  • Cars in the driveway, peace in the family: Jama Taqseem’s perfect ending

Cars in the driveway, peace in the family: Jama Taqseem’s perfect ending

In one of the best finales of any drama this year, Jama Taqseem’s finale will make you smile and full of warmth with the real happily ever after.

The family gets together for Abba Jee (Javed Shaikh) and Amma’s wedding anniversary and the one part that we were all wary off is settled with the best stinger: Sidra rises like the confident girl we all knew she would.

Even though Faisal, her cousin, wants to marry her, she rejects him, telling him and Zeeshan that she wants to make something of herself and needs no one’s pity to be who she is meant to be.

She rightfully says that she wants to become something for her parents and she and her sister would show that to everyone when they do. And we can’t help but smile and literally clap for her and girls everywhere – this is the episode we were all waiting for.

And the finale doesn’t end there. It allows the bitter Abba Jee to realise that every woman – including his wife – deserves her own house. And only when massively pushed does he agree to live with his son Majeed, whose wife needs her elders with her, making this all about a choice, a choice on who to live with and who not to.

And to his credit, Abba Jee fills our hearts even further, by saying that his other son cannot live with him and can only visit – a silent nod to Zeeshan that Zeeshan’s crime might have been forgiven by the elders but it was and will not be forgotten. All is well but all will not be forgotten that easily.

Qais (Talha Chahour) also apologises to Laila (Mawra Hocane) for not realising what a toll pregnancy can take on a woman and her, and Laila also apologises for being insecure.

The moments in the finale are what truly can move you to tears because you have felt them too. The cars in a driveway, highlighted to show a full house, the family whatsapp group where everyone is connected, watching your kids laugh and play with each other and remembering the bad times that in memory, become the good times like stealing milk.

It is a beautiful ode to family and when it ends, you will want to call your family, or write in your family whatsapp group because it teaches you that there is nothing except family, understanding, and respect. And that is what life is all about. Letting others live and living with them in love and harmony.

  • Ducky Bhai reveals how much he earned from his comeback vlogs

Ducky Bhai reveals how much he earned from his comeback vlogs

Pakistani YouTuber Saad ur Rehman, better known as Ducky Bhai, has revealed that authorities have stripped him of full access to his YouTube channel, leaving him unable to earn from his content.

“I don’t have access to my YouTube channel. I have only editor access. There are no details regarding my revenue because I don’t have access to my own channel,” he explained in a vlog posted Thursday.

The content creator now has limited editing privileges similar to what channel editors typically receive. “I can’t see information regarding earnings. I don’t have my YouTube channel anymore. They have blocked my AdSense,” he added.

Ducky Bhai emphasized the financial impact of these restrictions. “Those who say I made a lot of money from videos should know that I earned zero money.”

He also opened up about troubles at his restaurant, which his associate Areeb (Iqra Kanwal’s husband) currently manages, handling all expenses.

Ducky Bhai’s legal troubles began in August when authorities arrested him at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency accused him of promoting illegal online gambling and betting applications on his social media platforms, alleging that his endorsements persuaded users to invest in apps lacking regulatory approval and caused financial losses to the public.

An FIR named several apps and included video links from his channel that authorities said promoted these platforms.

After his arrest, Rehman was placed under physical remand and later judicial remand as investigators pursued the case under various sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, and the Pakistan Penal Code. Courts initially rejected his bail pleas, and his legal team filed petitions and appeals that led to the Lahore High Court reviewing his case.

In late November, the Lahore High Court granted Ducky Bhai bail against surety bonds of Rs1 million. Authorities released him on November 26 after he spent more than three months in custody.

During and after his detention, Rehman publicly alleged he suffered physical and verbal abuse while in NCCIA custody, describing his experience as deeply stressful and difficult.

  • Social media turns Dhurandhar into hilarious content reels

Social media turns Dhurandhar into hilarious content reels

The release of Dhurandhar’s teaser has led to a wave of humorous content on Pakistani social media, with users turning the film’s spy storyline into parody-driven reels.

Since the teaser surfaced online, Instagram and TikTok creators have been posting short videos centred on the idea of a character operating as a spy in Pakistan. The content focuses on exaggerated scenarios, mock intelligence setups, and everyday situations framed as “covert missions.”

Several reels reference the film’s depiction of Karachi and Lyari, using humour to play off familiar Bollywood tropes. Instead of engaging with the plot seriously, creators have leaned into satire, turning the premise into punchlines and visual gags.

The trend has gained traction across timelines, with users sharing clips, tagging friends, and remixing audio from the teaser to fit local contexts.

Here are some of our favourite content videos that capture how social media is having fun with Dhurandhar’s spy narrative.

  • Oscars to move telecast from TV to YouTube

Oscars to move telecast from TV to YouTube

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has entered into a multi-year agreement that provides YouTube with exclusive global streaming rights for the Oscars starting in 2029. The arrangement will commence with the 101st Academy Awards and continue until 2033. ABC, which has been the ceremony’s broadcaster for many years, will still air the Oscars through 2028.

With this agreement in place, the Oscars will be available live and for free on YouTube globally. This coverage will encompass the red carpet, behind-the-scenes features, and the Governors Ball. Additionally, the ceremony will be available for streaming on YouTube TV for U.S. subscribers. According to sources knowledgeable about the deal, commercials will still be included in the broadcast on YouTube.

Those involved in the agreement state that the initiative aims to improve global access with features such as closed captioning and multiple audio language options.

“We are excited to embark on a dynamic global partnership with YouTube, which will become the future home of the Oscars and our year-round Academy programming,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor in a joint statement. “As an international organization, the Academy seeks to broaden access to our work to reach the largest worldwide audience possible a benefit for our members and the film community.”

They continued, “This partnership will leverage YouTube’s extensive reach and enhance the Oscars and other Academy programming with opportunities for audience engagement while preserving our history. We will celebrate cinema, inspire upcoming generations of filmmakers, and provide global access to our film heritage.”

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan commented that the partnership with the Academy fits well with the platform’s global audience. “The Oscars are one of our key cultural institutions,” he noted. “Collaborating with the Academy to present this artistic and entertainment celebration to viewers worldwide will motivate a new generation of creativity and film enthusiasts while honoring the legacy of the Oscars.”

The Academy had been seeking a new broadcast licensing deal throughout much of 2025. Among the potential bidders were NBCUniversal and Netflix. Sources revealed that YouTube outbid its competitors with an offer exceeding nine figures, surpassing high eight-figure bids from Disney/ABC.

Under the previous agreement, Disney reportedly paid around $100 million each year for the rights to broadcast the Oscars. However, sources indicate that Disney and ABC had been trying to lower license fees due to a decrease in viewership for the ceremony.

Executives at Disney were said to be surprised by YouTube winning the bid, considering that it functions as a standalone streaming platform rather than a combined linear and streaming broadcaster.

Concerns have also been raised regarding YouTube’s absence of a traditional live event production infrastructure. While YouTube has three years to develop a production operation, insiders mentioned that the Academy may maintain full control over the telecast’s production.

The Academy and Disney had previously disagreed on various aspects of the show, such as its duration, award categories, and hosting choices. On YouTube, there are no imposed time constraints for the broadcast.

Several issues remain to be addressed, including how the Academy’s existing international distribution agreements will be impacted and whether the YouTube license fee will substitute for revenue generated from global broadcast deals. It is also uncertain how viewership will be measured, as YouTube does not adhere to the same reporting standards as traditional television.

  • Meesha Shafi to release ‘Sachay Loki’ with Indian singer Talwiinder

Meesha Shafi to release ‘Sachay Loki’ with Indian singer Talwiinder

Megastar Meesha Shafi has revealed that her upcoming single “Sachay Loki” will debut on Friday in collaboration with Indian singer-songwriter Talwiinder. The announcement was made after a series of social media posts that sparked curiosity about the featured artist.

The singer confirmed the collaboration on Tuesday, putting an end to over a week of strategic teasing on Instagram.

On December 8, Shafi posted photos from the song’s cover shoot and invited followers to guess who her collaborator was, with a track by Talwiinder playing in the background. A follow-up post on December 16 disclosed the song’s title and release date, with the collaborator’s name.
The confirmation made it clear that Talwiinder is the featured artist for “Sachay Loki”. The cover art depicts Shafi and Talwiinder standing back to back against a solar eclipse. Shafi is dressed in an outfit with a chain headpiece, while Talwiinder is adorned with face paint and a bandana.

The collaboration adds to Shafi’s previous work that spans across borders. She appeared in Bollywood earlier in her career, including a supporting role in the 2012 biopic “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”. Her work since then has focused on music, leading up to the release of her album “Khilnay Ko”“ in May.

After the album launch, Shafi submitted “Khilnay Ko” for consideration in three categories for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Talwiinder’s collaborations have primarily centered around music, including projects that have reached listeners in Pakistan. He teamed up with Hasan Raheem on the song “Wishes”, which ranked among Pakistan’s 10 most-streamed songs in both 2024 and 2025. This track secured the second position in 2024 and fifth in 2025 on national streaming charts.

He also collaborated with Afusic and Ali Soomro on a version of “Pal Pal”, which was recognized as Pakistan’s sixth most-streamed song on Spotify this year. These collaborations have enhanced Talwiinder’s popularity among Pakistani audiences ahead of “Sachay Loki”.

In an Instagram post confirming the collaboration, Shafi included a line in Punjabi alongside the cover art. The post officially validated the pairing after days of speculation from followers who were trying to deduce the collaborator through previous posts.

The single “Sachay Loki” is set to be released on Friday.

  • Kafeel is fast, fatal and exactly the drama we were waiting for

Kafeel is fast, fatal and exactly the drama we were waiting for

Kafeel hits all the right, fast paced notes we were hoping for in the first two episodes of the new drama starring Emad Irfani and Sanam Saeed.

Kafeel means ‘responsible’ and from the get-go, we’re hooked. Zeba (Sanam Saeed) is the studious, happy college going girl from a wholesome family, loving parents, a brother, a younger sister and it’s clear the family is living life just the way they want.

But kya karein is maashre ka? Zeba is taken in by her friend who comes to take her final exams, hitched in a minute and back from her honeymoon, incredibly happy because her husband is good-looking and loaded. And all the young college girls can’t get enough. Asking for a prince, you know that Zeba is going to do something stupid for love, which is what young, college girls do end up doing.

It’s also a credit to the writer that the story is set in the past – a time with no cell phones, landlines with extensions, when hand-written notes are the only way to get attention.

Riding on the high of finding her love, Zeba goes to a party, meets a guy she likes, who writes his number for her on a handkerchief and millennials are like…we know how this goes. Zeba is starstruck, especially because the guy can sing, and she overhears the guy is friends with her friend’s prince-like husband (meaning he isn’t poor), and she’s all for it.

Her father isn’t. When Zeba’s mother gets a rishta for her (of course, a guy with the same name as the person Zeba meets at the party), her mother is set on the shaadi. Her father isn’t. The happy go-lucky, sincerely sweet father, wants his oldest daughter to study and do her masters before he marries her off.

The handkerchief is the killer, the big stab wound. Zeba’s mother finds it, and that’s that. Zeba has to marry because as her mother puts it, when girls start holding love letters in their hands and sleeping, it’s time to get that young blood married off. And unfortunately her father agrees. So does Zeba because she thinks she’s marrying the guy with the same name at that party. But she isn’t. She marries the wrong guy because she believes in destiny – and her parents do no double checks.

The drama is going to be a suspense-filled, dramatic showdown between Jami (Emad Irfani) and Zeba because whatever she seems to be right now, it doesn’t seem like Zeba won’t hold her own.

It also highlights one of the most major problems we face around the world – money. If the guy is loaded to the hilt, the girl is being showered with jewels and clothes and cash, our society believes to marry her off- the guy has money, marry her off, his sister and parents are nice, marry her off, she’ll have a fleet of staff, bags and shoes.

And we tend to ignore any warning signs – background checks, what does he do, is he nice? Money has and always will be the overshadow of love – and if love and money come together, like they did for the dreamy-eyed Zeba, it’s happily ever after. But that doesn’t always happen.

What will happen and what is exciting is that the pace the drama has already set, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to keep us waiting for long. The teaser for the next episode and episode 2 show Emad Irfani in real swag. The guy is owning Jami and we are so here for it. The hair, the look, the absolute contempt – Irfani will be the perfect villain. Watch out Pakistani drama scene – Kafeel is about to take over.
