Allhamdulliah the response has been so overwhelming,” said Mobeen.

The nineteen-year-old Instagram influencer further said that she is enjoying all the recreations which she is receiving from every corner of Pakistan, adding that her countrymen are very creative when it comes to memes.

Ahsan Khan receives praise from across the border for performance in ‘Qayamat’

Ahsan Khan has been creating waves with his performance as Rashid in Qayamat. The renowned actor has been winning praise for his portrayal of a spoilt and abusive husband. In fact, the actor has even received love from across the border for his role in the drama serial.

Veteran Bollywood actress Zarina Wahab, in a Whatsapp message sent to the actor, praised him, writing: “As Rashid, you are too much… Excellent work.”

Written by Sarwat Nazir and directed by Ali Faizan, Qayamat features Neelam Muneer, Haroon Shahid, Saba Faisal, Shabbir Jan and Amar Khan besides Khan.

Meanwhile, Khan in a recent social media post opened up on the challenges that come with being an actor.

“Actors do go through intense practice specifically so you can’t tell how hard they’re working, so you can’t see the years and years of hard work that got them to this point,” said the actor. “There is a disguised virtuosity in the complex craft of acting that doesn’t show itself in skilled acting.”

“Good quality, complex acting must always come down to an invisible naturalism that makes the challenging components of it far less apparent than every other art form,” he added.

On the other hand, the actors of the drama serial have been celebrating the success of Qayamat on social media. Amar recently shared a video of herself and Ahsan, dancing and enjoying.

“In the meanwhile, yeh hai Rashid aur Samra, or off set in dono ki pawri ho rai hai,” she wrote in the caption.

  • Minal Khan, Ahsan Mohsin Ikram make it official

Minal Khan, Ahsan Mohsin Ikram make it official

Minal Khan and beau Ahsan Mohsin Ikram have made it official. The couple, on Valentine’s Day, subtly announced that they have gotten engaged!

Ahsan revealed the news in an Instagram post, sharing a picture of Minal showing off her engagement ring.

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” wrote Ikram in caption along with a heart emoji.

Earlier in the day, Khan shared a photo from their intimate Valentine’s Day celebration as she posed alongside Ikram in front of a pink wall with a heart-shaped balloon.

“Love is in the air. Simple and sweet,” wrote the actor in the caption.

Commenting on Minal’s post, Ahsan wrote: “I love you.” However, Minal later closed the comments section of her post.

Soon after, congratulatory messages poured in for the newly engaged couple from fans and colleagues.

The news of Minal and Ahsan’s engagement comes just days after Minal was spotted at Ahsan’s grandmother’s (Dadi) birthday celebrations.

The couple had officially confirmed their relationship on Minal’s birthday in November 2020 with a picture that received immense backlash on social media.

  • Prince Harry, Meghan Markle ‘overjoyed to be expecting their second child’

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle ‘overjoyed to be expecting their second child’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting their second child, their spokesman told British media in a Valentine’s Day announcement on Sunday. The child will be eighth in the line to the British throne.

The couple released a black and white image of them under a tree, all smiles, with Markle, 39, showing signs of pregnancy. The photo was reportedly taken remotely via iPad by their friend and longtime photographer, Misan Harriman.

“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother,” the spokesman said, referring to the couple’s son. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

The couple’s announcement on Valentine’s Day was a nod to Princess Diana, who 37 years ago on the same day, had announced that she was pregnant with Prince Harry.

Meghan and Harry, 36, who is Queen Elizabeth II’s grandson, quit frontline royal duties in March last year and now live in California.

The news follows Markle’s disclosure in The New York Times in November that she had suffered a miscarriage in July.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “Her Majesty, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and the entire family are delighted and wish them well.”

The couple’s departure last year — dubbed ‘Megxit‘ by the British press — was a far cry from 2018 when they married in a ceremony at Windsor Castle watched around the world.

The mood soured as reports circulated about a rift between Harry and his brother Prince William, second in line to the throne.

Since leaving, they have launched several legal cases against news outlets alleging invasion of privacy — including one that ended on Thursday with a victory against Associated Newspapers in the UK.

The cases have attracted criticism from some, as the couple are also launching themselves into the public eye with high-profile commercial projects.

Last year they launched a non-profit organisation, Archewell, after giving up a “Sussex Royal” brand as part of the terms of their departure from frontline royal duties.

They have started other ventures, including signing a deal with Spotify to produce podcasts that tell “uplifting and entertaining stories”. The couple also signed a contract, reportedly worth tens of millions of dollars with streaming giant Netflix to produce “impactful” films and series.

  • It’s a happy ending for ‘Mushk’

It’s a happy ending for ‘Mushk’

Imran Ashraf’s ‘dream’ Mushk came to a close Saturday night with a perfect fairytale ending giving all us hopeless romantics just what we wanted on Valentine’s Day eve.

The final episode of the drama had all the usual tropes of a happy ending with star-crossed lovers coming together and riding into the sunset for their happily ever afters.

On one hand, Mehak (Momal Sheikh) and Shayan (Osama Tahir) finally reunite after Shayan managed to escape his evil Mamu Muqaddar Khan’s (Aehsun Talish) clutches while on the other, Adam (Imran Ashraf) realises his love for Guddi (Urwa Hocane) and the two get married.

Adam also turned into the knight in shining armour for Guddi after she is kidnapped and forced to marry Chotay Malik, helping her escape, though not before she slit her wrists in an act of defiance. Once she recovers, she decides to head back home and is waiting for her train, when Adam catches her and asks her to marry him. The drama ends with Adam saying ‘Shukar Alhumdulillah‘ to everything that transpired.

Meanwhile, the evil characters in the drama are punished with Chotay Malik jailed for killing Dr Rana (Raja Haider) and Muqddar Khan paralysed and confined to the wheelchair, leaving viewers satisfied with their anjaam.

While the drama had most viewers hooked with its interesting storyline and unpredictable twists and turns, it faltered at places and was slow-paced with some scenes unnecessarily dragging on. But what did work for the drama was its dramatic dialogues and brilliant performances. Imran proved to be a wonderful romantic hero and was a delight to watch on the screen. Osama was brilliant as Shayan and the range of emotions he expressed deserve a round of applause, even though most of the time you just wanted to give him [Shayan] a slap for his stupidity.

As unfortunate as it is, dramas currently trending on Pakistani television are those which are either centred on women running after other women’s husbands or the usual family issues in which two people who like each other are not allowed to get married for whatever XYZ reason. In all this hullabaloo, Mushk was like a breath of fresh air and a great example of a solid script enhanced by brilliant performances.

  • Azaan Sami Khan’s ‘Main Tera’ is the perfect Valentine’s Day song

Azaan Sami Khan’s ‘Main Tera’ is the perfect Valentine’s Day song

Azaan Sami Khan has released the title track of his debut album Main Tera, along with a music video just in time for the day of love. The song features Khan taking over the vocals and songwriting units for the first time. Meanwhile, the music video features Khan, alongside a newcomer Maheen Siddiqui.

Backed by some serene visuals, the video shows us glimpses of the couple – Khan and Siddiqui – engaging in an adorable meet-cute.

“It’s a very nostalgic ode to all the traditional, classic love stories that we, our parents and our grandparents have grown up watching,” says Khan while talking about the song. “It is a very simple, straightforward video. Rest assured, if you watch it in any part of the world, you still get what’s happening even if you don’t understand the language.”

“It’s about the pure innocence of that first date or when you first interact with someone you like, and whenever you recount that feeling,” he explained.

The music video of Main Tera has been directed by Ehteshamuddin, who has previously worked with the singer on Superstar.

“It’s always an incredible experience working with him, and ever since Azaan started working on his album, he had wanted me to direct his first music video, despite me not having worked on music videos before. We’re really great friends and companions, and always learn a lot from each other. When two similar minds collide, it leads to great things,” said the director.

The track is produced by Meghdeep Bose and features Baqir Abbas on flutes.

Khan also performed a rendition of the track at the HUM Bridal Couture Week last week and garnered favourable reviews from the industry and fans alike.

Sharing the pictures from the event, Azaan said: “I put a piece of my heart out there last night for all of you… zara khayal mera rakh lena.”

  • Akcent hints at making new PSL anthem after controversy

Akcent hints at making new PSL anthem after controversy

The official anthem of the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Groove Mera has stirred up a storm in the country. While some, including celebrities, have appreciated the song, others have strongly criticised the composition and choice of artists.

After Shoaib Akhtar claiming he could have done a better job with the anthem, several fans have requested Romanian band Akcent to remake the song, in what appears to have become a tradition before the start of PSL every year.

Responding to fans’ requests, the official account of Akcent said that the band might remake the PSL 6 song.

In another comment, the band said that they might make the official anthem for the next edition of the PSL.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday defended its decision to hire Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig and Young Stunners to perform the anthem, saying that the three artists were chosen as the board wanted to feature voices that were new and had not sung any PSL anthem before.

Earlier, Akcent had also tweeted: “PSL 7 or PSL 8?”

  • ‘I failed’: Justin Timberlake apologises to Britney Spears, Janet Jackson after online criticism

‘I failed’: Justin Timberlake apologises to Britney Spears, Janet Jackson after online criticism

Justin Timberlake on Friday apologised for moments he “fell short” and condoned misogyny, one week after the release of a blockbuster documentary on Britney Spears saw the behaviour of the former boy band star come under sharp criticism.

The film, produced by FX and The New York Times, explores the vitriol both the media and entertainment industry aimed at Spears, who soared to global fame before publicly suffering a mental health crisis and becoming a paparazzi punching bag in the mid-to-late 2000s.

Spears and Timberlake famously dated several years around the turn of the millennium, having met as children while cast members of Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club variety show.

The popular narrative of their breakup cast Spears as a cheating heartbreaker, offering sympathy to Timberlake especially after he released a revenge fantasy music video for the break-up hit Cry Me A River.

The documentary Framing Britney Spears includes audio from a 2002 radio interview in which Timberlake jokes about the couple’s sex life; Spears for years was needled over the state of her virginity prior to the break-up.

“So when are you apologising to Britney?” asked Spears fans on social media, flooding Timberlake’s accounts with tags.

“I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond,” Timberlake said Friday on Instagram.

“I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right,” he wrote. “I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”

Timberlake, 40, said he “specifically wanted to apologise to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed.”

In Jackson’s case, the former NSYNC star was referring to the infamous “wardrobe malfunction” Jackson suffered during a much-watched Super Bowl halftime show when Timberlake appeared to pull off part of her outfit and expose her breast.

The 2004 scandal triggered widespread outcry, with much of the criticism aimed at Jackson.

In both cases Jackson’s and Spears’ careers took serious hits, while Timberlake’s popularity remained largely unscathed.

“As a man in a privileged position I have to be vocal about this,” Timberlake wrote, nearly two decades after the incidents in question.

“Because of my ignorance, I didn’t recognise it for all that it was while it was happening in my own life but I do not want to ever benefit from others being pulled down again.”

“I have not been perfect in navigating all of this throughout my career,” Timberlake added. “I know this apology is the first step and doesn’t absolve the past. I want to take accountability for my missteps in all of this as well as be part of a world that uplifts and supports.”

Timberlake is now married to actress Jessica Biel.

The documentary’s release this month has triggered renewed scrutiny of the conservatorship Spears, 39, has lived under since 2008, a legal guardianship dictating the course of her life and finances that’s largely been steered by her father Jamie.

Spears filed last year to remove her father from the conservatorship and give sole power over her estate to a financial institution. Her court-appointed lawyer says she’s “afraid” of her father.

On Thursday a judge ruled that both Spears’ father and Bessemer Trust would oversee the pop star’s finances, denying Jamie Spears’ bid to keep sole power to delegate investments.

Spears’ lawyer did not seek Thursday to remove Jamie Spears’ from the legal arrangement normally intended for the elderly or infirm, but has not ruled out doing so in the future.

The next hearing is set for March 17.

‘Rasode Main Kon Tha’s’ Yashraj Mukhate is back with an epic take on ‘Pawri Ho Rai Hai’

Rasode Main Kon Tha’s Yashraj Mukhate is back with an epic take on Pawri Ho Rai Hai, a viral video trending on social media.

Mukhate, who became famous overnight after he released a hilarious rap featuring Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’s Kokilaben, Gopi bahu and Rashi, has now made a video of the girl vacationing in Northern Pakistan while saying “Yeh humari party ho rahi hai“. Mukhate created the video after many Pakistani and Indian fans tagged him in the video and requested him to make a rap on it.

Sharing the video on social media, Mukhate wrote: “Aaj se me party nahi karunga sirf pawri karunga. Kyuki party karneme wo mazaa nahi jo pawri karneme hai (From now on I will only do ‘pawri’ instead of party. Because partying is not as fun than pawriing).”

According to details, the girl who posted the original video is an Instagram influencer Dananeer. While commenting on Mukhate post, even she couldn’t stop praising the rap version.

This is not the first time that Mukhate used a Pakistani viral video to make a rap. Earlier, he used a video from a Pakistani show, in which the girl was mimicking street hawkers who sell Garam Anday (boiled eggs) on the streets.
