    Delivery boy gang rape case: Islamabad high court dismisses bail plea

    The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of prime suspect, Ibrahim Khan, in the alleged gang rape of a food delivery boy at Islamabad’s International Islamic University on June 18 2021.

    After the court rejected Khan’s bail plea, he was arrested outside of the court.

    In June of this year, a food delivery boy was gang raped by students at the International Islamic University. According to details, the rape victim was a 22-year-old student at Quaid-e-Azam University and was delivering food to make ends meet.

    The delivery boy delivered food to the hostel on Friday night. When he came out of the room, he fell to the floor and was moved to the hospital by the guards at the hostel.

    Two students were expelled, Ibrahim Khan and Mehmood Ashraf, and Ibrahim Khan’s bail plea was dismissed by the court.

    CPEC Authority chief Gen Asim Bajwa resigns

    Lieutenant General (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa on Tuesday resigned from his position as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority’s chief, as he thanked the government and Prime Minister Imran Khan for their support.

    Bajwa took to Twitter and said, “I bow my head before Allah Almighty for giving me an opportunity to raise and steer the important institution of CPEC Authority as one window for all CPEC projects, charting the future direction.”

    Bajwa further tweeted that he wished the best for Khalid Mansoor, who has replaced him as the special assistant to the prime minister (SAPM) on CPEC Affairs.

    He said Mansoor was fully equipped to take CPEC forward. “CPEC is a lifeline for Pakistan; it will transform us into a progressive and fully developed country.”

    Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar thanked Bajwa for his services in moving CPEC forward and playing a vital role in broadening the project’s scope.

    The federal minister welcomed Mansoor to the team as SAPM for CPEC Affairs.

    According to Engro website, Khalid Mansoor was the Chief Executive of The Hub Power Company Limited (Hubco) since May 20, 2013.

    He holds a Degree in Chemical Engineering with Distinction and honors. Mansoor is also the Chairman of Laraib Energy Limited, a subsidiary of (Hubco).

    He has over 32 years of experience and expertise in the Energy & Petrochemical Sectors in leading roles for mega-size Projects Development, Execution, Management and Operations.

    Faisal further added that the people who are proven guilty of molesting children are actually beasts and not humans.

    “These savage beasts must be made an example out of,” said Javed.

    Last week, almost all the women lawmakers of the National Assembly, both from treasury and Opposition benches, unanimously demanded public hanging of all rapists.

    Suspect involved in couple harassment, torture case seeks bail

    A suspect in a case pertaining to sexual harassment and torture of a couple in Islamabad involving Usman Mirza has filed a bail plea before the Islamabad High Court (IHC), ARY NEWS reported on Monday.

    As per reports, the hearing in the case was heard by IHC judge Justice Tariq Mahmood.

    The suspect’s counsel said that the video involving Usman Mirza harassing and torturing an Islamabad couple went viral and police filed a case against Usman Mirza and nominated five persons in it.

    “Neither my client committed the act nor was he present at the incident site,” adding that he was also not included in the FIR.

    The lawyer said that the trial court rejected his client’s bail plea even after notifying them that he was a university student and could not flee anywhere.

    “The IHC should grant bail to him while considering the argument,” he added as the court adjourned the hearing for another two weeks.

    Earlier in July, a district and sessions court in Islamabad ordered the police to submit a challan against Usman Mirza and his other partners until September 10.

    The court extended the remand of four suspects, including Usman Mirza, Idris Qayyum Butt, Farhan, and Atta ur Rehman, after their 14-day remand ended.

    While directing the police to submit challan in the case, the court asked to present them before the court on August 13 and 27.

    The accused have been sent to Adiala Jail until September 10.

    Journalist Ansar Abbasi has requested Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqat to arrest two models who posed in front of Quaid’s portrait on Expressway Islamabad, Propergaanda reports.

    “The DC Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat is requested to arrest the couple, who displayed extreme obscenity in public in the federal capital,” wrote Ansar tagging DC Islamabad to which Ansar replied, “Anyone with any information may please share with us.”

    Talking to The Current, lawyer and noted commentator Reema Omar said that if the police or Ansar Abbasi want to push a case against the two, they could use one Pakistani law, “There is an old provision in the penal code, which has been there from colonial times, that criminalises obscenity in public places (section 294). It is very vague and has overboard provisions.”

    “It is unclear if the law has been used before or how the courts have interpreted obscenity.”

    Shahzad Akbar ‘pardons’ Nazir Chohan for ‘putting his and his family’s lives at risk’

    Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior and Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar has forgiven Punjab MPA Nazir Chohan, reports Geo News.

    It was reported that Akbar stamped a written reconciliation document, which said, “There will be no objection on the bail of Nazir Chohan.”

    Akbar said Chohan had admitted his mistake and apologised.

    A video message was released wherein Chohan stated that he had raised questions about the faith of Akbar and sought his explanation. “Akbar has now given his statement that he completely believes in the finality of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH),” he said.

    The PM’s aide had earlier asserted that Chohan ran a “fake campaign” against him, “putting his life, as well as those of his family at risk”.

    “I lodged a complaint to the police and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as a common citizen,” Akbar had said.

    “Chohan was arrested as a consequence of allegations proving true against him during investigations, and I hope that I will get justice,” he had added.

    Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar announced on Tuesday that Pakistan had hit the target of administering one million Covid-19 vaccination doses in a day.

    The minister took to Twitter and said, “Happy to report that the target we had set for 1 million vaccinations in a day was crossed yesterday with 10 lakh 72 thousand vaccinations.”

    “All federating entities contributed with Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Islamabad all doing record numbers. Amazing performance by all involved,” tweeted Umar.

    Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan also confirmed the milestone and congratulated “all who have made this happen”.

    According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), a total of 31,929,581 doses of Covid vaccines had been administered across Pakistan as of Monday, with 1,072,342 doses administered on August 2.
