    UN chief António Guterres gets re-elected for second term

    United Nations (UN) SecretaryGeneral, António Guterres has been re-elected for a second five-year term, on Friday by the 193 state members of the UN general assembly.

    As per reports, earlier this month, a 15-membered Security Council body unanimously recommended his name for the re-appointment. His official tenure will start from January 1, 2022, which lasts to 2026.

    This announcement was made by the President of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir, after that he took oath from Guterres at the podium of the UN General Assembly hall.

    He expressed his gratitude by saying that serving in UN is an immense privilege and noble duty to him.

    Guterres’s major focus throughout his tenure has always been uniting the world behind efforts to combat climate change and environmental collapse. In 2017, he succeeded Korean diplomat, Ban Ki Moon who also served twice as the UN Eighth Secretary General.

    António Guterres, a Portuguese National currently is 72 years old. In the past, he also had served twice as the Prime Minister of Portugal.

    Mariam Nusrat Adil, who hails from Pakistan, has made it to ‘Forbes Next 1000’.

    As per Forbes , “Mariam is a Pakistani national, is an education specialist at the World Bank, who set up not-for-profit GRID — Gaming Revolution for International Development — in 2016. Its aim is to create low-cost mobile games to educate, engage and empower people for positive social change. They include games on reproductive health, compassion for animals and climate change, amongst others. She claims total downloads have exceeded 15,000.”

    “The most successful is Nari Paila, a reproductive health game. One of Adil’s career highlights was presenting at sessions moderated by President Clinton at a Clinton Global Initiative University meeting. In March, she co-founded Gaming Revolution for International Development, which is building a platform that empowers people to create their own video games with no-code, at low-cost and lightning speed.”

    Mariam is the founder of the social-impact-gaming studio, GRID. Mariam holds two Masters Degrees, an MA in International Development Studies from George Washington University, USA and an MSc in Economics from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan.

    Earlier, this year in April Pakistani musician Abdullah Siddiqui Forbes list of ’30 under 30′ 2021 Asia list and in the same month chef Zahra Khan, made it to Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe in the Retail and E-commerce category

    Ukraine’s Andriy Yarmolenko asks Coca-Cola and Heineken to contact him after Ronaldo, Locatelli’s snub

    After Ukraine’s win against North Macedonia, footballer Andriy Yarmolenko mocked Cristiano Ronaldo in front of the media, and also took a chance to promote himself, asking Coca-Cola and Heineken to contact him.

    The Ukrainian player was in a funny mood after Ukraine’s 2-1 win against North Macedonia in their UEFA Euro 2020 Group C encounter, at Bucharest’s National Arena on Thursday. At his post-match press conference, the Ukrainian star took a dig at Ronaldo in front of the media, by putting both Coca-Cola and Heineken bottles in front of him.

    Earlier this week, the Portugal captain had hit the headlines when he removed two bottles of Coca-Cola out of the camera’s sight during a press conference. The Portuguese skipper had also asked the reporters to drink water instead.

    Yarmolenko scored a goal for the second consecutive game in Euro 2020, and also assisted against North Macedonia. He also scored in his side’s earlier 3-2 defeat to Netherlands. At his post-match press conference, the West Ham attacker cheekily mocked Ronaldo and even made an attempt to promote himself for potential sponsors.

    Can I do something? I’ve seen Ronaldo putting away Coca-Cola bottles recently”, he asked the reporters.
    He added, “I’ll put Coca-Cola here. I’ll put Heineken right here up front! Guys, contact me!”
    Earlier, France midfielder Paul Pogba had also displayed a similar approach as he picked up a Heineken beer bottle and placed it behind the news conference table.
    Meanwhile, UEFA had warned that the teams could be fined if they move drinks at Euro 2020 news conferences.

    Nida Yasir took a break from her live morning show for Turkish getaway with her family, on returning back the Nadaniyaan actress revealed that she was robbed in Turkey. Earlier, in June the internet blew up with pictures of Nida Yasir and Yasir Nawaz’s vacation to Turkey

    Nida after coming back to her show shared her experience saying that she had both good experience and bad experience on the trip. The morning she host added that she carried Diamond Jewelry with her which she bought from her first pay-check.

    Nida continued by saying, that due to the fear of theft, she had left the jewelry in her bag in her hotel cupboard. When she checked the bag three days later, the jewelry was missing which included three rings and one diamond pendant.

    She added that the incident happened one day before she had to leave for Pakistan, and she had to spend the entire night in police station to lodge her FIR.

    Hamza Ali Abbasi once hijacked Saba Qamar’s Facebook account about which the Baaghi actress revealed on HSY’s chat show.

    Saba was invited to Hassan Sheheryar Yaseen’s (HSY) show, Tonight With HSY , when the host quipped her about her controversial post, she revealed that it was a prank by Hamza. Saba elaborated that when she and Hamza were sitting together somewhere, the Man Mayal actor asked her if he could check her Facebook, Saba said she thought that maybe he wanted her to like some page and was going to do it for her, therefore, she handed over her phone to him. Hamza posted the “I love you” comment on his wall from Saba’s account without even telling Qamar.

    Saba said that she never felt the need to give justifications to anyone because she knew that there was nothing between them.

    A drama page posted the comment along with Hamza and Saba’s picture on Facebook and after that rumors about Saba Qamar and Hamza Ali Abbasi being more than just friends surfaced social media.

    “I was on a plane that was about to take off. Naturally, everyone was quiet and during that time, a man walks up to me and he’s so loud that everyone can hear that I’m sitting there,” said Badami.

    “I was thinking, people usually take selfies and no one asks for autographs anymore,” adding, “However, as soon as I started writing, I heard his voice near my ear saying ‘Sir that ‘Tajdar-e-Haram’ that you sang was brilliant,” he shared while laughing.

    “At this point, I was just wondering how to lift my face and break it to him,” adding that everyone was listening to them.

    ‘Pakistan will absolutely not allow CIA to use bases for Afghanistan Operations’: PM Khan

    Pakistan will “absolutely not” allow the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to use bases on its soil for cross-border counter-terrorism missions after American forces withdraw from Afghanistan said, Prime Minister Imran Khan.

    In an interview with Jonathan Swan of HBO Axios, which will be aired Monday at 3:00 am PST, the premier reiterated Pakistan’s stance on the use of military bases and categorically stated that Islamabad will not allow it.

    The US is in talks with Pakistan and other regional countries for cooperation in future operations in the war-torn country to keep a check on militancy.

    The prime minister was again asked by the US media for his comments on giving access to the CIA to military bases.

    “Will you allow the American government to have the CIA here in Pakistan to conduct cross border counter-terrorism missions against Al Qaeda, ISIS and the Taliban?” Swan asked the premier.

    “Absolutely not,” PM Khan responded.

    Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said earlier that Pakistan wants a stable Afghanistan, but there are some elements who do not want peace in the region.

    The FM had categorically stated that Pakistan has refused to give military bases to the US and added that he had told all the political parties in a briefing that they have no such intention.

    “Search for bases could be their wish. There’s no question of giving them bases, we have to see our interest.”

    A part of Australis’s state of Victoria has been covered with thick layers of cobweb. The area had received heavy rains and flooding last week forcing many residents to leave.  Other locals are still there without power in the state as authorities repair transformers and clear roads.

    A video doing rounds on social media shows an entire area covered in massive spider webs. The spiders create these web sheets as part of a survival tactic known as ‘Ballooning’. In such events, spiders release silk strands to climb to higher ground.

    This is not the first time when the cobwebs have taken over the region after heavy rainfall. A similar incents had occurred after the rains in Gippsland in 2013.

    Chaotic scenes erupted outside Balochistan Assembly Friday as Opposition lawmakers and supporters held a protest outside the assembly and were baton-charged by the police.

    Police said Opposition lawmakers had locked all four doors of the Balochistan Assembly to prevent the budget session from taking place today.

    The Opposition’s protest and clashes intensified when Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan arrived at the assembly.

    “We will not let the budget be passed until our demands are met,” the protesting lawmakers said.

    The sit-in has been staged against the “disregard for Opposition constituencies and release of funds to unelected persons”.

    Clashes erupted when police arrived at the assembly gate at the MPA Hostel when Opposition lawmakers and police exchanged heated words. Police managed to open the doors of the assembly so that the government lawmakers could enter for the budget session.

    Prior to this, supporters of the Opposition parties had blocked national highways in several cities of Balochistan. The Opposition accused the government of ignoring development projects in the budget.

    Opposition lawmakers had warned they would not let the provincial government present the budget on Friday.

    Leaders of the Opposition parties, according to Dawn, said they would not allow any MPA to enter the assembly on Friday if their proposed development projects were not included in the provincial Annual Development Programme (ADP).
