Robbers kill man for Rs9 lacs

A private company manager was fatally shot in a robbery incident in Raiwind, Lahore, on Sunday.

Three robbers shot the victim after looting Rs 900,000 in cash, while reports suggest that one of them was allegedly killed by the firing of his accomplice during the robbery.

The victim was identified as Nadeem, who had come from Bahawalnagar to collect the money in Lahore’s Raiwind area.

The police told the media that three armed robbers intercepted the manager on the main road as he was on his way back after collecting the money. One of the robbers opened fire on Nadeem when he resisted giving up the money.

The manager suffered multiple bullet wounds and succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

One of the robbers, later identified as Intizar, was also hit by a bullet allegedly fired by his partner in crime and died on the spot.

However, the two remaining robbers fled the scene with the looted money as people began gathering at the spot.

The police team arrived on time and cordoned off the crime scene.

A police official informed the media that the search patrols in the area have been increased to find the two remaining robbers.

The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the city morgue, and the company and the manager’s relatives have been notified.

A special police team has been assigned to investigate the case with the help of Punjab Safe Cities Authority cameras to trace the culprits.

As per the police, the young hitman was allegedly hired by Imtiaz, deceased Muhammad Riaz’s brother-in-law, over a property dispute.

Imtiaz allegedly hired the hitman and promised him Umrah tickets and a motorbike to kill his brother-in-law Riaz. ARY News has reported that Imtiaz had also promised Rs. 30,000 as payment along with the tickets and motorcycle.

Forced out of her car at 2 AM’: Zoya Nasir reveals mother kidnapping story

Imagine being forced out of your car at 2 AM and turning a terrifying situation into a story of forgiveness. Actress Zoya Nasir’s mother did exactly that.

In an interview on Hasna Mana Hai, the Noor Jahan star revealed how her mother turned a dangerous situation into a story of empathy and forgiveness.

Zoya Nasir said, “My mother was kidnapped near our home. They forced her out of her car, but she calmly told them, ‘I don’t know my way around here, and I might get lost or hurt. Please drop me near my house.’”

This happened around 2 AM while her mother was returning home. Despite the danger, Zoya’s mother insisted on staying in the car and refused to leave.

While the dacoits demanded she get out, her mother stayed calm and rationally handled the situation.

“At the time, my mother was talking to her uncle on the phone. Cleverly, she threw her phone under the car seat and narrated everything loudly, ensuring the police could trace her location. She described landmarks like a nearby mosque and a canal, subtly signaling her location,” Zoya Nasir said.

The police were able to trace her location and rescue her. The car was recovered, and the dacoits were eventually caught. However, the story took an unexpected turn.

Zoya Nasir explained, “It turned out that they were students facing dire circumstances—one had lost his father, another had been cheated out of property, and one was struggling with unemployment. Despite their crime, my mother forgave them.”

The story didn’t end there. Zoya’s mother surprised everyone by helping one of the dacoits with his sister’s wedding.

“She even helped arrange the wedding for one of their sisters, providing a dowry and gifts,” the Kaffara actress shared.

The family later laughed at the unexpected twist of receiving pickles from one of the dacoits’ families.

Earlier, Zoya Nasir appeared as a guest on Up Close and Unfiltered on Mashion’s YouTube channel; she opened up about what gives her butterflies in a relationship and how she defines love. The host asked, “How do you know when you are in love?”

Zoya Nasir replied, “I think you know, when you look forward to their messages or thinking about them makes you smile. You get butterflies when it’s time to meet them and you really think about them and what they would like and they make you feel special and you feel special. I think that’s love.”

Talking about love at first sight, she remarked.

“I don’t think I can fall in love at first sight. Knowing the person takes time,” the actress added.

Mohammad Hafeez is NOT HAPPY with Champions Trophy hybrid model

Former cricket captain Mohammad Hafeez has criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for accepting the hybrid model for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025

Speaking to the media at the National Stadium’s Oval Ground in Karachi on Sunday, the 44-year-old former all-rounder said, “The PCB did not stick to its original principled stance. India is not coming to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. It’s unfortunate that after the 1996 World Cup, ICC events haven’t been held in Pakistan for a long time. However, it’s a positive sign that the Champions Trophy is happening now, and we should convey a positive message.”

Hafeez also praised young batter Saim, saying, “Injuries are part of the game, but Saim Ayub’s case should be handled properly. I am hopeful he will recover soon and be available for the Champions Trophy.”

“If Fakhar Zaman returns for the ICC mega event, it will be a good sign for Pakistan,” he added.

He criticized the ongoing practice of sending players from first-class cricket to the Strikers’ Camp. “Players in this camp should not be given spots in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and such camps should not be held during the season,” he suggested.

Hafeez also expressed disappointment over the lack of facilities in the ongoing President’s Cup, saying, “There were no proper facilities at the Oval Ground, National Stadium. The teams didn’t get clean drinking water, there were no proper dressing rooms, and the washrooms were substandard.”

The Champions Trophy is scheduled to begin on February 19, 2025. Under the hybrid model, matches involving the Indian team will be held in UAE, while the rest of the tournament will take place in Pakistan.

  • FBR to purchase more than 1,000 cars for almost Rs6 billion

FBR to purchase more than 1,000 cars for almost Rs6 billion

As the common people of Pakistan reel from rising taxation and increasing costs of living, the country’s premier tax collection agency, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), plans to buy more than one thousand brand-new Honda City 1.2L CVT cars worth almost six billion rupees.

A notification dated January 10, 2025, went viral on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), addressed to Honda Atlas Cars from the FBR with the subject: “Letter of Intent for the purchase of 1010 Honda City 1.2L CVT.”

Social media users criticised the move, with many pointing out that the salaried class of Pakistan bear the brunt of the government’s expenditure. One user wrote: “About Rs. 6 billion of the hard-earned money of taxpayers including salaried class (taxed oppressively up to 40%) is being spent on buying 1,010 Honda City cars for FBR officials. If you’re a tax payer, you should know where your money is going.”

The official letter also listed the following additional “add-ons” that would be included in the package: “Navigation system with reverse cameras, high-grade interior, free four periodic maintenance (20,000 KM or 12 months), 4th year extended warranty (4years or 100,000 KM subject to regular maintenance at Honda authorized 3S/2S dealership), FBR logos on both front doors and front windscreen, and installation of tracker system with one-year service charges @ Rs.8500/- in all cars for which the FBR will bear the cost.”

The purchase of more than a thousand cars will be completed in two phases, beginning in January of this year and concluding in May 2025.

According to the notification, “FBR will upfront Rupees 3 billion for purchase of one thousand and ten vehicles (as full payment for 500 units and partial payment of balance amount for remaining 510 units) and the balance payment shall be made as and when delivery of the first batch is completed i.e. 500 vehicles. The first payment will be made once pre-receipted bill is received.”

A social media user pointed out that no efficient department would need so many cars for tax collection in this century, writing, “On top of that, all these cars will be used for personal purposes. In today’s digital world, no tax man needs vehicles to work effectively.”

Another user wrote: “Is the salaried class paying taxes from their hard-earned money for this? What exactly has the FBR staff achieved to deserve this reward? Approximately 6B will be spent on purchasing these 1,010 Honda City cars. Take back this decision — it is unacceptable.”

One user took a sigh of relief, adding, “We must be thankful that they booked Honda City and not Toyota Fortuners.”

Here’s how much money YouTubers made from PTI’s November protests

Prominent journalist Absar Alam has revealed the incomes of seven YouTubers in November, the same month in which Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had staged a protest march towards Islamabad.

Talking on his Samaa TV show Mere Sawal, Absar recalled that following the “final call” of party founder Imran Khan, the convoy led by Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur and former First Lady Bushra Bibi marched towards the federal capital on November 24. The protest ended after police launched an operation on the night of November 26, leading to violent clashes and deaths.

PTI had demanded the repeal of the recently passed 26th Constitutional Amendment, the release of all political prisoners, including Imran Khan, and the return of their mandate.

Former ruling party demonstrators clashed with security officials during the three-day protest.

Veteran journalist Absar Alam disclosed the seven YouTubers’ income in November alone.

    Here are the details:

    1st YouTuber

According to a research report presented by TV host Absar Alam, the first YouTuber with 55 lac subscribers earned two lac dollars ($200,000) in November alone, which is equivalent to five crore fifty-six lac rupees (PKR55,600,000). The annual income of the YouTuber was 70 crore rupees. However, the journalist stated that the YouTuber is a “fugitive from Pakistan.”

He is a fugitive from Pakistan,” Alam added.

Khabib Nurmagomedov offloaded from Alaska Airlines

A recent incident involving former mixed martial arts (MMA) champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has gone viral on social media after he was offloaded from a plane.

A video shows Khabib facing an unpleasant situation on Sunday on an Alaska Airlines flight.

The incident took place at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, where Khabib was preparing to fly to Los Angeles. He was asked to leave the plane after a disagreement with the flight crew.

During the interaction, a flight attendant told Khabib, “We can’t allow you to sit in the emergency row. I’ll call my supervisor. You can either take another seat, or we will have to ask you to leave the plane.”

Khabib expressed frustration, calling the decision unfair. “This is not right,” he said. He also mentioned that during check-in, he was asked if he spoke English, to which he responded yes, yet he was still asked to change seats.

Despite the manager offering Khabib an alternative seat and suggesting he take another flight, Khabib and his companions were eventually removed from the plane.

The video shows Khabib picking up his luggage and exiting the aircraft.

  • 24-year-old Pakistani killed in Cyprus

    24-year-old Pakistani killed in Cyprus

A 24-year-old Pakistani man was found dead in Strovolos, Cyprus, after being killed in a police shooting incident on January 6. The news surfaced in international media on Saturday, January 11.

Initial reports suggested that the deceased was wounded by a service weapon and that his body was found thirty kilometres away from the location of the shooting.

According to Cyprus Mail, there are “fears of major coverup in Pakistani man’s death.” Following the incident, state pathologist Nicholas Charalambous was suspended until a disciplinary investigation against him was completed. He had initially ruled out the suspicion of criminal activity when he assessed the victim’s body, even though there was a gaping bullet wound in the victim’s shoulder. However, four days later, after the autopsy, he retracted his statement and confirmed that it was not a stone injury but a gunshot wound — resulting from police fire.

Police found the Pakistani man’s body in a field in a suburb of the capital, Nicosia, on January 6, a national holiday in Cyprus.

Another local news website, Phileleftheros, reported on Sunday that three police officers were being questioned over the shooting, which occurred in a different location from where the body was found.

As the public outcry against the apparent cover-up grew, the state attorney appointed a senior state lawyer, Ninos Kekkos, to carry out an independent investigation.

The Cyprus police, in its official statement, stated that it was patrolling the buffer zone when it noticed three vehicles illegally smuggling migrants. Subsequently, the police officers on duty shot at the wheels of one of the trucks, but the driver, along with the second vehicle, managed to escape into the buffer zone. Furthermore, they have declined to make any statements before the investigation is completed.

Cyprus Mail asserts that the State Pathologist’s ruling that there was no criminal activity meant the CID did not investigate the matter.

However, it was decided on Sunday that an independent investigation would be carried out to address all concerns.

According to Phileleftheros, investigators have discovered a suitcase containing numerous documents relating to foreign nationals during the probe, which are now being investigated.

Dawn reports that Pakistan’s Foreign Office ambassador to Cyprus, who is based in Beirut, was in touch with Cypriot officials over the matter, and an update is expected soon.

  • Ahad Raza Mir talks about collaborations with top actresses

Ahad Raza Mir talks about collaborations with top actresses

When it comes to on-screen chemistry and stellar performances, actor Ahad Raza Mir has had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented actresses in the industry.

During a recent appearance at LUMS University, the Ehd-e-Wafa actor shared insights into his collaborations with leading actresses including Sajal Aly, Ramsha Khan and Danaeer Mobeen.

“I have worked with actresses like Ramsha Khan, Sajal Aly and Dananeer Mobeen, each experience has been unique, and I’ve had a different journey with each of them,” Ahad remarked.

During the session, Ahad discussed how working dynamics influence a project’s narrative and production.

“The energy between an actor and actress on screen can either enhance or shape the story, chemistry between the cast is key, and working with such talented actresses has always been a rewarding experience for me,” he shared.

Ahad Raza Mir has starred in drama such as Khamosiyan, Yakeen Ka Safar, Ehd-e-Wafa, Dhoop Ki Deewar, Hum Tum.

Earlier, the Yakeen Ka Safar actor opened up about upcoming projects in an interview with Gloss Etc by Maliha Rehman.

In Meem Se Mohabbat, Ahad Raza Mir will star opposite Dananeer Mobeen, marking their first on-screen pairing.

“It’s lighthearted with a little bit of a heavy undertone. It’s the kind of story I’ve been looking for because it’s multi-dimensional… has its moments of depth. Not to say that lighthearted work doesn’t have depth, but this has something worth exploring, and that’s why I signed up. It’s written by Farhat Ishtiaq, and I have trouble saying no to her scripts. Her storytelling is phenomenal. Every time I read or hear one of her stories, I get hooked.”

Speaking about his much anticipated Netflix project Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, the Ehd-e Wafa actor reflected on the timing and significance of the series.

“I think I’m waiting for ’Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo’. I’m hopeful and all, but everything has its time, you know? It had to happen at this time, and that’s when it did. I think there are reasons for that. There must be a reason behind it in the cosmos. That’s kind of how I’ve been living life anyway now. I think there’s no point in worrying as long as we, as human beings, think that way… like there’s a greater plan for everything. That’s the way I look at it. I’m just happy it’s coming.”

Ahad Raza Mir’s future plans also include branching out beyond his established relationship with Hum TV to explore new opportunities with other channels.

He’s excited to see how working with different networks will change his experience as an actor.

“I am moving on to other channels as well and I’m excited for that… just to kind of see what the difference is, and obviously, I think every channel also has their own mandate of the kind of content that they want to do. So I’m excited to see myself in that position.”
