Forced out of her car at 2 AM’: Zoya Nasir reveals mother kidnapping story

Imagine being forced out of your car at 2 AM and turning a terrifying situation into a story of forgiveness. Actress Zoya Nasir’s mother did exactly that.

In an interview on Hasna Mana Hai, the Noor Jahan star revealed how her mother turned a dangerous situation into a story of empathy and forgiveness.

Zoya Nasir said, “My mother was kidnapped near our home. They forced her out of her car, but she calmly told them, ‘I don’t know my way around here, and I might get lost or hurt. Please drop me near my house.’”

This happened around 2 AM while her mother was returning home. Despite the danger, Zoya’s mother insisted on staying in the car and refused to leave.

While the dacoits demanded she get out, her mother stayed calm and rationally handled the situation.

“At the time, my mother was talking to her uncle on the phone. Cleverly, she threw her phone under the car seat and narrated everything loudly, ensuring the police could trace her location. She described landmarks like a nearby mosque and a canal, subtly signaling her location,” Zoya Nasir said.

The police were able to trace her location and rescue her. The car was recovered, and the dacoits were eventually caught. However, the story took an unexpected turn.

Zoya Nasir explained, “It turned out that they were students facing dire circumstances—one had lost his father, another had been cheated out of property, and one was struggling with unemployment. Despite their crime, my mother forgave them.”

The story didn’t end there. Zoya’s mother surprised everyone by helping one of the dacoits with his sister’s wedding.

“She even helped arrange the wedding for one of their sisters, providing a dowry and gifts,” the Kaffara actress shared.

The family later laughed at the unexpected twist of receiving pickles from one of the dacoits’ families.

Earlier, Zoya Nasir appeared as a guest on Up Close and Unfiltered on Mashion’s YouTube channel; she opened up about what gives her butterflies in a relationship and how she defines love. The host asked, “How do you know when you are in love?”

Zoya Nasir replied, “I think you know, when you look forward to their messages or thinking about them makes you smile. You get butterflies when it’s time to meet them and you really think about them and what they would like and they make you feel special and you feel special. I think that’s love.”

Talking about love at first sight, she remarked.

“I don’t think I can fall in love at first sight. Knowing the person takes time,” the actress added.

Ahad Raza Mir talks about collaborations with top actresses

When it comes to on-screen chemistry and stellar performances, actor Ahad Raza Mir has had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented actresses in the industry.

During a recent appearance at LUMS University, the Ehd-e-Wafa actor shared insights into his collaborations with leading actresses including Sajal Aly, Ramsha Khan and Danaeer Mobeen.

“I have worked with actresses like Ramsha Khan, Sajal Aly and Dananeer Mobeen, each experience has been unique, and I’ve had a different journey with each of them,” Ahad remarked.

During the session, Ahad discussed how working dynamics influence a project’s narrative and production.

“The energy between an actor and actress on screen can either enhance or shape the story, chemistry between the cast is key, and working with such talented actresses has always been a rewarding experience for me,” he shared.

Ahad Raza Mir has starred in drama such as Khamosiyan, Yakeen Ka Safar, Ehd-e-Wafa, Dhoop Ki Deewar, Hum Tum.

Earlier, the Yakeen Ka Safar actor opened up about upcoming projects in an interview with Gloss Etc by Maliha Rehman.

In Meem Se Mohabbat, Ahad Raza Mir will star opposite Dananeer Mobeen, marking their first on-screen pairing.

“It’s lighthearted with a little bit of a heavy undertone. It’s the kind of story I’ve been looking for because it’s multi-dimensional… has its moments of depth. Not to say that lighthearted work doesn’t have depth, but this has something worth exploring, and that’s why I signed up. It’s written by Farhat Ishtiaq, and I have trouble saying no to her scripts. Her storytelling is phenomenal. Every time I read or hear one of her stories, I get hooked.”

Speaking about his much anticipated Netflix project Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, the Ehd-e Wafa actor reflected on the timing and significance of the series.

“I think I’m waiting for ’Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo’. I’m hopeful and all, but everything has its time, you know? It had to happen at this time, and that’s when it did. I think there are reasons for that. There must be a reason behind it in the cosmos. That’s kind of how I’ve been living life anyway now. I think there’s no point in worrying as long as we, as human beings, think that way… like there’s a greater plan for everything. That’s the way I look at it. I’m just happy it’s coming.”

Ahad Raza Mir’s future plans also include branching out beyond his established relationship with Hum TV to explore new opportunities with other channels.

He’s excited to see how working with different networks will change his experience as an actor.

“I am moving on to other channels as well and I’m excited for that… just to kind of see what the difference is, and obviously, I think every channel also has their own mandate of the kind of content that they want to do. So I’m excited to see myself in that position.”

  • Meem Se Mohabbat exposes workplace harassment, Roshi’s struggle for empowerment

Meem Se Mohabbat exposes workplace harassment, Roshi’s struggle for empowerment

Every week, Meem Se Mohabbat brings us a story of relatable challenges, workplace dynamics, and the struggles of a young girl finding her place in a complicated world.

However, in this week’s episodes, the drama features some compelling scenes.

Roshi’s journey becomes more relatable and less exaggerated, which is a pleasing development. Talha, too, stands out as a strict boss.

Shariq pressures Roshi to go to a party, and her actions – defiant yet harmless, gullible yet relatable – warm us up to her character development.

Dananeer’s acting has been impressive in recent episodes, as she balances being a clever young girl who gets into trouble because she believes in herself. Youth is a double-edged sword, achieving yet juggling between being smart and silly, and Roshi is that juggler in Meem Se Mohabbat.

Some of her actions may seem like big plans made in good faith, such as calling Dr. Gopal to reschedule the appointment. Others might appear frivolous, like sending off that email, or even defiant, like becoming friends with Shariq, who is any young girl’s worst nightmare.

Meem Se Mohabbat is something of a mix between Haseena Moin’s Ankahi and Dhoop Kinare: an angry boss hero and a bumbling young heroine who becomes courageous until she makes a big mistake and the handsome boss swoops in to save the day.

The scenario where Shariq manipulates Roshi into attending a shady party is well-executed and believable. Even though a young girl may seem headstrong and sure of herself, she failed to confront Shariq for taking credit for her work and was deceived by his birthday plan and late-office scheme.

It is interesting how Talha saved the day when he found Shariq and Roshi working late, removed her from the project, and changed her seating arrangement.

However, as a viewer, one wonders why Shariq faced no consequences. Why didn’t Talha warn him? Shariq’s behaviour should not be tolerated in the office, and he should have been reprimanded.

Talha’s cautionary words to Roshi – “Don’t stay back with anyone, not even me” – were important. He did drop her home, though. How can a girl protect herself in the workplace and still learn to trust? Meem Se Mohabbat raises important questions.

Talha’s relationship with Roshi’s father is a breath of fresh air. His calling her out for lying to Dr Gopal was a necessary moment in the script.

As the drama progresses, we hope Roshi’s character isn’t undermined or made to look foolish just to elevate Talha into a superhero. Talha, the stoic hero, might be a thing of the past unless he shows growth and more depth in his character. Ahad Raza Mir is carrying the show, and we’re enjoying the subtle shades of his performance as he struggles to control his temper while understanding Roshi.

If you’re watching Meem Se Mohabbat, let us know what you think about the recent episodes. Is Roshi’s character and current situation relatable to real life?
