As we all self-isolate, everyone is taking to social media to share their favourites including recipes, seasons, movies and songs. Deepika Padukone also shared a list of songs which are currently on her quarantine playlist and we were surprised to see a Pakistani song on it.
Turns out Abida Parveen and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s Chaap Tilaak is on her list. Have to say Deepika has got a great taste in music.
Chaap Tilak featured in Season 7 of Coke Studio. It was produced by Strings.
Other songs on her playlist included Arjit Singh’s Tujhe Kitna Chahanay Laga Hoon (Kabir Singh), Kabira (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), Laal Ishq (Ram Leela), Channa Mereya (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil) and Agar Tum Saath Ho (Tamasha) among others.
The lockdown induced by the coronavirus pandemic has made us all take a step back from our hustling lives and has forced us to spend time at home. This has opened our eyes to many little things that often go unnoticed such as the amount of effort our mothers or wives and sisters put in to ensure that the house is running in smooth order.
Danish Taimoor noticed this as he isolated at home following which he decided to pen a thank you note to all the women in his life including his mother, wife, Ayeza Khan and daughter, who have made him who he is today.

Meanwhile, here’s what Ayeza had to say about Danish’s note:

Danish and Ayeza are one of television’s most-loved couples and their latest drama together Meharposh aired on Geo this weekend. It got rave reviews and was reportedly the highest-rated first episode of any Pakistani drama.
A state down to its knees… institutions crumbling… and rising are the people…
“In this world, everything is governed by balance. There’s what you stand to gain and what you stand to lose. And in this moment, they think they have nothing to lose. And when you believe you’ve got nothing to lose, you’re overconfident. We will be the ones that are going to show them just how much they have to lose.”
Remember these words by Professor (Alvaro Morte)? Well, they are exactly what are gradually but surely making Netflix’s very popular ‘La Casa De Papel [The House of Paper]’ aka ‘Money Heist’ even better and almost a left-wing masterpiece.
It won’t at all be a stretch to say the three previous seasons had set the bar a bit too high for the makers, but what has been dropped amid global lockdowns and after nine long months, every second of it is worth the wait.
An action-packed and smashing part four of the series is out, and to be as honest as we can be without giving any spoilers, we are more thrilled than ever after having watched the eight bingeworthy episodes.
For a little recap, the previous season showed Professor’s gang entering the Central Bank of Spain to get Rio (Miguel Herrán), who had been detained while on the run, rescued; and execute the late Berlin’s (Pedro Alonso) dream heist plan.
However, the police and intelligence’s actions leading to a lot of mess, Professor’s plans fail, Raquel aka Lisbon (Itziar Ituño) ends up being captured after the authorities fake her execution for Professor and friends, Nairobi (Alba Flores) is fighting for her life, and the entire gang is kind of cornered.
The only support they seem to have is that of some foreign nationals operating remotely, including Pakistanis.
The fourth season, as anticipated, picks up from where the makers left us hanging.
Since this, as said earlier, is a spoiler-free review, we won’t tell you what happens as Professor, in a hopeless condition, deals with the supposed loss of a loved one; the group deals with internal conflicts and a desperate police force tightening the noose around them, while an “assassin” is also on the loose inside the bank.
As seen in the trailer, security chief of the Bank of Spain’s governor, Gandia (José Manuel Poga), a new and ruthless villain, somehow manages to take on the gang and believe you us, causes mayhem.
Now that the police have a key member of the group, Lisbon, they are using her as a pawn to dig out information, while things inside the bank, on the other hand, are also getting out of hand BIG TIME because of Palermo (Rodrigo de la Serna) and others acting impulsively as always and costing themselves dearly.
While what is to be done with all the gold inside the bank is yet to be revealed, some tightly-tied knots from the last season have been loosened as flashbacks from Berlin and other members’ shared lives make the show a rollercoaster ride.
Here’s some good news: when you’re done watching the show and don’t really know what to do with your life anymore, Netflix is going to give you a little surprise.
The episodes are joined by a little behind-the-scenes surprise that features the 2019 Lebanese revolution.
‘Money Heist: The Phenomenon’ is a documentary on how the show has made an impact around the world. It is narrated by the series’ writer and includes interviews with the cast members viewers have grown to love.
Over the course of an hour, the film explains the show’s unexpected boom in popularity and interestingly dives into the cultural impact of it that was almost lost to television history.
Pakistan Television (PTV) is revisiting its golden memories with re-runs of PTV classics like Tanhaiyan. The state network has started ‘PTV Gold‘ on which old classics will be aired.
PTV will be airing Tanhiayan, every Sunday from April 5 at 3 pm. They will also be airing repeats of past episodes at 11 am on Sundays.
The story of the drama revolves around two sisters who lose their parents and go to live with their aunt. One of their efforts to buy back their parents’ house leads them to realise what makes a house a home.
It was directed by Shahzad Khalil and written by Hasina Moin. Some of the very legendary actors like Marina Khan, Shehnaz Sheikh, Aasif Raza Mir, Behroz Sabzwari and Badar Khalil were among the cast of the project.
Renowned actor and activist Nadia Jamil has been diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Jamil took to social media to share the news with her fans and followers. The actor said that she felt a wave of emotions when she found out, adding that she is now four days into her treatment. Nadia also urged all her followers to conduct regular self-checks and act fast if they feel any abnormalities.

However, Twitter users were not pleased with his ‘half-baked’ apology.
Apologies *IF* I hurt you. Bro you used a known racial slur and don’t even have the decency to acknowledge that it’s a big deal. Makes sense you opened for Ali Zafar, birds of a feather
Shamoon later released a new song, which possibly was a way to hit back at all the haters. Because the opening line of the song is: “Mein label te nae jaanda, Teri cable te nae aanda, Teray table te nae khaanda, Ey sab mera apna.”
Pakistani drama makers including the actors, directors, writers or producers rarely venture into the thriller/mystery genre because they are usually a gamble. The usual love triangles or saas-bahu storylines are tried, tested and safe which is why they deem it better to pour their energies and resources into that. Amidst all such stories, Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly’s Ye Dil Mera is like a breath of fresh air. The drama doesn’t have the usual ingredients of a masala entertainer but the way the story unfolds and the scenes transition make it a compelling and exciting watch.
Ye Dil Mera is centred around Noor ul Ain, Aina (Sajal Aly) who is the only daughter of Mir Farooq Zaman (Adnan Siddiqui). The father dotes on his daughter and ensures that she is always wrapped in a protective bubble. Aina is married to Amaanullah (Ahad Raza Mir), who has a dark past. Amaan’s character is the desi version of Christian Grey, minus the fetishes. While on the surface of it, all three lead characters lead perfectly, rich lives, it is the multiple layers below the surface that move the plot. Aina suffers from nightmares, reminiscent of a dark past in which her mother was killed when she was very young. Amaan’s parents and sister are also dead and despite being a successful businessman, he is a bitter person. On the other hand, Farooq who appears to be the perfect father leads a double life. All three characters have an intertwined past and the plot is built upon that.
The script, penned by Farhat Ishtiaq is perhaps the strongest part of the entire drama – it boasts marvellous storytelling which keeps the viewers captivated. Couple that with phenomenal performances and excellent direction (by Aehsun Talish) and you have a top-class product. Though the drama starts typically with boy meeting girl and the two falling in love and drags at a few points, it soon quickly moves to the main plot. Each scene flows into the next and there are no loose ends left untied in any episode. The drama does get predictable at points but the good thing is that the makers haven’t waited till the last episode to reveal all the secrets – those keep unravelling as we go on.
While the three leads – Sajal, Ahad and Adnan – all have given powerful performances, Ahad stole the show. The way he jumps from one mood into another with utmost ease is a treat to watch. His character has multiple layers and shades and Ahad executes each one of them perfectly. And of course, how can we forget to mention Sajal and Ahad’s chemistry – it’s lit as always.
One thing I’d like to add before finishing the review is that I liked how there was no shame attached to having mental problems. At several points through the drama, the lead characters encourage each other to seek proper treatment for the problems they are facing. The therapist, Dr has also been shown as a pleasant character.
If you enjoyed Yakeen Ka Safar, chances are that you will love Ye Dil Mera as well. And given that 23 episodes of the drama have aired so far and we’re all self-isolating at home, it’s a good idea to start binge-watching the drama.
Zahid Ahmed, who has proven his mettle as a versatile actor, recently apologised to the nation for choosing a script so “blindly”.
Zahid’s latest drama Mein Na Janoo, in which he shares the screen with Sanam Jung, Affan Waheed and Komal Aziz Khan, recently ended with a whopping 37 episodes. The drama failed to make a mark or impress the audiences because of it’s weak and boring storyline.
When a fan commented under Zahid’s picture that “Thank God there weren’t 58 episodes of the drama”, Zahid responded, “I apologise to the nation for this drama…next time I won’t read the script so ‘blindly’.”
Zahid had shared a picture of himself sitting on the floor.

Mein Na Janoo saw Zahid play Nain an ex-airforce pilot who had lost his vision in an accident. He was madly in love with his cousin Saira, played by Sanam Jung. Saira liked their other cousin Nehat (Affan Waheed) who liked her back. However, Saira’s evil family hates her mother so they did not want her to get married to the star of their family who is Nehat. They wanted Nehat to get married to Kiran played by Komal Aziz Khan. Eventually, after a dramatic turn of events, Saira gets married to Nain and the two begin their life together. Nehat uses every opportunity to create trouble between the newlyweds because he cannot let Saira go. The family drama also continues to the point that in true Star Plus fashion, a ‘dead’ character comes back to life. You can figure out the rest from here.
Mein Na Janoo was directed by Furqan Khan and written by Noora Makhdoom. It was jointly produced by Adnan Siddiqui’s production company Cereal Entertainment and Momina Duraid Productions.
While the drama ended up being a miss, Zahid’s acting was appreciated by his fans.
Actors, especially female actors, receiving inappropriate and suggestive messages is nothing new. While earlier female actors would brush such messages under the carpet, recently they’ve started sharing them and are naming and shaming those who send them.
Armeena Khan, who is the latest to open about this, recently shared a screenshot of an inappropriate message she receivedand her husband, Fesl Khan’s “savage” response to it.
In the message, a man who introduced himself as a Dubai-based businessman told Armeena that he came across her profile and thought that she was “so pretty” before going onto request her to meet him in Dubai after corona issue.
In reponse to the message, Armeena’s husband, Fesl replied and said: “This is Fesl Khan, Armeena Khan’s husband. I saw your message and I too like your profile picture and want to meet you. We don’t even have to wait till after the corona. I have it and as a good Muslim I’m taught to share. I’d love to share the corona with you.”
Pakistan’s superstar Mahira Khan is also stuck at home with her family during the current coronavirus outbreak. She is living with her parents and tweeted that she was making her mother a cup of tea and heating up food when she broke a plate.
While making Ama chai and warming up the food, I dropped a plate. (Freaked out a bit and was waiting for the voice of MOTHER) Suddenly Ama started screaming from her room – ‘ arraaay o mahiraaaa tumhari tankha se kattaaay ga’! 🙆🏻♀️ winning at humour as always.
Her mother heard her drop the plate and, “started screaming from her room – arraay o mahiraaa tumhari tankha se kattaaay ga!” a response that most of us have heard from our mothers as well.
Her mother won at humour, Mahira says and many agreed with her.
