Sohai Ali Abro on Sunday tied the knot with Shehzar Mohammad, son of former cricketer Shoaib Mohammad and the grandson of legendary batsman Hanif Muhammad.
While the newlyweds have not shared any pictures from their big day, pictures from their nuptials are doing the rounds on social media. The couple looked resplendent in shades of ivory and gold.
Humayun Saeed was one of the few guests at the event and the actor shared snippets from the occasion on social media to wish the happy couple.
“Many congratulations to Sohai and Shehzar,” said Saeed. “May Allah bless you both with lots and lots of happiness, prosperity and a lifetime of togetherness.”
Kriti Sanon who shared the screen with Sushant Singh Rajput in 2017’s Raabta, has opened up about the actor’s death and revealed why she chose to remain silent on the matter.
Sanon, who was also rumoured to have dated the late actor, chose to step away from the spotlight following Rajput’s alleged suicide, even as people reportedly used his death to claim their five minutes of fame in the media.
Speaking to an Indian media outlet, Sanon shared why she decided to stay silent on the matter.
“At one point, there was so much noise around that I didn’t want to be a part of it,” said Kriti. “It reached a point where people stopped being sensitive, and there was too much negativity around. I didn’t want to be a part of that negativity.”
“I knew what I felt about the situation and I wanted to keep that to myself. I didn’t feel the need to talk to anyone about anything that I was feeling. Also, what you want to say, you can always say it on social media. You can write and express yourself instead of talking out loud.”
Two days after Sushant’s death, Kriti had penned a heartbreaking note for her late co-star, writing: “Sush…I knew that your brilliant mind was your best friend and your worst enemy…but it has broken me completely to know that you had a moment in your life where dying felt easier or better than living.”
“A part of my heart has gone with you, and a part will always keep you alive,” Kriti had written in her note.
On June 14, 2020, Singh was found dead at his home in Mumbai. While the police initially reported Rajput’s death as suicide, the federal police agency later began to investigate foul play after fans of the actors expressed outrage on social media and his family filed an FIR against his alleged girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. Chakraborty was also investigated and arrested in the case.
To commemorate Pakistan Resolution Day, Coke Studiohas released a new track Ao Ehad Karain, which presents a concept of peace, hope and celebrates the young and emerging talent of the country.
The track has been produced by Ali Hamza and features a diverse set of musicians from different genres including the Army Brass Band of Pakistan to reinvent the legendary national songs of Pakistan.
“It’s a grand multi-city, multi-producer, 75 artists on board kind of a production and it’s been a 4-month long labour of love putting it together,” says Hamza.
According to a press release, the song has been “envisioned in collaboration with Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) and begins on an introspective note with Wattan ki Mitti, Gawah Rehna in the voices of Saadat Shafqat, son of legendary singer Shafqat Amanat Ali, and Zaw Ali, daughter of iconic singer Sajjad Ali.”
These powerful verses are followed by a unique recitation of Sir Allama Iqbal’s poetry done by the veteran artist, Ali Hamza, who provides gravitas to the narration.
Talking about the track Hamza, in a statement, said: “Ao Ehad Karain is a journey through time and emotion. It starts introspectively, looking back in time to when the Pakistan Resolution was passed on March 23, 1940.”
“It then moves through ups and downs, like history has and life does: questions, conflicts, resolutions, awakening, rejuvenation and then celebrates a new beginning at the turn of a new decade – 2021,” adds the singer.
Following Hamza’s recitation, the track moves to the Young Stunners, who give yet another out-of-the-box performance in the words of Sir Allama Iqbal. The Young Stunners recently also received praise for their performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) anthem Groove Mera.
Another unique feature in the track is the introduction of the iconic Army Brass Band, which has been the flag bearer of a long-standing tradition in Pakistani culture.
“They have energized this nation for decades with reverberating performances of national songs of Pakistan,” says the press release while talking about the band.
Meanwhile, the choir is provided by Farwa Batool, Rida Batool, Nabiha Saleem, and Zahab Hussain. Ao Ehad Karain also features Shamu Bai & Vishnu – sibling duo from Sindh and Kashif Din, a young singer from Gilgit-Baltistan.
Soon after, the comments section of Baig’s post was full of mubaraks and good wishes as fans and fellow celebrities congratulated the newly engaged couple.
Kubra Khan, Sadaf Kanwal, Areeb Habib, Noor Zafar Khan, Ushna Shah and Zainab Abbas wished the newly engaged in the comments section.
The couple had confirmed their relationship in January 2020 after months of teasing fans. Shigri, in an Instagram post had revealed that Aima is indeed his “better half”.
Sharing a picture of himself and the singer in Los Angeles, Shigri had swooned over Baig’s smile adding that she is his “partner in crime, homie, companion and a whole bunch of other things which, if I began listing down, would turn up the cringe level to a million”.
Since then, the couple has often indulged in PDA and shared loving notes for each other.
Sharing the video of the two underwater, Ahsan wrote: “20/03/20” followed by a heart emoji.
Tagging Minal, Ahsan further said: “1 year down, 100 more to go.”
Ahsan also turned off the comments on the post.
The couple earlier came under fire for posting loved-up pictures. At the time, Ahsan had reacted to the backlash by asking people to worry about “his/her own life instead of others”.
“Islam teaches us not to condemn others. Leave the judging to God. Worry about, and judge, only yourself,” he had said.
Meanwhile, Minal also recently hit back at a troll for who moral-policed her over her choice of outfit.
Noor’s comments irked Zoya Nasir who jumped in to defend the bride.
“It’s her wedding day. It’s her dream day,” said the actor. “The bride is not enforcing her beliefs or lifestyle on anyone and no one has the right to publicly disgrace her very personal choice with their own two cents.”
“Lest no forget what the person in objection has done in the past,” she continued. “She had pretty good role to play where we are headed. If Ms Noor was free to do what she did, same goes for everyone else.”
“It’s good that she had a calling and is following her faith but that doesn’t give her the authority to name and shame,” she added.
Responding to Zoya’s outrage, Noor apologised to her.
“I apologise Ma’am Zoya Nasir. I did very wrong in past and I regret what I did,” said the former actor.
“It concerns me because there use to be a time dulhan looked so pretty in haya,” said Noor. “But still I realised my mistake and took down the post.”
“Where is the freedom of speech? Why [does] it [have] to become news whenever I post anything on my post or page?” questioned Noor.
“Still I apologise for my mistake. Ab me chup hi rahun gi,” she added.
Bukhari turned to religion to seek contentment after her fourth divorce. She has often used social media to share her religious experiences and spread spiritual awareness. In January 2020, she reportedly remarried ex-husband and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Awn Chaudhry. The couple has two daughters together.
Pakistani celebrities are often trolled and moral policed for their choice of outfits and clothes. Minal Khan was recently at the receiving end of criticism for her choice of outfit.
The actor, who recently appeared on Timeout with Ahsan Khan with close friend Saboor Aly, ended up grabbing the attention for the wrong reasons. Though the show has not aired as yet, the moral police has been calling them out for their choice of clothing ever since behind-the-scenes pictures and videos from the episode went viral on social media.
Responding to a user, who commented “Begairti ki hd,” on one of her pictures, Minal said: “Kaheen aur jakr bhaashan dein pls, agli dukaan mein jayein. Yahan window shopping nahi horhi.”
Earlier, Ayesha Omar had also given a befitting reply to a troll who criticised her for her choice of outfit.
Responding to a social media user who had criticised her outfit for being revealing, Ayesha had said: “I’m definitely not promoting/ asking/urging women to expose their bodies. That is their own choice as wearing this dress was mine. As wearing whatever you want is yours.”
In another comment, when a user remarked that such outfits provoke rape cases, Ayesha hit back saying: “Oh so that explains 4-month-old babies, 5-year-olds and 7-year-old girls and being raped?”
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s eldest son Maddox Jolie-Pitt has reportedly testified in the former couple’s divorce trial and has said not “very flattering” things about his father.
“Maddox has already given testimony as [an] adult in the ongoing custody dispute, and it wasn’t very flattering toward Brad,” an “inside” source told Us Weekly on Thursday. “He doesn’t use Pitt as his last name on documents that aren’t legal and instead uses Jolie. Maddox wants to legally change his last name to Jolie, which Angelina has said she doesn’t support.”
The report comes hours after Jolie reportedly told the court that she will offer “proof” at trial to support her claims of domestic violence against ex-husband. Court filings, submitted last week, indicate that Jolie and her children are willing to offer “proof and authority in support” of the abuse claims. Reports further said that Jolie said she is prepared to detail her negative experiences with Pitt, during their 10-year relationship and two-year marriage.
Jolie and Pitt have six children. Besides, 19-year-old Maddox, there is Pax, 17, and Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12.
Jolie, 45, and Pitt, 57, have been embroiled in a bitter custody and divorce battle since Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, ending their jet-setting, movie star lifestyle together that made them one of Hollywood’s superstar couples.
Soon after the couple’s split, it was revealed that Pitt was being investigated by the FBI and child welfare services in Los Angeles, related to reports he got “verbally abusive and physical with his children” on a private jet returning from Europe. A number of reports claimed that Maddox was the main focus of Pitt’s aggression on the flight. However, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services cleared Pitt in November 2016 after investigating the actor.
Rohail Hyatt, during a Twitter exchange with a fan, has revealed that he is stepping down as Coke Studio’s (CS) producer.
Responding to a user who asked him about this year’s CS, Rohail said: “I’m sure CS (Coke Studio) is being planned, but not by me.”
I'm sure CS is being planned but not by me.. 😊🙏 SM is a great place to figure out if one is neutral or biased in any way. I'm using it as a tool to measure my own imbalances. Seems to be working well for me.
Hyatt joined Coke Studio in 2008 with its first season and stepped down after 6 seasons. He was later brought back for the 12th season in 2019, though it failed to impress audiences. Rohail also produced the latest Season 13, which had only twelve songs due to COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns.
Atif Aslam has been issued a notice by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) yet again for non-payment of advance tax worth 0.60 million.
According to reports, the deadline for filing the advance tax for the third quarter was March 15 and the singer failed to clear his dues by then.
Earlier in January 2021, the FBR had reportedly sent Aslam a tax notice worth 58 million after the audit of his income for the year 2018. The award-winning singer was given one month’s notice to pay the tax.
This is not the first time a member of the entertainment industry has come on FBR’s radar, few months agothe FBR had sent a notice to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, seeking an explanation for his alleged bank accounts.
In 2019, the FBR also launched an initiative to collect tax from the citizens and requested showbiz and media personalities to declare their assets, warning them that if they don’t they will also face disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, Atif has not yet commented on the matter.
Aslam is one of Pakistan’s biggest stars. Besides having millions of fans and followers across the globe, the singer also made it to the inaugural Forbes Asia’s 100 Digital Starslist, which highlights celebrities from across the Asia Pacific region who have taken the digital world by storm.
