‘Say no to bombing babies’; Bryan Adams slams Israel in concert

Canadian rock singer Bryan Adams closed his recent concert in Dublin, Ireland, with a song in support of Palestinians in Gaza, who are enduring an Israeli-led genocide.

Music and creative consultant Suzanne Doyle shared a clip from the concert on her Instagram post and commended the singer: “Thanks @bryanadams  #EndGazaGenocide by #ApartheidIsrael CONTACT YR LOCAL GOV REP NOW”

In the video, recorded during his concert, Bryan Adams, after finishing Straight From The Heart, which he had initially said would be his final song of the night, stopped his keyboardist, Gary Breit, from leaving the stage. After a brief exchange, Adams turned to face the crowd.

“I’m really so proud of you, the Irish, for standing up for human rights,” he told the audience. “Here [in Ireland], it’s one of the few places that says f**king no to bombing babies.”

He then introduced Native Son, a rarely performed track from his 1987 album, explaining its relevance to the ongoing genocide in Gaza. “This song is about people stealing other people’s land,” he said, while drawing parallels between the plight of Native Americans and Palestinians. His remarks were met with loud applause, followed by a profound silence as he began to play the song.

    Fans online praised the singer:

“Thank you, such a brave soul ❤”

“I’m really proud of you, Bryan. Thank you for using your massive platform for Palestine “

“This right here is a true artist and a true legend!”

“OMG! I LOVE BRYAN EVEN MORE! I’m literally on the verge of tears!”

  • Here’s why Alex Hales left Islamabad United during PSL 10 playoffs

Here’s why Alex Hales left Islamabad United during PSL 10 playoffs

Defending champions Islamabad United were without star opener Alex Hales during the crucial playoff stage of the 10th Pakistan Super League (PSL), and now, the reason for his sudden exit has been revealed.

According to media reports, England’s opener left the tournament mid-way to attend a close friend’s wedding. Hales flew from Pakistan to Spain for the ceremony, missing Islamabad United’s remaining matches.

Interestingly, Hales had been among the first international players to return to Pakistan after the tournament was rescheduled following the recent Indian aggression. His early arrival was initially viewed as a strong show of commitment to the franchise.

However, earlier reports suggested that Hales had only signed up for two matches due to personal reasons, which led to fan speculation about his limited participation.

This development follows Islamabad United’s underwhelming performance in the first qualifier, where they were defeated by the Quetta Gladiators. Hales was dismissed for a duck after facing just two deliveries in that match.

Islamabad United now face a do-or-die clash against Lahore Qalandars in Eliminator 2, without one of their most experienced overseas players.

  • ‘If you stop our water, we will stop your breaths’; ISPR chief warns India

‘If you stop our water, we will stop your breaths’; ISPR chief warns India

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has issued a stern warning to India against blocking Pakistan’s share of water.

“If you [India] stop our water, we will stop your breaths,” DG ISPR Sharif reportedly said while addressing a public gathering at a university.

Earlier, in an interview with an international media outlet, the DG ISPR stated, “Nobody should dare to stop Pakistan’s water. We hope such a time never comes, but if it does, the world will witness our actions.”

Following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which killed 26 people, New Delhi suspended the long-standing Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) after accusing Pakistan of involvement, despite failing to provide any evidence so far.

According to the treaty, the waters of the western rivers, Chenab, Jhelum, and Indus, belong to Pakistan, while the eastern rivers, Beas, Ravi, and Sutlej, are allocated to India. However, India is permitted to use the water from the western rivers for hydroelectric projects, provided it does not divert their flow.

Pakistan has declared that any act of diverting or blocking its share of water will be considered “an act of war”.

Earlier this month, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also warned India, saying that Pakistan would strike any structure built to block the water flow in violation of the IWT.

“If they attempt to construct such a structure, we will strike and destroy it,” the defence minister stated during an appearance on a private news channel.

Asif added that stopping water would constitute an act of aggression against Pakistan. “Aggression is not only carried out through artillery shells or gunfire. It has many forms and phases. [Stopping the water] is also a phase of aggression. Such actions can lead nations to die from hunger and thirst,” he asserted.

However, he also noted, “But for now, we are heading to forums available to us, starting from the Indus Waters Treaty. We will pursue this matter.”

    Pakistan’s Naila Kiani scales world’s third-highest peak

Pakistan’s top female mountaineer, Naila Kiani, has achieved another major milestone by successfully summiting the world’s third-highest mountain, Kangchenjunga, at 8,586 metres.

On Thursday evening, Naila began her final climb from Camp Four and reached the summit early Friday at 6 a.m., proudly raising the Pakistani flag atop the towering peak.

Kangchenjunga is located at the border between Nepal and India and is the highest mountain in India.

“Climbing Kangchenjunga is not just a personal milestone,” she said after achieving her feat. “It is a message for all women in Pakistan that they are stronger than they think.”

With this success, Naila has now scaled 12 of the world’s 14 peaks above 8,000 metres, making her the first and only Pakistani woman to reach this milestone. Her next targets are Shishapangma and Dhaulagiri.

Naila began her mountaineering journey in 2021 with Gasherbrum II. This was followed by the summit of K2, the world’s second-highest peak, in July 2022, and then Gasherbrum I a month later.

In 2023, she successfully climbed Annapurna, Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, and Cho Oyu.

In May 2024, she climbed Makalu, the world’s fifth-highest mountain.

Now, with only two 8,000-metre giants remaining, Naila Kiani is close to completing one of high-altitude mountaineering’s most elite challenges.

Nadia Khan reveals her surprising link to AVM Aurangzeb Ahmed

TV host Nadia Khan has revealed a surprising personal connection to Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed, the Pakistan Air Force hero behind Operation Bunyan Um Marsoos, and also shared an unexpected foodie recommendation: the jalebi at his house is a must-try.

Speaking on her morning show on a private TV channel, Nadia shared that AVM Aurangzeb is a close friend of her husband, Faisal Rao. She also showed a photo from 1989, where Faisal and Aurangzeb are seen together with friends at a recreational spot.

“When I married Faisal in 2021, he told me he had three brothers,” Nadia recalled. “Then he said, ‘I have one more: Aurangzeb. He’s a great fighter pilot.’ They used to talk on the phone for hours. When I finally met him, I was truly impressed. His wife is a graceful woman, and their children are very sharp. And if you haven’t eaten jalebi at their house, then you haven’t really eaten!”

Nadia added that when she met “Aurangzeb Bhai” for the first time, he spoke only about Pakistan. “He is a loving and caring man. Faisal always says, ‘I don’t want my son to be like me, I want him to be like Aurangzeb.’”

While many online found Nadia’s revelations touching and unexpected, others were more critical.

One user commented, “No one remembers you in failure. After success, everyone becomes your relative.”

Another wrote, “Don’t you have any recent pictures with him?”

A sarcastic remark read, “Does Aurangzeb Sir know your husband chats with him for hours?”

One said, “Just give Nadia an award she always finds a reason to stay in the spotlight.”

Arshad Nadeem on Neeraj Chopra’s comments

Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has chosen not to respond to Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra’s recent comments about their relationship, saying that the current tense situation between Pakistan and India is not the right time to talk.

When asked about Chopra’s statement while speaking to the media on Wednesday, Nadeem said, “I don’t want to talk about it because of the situation between Pakistan and India. I always stand with the Pakistan Army.”

Chopra, in a recent interview, had said that while the two have always shown mutual respect, they were never close friends, adding that their equation is not the same anymore. “We were never really close friends or anything,” Chopra stated. “But because of this [recent issue], it will not be like before.”

Despite not commenting further, Nadeem praised Chopra’s performance, congratulating him for crossing the 90-metre mark for the first time in his career at the Diamond League in Doha, where Chopra won a silver medal.

The Pakistani javelin ace is now focused on the upcoming Asian Athletics Championship, which will be held in Korea from May 27 to 31.

“I will try my best to perform well at the event,” he said. “My goal is to throw 100 meters. I’m working hard, and by the will of Allah, I’ll achieve it one day.”

After the Asian Championship, Nadeem shared that he plans to travel to England after Eid-ul-Adha to begin preparations for the World Athletics Championship. He will be training there alongside his coach Salman Butt.

At age 28, Nadeem continues to carry Pakistan’s hopes on the international stage and is working tirelessly to reach new milestones in his career.

Joe Root becomes first English batter to score 13,000 runs in Tests

England’s Joe Root has achieved a major milestone in Test cricket, becoming the first English player to score 13,000 runs in the longest format of the game.

The historic moment came on Thursday during the opening day of the Test match against Zimbabwe when Root reached the landmark by scoring his 28th run of the innings.

With this achievement, Root became only the fifth player in the world to cross 13,000 runs in Test cricket. More impressively, he now holds the record for being the fastest to reach this milestone, doing so in just his 153rd Test match.

Previously, the record for the quickest to 13,000 Test runs belonged to South Africa’s legendary all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who reached the mark in 159 matches. Other greats such as Rahul Dravid (160 matches), Ricky Ponting (162) and Sachin Tendulkar (163) took longer to achieve the same.

Tendulkar still holds the record for the most runs in Test history, with 15,921 runs in 200 matches.

Meanwhile, England dominated the first day of the Test against Zimbabwe, finishing at 498 for 3. Ben Duckett led the charge with a brilliant 140 while Zak Crawley contributed 124 runs. Root added 34 runs before being dismissed.

At the stumps, Ollie Pope remained not out on 169 and Harry Brook was not out on 9, setting the stage for a massive first-innings total.

  • Google integrates Gemini AI model into Chrome browser

Google integrates Gemini AI model into Chrome browser

Google has officially integrated its powerful Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) model into the Chrome web browser, ushering in a new era of smart browsing for users.

The announcement was made during the company’s annual developer conference, where Google revealed that the latest update will provide users with access to a new AI-powered browsing assistant. This assistant is designed to help users better understand web pages and complete tasks more efficiently.

A dedicated Gemini icon will now appear in the upper-right corner of the Chrome browser. By clicking this icon, users can instantly start chatting with the AI assistant.

Initially, the Gemini assistant will allow users to request explanations for complex information found on web pages. It can also generate concise summaries of online content.

For example, if a webpage featuring a cooking recipe is opened, the user can ask Gemini how to prepare the same dish using a different method. Similarly, it can be used for a wide range of other purposes, enhancing both productivity and convenience.

This new AI feature is being rolled out first to subscribers of Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra in the United States.

Google’s decision to integrate Gemini directly into Chrome appears to be a strategic move to keep users within its own ecosystem, discouraging them from switching to alternatives such as ChatGPT. With the Gemini icon built directly into the browser, users can access AI assistance instantly without leaving their browsing session.

According to the company, future versions of the Gemini assistant in Chrome will be even more advanced. It will eventually be able to operate across multiple tabs simultaneously and assist users with navigation across various websites.

With this integration, Google aims to redefine how users interact with the web, making browsing smarter, faster, and more intuitive.

‘Live and let live’; Iffat Omar slams Fahad Mustafa’s take on family vloggers

Senior actress Iffat Omar addressed Fahad Mustafa’s remarks about YouTubers in a recent interview, offering the actor-producer some advice.

In March, while referring to family vloggers in an interview, Fahad stated that he “can never be part of a process like selling their family.” The comment sparked backlash from content creators, including YouTuber Rajab Butt, who said he couldn’t respect a senior who doesn’t value others’ work.

Addressing his statement, Iffat Omar said, “Everyone has the right to achieve fame, no matter the method. We move with the times; we don’t live in the past. Everyone should have the freedom to do what they want.”

Directly addressing Fahad Mustafa, she added, “You are the highest-paid actor in this country. You don’t need to compete with anyone. Don’t measure fame by your wealth. Stay in your place, don’t criticise others, live and let live.”

Discussing the evolution of the entertainment industry, Iffat said, “People’s thinking has changed. Today’s actors live better lives than those in the past. Back then, when a woman said she was an actress, people would ask, ‘What else do you do?’ and many men weren’t willing to marry actresses. That mindset has changed now.”

On the issue of gender pay disparity, she commented, “There isn’t much difference in remuneration anymore. Women are paid well, and even if there’s a gap, it balances out because women get more advertisement work.”

She added, “If Fahad Mustafa charges more per ad, Mahira Khan makes up the difference by doing more campaigns, so it evens out.”
