Bykea rider killed by robbers in Karachi

A Bykea rider was shot dead by robbers in the Gulistan-i-Jauhar area of Karachi on Friday afternoon.

Police and Rescue personnel confirmed that the victim was reportedly seated on his motorbike, waiting for a ride near an under-construction building at Munawwar Chowrangi when armed motorcyclists pointed a gun at him and snatched his cell phone.

CCTV footage that emerged online shows the victim, Fahad Hussain, standing under a tree when two suspects snatched his mobile phone and fled. As the rider resisted, one suspect grabbed him from behind.

As the robbers were fleeing, the victim tried to follow them, but they fatally shot him and rode away.

Forty-year-old Fahad Hussain was originally a resident of Shah Faisal Colony.

Police say the crime scene unit has collected evidence from the scene of the incident.

Area SHO Pir Shabbir Haider said that the rider suffered critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

He said that the victim was associated with the online ride-hailing and delivery service Bykea. Additionally, he stated that the victim’s cell phone could not be found, but his wallet and motorbike were not taken away.

At Jinnah Hospital, the victim’s family demanded justice for Fahad, whose life was cut short in yet another incident of robbery in the city.

The police assured the family of swift action, asserting that they are actively investigating the case.

Police officials told the media that multiple CCTV footage has been obtained, but the clarity of the recordings remains a challenge as they have been captured from a distance.

Efforts are underway to collect closer footage for better identification of the motorcycle-riding suspects involved in the shooting.

Earlier, the murder of 27-year-old Itteqa Moeen, a gold medallist mechanical engineer, created headlines all over the media where the government was also lambasted for the lack of law and order in the city, yet the situation is worrisome.

Notably, the number of individuals killed during robbery incidents in Karachi alone this year has reached 110, highlighting the alarming rise in street crimes in the city.

  • VIDEO: Aleema Khan ‘tears up’ describing Imran Khan’s jail conditions

VIDEO: Aleema Khan ‘tears up’ describing Imran Khan’s jail conditions

Aleema Khan, the sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, can be seen in viral footage from December 13, engaging in an informal conversation with journalists about the conditions of the jail where her brother, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is detained.

When a reporter mentioned that Khan had been in prison for over a year, she corrected him, saying, “It has been a year and a half.”

The reporter then asked if Khan was able to speak to his sons abroad. Aleema replied, “He [Imran Khan] has said this multiple times in front of a judge. Every prisoner is allowed to talk with their family members once a week. Whatever Imran Khan requests, it is refused.”

She also revealed that Khan had asked for warm clothes, “but they don’t provide them to him,” adding, “It’s so cold, especially in his cell, because it’s open from above.”

“The second thing he asks for is a phone call with his sons, but they don’t allow that. If he asks for a book, it takes many days for them to deliver it. He’s asked for these three things, and we struggle to verify whether he’s been given them or not. They create so much confusion and delay,” Aleema remarked.

When a reporter asked if Imran Khan had requested “cornflakes cereal” in prison, she replied, “No, he has never asked for anything like that. He has only asked for these three things: warm clothes, books, and phone calls with his sons.”

Reiterating the conditions of his cell, Aleema further explained that it is open from above, and plastic sheets are placed above in winter. “But as you know, it doesn’t have much effect on the temperature because the breeze passes through.”

“We offered to give him weighted blankets for warmth, but according to prison rules, that’s not allowed. Only comforters are allowed. We will try again to provide him with other things for warmth. He has been given a small fan heater, but it doesn’t help much because of the open cell,” Aleema added.

“They don’t turn on the TV either, and he said that although it only has the PTV channel, he wanted to watch it. But they don’t allow that. The newspapers resumed a few days ago,” stated Aleema Khan.

Imran Khan has also instructed his party leaders and supporters to launch a “civil disobedience” movement starting December 14. He demanded the release of PTI workers and called for the formation of a five-member negotiation team in a statement from his X account.

  • One Governor may change in upcoming days, predicts Faisal Vawda

One Governor may change in upcoming days, predicts Faisal Vawda

Senator Faisal Vawda has predicted on Friday that one of the four provincial Governors may lose their seat over allegations about moral corruption in the coming days.

Appearing on the ARY News programme Aiteraz Hai, former federal minister Faisal Vawda stated that the Governor, who he did not name, might be changed either in “a week or it could take up to two months, but the ball is rolling now.”

On being asked to reveal the name of the Governor, Vawda hinted that he was involved in illegally acquiring money, creating confusion, and damaging the country’s reputation.

It should be mentioned here that the Governor represents the federal government in the provinces.

Currently, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan serves as the Governor of Punjab, while Faisal Karim Kundi holds the Governor’s position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Kamran Tessori is the Governor of Sindh, and Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail represents the federal government as the Governor of Balochistan.

Vawda did not stop there. He went on to pass bizarre remarks about the Chief Ministers (CM) of all four provinces. “Except Murad Ali Shah, all CMs, including Maryam Nawaz, Ali Amin Gandapur and Sarfraz Bugti, are illiterate as they cannot write six lines of English,” he stated.

Following the indictment of the ex-spymaster General (R) Faiz Hamid, Faisal Vawda reiterated that he wouldn’t be surprised if the founder of Pakistan, Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, were tried by a military court.

He stressed that the army filed a charge sheet after collecting all the evidence, adding that it seemed the PTI’s civil disobedience would be postponed under the guise of honouring party martyrs.

Former Director General (DG) of the Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hamid was formally charged with engaging in political activities and misusing his authority as the chief of the country’s premier intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported Tuesday.

On December 13, during the Hum News program FAISLA AAP KA, Vawda asserted that a new social media campaign would be launched by the PTI in which Pakistan would be mentioned by showing footage of Syrian prisoners.

On the issue of PTI’s committee on negotiations, he maintained that the government must hold talks and the PTI should join hands. “The head of the government is Nawaz Sharif; (but) he is not making any statement. Imran Khan has good thinking skills and is now asking for talks,” he said.

  • ‘Marrying Faysal Quraishi was an escape,’ says Sana Faysal

‘Marrying Faysal Quraishi was an escape,’ says Sana Faysal

What leads someone to make a life-changing decision during a difficult time? For Sana Faysal, it was marrying actor Faysal Quraishi.

Appearing as a guest on her husband’s podcast, Sana opened up about her struggles during a difficult time in her life. She shared how she was going through a very tough period and felt like she needed an escape back during divorce from her first husband.

“At the time of my divorce, I was going through a very tough period. To be honest… I was looking for an escape. I married Faysal as an escape for myself… to get out of here,” she said.

Sana admitted that she started having doubts shortly after their marriage.

“After marriage… just a few days later… I started thinking, ‘what have I done?’… I didn’t understand [it]. I called my sister… I think. She told me that she didn’t get it either,” Sana said, adding that she then called her maternal aunt and cousin, with whom she had a little conversation about it all.

Sana also talked about the wedding ceremony. “We had a very simple wedding, and it was in Ramazan…”

Reflecting on societal perceptions, she highlighted the judgement that often follows celebrity marriage, particularly when one has been previously divorced.

“I don’t know if it’s the same here… but in Punjab, the culture is completely different. If someone comes from a showbiz family, and if their previous marriages didn’t work out, we tend to think that the person is at fault. If the fault is theirs, how did it go on for 14 years?”

Sana Faysal and Faysal Quraishi tied the knot in 2010.

Earlier, renowned actor Faysal Quraishi’s wife, Sana Faisal, has given a karara response to an Instagram user who asked about her age.

Faysal Quraishi and his wife, Sana Faysal, are often seen sharing pictures with each other on their social media.

Faysal Quraishi shared a collaborative post on Instagram with his wife in which he congratulated his companion on their wedding anniversary and referred to her as ‘Sana Ji.’

He captioned his post, “14 years of memories, laughter, and tears. I’m so grateful to share it all with you. Happy anniversary.”

In response, well-known personalities congratulated the couple on their wedding anniversary and wished them well for the future.

All the same, a female user asked Sana Faysal about her age, “How much older are you than Faysal Bhai?” To which Sana Faysal responded, “I am 10 to 12 years older. I hope your burning chest has cooled down.”

Suddenly, Sana Faysal’s response went viral, being shared by many other pages.

While some users are appreciating Sana Faysal’s answer, others believe it was a simple question to which Sana could have given a simple answer.

Video: Saim Ayub stops Abbas Afridi from taking a single run in last over

A video of Pakistan’s cricket team’s aggressive batter, Saim Ayub, stopping Abbas Afridi from taking a single has gone viral on social media.

Ayub played a brilliant innings of 98 not out in the second T20 match against South Africa in Centurion on Friday, missing out on his century by just two runs.

Pakistan batted first, scoring 206 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted overs, setting South Africa a target of 207 runs to win.

The young batter played an unbeaten knock of 98 runs off 57 balls, which included 11 fours and five sixes.

Cricket fans have criticised Abbas Afridi and Irfan Khan for missing Saim’s century by two runs, with many suggesting they should have taken a single.

The video of Saim stopping Abbas Afridi from taking a single is now going viral on social media.

In the 19.4th over of Pakistan’s innings, Saim is at the non-striker’s end and tells Abbas, ‘Don’t take a single now.’ Afridi then hits a boundary, leaving Saim two runs short of his T20 hundred.

  • ICC, India accept PCB demands on Champions Trophy: reports

ICC, India accept PCB demands on Champions Trophy: reports

Indian media has claimed that Champions Trophy 2025 will be held under the hybrid model, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) and India have accepted all the conditions of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

With the approval of the hybrid model, the Champions Trophy matches will be held in Pakistan and Dubai. An unofficial meeting of the board was held in which the ICC approved the hybrid model, and an agreement, in principle, was reached between Pakistan and India, Indian media claims this.

The Pakistan team will not go to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup, while the Pak-India league match will be played in Colombo.

Pakistan will host the ICC Women’s tournament after 2027, while the issue of the knockout matches of the 2026 T20 World Cup will be decided later. No written agreement has been reached.

The final decision regarding the Champions Trophy will be made today (Saturday). A three- year fusion model is likely to be approved by the ICC.

Under the fusion formula, Pakistan is talking to Dubai, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka for five matches, while Indian media has named Dubai as the venue.

According to sources, the ICC offered Pakistan compensation for the transfer of matches from Pakistan; however, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi did not talk about additional compensation at the meeting.

Sources say that negotiations were held between the Pakistan and Indian cricket boards to finalize the matter. Almost all the issues have been finalized in the talks. A formal announcement is expected today after all stakeholders’ approval.

ICC sources say that discussions are ongoing on the issue of the Champions Trophy, and an announcement will be made through a press release as soon as the issues are finalized. The whole matter will come to light in the next 24 hours.

Australia, New Zealand and South Africa react to Champions Trophy deadlock

With the deadlock between Pakistan, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the hosting of Champions Trophy 2025 continuing, Australian, New Zealand and South African cricket boards have reacted to the impasse.

According to reports, the three cricketing boards have expressed displeasure and asked the ICC to put an end to uncertainty surrounding the event. They have said that all boards should be given an update and the matter should be resolved at the earliest.

“The schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025 has not been announced yet; the ICC should now decide what will happen in the Champions Trophy and the next tournaments. If India is refusing to go to Pakistan this time, it [ICC] can forbid it from going to any country in the future. A solution should be found for this,” reports quoted a joint statement as saying.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) maintains that Pakistan will not back down from its position until the BCCI accepts the demands in writing. The Pakistani government does not want to take any kind of risk this time and the matter will move forward if a written guarantee is received, reports said.

Champions Trophy 2025 is about to start in February in Pakistan, but the schedule has yet to be decided.

‘I can’t even sleep at night’: Nimra Khan on social media trolling

The pressure to keep up the perfect image on social media is tough for famous people, and actress Nimra Khan is no exception. Dealing with constant judgement and criticism , the Bhool actress has opened up about how tolling has impacted her mental health

Rabbina Shirjeel said to her, “On social media, you shared happy pictures, but you didn’t share what you were actually going through at the time. Do you think, as a society, we have become too dependent on the idea that we must always share happy pictures?”

Nimra Khan replied, “Tell me, all of you sitting here, don’t you all have your own struggles in life? Everyone is fighting their own battles. Would you feel like opening social media at 11 or 12 at night and seeing everyone’s struggles? People prefer to see happy, uplifting content to distract themselves. So, I feel that society doesn’t offer us acceptance. If you post something good, you’ll receive good feedback. But if you share something that reflects your pain, you’ll be met with endless judgments. “

The Blind Love actress also discussed how people’s comments on her social media posts can affect her deeply.

“During this phase of my life, I learned that people’s perspectives are not my reality. That’s why I don’t even open the comment section. What I wear, how I feel, I know my reasons for it. But people don’t know, and they’ll comment on it in a second. People think we are unaffected by it, but it does affect us a lot. Sometimes, I can’t even sleep at night because of it,”  Nimra said.

Nimra also addressed a deeper issue close to her heart, sharing a message about personal safety.

“I just wanted to tell people on social media, ‘Don’t focus on me. Focus on the crime.’ Every girl has the right to walk freely just like men roam freely on the streets. Why do we need to leave the country to achieve this sense of security? We should have it here, within our own country, within our own boundaries, she said

Nimra then talked about the pressure to present personal life on social media.

“Sometimes, it’s a good distraction, a positive one, but is it beneficial for you or them? You may deny your pain for a while, but eventually, you heal and move forward. But still, there is pressure from social media — it has become a trend to show that everything is happy and perfect. There’s this added pressure that you must look happy and act happy,” she concluded.

  • ‘I didn’t accept it’; Usama Khan rejected THIS famous drama

‘I didn’t accept it’; Usama Khan rejected THIS famous drama

What makes a rising star turn down a promising role in a highly anticipated project? Actor Usama Khan opened up about his surprising decision to reject drama serial Noor Jahan and how that choice shaped his path to becoming the lead in Ghair.

Appearing as a guest on Fuchsia, the Sunn Mere Dil  actor shared how his role in drama serial Ghair came about and even revealed that he turned down a key offer for another major project.

Usama Khan said, “I was also offered Noor Jahan, but I didn’t accept it. I felt there were too many people involved. And even now, I feel like I’m on the right path. But it was a good story. I told Mussadiq Malik (Noor Jahan director) that it was a good story, and I’ve always wanted to work with him.”

The Qarz-e- Jahan actor shared that he wasn’t initially planning to take on the drama Ghair but conversations with costars Ushna Shah and director Angeline changed everything.

“I was doing a telefilm with Angeline. I wasn’t going to do the telefilm initially, but then I had a conversation with Angeline, and she said, ‘Do it.’ Then Ushna asked, ‘What are you doing these days?’ I replied, ‘Nothing.’ She said, ‘Then let’s do a drama.’ From there, Ghair came into the picture. She spoke to Nadeem Bhai, and Nadeem Bhai gave me Ghair,” Usama Khan explained.

When asked which character he was offered in Noor Jahan, Usama playfully replied, “I wouldn’t tell you.”

Earlier, in a recent interview with Mahwish Ajaz, the Sunn Mere Dil actor opened up about playing the role in Ghair and how fame has changed his life.

Talking about his character, Usama explained, “When I discussed it with Yasir Bhai (Director), we thought of taking Salis out of the category of ‘hero’. If we make Salis a hero, then tomorrow someone might accuse him, saying that he got married and the next day he will fall in love with someone else. Their chemistry will develop, and it shouldn’t be like that with Salis. I think we have overdone the idea of red and green flags. So, I think it’s always like this, when we see a story, everyone is the hero of their own story.”

Usama Khan described his character Salis as indecisive and “a mama’s boy”.

“Salis is someone who can’t make decisions, an indecisive person, he is a mama boy. If you look at people in his age group, you’ll notice that the clothes they wear are very colorful. Normally, people who are sorted don’t wear such colorful things. They prefer black, white, and grey – those are the sorted colors. All of Sali’s energy, his brain energy, is probably spent in his wardrobe, and he hasn’t paid much attention elsewhere,” Khan added.
