  • Astrology experts predict what’s in the bag for Pakistan in 2025

Astrology experts predict what’s in the bag for Pakistan in 2025

Fortuneteller Alia Nazir, while appearing on an ARY News programme last night, predicted interesting things about the political situation of Pakistan in 2025, including when or if former Prime Minister Imran Khan will be released from prison.

“I believe that the year 2025 is going to be very different from previous years. It is going to be very difficult, and unexpected events are going to take place. One of those events is the release of Imran Khan from prison, expected between January and April of this year. Most probably in March he will be out of the prison, not through cutting some deal but through dialogue,” revealed the tarot card reading expert.

Alia Nazir also predicted that 2025 might also witness new elections in Pakistan, saying: “Elections could be held in the second half of the year and the current government might pack its bags mid-year.”

Programme host Muhammad Malick, in a lighter tone, asked the expert whether the stars are confused about the new elections because local governments are actually scheduled to hold elections this year.

Astrologer Alia Nazir laughed and replied: “No, it is not like that. I’m talking about general elections in the country.”

Host Muhamamd Malick asked the expert: “Given that there are two big powers in Pakistan, i.e. Imran Khan and General Asim Munir. Will there be a clash or reconciliation between General Asim Munir and Imran Khan in 2025?”

The tarot card reading expert replied: “In the year 2025, the stars of the Army Chief and the founder of PTI are not in conflict but in a position of negotiation. The planetary positions of both Asim Munir and Imran Khan are very strong, but they are not in a conflicting position. The situation will turn normal, and they will sit together for the betterment of Pakistan.”

Another astrology expert, Samia Khan, predicted: “2025 is the best year for the Army Chief; he will achieve success that no other Army Chief has achieved. The fame, good name and achievements that General Asim Munir is going to achieve in this year 2025 have not been achieved by any army chief or General”

The host then asked the same question to another astrologer Syed Muhammad Ali Zanjani to which he replied: “This is the year oft military. I feel that the matters between both Asim Munir and Imran Khan are going to be solved. This year, however, is not going to be easy. Every institution, every important personality and every power is going to be aligned for Pakistan for the first time in history.”

  • Here is what happened in the Indian dressing room after defeat in Melbourne Test

Here is what happened in the Indian dressing room after defeat in Melbourne Test

The atmosphere in the Indian dressing room has turned tense after the humiliating defeat in the Melbourne Test against Australia, with head coach Gautam Gambhir angry with the players’ performance, Indian media has reported.

India tasted an 184 runs defeat in the Melbourne Test on Monday, making it more difficult for the Indian team to reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).

The atmosphere in the Indian dressing room was not ideal, with the selectors, players, and coaching staff not on the same page.

Reports said that after the defeat in the third test, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, lashed out at the players in the dressing room.

Without naming anyone, Gautam sternky rebuked the players and said that enough was enough; they were doing their own thing in the name of a natural game and were not following the plan given to them. India lost seven wickets in 20.4 overs in the Melbourne Test, then lost the Test match. In six months, the players were given a full opportunity to play the way they wanted to play for the team, but now they will decide how they want to play for the team.

The head coach of the Indian team, while warning the players, said that if any player does not play according to the given strategy, he will be sent off. Batsmen were not performing well in the series against Bangladesh, then the batting line-up also flopped badly in the home series against New Zealand, and now the batsmen have failed in Australia, too.

Australia has a 2-1 lead against India in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Kangaroos are also strong contenders as a finalist of WTC. Earlier, South Africa qualified for the final, defeating Pakistan in the first Test match on Sunday by two wickets.

If India wants to qualify for the final, they must defeat Australia in the last test match.

Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq said, “I cannot confirm such thing at all as the proceedings of the trial are covered within the scope of the Official Secrets Act.”

On being asked whether the former spymaster’s military trial has commenced, Ashfaq did not deny it, saying, “I have seen different media reports suggesting it [the military trial] has started. I am in no position to deny such reports.”

When questioned on the conclusion of the military trial, the former ISI chief’s counsel said that he can’t predict the exact time. “Possibly in a few weeks,” he hinted.

Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq clarified that he, along with his two associates, are representing Gen (r) Faiz Hamid in the military trial.

On December 10, 2024, Faiz Hamid was indicted on multiple allegations, including engaging in political activities, Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

According to the military’s media wing, Hamid was charged with engaging in political activities, violations of the Official Secret Act detrimental to the safety and interest of the state, misuse of authority and government resources and causing wrongful loss to a person(s).

Squid Game’s season 2 takes Netflix by storm, tops charts in 93 countries

Season 2 of Netflix’s Squid Game was expected to shatter records upon its release on Dec 26, and as expected, the hit thriller series has become the first show to top charts at debut in all 93 countries where the streaming platform is available.

As per the details, the groundbreaking success of Season 2 has sparked hopes that it might surpass the hype surrounding the first season of what also became Netflix’s most-viewed series in 2021.

The first season had captivated audiences with its thrilling plot and amassed over two billion viewing hours globally, making it the platform’s most watched non-English show till date.

Interestingly, the journey of Squid Game began in 2009 when creator Huwang Dong-hyuk first conceptualised the story. However, it took more than a decade for the project to gather funding, with Netflix eventually greenlighting it as part of its push for international content.

With its return, Season 2 has kept fans on the edge of their seats, and the excitement doesn’t stop there. Plans are already underway for a third and final season. Despite the overwhelming success, Hwang Dong-hyuk has expressed the need for a break after completing the series.

“I’ve poured so much of myself into this show that I feel drained,” Hwang said in a recent interview.

“I’m planning to take time off, escape to a peaceful place, and recharge without any distractions or calls from Netflix.”

Earlier, Squid Game Season 2 grabs Golden Globe nomination before premiere

Netflix’s Korean giant hit Squid Game, the story of a deadly game for financially troubled people competing for a life-changing prize, was a global hit, breaking streaming records across the world.

The highly anticipated Season 2 has scored a nomination for Best Television Series at the Golden Globe Awards 2025, weeks before its premiere.

Unlike the other shows that have already aired, Squid Game Season Two is set to release on December 26. It’s rare for TV shows to get nominated before their release, but the Korean smash has changed the trend.

For a show to be eligible for the Golden Globe Awards 2025, it must have premiered in 2024 and submitted episodes by November 4. The first season of Squid Game received three nominations and won Best Supporting Actor for O Yeong-su.

In the comedy/musical categories, frontrunners include ‘Emilia Pérez,’ ‘Wicked,’ and ‘Anora.’ For drama, top contenders are The Brutalist, Conclave, and Dune Part Two. In TV, Shogun, Squid Game, Hacks, and Only Murders in the Building lead the pack.

The Golden Globe Awards 2025 ceremony, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, will air live on January 5.

The new season, which premieres on December 26, will follow Seong Gi-hun as he tries to end the brutal survival game once and for all. In the trailer, Gi-hun is asked why he returned to the game after winning in Season 1. Lee Jung-jae’s character responds, “I’m trying to put an end to this game.”

The trailer also shows him coaching the other 455 participants through a dangerous round of Red Light, and Green Light.

Besides Lee Jung-jae, other returning cast members include Wi Ha-jun as Hwang Jun-ho and Lee Byung-hun as the mysterious Front Man.

‘Squid Game’ Season 1, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, premiered in 2021 and quickly became Netflix’s most-watched show. It has over 2.2 billion hours viewed, equating to approximately 265 million views.

The first season was nominated for 17 Emmys and won six, including Best Actor in a Drama for Lee Jung-jae and Best Guest Actress in a Drama for Lee You-mi.

  • TikTok fined $10 million for ‘dangerous’ viral challenges

TikTok fined $10 million for ‘dangerous’ viral challenges

The Venezuelan Supreme Court has imposed a fine of $10 million on TikTok over “dangerous” viral trends.

According to reports, the fine has been imposed after the deaths of three youths while performing viral challenges that were trending on TikTok.

The court said that TikTok was not taking any steps to block or remove the content promoting the dangerous trends.

While the courts did not clarify how TikTok will pay the fine, executives of the app are yet to react to the decision.

Earlier, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro also blamed TikTok for the death of a 12-year-old girl in November. The girl had allegedly lost her life while participating in a TikTok challenge that required taking tranquillizers without falling asleep.

TikTok to prevent under-18 users from using beauty filters

On November 28, 2024, TikTok decided to implement restrictions to prevent users under the age of 18 from using beauty filters.

Users under the age of 18 will soon be prevented from using effects that enhance their beauty and attractiveness. The change is aimed at protecting minors from mental health problems.

Beauty filters are applied to real-time video images to enhance physical attractiveness. Common effects of such filters include smoothing skin texture and enlarging eyes or narrowing the nose. A filter called ‘Bold Glamour’ turns anyone into a supermodel.

However, according to the company, the age restriction will not apply to filters that are designed for entertainment purposes.

TikTok will also use machine learning technologies that can help identify accounts belonging to children under the age of 13.

Canadian govt asks TikTok to shut operations for security reasons

On November 8, 2024, Canada said Wednesday it is shutting down TikTok’s offices in the country following a security review, but people will still be allowed to use the popular video-sharing app.

“The government is taking action to address the specific national security risks related to ByteDance Ltd.’s operations in Canada,” Francois-Philippe Champagne, minister of innovation, science and industry, said in a statement.

Ottawa is not imposing restrictions on Canadian users of TikTok, which has come under scrutiny for its ownership under China-based ByteDance.

“The decision to use a social media application or platform is a personal choice,” Champagne said.

Canada banned TikTok from all government devices last year and launched a security review of the application.

Champagne said Wednesday’s decision was made in accordance with a law that “allows for the review of foreign investments that may be injurious to Canada’s national security.”

TikTok said it would challenge the decision in court.

“Shutting down TikTok’s Canadian offices and destroying hundreds of well-paying local jobs is not in anyone’s best interest,” said a spokesperson.

“We will challenge this order in court.”

A cyber expert at the University of Ottawa, Michael Geist, said “there may well be good reasons” to ban the app but warned the move could be counterproductive.

“Banning the company rather than the app may actually make matters worse since the risks associated with the app will remain but the ability to hold the company accountable will be weakened,” Geist wrote in an online post.

TikTok also faces a ban in the United States if it remains owned by ByteDance – a threat the company is battling in a federal appeals court, arguing that it violates free speech rights.

The US government alleges that TikTok allows Beijing to collect data and spy on users. It also says the platform is a conduit to spread propaganda.

China and the company strongly deny these claims.

  • Karachi: DIG’s son hits woman’s car while drunk driving

Karachi: DIG’s son hits woman’s car while drunk driving

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rapid Response Force Azfar Mahesar’s son has allegedly hit a woman’s car in a case of drunk driving.

Geo News reports that DIG Azfar Mahesar’s son, Asher Azfar Mahesar, was travelling in a vehicle with a police number plate on it along with a cousin and two Rapid Response Force personnel when he hit a woman’s car in the Garden area of the city.

    The woman is seriously injured.

The local police says that the DIG’s son was intoxicated at the time of the accident. People present at the scene immediately surrounded the vehicle.

However, a government gunman fired in the air to disperse the people.

The police detained Asher Azfar Mahesar, his nephew Mubashir Raza, and two Rapid Response Force personnel and shifted them to the police station, while the injured woman has been shifted to the Civil Hospital.

In March, Ashar Azfar Mahesar’s videos of aerial firing surfaced on social media, after which Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar and  Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon ordered an inquiry against him.

Videos of him brandishing different kinds of weapons and resorting to aerial firing were posted on social media, which invited backlash.
