a seven-year-old student, reports Tahir Naseer for Dawn.

    Police spokesperson Sajjadul Hassan told Dawn that the suspect was taken into custody on Wednesday night.

    The case was registered at Saddar Wah Cantt police station on the complaint of the victim’s mother.

    According to the first information report (FIR) registered on November 16, the mother said her daughter, A*, aged six or seven, was subjected to rape when she was at school.

    Upon returning home, the girl told me while crying that a male teacher — whose name she did not know — at her school had sexually assaulted her,” the FIR quoted the mother.

    The complainant said she took her daughter to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for a medical examination but was told by the hospital staff to come back with the police.

    “I request that justice be provided to my daughter by initiating legal proceedings against the school teacher,” the mother requested in the FIR.

    Potohar Division Superintendent of Police Tasawar Iqbal said a “zero-tolerance policy” on violence, abuse and harassment against women and children was being ensured.

    Preity married Gene in February 2016 and moved to Los Angeles. Earlier, Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Ekta Kapoor and Aamir Khan, among other celebrities, chose surrogacy to have children.

    Actor and Morning show host Nida Yasir is being trolled by Twitterati for inviting pairs of mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law for the two to face off in front of an audience.

    A clip from the show doing the rounds on social media follows a mother-in-law complaining about how she had demanded for an educated daughter-in-law who can do domestic chores, emphasizing that her daughter-in-law has no interest in looking after domestic affairs. 

    The clip was shared by a host and social media influencer Kanwal Ahmed on Twitter, “Nida Yasir just topped her own problematic standards on this show where she invited saas bahus to complain about each other. Like here, a saas claims she hired a marriage bureau to find her a ‘perfect’ bahu who is educated but must stay home, only to discover she’s ‘phuar’. 

    In September 2020, Nida hosted a similar show which received flak.

    Earlier on Ahsan Khan’s show, the Nadaaniyaan star stated, “Interviews with known people usually get very high ratings but as soon as we switch to something more educational or informative the numbers fall. I love the more informative shows and so does the more educated demographic.” 

    Nida recently clapped back at a troll for age-shaming her.

    Pakistan announces team for first T20I against Bangladesh

    Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the 12-member team for the first T20I of the three-match series against Bangladesh.

    Pakistan cricket team flew directly to Dhaka from Dubai for the bilateral series against Bangladesh after extremely good performance at the T20 World Cup 2021. Pakistan will be playing three T20 Internationals and Two Test matches in Bangladesh.

    The first T20I will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium on Friday, November 19. While the second and third T20Is will be played at the same venue on November 20 and 22.

    ‘Pakistan, China, countries of particular concern for violating religious freedom’: US

    United States (US) Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken “designated” Pakistan and China as countries of particular concern (CPC) for violating religious freedom, as per the official website of the US State Department.

    In a statement issued by Washington, Secretary Blinken stated, “I am designating Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, the DPRK, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan as Countries of Particular Concern for having engaged in or tolerated systematic, ongoing and egregious violations of religious freedom,” reports Dawn.

    “We will continue to press all governments to remedy shortcomings in their laws and practices and to promote accountability for those responsible for abuses,” he added.

    According to US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) official website, each year the US President designates CPC to countries in which governments have engaged in or tolerated systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom.

    Moreover, Washington has placed Taliban governed Afghanistan under a “special watch list”.
