WATCH: Indians start digging for gold after watching Chhaava movie

Multiple videos have emerged online showing a large crowd of Indian locals digging in the fields of Asirgad village in the Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh after watching the movie Chhaava.

As per details, the movie depicts the Mughals looting gold and treasure from the Marathas and burying it near Asirgarh Fort, an area surrounded by the village.

After watching the movie, rumours spread that gold coins had been found in the fields, prompting hundreds of Indians, including women, men, elderly people, and children, to rush to the fields. As seen in the viral videos, people brought along tools, some simple and some sophisticated, and began digging in search of treasure.

The footage further shows that some people utilized metal detectors in the darkness of the night in search of gold in Asirgad fields.

In one video, a man can be heard saying, “Yaha par log sona khooj rahy hain, dekho yaha par sara ujala hi ujala kr diya hai. Is khait ma aisa kaha gaya hai kay sona nikal raha hai tu sab log auzaar la kr sonay kay sikky nikaal rahy hain. Ye dekhiye kitni public hai kitni bheer hai. (People are searching for gold. Look, the entire place is lit up. It is said that gold has been found in this field, so everyone has brought tools and is digging out gold coins. Just look at how many people are here, how big the crowd is).”

As per details, people started digging around 7 pm on Thursday and continued until the wee hours of Friday.

A few days ago, brass and gold coins were discovered, bearing inscriptions in Urdu and Arabic in Asirgad. This has led to speculation that they might date back to the Mughal era. Following this discovery, people began searching for more gold coins in the field, an Indian English outlet reported.

Locals believe that Asirgad is home to a historical treasure trove. It is widely believed that in ancient times, soldiers and people used to bury their valuables in the ground. The soil removed during the construction of a four-lane road was dumped in the fields, after which some women were said to have found the coins while digging.

A member of the District Archaeological Association, Dr Manoj Agarwal, maintained that the entire area had been a big centre of power. Raja Asha Ahir was also the leader of the shepherds here. The British Raj, Nadir Shah, Nasir Farooqui and Akbar also dominated this place.

  • Waqar Younis has cheeky response to Mohammad Hafeez’s taunt

Waqar Younis has cheeky response to Mohammad Hafeez’s taunt

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez’s dismissal of the performance of legendary cricketers of the 90s has drawn a response from bowling maestro Waqar Younis.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the former fast bowler shared a picture with left-arm bowling great Wasim Akram, captioning it: “90s Ka Londa!”

Waqar also highlighted the stats of his iconic partnership with Wasim Akram, listing down their 191 Test matches, 618 ODIs, 1,705 wickets, 8,594 runs, 66 five-wicket hauls, and 10 instances of taking 10 wickets in a match. He ended his post with the hashtag #NotBad and tagged Wasim Akram.

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez had taken a dig at cricketers from the 1990s, claiming they had left no legacy behind as they had failed to win any ICC tournaments for Pakistan.

Speaking on a TV program, Hafeez criticized their performances in the 1996, 1999, and 2003 ICC events, saying, “We could have won at least one final, but it didn’t happen.”

He acknowledged, “Past players were mega superstars, but they failed to inspire by winning an ICC trophy. Things improved later, and in 2009, we won an ICC event under Younis Khan’s captaincy.”

Hafeez further stated, “If people look up to Babar Azam today, it is because he was part of the 2017 Champions Trophy-winning team, which played a huge role in reviving Pakistan cricket.”

“Unfortunately, cricketers from the 90s failed to fulfil Pakistan’s dream of winning major ICC tournaments.”

Sitting alongside Hafeez in the studio was former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar, who was not pleased with the remarks.

He responded, “Hafeez has generalized all players, but let me remind him—those 73 ODI wins that put us above India today, we were the ones who won them!”

Amitabh defends son Abhishek as ‘victim of nepotism negativity’

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has spoken out in support of his son Abhishek Bachchan, highlighting a post that described junior Bachchan as a “victim of nepotism negativity.”

On Tuesday, Amitabh took to social media to praise Abhishek’s talent and versatility after news portal Bollywood Talkies shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing Abhishek in a white tuxedo on the red carpet. The post said, “Abhishek Bachchan unnecessarily became the victim of ‘nepotism’ negativity, but the amount of good films in his filmography is very high.”

Amitabh reshared the post, adding, “I feel the same… and not just because I am his father.”

This isn’t the first time Amitabh has praised his son. Ahead of the release of Abhishek’s upcoming film Be Happy, also starring Nora Fatehi, Amitabh applauded his son’s ability to evolve as an artist. He wrote, “Abhishek, you are extraordinary. How you adapt and change with each film character is incredible. Love you, Bhaiyu.”

In another post, Amitabh admired Abhishek’s red carpet style, calling it “superior” and adding, “The walk, the grace, and THE STYLE… no fuss, just a normal being.”

Bollywood is often criticized for promoting star kids while limiting opportunities for newcomers who do not have illustrious surnames. Recently, audiences questioned the casting of Sri Devi’s daughter Khushi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan in Netflix’s Nadaaniyan, despite mixed reviews of their previous performances.

Abhishek entered Bollywood in 2000 with Refugee with Kareena Kapoor. He saw early success with hits like Dhoom, Bunty Aur Babli, and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. However, after 2010, his films, including high-profile ventures Raavan, Game, and Players, didn’t perform well at the box office.

Abhishek then made a strong comeback with critically acclaimed projects like Ludo, Breathe: Into the Shadows, The Big Bull, and Bob Biswas.

Abhishek’s upcoming film, Be Happy, explores a father-daughter relationship and reunites him with his Ludo co-star Inayat Verma. He is also set to return to the Housefull franchise for its fifth installment.

New Zealand’s Matt Henry likely to miss Champions Trophy final

New Zealand’s fast bowler Matt Henry might miss the Champions Trophy 2025 final after sustaining a shoulder injury during the semi-final played on Wednesday in Lahore.

Henry, who is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, got injured while taking a catch to dismiss Heinrich Klaasen.

After the match, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner was hopeful that Henry would recover in time for the final. However, the team’s head coach has now stated that it is too early to confirm his availability 48 hours before the match.

The coach said, “We hope he will be fine. We have conducted scans and assessments, and we will give him every chance to play the final. But at this stage, it’s too early to say anything.”

Henry has been outstanding in the tournament, taking 10 wickets at an average of 16.70. If he is ruled out, New Zealand might include right-arm pacer Jacob Duffy in the playing XI.

Duffy has not played a single match in this Champions Trophy, but he featured in a tri-series against Pakistan before the tournament, where he took one wicket for 48 runs in seven overs.
