    Petrol price goes up by Rs10.49 per litre

    The federal government has issued a notice to increase the price of petrol by Rs10.49 per litre. Apart from this, the price of high speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs12.44 per litre.

    The prices of kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO) have been increased by Rs10.95 and Rs8.84 per litre respectively. The new price of kerosene is Rs110.26 per litre and that of LDO is Rs108.35 per litre.

    The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has sent a summary to Prime Minister Imran Khan for the approval to increase the price of petrol by Rs5.90 per litre, Geo News has reported. The petrol prices are likely to be increased on October 16, 2021 as per sources of Geo News.

    If approved, The petrol prices can reach up to Rs133.2. In addition, Ogra has recommenced an increase in high-speed diesel price by Rs10.

    In early October, the government had increased the price of petrol by Rs4 per litre taking its price to a record level of Rs127.30 per litre.

    Prime suspect in Gojra motorway gang-rape taken into custody

    The prime suspect in the gang-rape case of an 18-year-old woman on the M-4 motorway in Gojra has been arrested, reported Geo News.

    According to the Punjab Police, the main suspect is under interrogation, while a search is underway to find the other suspects.

    Moreover, the police have confirmed that the rape survivor underwent medical examination and a DNA sample is being taken, adding that the action has been initiated to arrest the other suspects.

    The suspects lured the young woman from Toba Tek Singh on the pretext of offering her a job.

    In the First Information Report (FIR), the survivor’s paternal aunt said that her 18-year-old niece received a message on her mobile phone for a job interview in Gojra.

    Her aunt said that upon reaching the place, the suspects put the survivor into a car, raped her on the motorway, and fled after throwing her at the Faisalabad Interchange.

    Zahir Jaffer, the prime suspect in Noor Mukadam case, has accused his father Zakir Jaffer for asking him to get rid of Noor, Urdu News has reported. Zahir Jaffer gave this statement while addressing Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani.

    During the hearing, Zahir Jaffer knelt down in the court room and kept apologising.

    An Islamabad court today indicted Zahir Jaffer, his parents and three others in Noor Mukadam murder case. In addition to Jaffer, two of the family’s employees, Jamil and Jan Mohammad, as well as the CEO of Therapy Works, Tahir Zahoor, have been charged.

    Zahir confessed of murdering Noor saying, “because she presented herself and was willing to be sacrificed.”

    Zahir During the hearing said, “We had arguments, but if these people [Therapy Works staff] didn’t come in, this [the murder] would not have happened.” During the hearing, while addressing Noor’s father Zahir said, “I was in a relationship with your daughter for the last three years. My life is now in your hands. Please have mercy on me.” “But if you want to see me hanged, it’s okay and I’m ready for it.”

    Guinness World Records has declared a Turkish woman as the tallest female alive in the world, Khaleej Times reported.

    The 24-year-old woman, Rumeysa Gelgi, has been named as the tallest woman with the height of 7ft 0.7in (215.16cm).

    Guinness World Records awarded the title to Gelgi, who got her first recognition in 2014 when she was named the tallest teenager at the age of 17.

    Her tall physique was brought about by Weaver syndrome, an extremely rare condition, which causes faster growth, among other abnormalities including skeletal maturation.

    Aged 24, Gelgi has been re-measured and confirmed as the GWR title holder for the tallest woman alive.

    She said she felt “proud” and “unique”. Gelgi is mostly wheelchair-bound but can walk using a walker.

    Mohatta Palace to be turned into medical college, rules Sindh High Court

    The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ruled that the Mohatta Palace will turned into a medical and dental college for girls, SAMAA has reported. The Mohatta Palace is officially called as Qasr-e-Fatima. The SHC also added that the medical college should include a hostel.

    A trust should be established to look after the affairs of the medical college and the hospital, the court said and adjourned the case till November 1.

    In addition, some names have been recommended to run the trust, including Dr Abdul Bari of Indus Hospital, SIUT’s Dr Adib Rizvi, Justice (retd) Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice (retd) Fahim Siddiqui and the court has ordered the authorities to seek consent from the recommended people to include them in the trust.

    The ruling was issued in the case involving a long-running dispute over late Fatima Jinnah’s heritage property in Clifton. A suit was filed in 1971 by Hussain Waliji, a relative of Miss Jinnah, about the administration of her moveable and immovable properties, including Qasr-e-Fatima.

  • VIDEO: Minor driver cries after hitting a car in Karachi

    A 12-year-old boy, driving a car in Karachi, hit another vehicle at the city’s Memon Goth Road, ARY News reported.

    The video shows a teenage boy along with four other kids, riding an expensive car and smashing it into another vehicle due to overspeeding.

    The boys can be seen crying and apologising when they were caught by the owner of the other vehicle.

    The owner in the video alleges that the boy said that his father is a policeman and they are coming from Memon Goth. The owner of the damaged vehicle informed the police as well, which arrived and caught the children.

    The police said the children were released, later, after warning as the parents had assured not to let them drive again and keep an eye on them

    According to a notification issued by the Punjab Provincial Transport Authority (PPTA), there will be “no music/movie or vulgarity [will] be tuned/displayed in all type of transport vehicles” till 12th Rabiul Awal. The government of Punjab has declared to celebrate Shan-e-Rehmataul-Lil-Alameen (ﷺ) from a1st Rabiul Awal till 12 Rabiul Awal, reports Geo News.

    The notification issued by the PPTA says, “It is desired that during these days no music/movie or vulgarity be tuned/displayed in all types transport vehicles except recitation of Holy Quran, Hamds and Naats especially in the wake of Shan-e-Rehmataul-Lil-Alameen (ﷺ) celebrations.”

    Punjab boards to announce matric, intermediate results in 48 hours

    All Punjab education boards will announce the results of the Matric and Intermediate Annual Examinations 2021 within 48 hours, reports Khalid Khattak for Geo News.

    Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz said that all the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) had already prepared results, expressing the hope that the results would be announced soon in Punjab.

    There are a total of nine education boards in Punjab including BISE of Lahore, DG Khan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, and Sahiwal.

    Students gave their board exams in August and since then no result date was announced.

    To facilitate students, it was also decided that all candidates who failed in any subject would be given 33 per cent marks for the purpose of computing averages.

    School sweeper arrested for raping fifth-grader in Sheikhupura

    Police arrested a sweeper at a government school in Sheikhupura for raping a fifth-grader inside the school, Shahbaz Khan reported for Samaa News.

    Younas Masih was arrested on Monday after the child’s mother reported the case at Housing Colony Police Station, Sheikhupura.

    The mother alleged that after her child told her that she was assaulted by the sweeper at the school, she went to the police but they did not listen to her.

    She then had to go to the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau who helped her register the case.

    The child’s medical examination  at the District Headquarters Hospital had confirmed the sexual assault

    Police said the suspect has confessed to the crime.

    The suspect said that he used to buy the child shawarmas. “One day I forcefully took her to the washroom.”

    A report sent by the principal to the District Education Authority said that Younas was detained from the school gate on Monday around 10:30am.

    After Younas was caught, the principal formed a four-member internal committee to probe the incident.

    Sheikhupura police presented the suspect before a local court on Tuesday. The court sent Younas on three-day physical remand.
