Sonam Kapoor speaks out for Palestine, other prominent Bollywood celebrities silent

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor is one of the few Indian celebrities to condemn the bombardment of Palestine by Israeli army. The actress shared two post on her Instagram stories, as reported by Indian publication CNN News 18. One was a picture with the caption: “Half of the people in Gaza are children.”

The other one was a quote from a New York Times article written by Nicholas Kristof which condemned the one-sided apathy towards Palestinian children.

Most Twitter users lauded the ‘Aisha’ actress for taking a firm stand when Bollywood celebrities, including prominent Muslim actors, refused to speak out publicly against Israel’s atrocities towards Gaza.

Among the few Bollywood celebrities who have addressed the conflict, Shah Rukh Khan’s 2014 tweet was going viral on social media where he condemned the murder of Palestinian children.

Actress Swara Bhasker also condemned the brutal attack on Palestinian civilians by Israeli terrorists, and released a statement on her Instagram stories calling out the hypocrisy of those who were “shocked” by the violence of the Hamas.

“If you have not felt shock and horror at Israel’s unending atrocities on Palestinians, the forcible occupation of Palestinian homes, the forced evictions, the bigotry and violence of settler Israelis, the murder of Palestinian children and teenagers, the decades long blockade and bombing of Gaza and civilians in Gaza, including bombing of schools and hospitals (not to mention the apartheid and occupation), then I’m afraid your shock and horror at Hamas’ attacks on Israel seem a bit hypocritical.”

  • Natalie Portman ignores 583 Palestinian children’s death in video about Israeli kids

Natalie Portman ignores 583 Palestinian children’s death in video about Israeli kids

Actress Natalie Portman shared a video on her Instagram account where she called for justice for the kidnapped babies and children taken hostage by Hamas. In the video, children can be seen holding up placards saying ‘Save Israeli Children’. However, none of the placards bear any mention of Palestinian children and babies killed by the Israeli bombs and airstrikes over these last few days.

According to Defense For Children International Palestine, more than 583 children have died because of Israel’s onslaught on Palestinians, which continues to rise as Israeli forces cut off electricity, water, food and gas supplies for Gaza.

“Israeli officials’ statements combined with widespread and systematic attacks carried out by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip raise extreme concern that this is now a campaign of genocide against the Palestinian people,” Brad Parker, attorney and senior policy adviser at Defense for Children International – Palestine said in a statement. “Israeli military assaults have reached an intensity where they are seemingly intended to deliberately kill large numbers of Palestinians in Gaza, and combined with Israeli total closure policies, show the aim is to destroy Palestinian life in Gaza.”

Tellingly, Portman disabled comments on her post.

Actress Jennifer Garner also released a statement on her Instagram page, where she wrote about the atrocities of war being unbearable for both Israeli and Palestinian children. The actress said she is donating to Save The Children, an organisation who are providing supplies for people in need.

Save The Children has slammed Israel for ordering one million people from North Gaza to move South within 24 hours.

We are extremely worried by Israeli military orders to evacuate 1 million people out of northern #Gaza in 24 hours which will have enormous consequences for #children.

  • Who are the celebrities siding with Israel as onslaught on Gaza continues?

Who are the celebrities siding with Israel as onslaught on Gaza continues?

The bombing on Palestine continues with latest reports showing that more than 5,600 Palestinians have died in Gaza at Israel’s hands. In these past few days, many celebrities have voiced their support for Israel, some of them using misinformation as justification for the bombardment of civilians. Social media users have expressed outrage on the way the slaughter of Palestinians is being shown as a positive thing rather than a war crime.

Here are all the public faces who have so far expressed their support for Israel.

More than 700 Hollywood entertainers have signed an open letter with Creative Community For Peace (CCFP) voicing their support for Israel as the bombing of Gaza continues. This included former IDF soldier and actress Gal Gadot, comedian Amy Schumer, actors Chris Pine, Mark Hamil and Debra Messing.

The letter described the war as “terrorism. This is evil. There is no justification or rationalization for Hamas’ actions.”

The letter ended by urging on other members of the entertainment industry “to speak out forcefully against Hamas and do whatever is in their power to urge the terrorist organization to return the innocent hostages to their families.”

‘Stranger Things’ actor Noah Schnapp released a statement that riled up social media.

Kim Kardashian shared a statement on her Instagram account expressing her support for Israel.

Harry Potter writer J.K Rowling shared a video clip of journalists claiming the Hamas had beheaded 40 babies from Israel with the caption: “Now let the snivelling apologists for rape, murder and torture explain how this, too, was justified.”

Since then, the news has since then been debunked by journalists, as well as the IDF who said no such confirmation was given by them. However, Rowling has not taken down her post.

Jamie Lee Curtis shared and then deleted a picture of children looking up at the sky in terror, along with the Israeli flag in the caption. This picture is actually from war-torn buildings in Gaza.

Justin Bieber shared a picture of war-torn Gaza with the caption ‘Pray for Israel’ on his Instagram stories, and twitter users criticised him for spreading misinformation.

  • ‘Actors are not prostitutes’: Mariyam Nafees slams stalker sending vulgar messages

‘Actors are not prostitutes’: Mariyam Nafees slams stalker sending vulgar messages

Actress Mariyam Nafees has had enough with stalkers assuming it’s their right to be lewd to actresses.

Nafees shared a screenshot on her Instagram stories of a message she recieved from an unknown person, who was trying to solicit a meeting with her after seeing her at the Lux Style Awards. The stalker tried to persuade Mariyam to hold a meeting, and asked her to name an amount.

To which she had responded: “Bet your mom is ashamed to have a child like you. Not every woman is ‘bought-able’ you s****. Good luck dealing with my ‘friends’!”

Mariyam shared the screenshot of the conversation and wrote in the caption: “Married or not- this never stops! Actors are not prostitutes!”

In her next post, Nafees shared the complete contact information of the stalker, writing that she plans to expose the harassers this way.

Another woman messaged Mariyam, whose conversation screenshots the actress shared in her Instagram stories. In the conversation, the woman solicited the actress to agree to take a photoshoot with a Pakistani magazine which innvolved “political level parties and bold shoots.”

In 2021, Mariyam shared pictures of the indecent messages she recieved on Instagram from a man who asked her to visit his friend for a few hours and in return she’d recieve three lacs. Sharing the messages, the actress wrote in the caption:

“The point of putting this up is because I truly want to put a stop to this.
I don’t know who’s responsible for these morons to think this way and who’s entertaining them but no! Absolutely not! I and my esteemed co-actresses respectfully work for twelve hours (sometimes more) everyday and we refuse to tolerate this mentality. We come from educated backgrounds to make a name for ourselves, nobody and I mean NOT A SINGLE PERSON is allowed to disrespect us.

    Actresses are not prostitutes!”

Her outspoken message was applauded by Adnan Siddiqui who defended her in a tweet, pointing out that actors were professionals like everyone else and were not for sale.

“For those who think otherwise, let me put the record straight. Actors are NOT for sale. We work hard and work honestly as much as any other professional. No one’s allowed to disrespect us. Atta girl MariyamNafees”, Adnan tweeted.

  • Ranking every outfit Mahira Khan wore during her wedding celebrations

Ranking every outfit Mahira Khan wore during her wedding celebrations

Mahira Khan continues to enthrall social media audiences with her graceful outfits and her gorgeous glow as she danced the night away celebrating her marriage to Salim Karim. We’re ranking all of our favorite looks Pakistan’s sweetheart wore during the festivities.

Looking like a sunflower in her Elan saari, we’re putting this one on top of our list.

Talk your talk, whatever, but we’re ready to die on this hill because Mahira proves you don’t need flashy photography, cakey makeup and an emerald encrusted jora to look like the belle of the ball. She looks picturesque in this elegant yellow sari made by Khadija Shah. Also with her hair in a pigtail and her glowing face, this is going to be the look women will sought to recreate for their weddings.

Second one will obviously be her Faraz Mannan gown which put the world in standstill

This was the look that had to be the highlight of celebrity weddings this year. Mahira looked absolutely breath taking in the ivory ensemble crafted with silver embroidery, paired with an elegant, no makeup look and a diamond set.

If pastels were the theme for the nikkah, then you end the wedding celebrations with a bang wearing a poppy color like red. Mahira looked gorgeous in this lengha choli by Zara Shahjahan, looking equally glamed up and classy at the same time.

Mahira stayed true to keeping things classy yet elegant for her wedding as she started the celebrations with her Bismillah where she wore a gorgeous two piece ensemble from Umar Sayeed couture.

This is definitely a good color to wear, but personally Mahira looks better in pastels than she does in dull colors. It’s a pretty outfit, but had the silver craft been replaced with gold or green it would have been among our top three favorite looks worn by the actress.
