    Mera Dil Yeh Pukare Aaja

Naan prices may increase to Rs35 per Naan in Lahore

The Nanbai Association of Lahore has summoned a meeting to discuss a raise in the price of roti and naan, ARY has reported.

The Association is considering raising the price of roti and naan by Rs11 in the provincial capital.

The owners of tandoors requested approval from the Lahore district administration to raise the price of naan and roti to Rs35 and Rs25 respectively, citing a hike in wheat prices for raising rates of the dietary staples.

An uptick of smuggling of wheat and subsidised flour bags to other provinces has led to the price of flour in the Punjab capital increase by Rs5 per kilogramme to Rs140.
Smuggling has exacerbated Punjab’s flour problem, increasing open-market prices to an all-time high. According to sources, subsidised flour bags were being smuggled into Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkwa at a cost of Rs2,400 per bag.

  • Woman pretends to be dead to avoid paying back loan

A woman in Indonesia faked her own death to avoid giving back a loan she owed.

The alleged scam artist — known only as “L” — reportedly owed an undisclosed sum to her associate Maya Gunawan, with the cash initially due to be paid on Nov. 20.
According to details, when the woman was unable to procure the money, she asked Gunawan to extend the payment date till Dec. 6.

That day came and went — and Gunawan was shocked when she logged onto Facebook Dec. 12 to discover a post from L’s daughter announcing her mom had been killed in a car crash.

According to the post, L had passed away following an incident on a bridge close to her home in Medan, North Sumatra. The post also said that she would be laid to rest 370 miles away in Banda Aceh.

The daughter, who claimed her mother had hacked into her Facebook account to write the lie, reportedly acknowledged the post was false.
According to the Daily Star, the picture of the gurney the daughter put up in the post was reportedly borrowed from a TV show, and the pictures of L in a shroud were taken to “make her lie more convincing.”

  • Activists speak out after actor Muneeb Butt is cast as transgender commissioner in ARY serial

Activists speak out after actor Muneeb Butt is cast as transgender commissioner in ARY serial

Actor Muneeb Butt had announced on social media two days ago that he would be playing the first ever transgender Assistant Commissioner in an ARY television serial. Butt had written in the post that this was a role that would break stereotypes in our society.

However, transgender activists were furious about this casting choice and responded by pointing out that the role would have been more empowering had a transgender person been cast.

Transgender activists on Twitter shared that there were many trans people who were unemployed and who deserved good, authentic representation on public platforms, hence it was unnecessary to hire a man to play this role.

Another trans user called this decision ‘dangerous’ because the entertainment will keep on capitalising on transgender issues, rather than employ members of the trans community and bring them to the table.

So hopefully, our industry should be mindful about writing stories about minorities and be sure to invite members of said community while giving them the chance to tell these stories themselves without speaking over them. One of the foremost essential demands made by the transgender community is to be granted equal opportunity and rights as anyone else in Pakistan, and we can assure that by allowing them to tell their own stories without censoring them.

Greta Thunberg wins the internet with befitting clap back to incel king Andrew Tate

When will grown men on the internet stop coming after young girls and attempting to silence them? Climate change activist Greta Thunberg is one of the most vocal voices against climate change. The young girl has been a prime target for insecure men who send her trolling messages.

This time though, Thumberg has clapped back and done so with a thunderous bang.

Dirt bag Andrew Tate tried to harass Greta by tagging her in a post where he boasted about the number of cars he had and the emissions they would release.
Greta had a befitting reply to him. The tweet has already gained 2.2 million likes.

After this amazing exchange, the top trends on Pakistani Twitter included #smalldickenergy, Andrew Tate and Take An L.

Sometime later, Andrew Tate responded with a video clip where he accused Greta of being involved in the matrix, and told his followers that she is trying to get people to convince their government to tax them into poverty.

Still a weak crybaby, but that’s what you get for harassing powerful girls like Greta.

  • ‘If my mother or sister can’t study, then I won’t accept this education’, Afghan professor tears up diploma in protest against ban on women’s education

‘If my mother or sister can’t study, then I won’t accept this education’, Afghan professor tears up diploma in protest against ban on women’s education

A professor from Kabul University tore up his diploma during a live news interview, protesting against the ban on women’s education placed by the Taliban administration.
“From today I don’t need these diplomas anymore because this country is no place for getting education. If my sister & my mother can’t study, then I DON’T accept this education,” the emotional Professor stated.

The act of revolt comes after the Taliban placed a ban on female education across the country. The Acting Higher Education Minister Neda Mohammad Nadeem said the ban was a result of women wearing inappropriate clothes and interacting with men.
“They didn’t observe Hijab; they were coming with the clothes that most women wear to a wedding,” he said.

The controversial decision has led to a rise of protests all over the country, with video clips emerging on social media, showing men choosing to walk out of university in protest against the ban.
