Janhvi Kapoor reveals biggest regret in life has to do with her mother, Sri Devi

During a recent interview, Janhvi Kapoor admitted that she regrets not making use of the acting skills she inherited from her mother due to the pressure of accusations of nepotism. She acknowledged that it was a mistake to avoid seeking help from her mother during her first film, “Dhadak,” because she wanted to prove herself independently.

Kapoor explained, “I was so conscious during my first film. People said I got the role because I am Sridevi’s daughter. I wanted to stay away from her influence. I thought it would be unfair if I took advantage of her advice. Looking back, I realize it was silly. I didn’t let her help me when she wanted to be there for me as a mother.”

She expressed regret, saying, “Sometimes I wish I had just told her, ‘Mom, I have a shoot, please come quickly.’ Maybe she would have been there. I’ve come to understand that now.”
Janhvi concluded by expressing pride in being the daughter of her parents. She acknowledged that some might debate the morality of her being Sridevi’s daughter, but she believes it’s the truth.

Her younger sister, Khushi Kapoor made her debut in the recently-released teen musical ‘The Archies’. Janhvi shared the advice she has for her: “She did such a wonderful job at being honest. When I was talking to her, I told her to be prepared for hate but not to forget herself in the process. I wish someone said this to me. I wish someone told me to try looking at the people that value you, like you, because believing the bad is always easier.”
“When someone says something bad about you, then believing that person becomes easier. It takes a lot of self-confidence to believe someone who says the right thing. Me and my sister, at times, we question ourselves a lot. I told her ‘Don’t lose yourself, don’t be jaded because you’ve been very honest.’ I felt her performance was very warm, there was a lot of innocence in it. She was not trying to show anything off and it is very difficult to be this real in front of the camera.”

  • Meesha Shafi wins initial defamation case against ARY UK

Meesha Shafi wins initial defamation case against ARY UK

A High Court in the United Kingdom has found that New Vision TV, the broadcaster of ARY UK, has defamed singer Meesha Shafi in a December 2020 broadcast.

The broadcast was aired by ARY UK on December 5, 2020, in which reports were presented by newsreaders and on tickers as evidence.

In a preliminary hearing, the court found out that the channel had deliberately made defamatory remarks by implying that Meesha was failing to comply with court orders over two years and that the channel depicted Shafi as “someone who does not comply with legal requirements laid down by a court and engages in such behaviour repeatedly”.

The channel is now required to submit its defence to the court by January 26, 2024.

“Such an assertion would have the tendency of lowering the claimant [Ms Shafi] in the estimation of right-thinking people generally; it is contrary to the common shared values of our society for people to deliberately ignore court orders requiring them to attend court, and to do so repeatedly over an extended period…The claimant is a very high-profile Pakistani celebrity who has taken a leading role in the advancement of women’s rights, holding herself out as an example to society. Given the claimant’s standing, the words complained of are likely to have a seriously adverse impact on the way the claimant is treated, thus satisfying the seriousness threshold,” the court asserted.

The court examined the evidence in the broadcast, which said: “She [Ms Shafi] came to Pakistan, did her work and left. Singer Meesha Shafi threw the court orders to the winds. She came to Pakistan, recorded a song, and then returned to Canada. She did not present herself in court. Ali Zafar has filed a defamation lawsuit against Meesha.”

In 2018, Ms Shafi accused singer and actor Ali Zafar of sexual harassment, in what was thought to be the first #MeToo moment in Pakistan.

  • UK Judge Rules Prince Harry Was Victim Of Phone Hacking By Mirror Group

UK Judge Rules Prince Harry Was Victim Of Phone Hacking By Mirror Group

A UK judge ruled on Friday that Prince Harry was a victim of phone hacking by journalists working for Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), and awarded the royal £140,600 ($179,600) in damages.

The decision is one in a number of legal cases brought by Harry against British media, with which the Duke of Sussex has long had a turbulent relationship. High Court Justice Timothy Fancourt ruled in favour of Harry in 15 of the 33 sample articles that the prince submitted as evidence in his lawsuit against MGN, which publishes the Mirror, Sunday Mirror and Sunday People.

He concluded that the newspapers carried out “extensive” phone hacking of celebrities between 2006 and 2011, even when a public inquiry into the conduct of the British press was ongoing.

Fancourt said Harry´s personal phone had been targeted between 2003 and 2009 and that the 15 articles were “the product of phone hacking… or the product of other unlawful information gathering”.

“I consider that his phone was only hacked to a modest extent, and that this was probably carefully controlled by certain people at each newspaper,” Fancourt said.

Prince Harry said in a statement read outside court by his lawyer that the ruling was “vindicating and affirming”. A spokesperson for MGN said: “Where historical wrongdoing took place, we apologise unreservedly, have taken full responsibility and paid appropriate compensation.”

Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, became the first British royal in over a century to take to the witness stand when he gave evidence in the trial.

The last time a royal had given evidence in court was in the 1890s, when the future king Edward VII took the stand in a slander trial. Harry, 39, accused MGN of “industrial scale” phone hacking during emotional testimony in which he relived upsetting episodes of his life.

The prince argued he had been the victim of relentless and distressing media intrusion virtually his entire life. Harry holds the media responsible for the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in a 1997 Paris car crash while she was being pursued by paparazzi.

He stood down from royal duties in early 2020 for a life in California with his American wife Meghan, in part for privacy reasons. The prince and several other claimants alleged the MGN titles engaged in “illegal information gathering”, including intercepting phone voice mails, to write dozens of stories about him.

The Duke of Sussex has launched legal action against several tabloid media groups, alongside barrages of attacks aimed at his family and the monarchy. “I´ve been told that slaying dragons will get you burned,” he said in his statement.
