Recently, a Sahir Lodhi quote featured in Tribune Lifestyle has left people scratching their head. The website quoted Lodhi’s interview with Cinevision Youtube channel where he said: “‘Sahir’ and ‘Sahir Lodhi’ are two different people. Sahir is somebody that I know. Sahir Lodhi is somebody that everyone knows. Everyone has access to Sahir Lodhi. But only Sahir Lodhi has access to Sahir.”
Is this the plot to Inception? When the quote went viral on Twitter, users took their best shot at trying to decipher what Sahir meant. We’ll share some of the hilarious responses to Lodhi’s philosophy.
Actor Imran Abbas has taken to his Facebook account to discuss how entertainment talk shows have fallen in quality, after a series of controversies surrounding talk shows. The saga begun when model Ekra Faiz said Hania Amir was an overrated actress who was everywhere on television, and a resurfaced clip showed Sadaf Kanwal making demeaning comments about Mahira Khan’s appearance.
Now, the ‘Tumharay Hussn Kay Naam’ actor has stated that he refuses to go on talk shows anymore because the conversations are focused on criticising one’s appearance, looks or deciding whether they are religious or not.
“It’s one of the major reasons for me to refuse to go to these talk shows conducted by those fame-deprived hosts, who are known to no one, doesn’t have any claim to fame, and don’t have any acheivements under their belt, who even talk publicly about celebrities’ personal lives and at times about their religious and personal beliefs too and have the audacity to judge people and their work as well without any personal accomplishments of their own and without knowing these celebrities journey’s..”
The actor urged talk show hosts to stop focusing on mundane, senseless issues that only seek to profit off other people’s misery, and to focus on important issues one can discuss in society:
“Don’t you have anything decent to talk, any important issue left in our society to discuss and ponder, can’t you sit for a while for something deep and meaningful which needs our focus or anything which is humorous yet not derogatory?”
Imran also urged other actors to join him in refusing to attend talk shows so that hosts can learn to remember their responsibility to make moral and ethical shows:
“I request our fellow actors to discourage them by stop being a part of these ‘wanna be funny/ popular talk shows’…Please have some morals and set a precedent since we all have lots of responsibilities when we come on stage even as guests/ hosts.”
The devastating news that the iconic film ‘Barbie’ was recalled once more from cinemas by the Punjab Government for a second review has left fans fuming. News outlets said that the film was banned over four words were circulating on social media.
On Saturday night some social media reports said that the screening had halted midway, and cinemas like Cue and Universal replaced the movie schedule for Barbie on their website with ‘Mission Impossible’.
After speaking to an insider from the Punjab Film Censor Board, The Current has been informed that the film had previously been cleared to play in cinemas across Lahore, but it was the Punjab Government that had halted the screening and will release it after a second review. When we asked why there uproar on Barbie, and not Oppenheimer, the insider refused to comment on it.
Speaking to Geo Fact Check, Amir Mir, the caretaker Information and Culture Minister of Punjab revealed ‘Barbie’ was re-called because of concern of the film’s content which showed ‘homosexuality’.
“There is a gay character in it,” Mir said. “You can Google and find out if there is any such thing in it or not.”
Mir added that the film will be re-examined in a few days and will be released to cinemas after censoring a few dialogues.
However, Barbie was not censored in other cities like Islamabad or in Sindh. When Mir was asked about this his response was:
“Other provinces probably like this kind of stuff. We have a problem with it.”
However, we can advice you to not toss away your pink outfit yet, because Barbie is still playing in Chalo Cinemas at Fortress Square Mall. We contacted the cinema and a manager confirmed to us that the film has not been banned.
On the official Instagram page, Chalo Cinema has still posted timings of the ‘Barbie’ movie.
On their Instagram stories, the organisation shared Galaxy Lollywood founder Momin Ali Munshi’s post on how their cinema was the only place that was allowed to play Barbie. There are three censor boards in Pakistan: Sindh, Punjab, and for Central Cantonment. Cantt has a separate censor board, which is present in all provinces, and Barbie has been cleared by their Censor Board which is why it is playing in the only cinema present inside Lahore Cantt, at Fortress Stadium.
Pakistani drama ‘Mere Paas Tum Ho’ is set to air on Indian channel ‘Zee Zindagi’. The Humayun Saeed and Ayeza Khan starrer will join the ranks of Pakistani dramas like ‘Qissa Meherbano Ka’, ‘Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay’ among others, all of whom have enjoyed popular airtime on the Indian channel ‘Zee Zindagi’.
On the official Instagram page, the channel had announced:
“What happens when you feel money CAN buy happiness? Here’s a glimpse of the much-awaited show! #MerePaasTumHo, Coming Soon on Indian Television screens!”
Penned by Khalil-ul-Rehman Qamar, the show revolves around Danish (played by Humayun), a traditional man who lives a simple life in a small flat with his wife and son. However, his wife Mehwish (played by Ayeza Khan) is an ambitious woman who dreams of acquiring wealth. When the couple meets Shehwar (played by Adnan Sdiddiqui) she falls for him and soon after, leaves her family to marry him.
Siddiqui recently made an appearance on Junaid Akram’s podcast where he spoke about the success of the drama, playfully suggesting that he should have charged more for his role had he known how big a hit the drama would become:
“If I knew how successful it would be, I wouldn’t have charged the money that I did. I would’ve taken a lot more. For the first time ever, Humayun asked me to play a role that he had in mind, and he was right. It was very big of him to suggest that. He told me that people had already cast me for it since like 6 years ago. Like, they had my name in mind,” Adnan shared.
While the rest of the world (completely excluding Punjab) is celebrating the release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, veteran actress Nadia Jamil seems to not share the same opinion. Jamil took to Twitter to share some of the problems she noticed in the film.
In her Twitter post, the ‘Sitara Aur Mehrunisa’ actress shared that the film mocked a pregnant doll, who was only shown twice.
“Being pregnant is the most natural thing in the world. Get over it. To encourage little girls to see it as something repulsive is an awful idea,” she wrote.
She went on to write that the film also discouraged flat feet, calling them ‘beautiful’.
“I have flat feet. They are beautiful. I dont know why everyone is puking over flat feet. Another unhealthy thing to teach little kids.”
Nadia also shared the film was not interested in supporting equality because it encourages “bullying and domineering men”
“The Barbie world is awful/cruel 2 the Ken’s & Barbies are never interested in equality. They are interested in bullying & domineering men, almost in revenge 4 the real world. Another s**** message 2 kids.”

I’d like 2 share a few of my cringe moments while watching #Barbie. I’d also like 2 say the ONLY reason I wasted my money on it was because @govtofpunjabpk banned it😂

Some Twitter users did not agree with Nadia’s take. One user wrote:
“You missed the entire point. It’s a satirical take on beauty standards perpetuated by ‘Stereotypical Barbie,’ which is the Robbie’s character’s name. The OTT manner in which this is conveyed is to highlight the absurdity of these notions. Her entire journey is one of unlearning.”

Another user pointed out that the film was a satire that was mocking the brand
I think you've missed the point! Unfortunately, the Barbie brand was all these things that you've mentioned but the film is actually mocking the brand. It's a comedy for anyone who was a kid in the 90s and it's been done so well.
I love Nadia but the way she missed the entire point just goes to show how our parents' generation just weren't built to understand satire https://t.co/TSL2usL5K2
Just do everyone a favour and just don’t watch the movie. It’s a MOVIE for a reason. Smh. Har cheez main wokeness nahi ghusaani hoti. https://t.co/hLW4X1YrjT
Ken-ergy king Ryan Gosling gave a shout out to BTS’s Jimin ahead of the Barbie release when he acknowledged that he had worn the same look the K-pop star had for his ‘Permission to dance’ music video.
“There’s an unspoken rule that if you bite another Ken’s style, you have to give them your prized possession,” Ryan said as he offered Jimin his guitar.

This wholesome crossover between two different worlds has taken over Twitter, because when two icons come together to slay you know magic is about to happen.
This Barbie just broke all the records to become a box office hit!
After a highly anticipated opening weekend the numbers are in on who won Barbenheimer. Earning reports have declared that Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ has beaten all the Kens to become a box office smash, earning more than $155 million in North America and Canada on the opening weekend, putting Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ in second place with $80.5 million, as reported by Deadline.
Both films released on July 21 after highly publicised marketing campaigns. All eyes in hit-starved Hollywood were on the two films with expectations running high after a disappointing summer season.
‘Barbie’ has also been hailed as the biggest opening weekend to be directed by a woman, surpassing 2019’s Captain Marvel ($153 million) and 2017’s Wonder Woman ($103 million).
Barbie revolves around the iconic Matell doll of the same name, who travels to human’s world to discover the reality of her creation. The film stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in leading roles, while America Fererra plays a supporting role.
Oppenheimer explores the life of the American scientist J Robert Oppenheimer as he invents the atomic bomb and later deals with the consequences of his creation.
Green Entertainment, the newly launched channel, is keeping audiences hooked with dramas about new and interesting topics.
The most recent drama to premiere is Mawra Hocane’s Nauroz, a series centered on how social media affects our daily lives. Mawra Hocane appears in a totally different role as a strong figure living in the stunning northern regions of Pakistan.
Now, television legend Nadia Jamil has offered appreciation for Mawra Hocane’s performance. In a tweet, Jamil wrote lengthy note, praising Hocane’s acting:
Nadia jeeeeee❤️❤️❤️❤️ your words mean so much to me.. thankyou #Nauroz
Fashion designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, a.k.a HSY, appeared on the ‘The Knock Knock Show with Mohib Mirza’ where he was asked about marriage.
When asked who he would marry if forced at gun point, the designer said it would be actress Mehwish Hayat, because friendship is the most important element in building a strong relationship.
The ‘Pehli Si Muhabbat’ actor went on to clarify that he was not in a relationship with Mehish, however, the two friends shared a close bond with each other.
They have previously worked together in the telefilm ‘Ijaazat’.
HSY also opened up about his childhood and how growing up in a poor family, he learned fashion designing by skimming through magazines as a kid when he went with his mother to a grocery store where she worked:
“My mother used to work at a grocery store and I use to go through old magazines over there. I would observe how did people design a look and when I went home, I’d take out my old shirts and try to make them like Calvin Klien or Donna Karan.”
HSY also revealed that one of his fashion inspirations was the late Princess of Wales, Lady Diana, who inspired him to become a fashion designer. As an infant, he had spent some time in London where his mother was looking for a job. During this time, the royal wedding was happening.
“I was on her shoulders watching the wedding and I remember the excitement, and how millions of people were screaming for a carriage, I have never forgotten it…I remember when I got home I got my sister’s dolls, took some tissue papers and started making that dress because I was shocked how that one dress shocked so many people.”
‘John’ actress Romaisa Khan has slammed fans for approaching her to take selfies while she was in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for her mother’s surgeries. The former Tik Tok star revealed that she had been anxious and praying for her mother’s surgery to go well, when the nurses present at the hospital kept begging her to take selfies with them, not recognising how improper it was to approach someone who is worried about their parent’s illness.
“Some people are so insensitive,” lamented the ‘John’ actress on her Threads account. “I know we are public figures but not public properties, so it’s unethical that my mom is in the ICU screaming in pain almost fighting for her life and where I am crying and praying outside and nurses literally making videos and asking for a selfie.”
Khan reminded her followers that it is alright to approach her at a public event or mall for a picture, but not at all okay to crowd her in a hospital, especially when she is taking care of her parent.
“Events or malls most welcome but in such sensitive situations please learn how to act,” she wrote.
Lets all remember that celebrities are human beings like the rest of us. It’s not at all acceptable to invade someone’s personal space, regardless of whether they are famous or not, especially at a time when they are worried about their loved ones.
