    Civilian martyred in Indian army LOC firing: ISPR

    According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Indian troops engaged in unjustified gunfire on a group of shepherds in the Sattwal Sector across the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in the death of one civilian and injury to two others.

    According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, “Indian Army, in a display of its usual inhumane approach towards innocent Kashmiris, opened indiscriminate fire onto a group of shepherds in the Sattwal Sector.”


    As a result of the firing, one civilian embraced martyrdom, and two others are in critical condition.


    “Driven by a newfound geo-political patronage, Indian forces have embarked on a plan to take innocent lives to satiate their false narratives and concocted allegations”, the military said.

    Miftah Ismail resigns as General Secretary of PML-N Sindh, leaves all committees

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Miftah Ismail has resigned as General Secretary of the Sindh chapter of the party. The former finance minister has also resigned from all party committees, Geo has reported.

    “Given the upcoming reorganisation of the party structure, I think it’s time for me to make official what is already true and move on”, wrote Miftah in a letter to PML-N General Secretary and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal.

    “I therefore tender my resignation as General Secretary of PML-N Sindh and also resign from all party committees.”

    Earlier, PML-N, Senior Vice President, Maryam Nawaz, while talking to senior party leaders, expressed disappointment with the performance of Miftah.

    Maryam Nawaz further said that Miftah will not be given any important party position in the future.

    Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has said in a tweet that government ministers are openly refusing to follow the orders of the Supreme Court, calling it the law of the jungle.

    “If anyone had any doubts about the law of the jungle prevailing in Pakistan where might is right, all those doubts should be removed after the recent statements of the government ministers openly refusing to obey the SC verdict if its against military courts. It also reflects the PDM’s desperation to avoid elections and hide behind the establishment,” the former Prime Minister wrote in a tweet posted on Saturday afternoon.

    After May 9 riots, it has been decided that those involved in the attacks on military installations will be tried in military courts.

    The Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), Mansoor Usman Awan, has told the Supreme Court (SC) on Friday that 102 people are currently in the army’s custody for trials.

    May 9 riots: National Commission for Human Rights releases fact-sheet on the condition of prisoners

    National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) has complied a fact sheet on the allegations of torture and sexual abuse of prisoners who were arrested in connection with May 9 riots. The report has been compiled in collaboration with Justice Project Pakistan and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.

    The fact-sheet read that one third of male prisoners complained about the use of force during arrest. The brief report further added that most prisoners were not told about the grounds of the arrest.

    However, contrary to the allegations made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, no female prisoner complained about torture or sexual abuse.

    As per the report, most jails were overcrowded, housing prisoners beyond their official capacity, while most prisoners were unaware of their rights.

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice-president Maryam Nawaz has left for Dubai as the Sharif family plans to celebrate Eid-Ul-Azha in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) together.

    According to media reports, Nawaz Sharif has already reached Dubai.

    “Vice President and Chief Organizer of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Maryam Nawaz Sharif has left for Dubai on a private visit. Party leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has already reached Dubai. Other family members are also with him,” Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb tweeted.


    Reportedly, Maryam Nawaz will go to London after her visit to Dubai, however, Maryam Aurangzeb didn’t give further information about their huddle in Dubai.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday, took to twitter to blame the present government for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United States (US) President Joe Biden’s joint statement that asked Pakistan to stop supporting terrorism.

    “Gen Bajwa along with his PDM cronies claimed that I had isolated Pakistan internationally. The question we want to ask him and PDM is that after a year in government and countless trips of Pakistan’s FM to the US, the joint India/US statement reduces Pakistan to a promoter of cross-border terrorism in India and nothing more. No balancing statement about the gross human rights abuse in Kashmir or the appalling treatment of minorities (esp Muslims) in India. So now the imported govt experiment has not just made Pakistan irrelevant internationally but our democracy, rule of law and the entire economic and institutional structure is also collapsing right in front of our eyes,” wrote Imran while sharing the screenshot of the statement.

    Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in response to Imran Khan’s tweet, shared a screenshot of a US-India joint statement released after the Modi-Trump meeting of 2020, during Imran Khan’s tenure as Prime Minister. The statement issued during Imran Khan’s government and the statement issued this week have identical wording.

    Bilawal added a playful emoji in his tweet.

    102 people in army’s custody, AGP tells SC

    Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), Mansoor Usman Awan, has told the Supreme Court (SC) on Friday that 102 people are currently in the army’s custody for trials.

    A seven-member bench included Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Yayha Afridi, Justice Sayyed Ma­­zahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Ayesha Malik hearing the petition.

    The AGP took to the rostrum in today’s hearing and told the seven member bench that 102 people are in the custody of the military, adding that no journalist or lawyer is included in the list.

    No minors or women are in the custody of the army, he added.

    Authorities had doubts about one of the people because his age is less than 18, and if his age is less than 18, he will be released, the AGP told the Supreme Court.

    A day earlier, the Chief Justice ignored a request for a stay order to stop the trial of civilians in the military courts by saying that it was not possible before listening to the AGP.

    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that as part of his interactions during the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact, he drew world leaders’ attention to the exogenous shocks that created polycrisis for developing countries like Pakistan.

    In a statement issued by the Premier, it is mentioned that shocks from floods badly affected stalling growth. “Supply chain disruption became the reason for back-breaking inflation, and Pakistan faced a $30 billion loss due to an unprecedented flood,” it read.

    The PM also mentioned that it’s essential for the international community to deliver on the commitments they made at COP 27 in Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt, adding that the operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund should be based on the principle of equity.

    “The world should also use the present economic and climate turbulence as an opportunity for course correction,” the PM stated.

    He has also said, “The starting point could be rethinking the global financial architecture where International Financial Institutions (IFIs) design their programmes to be pro-growth and aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate justice goals.”

    Lal Masjid’s Maulana Abdul Aziz booked for firing at police

    Lal Masjid’s Maulana Abdul Aziz has been booked on terror charges along with four others, for opening fire on police officials on Wednesday.


    The case was registered at a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station. The first information report (FIR) invokes six sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including 324 (attempt to commit murder), as well as sections 7 (punishment for acts of terrorism) and 11E (measure to be taken against a proscribed organization) of the Anti-Terrorism Act.


    On Wednesday, a CTD team went to the Lal Masjid area to ask him to present himself for answering queries. However, a “suspicious” vehicle opened fire on the police.

    According to the FIR, Aziz’s name is listed in the ATA’s fourth category, which states that anyone suspected of supporting terrorism must be kept under watch.


    The FIR further said Aziz and other people in the car opened fire on the cops with the intention of killing them.

    Modi, Biden demand Pakistan should take the initiative to end ‘cross-border terrorism’

    United States (US) President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi have demanded that Pakistan should ensure that Pakistani land will not be used by terrorists.

    Indian premier is currently visiting the United States.

    The statement has been issued after a meeting between Biden and Modi.

    Both leaders have demanded action against terrorist groups allegedly based in Pakistan, including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.

    “They strongly condemned cross-border terrorism, the use of terrorist proxies and called on Pakistan to take immediate action to ensure that no territory under its control is used for launching terrorist attacks,” the 58-point statement issued by the White House read.

    Both the leaders demanded action against perpetrators of attacks, including the Mumbai and Pathankot incidents.

    The leaders have also demanded that the Afghan Taliban should respect human rights, and the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan.
