Imran Khan not being allowed to use THIS electric item

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s legal counsel Naeem Haider Panjutha has said that his high-profile client isn’t being allowed the use of an electric item in jail.

Talking to journalists outside Adiala Jail, he recorded his protest that, “Imran Khan isn’t being allowed to use an electronic toothbrush.”

The lawyer further said, “He [Imran Khan] has asked for the electronic brush many times, but there is a ban on its use for him and many other things like it.”

Moving on from the pressing matter of toothbrushes, Panjutha spoke on the recent arrest of former ISI Chief Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, quoting Khan: “If I was worried about anything, then I wouldn’t have suggested the formation of a judicial commission.”

Imran Khan, while discussing the May 9 cases, remarked, “It would take one hour to complete the cases of May 9, but they’re not doing it because they are liars.”

Sharing is caring, electricity relief shouldn’t just be for Punjab: Mustafa Kamal

Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Mustafa Kamal, while addressing a press conference in Karachi, criticized the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) led government for announcing electricity relief only for Punjab.

“Relief on electricity bills should be provided nationwide instead of only for Punjab,” he said.

Kamal also rejected the electricity bill relief, stating that the PML-N is not only a party representing Punjab but should also represent the entire country.

“These IPPs have already earned billions of rupees through their services, and the government should engage in dialogue with both foreign and local electricity-producing companies about the current economic situation,” he added, commenting on Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

Kamal emphasised that IPPs, which have become obsolete, should be discarded immediately.

Advocate Nadeem filed the petition stating that the internet shutdown should be declared unconstitutional and the government should ensure smooth internet.
The petition stated that ‘’Internet shutdown is a violation of Constitution Article 9 (personal security), 18 (freedom of business), article 19 (freedom of speech).”

“Apart from the general public, hundreds, if not thousands, of companies have also been affected. Ride-hailing companies like Bykea, Careem and InDrive have taken the brunt, as their users —drivers and passengers — need mobile data on the go,” the petition read.

After Gen Faiz, Gen Bajwa won’t be spared: Hamid Mir

Journalist Hamid Mir, appearing on the Geo News last night, remarked that former Army Chief Gen Bajwa will “not be spared” because he knew everything that former ISI Chief Faiz Hameed was doing.

“Imran Khan was being used not only by General Faiz Hameed but also by former Army Chief General Bajwa”, stated Mir.

Hamid Mir also said, “There are dozens of people in Pakistan who are related to many other fields, including politics, who are ready to come to the media and describe that General Faiz Hameed had committed robberies against them.”

He further stated that the former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association told him about a similar incident that happened to him. According to Mir, General Bajwa contacted the former president of SCBA through a religious scholar and apologised to him personally.

Hamir Mir stated, “This means that he [Bajwa] knew what Faiz was doing.”

I am a victim of Gen Faiz Hameed: Ishaq Dar

Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, on Friday, revealed that the former ISI Chief, Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, who is currently facing a court-martial by Pakistan Army, once apologised to him for “victimising” him.

“I am among the victims of Faiz Hameed,” said the deputy PM, skipping details about his allegations against Hameed.

Last week, Gen Faiz was taken into custody by the military along with the initiation of court martial proceedings against him for allegedly victimising the owner of Top City Housing Society in the federal capital.

Dar opined that this development was unprecedented in Pakistan, adding that his arrest indicated the end of a project started in 2011.

All hail the economic expert; PM drops British economist for Ishaq Dar

In a major plot twist, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, “unimpressed” with British economist Stefan Dercon’s work on a new economic agenda, has delegated the responsibility of developing the new agenda to PML-N’s all-weather economic tsar, Ishaq Dar.

Previously, the PM sought the British economist’s expertise overseeing the government’s new economic agenda for the next five years.

It was reported that the PM would announce the agenda on August 14, Pakistan’s Independence Day; however, this wasn’t the case.

According to a notification, the premier has constituted a seven-member ministerial committee, chaired by Dar, to review the draft of the Dercon Plan.

Interestingly, Shehbaz Sharif came under intense criticism from experts for his decision to hire a foreign economist.

Express Tribune reported that the Deron plan essentially reiterated ideas already known to the public and experts.

“There is nothing new or extraordinary in Stefan Dercon’s plan,” a senior cabinet member remarked.

Ishaq Dar is currently heading nearly two dozen committees, mainly dealing with economic issues and managing relations with political allies.
