A post-mortem report on a seven-year-old boy found dead inside a bag in the Karachi’s Landhi area confirmed evidence of rape, Police Surgeon Sumaiya Tariq said on Tuesday.

After the victim, identified as Saad Ali, went to buy sweets from a nearby shop on September 18, he went missing. Later, his body was discovered stuffed in a bag left at a garbage dump near Lal Mazar in Landhi.

The police surgeon stated that the post-mortem report revealed a blow to the head which killed Ali, adding that samples from various body organs have been sent for further chemical examination to ascertain the facts.

Meanwhile, the victim’s funeral prayers were offered in Landhi 36-B, where the family lives.

Ali’s father Salman, while speaking to the media, stated that after receiving no help from the police despite filing a report, the family searched for the boy for days.

He said that the family was left with no choice but to initiate a search for the boy on their own after police did not even bother looking at footage from CCTV cameras near the garbage dump where the boy was found.

Calling for the immediate arrest of those involved in the abduction and killing of his son, Salman also demanded departmental action against police officials, who, according to him, failed to respond to the family’s calls for help in finding the boy.

Speaking at a press conference, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Landhi stated that the suspects, identified as Hasan and Suhail, have confessed to the crime.

Bullet-riddled bodies of three transgender persons found in Karachi

The remains of three transgender individuals were found in bushes near the Nagori Cooperative Housing Society, adjacent to the M-9 Motorway, in Karachi. Their identities were later confirmed through fingerprint analysis.

Reports quoted authorities as saying that the victims had been shot, with two receiving gunshot wounds to the chest, and the third to the head. According to Malir SSP Abdul Khaliq Pirzada, evidence collected from the scene suggests the shootings occurred at that specific location.

Two bodies were located together while the third was found a short distance away, indicating that one might have attempted to escape.

The condition of the bodies suggests they had been killed only hours ago, though the exact time of death will be established by a medical legal officer.

Investigators have retrieved two 9mm shell casings, a flashlight, tissue rolls and other items from the crime scene. The bullet casings will be analysed to determine if one or more firearms were involved.

SSP Pirzada said there were no surveillance cameras in the area but they were reviewing footage from nearby locations. He also said that there was evidence suggesting the victims had visited the site in the past.

No mobile phones or identification documents were discovered on the bodies.

As per the details of identification, among the deceased were 20-year-old Alex Riyasat, known as Aini, from Sheikhupura; 28-year-old Muhammad Jeel, known as Sameera, from Khairpur; and Asma.

The Gender Interactive Alliance (GIA), an organisation advocating for transgender rights, has released a statement following the incident. It said that the three victims resided in areas surrounding Bilawal Goth and Safora Town.

The group said that the incident highlighted a disturbing trend of targeted violence against the transgender community, portraying it as an attempt to intimidate the entire community.

It called on the Sindh government and police to conduct an open investigation and make prompt arrests. They also demanded the creation of a dedicated protection unit for transgender individuals and the implementation of stricter laws against hate crimes.

In the aftermath of the killings, members of the transgender community protested outside Jinnah Hospital. The demonstration was led by activist Bindiya Rana, who denounced the murders and announced that protests would take place across the province.

Rana said that the incident had instilled fear within the community, raising concerns about whether they should refrain from leaving their homes altogether.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah has instructed the provincial inspector general to immediately arrest the killers and submit a report on the situation.

  • Court hands six-year term to man for blackmail through fake Facebook accounts

Court hands six-year term to man for blackmail through fake Facebook accounts

A judicial magistrate in Karachi has sentenced a man to six years in prison for creating fake Facebook accounts in his friend’s name and misusing them to share inappropriate photographs after she rejected his proposal to get engaged.

Judicial Magistrate (East) Yusra Ashfaq convicted Abdullah Saleem under Sections 20 (Dignity of a Natural Person), 21 (Modesty of a Natural Person and Minor) and 24 (Cyberstalking) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) 2016, awarding him two years’ imprisonment for each offence.

“It is clear that the prosecution has successfully proven the charge against the accused. The prosecution has demonstrated that the accused tarnished the dignity of the complainant and her family, violated the complaint’s modesty, display videos without her consent, and displayed them publicly,” the court observed.

According to the ruling, Abdullah Saleem’s actions were motivated by resentment and frustration after the complainant’s family turned down a formal engagement because of his anger issues.

State prosecutor Sheraz Rajpar claims that the complainant stated in her testimony that she had previously been friends with the man but broke up due to his inappropriate behavior.

In order to blackmail her and her family, he later made fake Facebook profiles in her name and posted her personal pictures.

The complainant further stated that the “accused admitted to being behind those accounts and threatened her that she would never be able to marry anyone else, even going so far as to say he would force her to commit suicide.”

Sheraz added that her testimony was corroborated by a verification report, screenshots, IP logs, WhatsApp records and a detailed forensic report. He said that during the inquiry, the accused handed over his phone to investigators, and a forensic examination confirmed that the “fake accounts and transmissions were linked to the accused’s number and IP address.”

The court denied the accused’s defense, pointing out that he had not presented sufficient evidence to back up his claims of false implication and denial of the charges.

The case had been filed under Sections 20, 21, and 24 of PECA at the Cyber Crime Cell of the Federal Investigation Agency.

Family dispute turns deadly as woman burnt alive in Dhamial

A 50-year-old woman was burnt alive after being doused with kerosene, allegedly by her brother-in-law in the Rawalpindi’s Dhamial area police said on Sunday.

The suspect was taken into custody after initially claiming the woman’s injuries were caused by a compressor explosion.

Police later confirmed the woman had been set on fire two days earlier. A murder case has been registered.

City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani has ordered prompt action, including instructions on arresting the suspect and a case to be registered.

A 23-year-old resident of Quaid-i-Azam Colony in Dhamial named Mohammad Shahzad Ahmad Bhatti submitted the FIR, claiming that he was at work when his uncle called to tell him that his mother had been burned in a compressor explosion and sent to CMH hospital.

Shahzad discovered his mother Shahzia Farooq unconscious and severely burnt when he arrived at the emergency room.

His sister later told him that their aunt Hajra Adeel had quarreled with both her and their mother before threatening to kill them.

She allegedly forced his sister out of the house, locked the door and shortly after, neighbors heard screams coming from within.

The neighbors unlocked the door and discovered Shahzia engulfed in flames, while Hajra was reportedly changing her clothes. When asked how the woman had caught fire, Hajra claimed it was due to a compressor explosion.

Shahzad said that his aunt intentionally burned his mother alive, blaming it on a domestic dispute. He said quarrels often broke out as his father managed household expenses, leading to repeated tensions between his parents and his aunt.

Initial police investigations confirmed that the woman was doused with kerosene and set alight.

CPO Hamdani condemned the act, saying crimes against women will not be tolerated and that the accused would be punished according to law.
