    Ronaldo’s YouTube channel makes place in Guinness World Records

    After the world of football, Cristiano Ronaldo has set his eyes on conquering YouTube. His YouTube channel, ‘UR Cristiano,’ won the Golden Button just a day after its launch, but now he has set a Guinness World Record by becoming the most subscribed channel in its first 24 hours.

    His channel gained 100,000 subscribers in just 22 minutes, one million in 47 minutes, 10 million subscribers in 11 hours and 31 minutes, and 50 million subscribers in just one week.

    In November 2022, he made history by becoming the first person to reach 500 million followers on the platform. He now has more than one billion followers across social media platforms.

    Terrorist organisation Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Thursday released footage of a senior army officer and his brothers, were kidnapped from Dera Ismail Khan on Wednesday, and set out demands for the release of the Colonel.

    The officer and his brothers were kidnapped from a mosque in their native area where they were receiving condolences on the death of their father.

    In the videos, two of the abducted men first assured viewers that the men were “safe and sound, and far away from government-controlled areas.”

    “We are in the custody of the Taliban. We request the government to accept their demands as soon as possible to ensure our release,” said the two men.

    Interestingly, both men emphasised to their relatives not to post anything about their kidnapping on social media and only contact higher authorities to accept TTP’s demands.

    Journalist Iftikhar Firdous revealed that the TTP has demanded the release of several TTP affiliates, including Latif Mehsud, who was jailed by the United States in Bagram in 2013, and Muslim Khan, who is the former spokesman of TTP in Swat.

    Firdous also stated that Rs 30 million in ransom and some more TTP affiliates are included in the “demanded prisoners swap.”

    In the footage, two militants can be seen standing behind the victims, bearing rifles.

    There has been no official statement by the ISPR.

    An army officer and two of his brothers were kidnapped on August 28 from Dera Ghazi Khan by unknown men while they were meeting with people who had come to offer condolences on their father’s death, Dawn News has reported.

    The officer’s two brothers were serving in the Cantonment Board Head Office, Rawalpindi, and the other was working for the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

    Reportedly, they were in a mosque in Mohalla Khadr Khel of Kalachi tehsil, receiving people who’d come to offer their condolences on their father’s demise, when suspected militants came and forcefully took them away.

    The three officers had come to their ancestral land for funeral prayers of their father, which was offered on Tuesday.

    A few weeks ago, in a separate incident on August 1, a private security company’s van carrying Rs40 million was hijacked by armed suspects. The militants later released the hostages and fled with the cash.

    Likewise, on April 27, District and Sessions Judge South Waziristan Shakir Ullah Marwat was abducted by unidentified kidnappers on Dera Ismail Khan’s Tank Road; however, he was later released. Journalist Azaz Syed alleged that the judge was released after the KP government paid five crores to terrorists as extortion.

    PCB sells Gaddafi Stadium naming rights for one billion rupees

    The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sold Gaddafi Stadium’s naming rights to Punjab Bank for one billion rupees, with a five-year contract.

    Before the Champions Trophy 2025, PCB upgraded the stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. A tender was issued for the rights to rename the Lahore stadium.

    A five-year contract has been agreed upon with the Bank of Punjab for one billion rupees. The name of Gaddafi Stadium will now be changed to the said bank. Karachi’s naming rights were sold for 45 crore rupees under a five-year deal; it is now called the National Bank Cricket Arena.

    The current PCB administration has signed a contract with Lahore that is more than double the amount compared to Karachi. Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi has made more plans to bring money to domestic cricket.

    It is a common practice worldwide to name sports stadiums after sponsors. Many cricket venues in Australia and England are also named after sponsors.

    400 threats sent to CJP by religious party over Mubarik Sani case verdict, says Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology

    Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Allama Raghib Hussain Naeemi has revealed that Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa received 400 threatening messages from a religious party over the Mubarak Sani case verdict, The News has reported.

    Naeemi said that there is no concept of lynching in the law, and there are four different punishments for different blasphemy laws.

    He explained that according to section (295-C), death penalty for blasphemy of the Holy Prophet (SAW), life imprisonment for the desecration of the Holy Quran (295-B), three-year imprisonment for violation of the Imtana-e-Qadianiat Ordinance and seven-year imprisonment in case of insulting Sahabah-e-Karaam RA (298-A).

    He added that people needed more time to be ready to listen to another view on religious matters.

    Earlier, the Apex court ‘corrected’ its retrospective verdict mistake by expunging the paragraph that gave permission to the Ahmadiya community to preach their beliefs.

    Natasha’s husband, CEO Gul Ahmed Energy, granted pre-arrest bail

    Sindh High Court (SHC) has granted a seven-day protective pre-arrest bail to Danish Iqbal, the husband of Natasha Danish, the suspect in the Karsaz accident case.

    The court directed Danish Iqbal to furnish a solvent surety of Rs50,000 or surrender himself before the trial court before September 4.

    Danish Iqbal, through his counsel, told the high court that even though the suspect had been arrested, the applicant had also been named during the investigation. His lawyer contended that the police had been raiding Danish’s home and other places to arrest him while there was nothing to connect him with the alleged offence.

    The lawyer contended that investigating officer of the case sent letters to provide documents about ownership of the vehicle registered with Danish’s company and they were provided to the officer but he again sent a notice under Section 160 of the Pakistan Penal Code for similar purpose and with an ulterior motive.

    Danish’s counsel sought a two-week protective bail to enable the applicant to approach the IO and join the investigation.

    After a preliminary hearing, Justice Muhammad Saleem Jesser, in his order, said: “Prima facie, without dilating upon the merits and demerits of the case, applicant Danish Iqbal, son of Iqbal Ali Mohammad is now granted protective pre-arrest bail in crime No.229/2024, under Sections 320, 337-G, 279, 247 PPC read with Section 322 PPC, registered with PS Bahadurabad, Karachi, for seven days subject to furnishing his solvent surety in the sum of Rs.50,000 and PR bond in the like amount to the satisfaction of Nazir of this court”.

    It added that this bail shall cease to have effect on September 4 or whenever the applicant approaches/surrenders before the court having jurisdiction, whichever is earlier.

    The prosecution had claimed that Natasha Danish has been accused of recklessly driving the Toyota Land Cruiser in an accident near Karsaz on August 19.

    Adiala Jail authorities refute PTI’s claims of denying facilities to Imran Khan

    The Adiala jail administration on August 30 refuted reports about withdrawing facilities for former Prime Minister Imran Khan as party leaders insist that he is facing difficulties during incarceration.

    The superintendent of Adiala jail has said that all facilities are still available to the founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as per the jail manual, Geo News reported.

    “He is supplied one English newspaper daily. He has an exercise machine and a place to walk,” he said.

    Furthermore, Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, have been allocated a separate kitchen, and prison staff are available 24/7 for Khan’s security.

    A few days ago, Khan alleged that there were rats in Bushra Bibi’s cells, while the jail superintendent denied these reports, saying, “There is no veracity in the news of an open sewer in Khan’s cell or rats in Bushra’s.”

    According to the jail official, Khan has also been provided with a television and books to read.

    PTI Senator Muhammad Ali Khan Saif earlier claimed that Imran Khan was being deprived of many jail facilities, saying, “The PTI founder is suffering from ear pain. He’s not being given an electric toothbrush and a dumbbell for exercise.”

    The President also awarded the athlete the Hilal-e-Imtiaz. The ceremony was held at the President’s House in Islamabad.

    On this occasion, President Asif Ali Zardari said, “Arshad Nadeem made the country proud by setting an Olympic record and also inspired countless young athletes of the country.”

    Appreciating Arshad Nadeem’s outstanding success, continuous hard work, and dedication, the President said, “Scholarships should also be given to the children of the players.     The star Javelin thrower won the gold medal by throwing 92.97 meters in the javelin throw competition of the Paris Olympics 2024, winning Pakistan’s first medal in the event after 32 years.
