Winner winner chicken dinner: KFC launches gaming console

In what seems to be just another news for 2020, fast-food giant KFC has launched a gaming console that can also keep chicken warm. It’s called KFConsole.  Forget the PS5, ignore the XBox, the true king of gaming consoles is KFC.

Back in June this year, KFC released a ridiculously hilarious trailer for the KFConsole right after Sony’s PS5 reveal. The tech world didn’t take the news seriously and considered this a marketing stunt from KFC.

KFC has collaborated with Cooler Master and has launched a gaming console that is capable of handling 4K gaming titles at 240 fps.

But what makes this console special, apart from the brand that it is coming from, is that has the world’s first built-in chicken chamber in it. KFC promises to keep the contents of the chicken chamber hot and ready for consumption for gamers. This is made possible thanks to a custom-build cooling system that manages to keep the hardware working at normal temperature while the heat precipitated through the console’s component will be used to warm the console’s chicken chamber.

According to reports, Mark Cheevers, KFC PR head in a press release said, “This machine is capable of running games at top-level specs, all on top of keeping your meal warm for you to enjoy during your gaming experience, what’s not to like?” What’s not to like indeed.

Continuing with his wit Cheevers remarked, “If Sony or Microsoft want any tips on how to engineer a chicken chamber for their efforts next time, they’d be welcome to get in touch.”

The KFConsole is not just a product born out of a marketing gimmick. According to the reports, it is powered with an Intel NUC CPU, a 1TB SSD by Seagate Barracuda, and an Nvidia GPU. According to Cooler Master, KFConsole also has a one of a kind swappable GPU slot that can be used for easy upgrades.

Yasir has often found himself at the receiving end of flak with his comments on Turkish actors and dramas. When Diriliş: Ertuğrul initially aired in April 2020, the actor had likened Turkish dramas to ‘landay k kapray’.

Landy k kapray aur Turkey k dramay, dono hee local industry ko tabah kardein gay,” the actor had said.

Later, the actor was reported to have likened Turkish actors to ‘kachra‘ (garbage). According to details, Yasir while sharing a picture of ‘Pakistani Turgut and Pakistani Ertuğrul’ had commented: “Inko koi nahi poochega (no one will give them any attention). Kyunke ghar ki murgi daal barabar or bahar ka kachra bhi maal barabar,” insinuating that Pakistanis do not appreciate local talent enough.

He was also very critical of QMobile for appointing Esra as their brand ambassador.

Apko nahi lagta k Pakistan brand ki brand ambassador bhi Pakistani honi chahiye? Na Indian na Turkish? Pakistan Zindabad (Don’t you think Pakistani brands should have Pakistani brand ambassadors? Neither Turkish nor Indian),” the actor had written on social media.

Naked man interrupts Pakistan-NZ Test match

A naked man invaded the field during the first Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand on Saturday.

The security was a little late to react while the nude pitch invader ran into the field during the first day of the first Test match at the Bay Oval.

Pakistan’s captain Mohammad Rizwan and New Zealand’s captain Kane Williamson looked on as the pitch invader ran onto the field and passed near them.

This is not the first incident of its kind.

During the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 one-day match between England and New Zealand a bizarre incident in the 34th over caught everyone’s attention. A nude pitch invader took advantage of a break in play to run onto the field and interrupt proceedings.

With New Zealand struggling at 145 for six in the 34th over, a fan took to the field. The naked man, wearing just a green hat, managed to reach the middle of the pitch and get close up to New Zealand batsmen Tom Latham and Mitchell Santner before managing to avoid security. The man was eventually hauled away by seven men and then broke free before being tackled to the ground.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first. While Black Caps have scored 222 runs for 3. Williamson is on 94 (not out), Nicholls scored 42 runs (not out), Taylor scored 70 runs. Shaheen took three wickets by giving 55 runs. Match will now resume tomorrow for the second day.

  • Maryam says over 95 per cent PML-N lawmakers have submitted resignations to her

Maryam says over 95 per cent PML-N lawmakers have submitted resignations to her

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has said that out of 160 Punjab lawmakers, 159 MPAs have submitted their resignations to the party leadership in line with the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) strategy to ramp up pressure on the government.

Speaking to reporters ahead of her visit to Sindh to participate in a rally organised by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to mark Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary, Maryam said the deadline given to the lawmakers to turn in their resignations was Dec 31.

She said the only provincial lawmaker who hasn’t submitted her resignation letter is currently battling for her life after she was put on a ventilator.

Speaking about the National Assembly members, she said over 95 per cent MNAs have sent in their resignations to her. According to Maryam, the lawmakers will submit their resignations till 31st to the party leadership and the PDM will subsequently decide when to send them to the respective speakers.

Maryam said the lawmakers will not defy the party line, as they know that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has “no future”. She added that attempt to damage the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) also backfired because people have become politically aware.

Speaking about her uncle and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, the de-facto PML-N chief said that Shehbaz has always been loyal to his brother Nawaz Sharif. Shehbaz would have been the prime minister of the country instead of “incompetent” Imran Khan had he betrayed his brother at the behest of the powers-that-be, said Maryam.

Maryam also rubbished the reports of any potential “grand dialogue” between the government and the opposition. She said there will be no talks with the government and Imran Khan will have to go home.

  • Seven rare deer die mysteriously at Bahawalpur Zoo

Seven rare deer die mysteriously at Bahawalpur Zoo

Seven rare deer were reported dead in Bahawalpur Zoo on Saturday.

According to reports, it is suspected that the animals died after eating poisonous fodder. At least 12 other deer at the zoo are in critical condition.

The deer who died were of a rare breed.

The zoo management claimed that dozens of deer suddenly started falling ill. Seven of them died within a short period after falling ill while 22 were rescued and treated.

“12 are still in critical condition,” added the management.

According to the administration, the cause of the deaths has not yet been ascertained. Their samples have been sent to Lahore for further investigation.

The Bahawalpur Zoo curator said the cause of death will only be known after an autopsy.

With little legislation to safeguard animal welfare, zoos across Pakistan are notorious for their poor conditions. Recently, the Peshawar Zoo lost its fourth giraffe in 2020, just a few days after a black bear’s alleged death. Similarly, the Sindh High Court, earlier this week ordered the Karachi Zoo management to shift Rano from her 25-foot wide Victorian ‘grotto’ pit to another open cage.

  • 120-year-old chocolate found in poet’s personal belongings

120-year-old chocolate found in poet’s personal belongings

A 120-year-old box of chocolate has been found from the personal collection of the late poet and journalist A.B. ‘Banjo’ Paterson by the staff at the National Library of Australia (NLA).

Conservators at the NLA unearthed the sweet treats in a souvenir chocolate tin that was given to soldiers by Queen Victoria during the Boer War.

The discovery was made by the library staff while unpacking the contents of the poet who wrote Waltzing Matilda and The Man from Snowy River. The purpose of unpacking the box that has the poet’s papers was to digitize the contents and make them available online.

According to the National Library of Australia (NLA), the souvenir tin was commissioned by Queen Victoria and sent to South Africa during the Boer War as a gift to troops serving on the front.

It is believed that the poet had brought the chocolates from a soldier while serving as a war correspondent in South Africa for the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age for nearly a year starting in October 1899 before returning to Australia.

The NLA conservator told that there was quite an interesting smell when they were unpacked.

Paterson’s papers were passed on by his family after his death in 1941. However, the poet never referenced the chocolate bar in his writing.
