Yasir Hussain hits back at trolls telling Mahira Khan to wear a dupatta

While many are appreciating Pakistani celebrities for raising their voice for Palestine, others have their priorities displaced and are moral policing Mahira Khan for not wearing a dupatta to the pro-Palestine protest outside the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday.

Yasir Hussain and Ahmed Ali Butt stepped forward to defend their colleague and hit back at trolls moral policing Mahira for not wearing a dupatta.

Bohot achy,” remarked Hussain sarcastically. “You get your summer looks with shorts and Mahira should wear a dupatta in the heat of May.”

“Get out of clothing and talk about real issues,” asserted Yasir, adding: “Khuda ka khof karo (Fear God).”

Ahmed Ali Butt also schooled trolls attacking Mahira, saying: “Jin logo ko dupatta nazar nahi aya unko aqal kahan se nazar ai ge? Sharam apni nazar main dhoondo, aurat kay libas main nahi. #growup”

Meanwhile, Sheheryar Munawar, Ayesha Omar, Sanam Jung among others celebrities were spotted at the protest. Yasir could not attend the demonstration due to his surgery after suffering a hand injury.

Yasir protested, however, with a Palestinian flag on his bandage.

Mathira also defended Mahira, saying: “It’s the mindset that needs to be changed. Stop being so sex hungry in your mind, stop it!!”

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced a ceasefire on Friday in Gaza after 11 days of violence, Al Jazeera has reported.

  • ‘Only gloom remains in Gaza’: Pakistani celebs react to ceasefire in Gaza

Adnan Siddiqui, Faysal Quarishi and Iqra Aziz have reacted to the ceasefire in Gaza after 11 days of violence, saying more needs to be done.

“Guns have fallen silent, mothers are searching for children, children for their homes,” wrote Siddiqui on social media. “The dust has settled. Only gloom remains in Gaza.”

“Ceasefire but at what cost? I search for answers,” added the actor.

Quraishi also shared his opinion on ceasefire saying, “A ceasefire is welcome but a lot more needs to be done.”

“Palestine has been an open-air prison for countless people,” remarked the actor. “Every single day they have been witnessing continuous crimes against humanity with no control on staples like water and electricity.”

“All Palestinians, Muslims, Jews or Christians need to be freed once and for all,” said Quraishi further, adding: “If the world does not take a stand now, we will keep on witnessing Kashmir and Gaza story repeated for all times to come.”

Iqra Aziz also shared her thoughts on the situation, saying: “I pray we never face anything like this again. This was inhumane.”

“I pray for all the lives lost in the past 11 days and hope for a better future,” expressed Iqra.

“Your ‘country’ was literally founded, sorry I mean forced on the world in 1948. Humse bhi aik saal chotay ho, aide tussi 3,000 years kay (You are one year younger than Pakistan and yet you claim you’re 3000 years old),” the musician had said.

  • Diana was tricked into giving explosive interview on marriage, reveals inquiry

Diana was tricked into giving explosive interview on marriage, reveals inquiry

Journalist Martin Bashir tricked princess Diana into giving an explosive BBC television interview in which she lifted the lid on her troubled marriage to Prince Charles, an independent investigation concluded on Thursday.

Read more – Prince William welcomes new investigation into Diana’s explosive BBC interview

Retired senior judge John Dyson said Bashir commissioned faked bank statements that falsely suggested some of Diana’s closest aides were being paid by the security services to keep tabs on her.

Bashir then showed them to Diana’s brother Charles Spencer, in a successful bid to convince him to arrange a meeting between himself and Diana and earn her trust.

Dyson said he was “satisfied” that Bashir showed fake bank statements “so as to deceive Earl Spencer and induce him to arrange the meeting with Princess Diana”.

“By behaving as described… Mr Bashir acted inappropriately and in serious breach” of the corporation’s own editorial guidelines on “straight dealing”, Dyson added.

Questions have long been asked about how Bashir convinced Diana to talk on the BBC’s flagship Panorama programme in November 1995, which was watched by a record 22.8 million people and won a string of television awards.

In it, she famously said, “there were three people” in her marriage — her, Charles and his long-time mistress and now wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles — and also admitted adultery.

Diana’s friend, Simone Simmons, told The Sun that the interview had “destroyed her pyschologically” and “made her paranoid”.

Bashir, now 58, was little-known at the time of the interview but went on to have a high-profile career on US television networks, and interviewed stars such as Michael Jackson.

He returned to work for the corporation as religion editor until he stepped down last week, citing ill health, just hours before Dyson’s report was submitted to BBC bosses.

Earlier, a 1996 internal inquiry by future BBC chief Tony Hall and another senior figure, Anne Sloman, cleared Bashir of wrong-doing.

But Dyson called that probe “flawed and woefully ineffective”.

Hall, now chair of the board of trustees at Britain’s National Gallery, admitted that the probe “fell well short of what was required”, and said he was “wrong to give Martin Bashir the benefit of the doubt”.

Meanwhile, BBC director-general Tim Davie said the corporation accepted Dyson’s findings completely and offered a “full and unconditional apology”.

The broadcaster also said it was handing back the awards the programme won for the interview.

Bashir also apologised, saying the faking of the bank statements was “a stupid thing do and was an action I deeply regret”.

But he maintained it had “no bearing whatsoever on the personal choice by Princess Diana to take part”, and he was still “immensely proud” of the interview.

Davie equally said the princess was “keen on the idea of an interview with the BBC”. Her estranged husband had spoken to commercial channel ITV in 1994, and also admitted adultery.

However, he added that “the BBC should have made greater effort to get to the bottom of what happened at the time and been more transparent about what it knew.”

Diana and Charles formally divorced in 1996. She died aged 36 in a high-speed car crash while being chased by paparazzi photographers in Paris the following year. Charles married Camilla in 2005.

Another royal baby on the way as Princess Beatrice announces pregnancy

Princess Beatrice, the granddaughter of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth who married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi last year, is expecting a baby, Buckingham Palace has announced.

The baby, the first for Beatrice, the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, and her property developer husband, is due to be born this autumn.

“The queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news,” the Palace said in a statement.

The princess, the ninth-in-line to the throne, and her husband wed at Windsor Castle in July in a scaled-down private ceremony that took place without the usual pomp and fanfare that royal weddings usually attract because of COVID-19 restrictions.

The queen currently has 10 great grandchildren, with two new royal arrivals this year – Beatrice’s sister Eugenie had her first baby in February and Zara Tindall, the daughter of Princess Anne, gave birth to her third child in March.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are also expecting their second child this year.

The announcement of the pregnancy provides some good for the 95-year-old monarch whose husband of more than seven decades Prince Philip died last month.

In a further blow to the queen, one of two Dorgi puppies she was given by Prince Andrew to cheer her up after Philip fell ill in February died over the weekend.

“The queen is absolutely devastated,” an unnamed royal aide told the Sun newspaper. “Everyone concerned is upset as this comes so soon after she lost her husband.”
