India targets 15-year-old Pakistani player, gets exposed

Pakistan’s U16 Davis Cup campaign in Kazakhstan ended with a tough 0-2 loss against India in the 11th-place playoff match of the Asia-Oceania Junior Davis Cup. However, Indian media once again turned a sporting event into a propaganda opportunity by targeting a 15-year-old Pakistani player through a misleading video.

A short video clip went viral three days after the match, showing the young Pakistani player appearing frustrated and making a hand gesture, followed by a shrug. Indian media outlets quickly twisted the footage, labelling the player as aggressive and unsportsmanlike. This one-sided narrative was widely circulated on Indian social media, triggering a wave of hateful comments from Indian users on X (formerly Twitter).

Pakistani sports journalist Faizan Lakhani, however, stepped in to clarify the truth and call out the biased reporting.

“Give the kid a break. He’s only 15 years old. He lost the match from a leading position and was frustrated with himself after such a tense game. Post the full video showing the player’s frustration after the loss, including how he cried afterwards. In the video, he can be heard saying, ‘I’m not mad at you’,” Lakhani stated.

He further added, “The coaches from both sides shook hands as well. If there had been anything unsportsmanlike, the ITF would have fined the Pakistan team. Targeting a 15-year-old kid to push your hateful agenda is pathetic stuff.”

The full version of the video, which Indian media did not show, captures the emotional moment when the Pakistani player breaks down in tears. His frustration was clearly directed at himself, not his Indian opponent. He even clarified during the interaction that he held no anger toward the Indian player.

Yet, Indian social media users on X have posted abusive, hateful, and vulgar remarks directed at the 15-year-old Pakistani player.

Most one-sided match in history? Team bowled out for 2 runs chasing 427

The Middlesex County Cricket League match ended in a complete collapse after Richmond Cricket Club was bowled out for just two runs in 5.4 overs while chasing a massive target of 427. The 424-run defeat ranks among the most one-sided in the league’s history.

Batting first, North London CC managed 426 for 6 in 45 overs. Their innings were powered by a brilliant 140-run knock from Dan Symonds, with Jack Leuth and Nabeel Abraham contributing 42 and 43 runs respectively.

Chasing the target, Richmond’s batting turned into a complete disaster. The batting line-up of eight batters crumbled under pressure without scoring, and the team was bundled out in just 34 balls, scoring only two runs in total.

The defeat came as a shock, given Richmond CC’s rich history dating back to 1862. The club once counted Australian legend Adam Gilchrist among its players.

The performance has drawn comparisons with one of the lowest scores in first-class cricket, six runs, recorded in 1810. Richmond’s outing will surely go down as one of the bleakest moments in modern club cricket.

‘This chapter is over’: Cristiano Ronaldo hints at Al Nassr exit

Cristiano Ronaldo may have played his final match for Al Nassr. On Monday, he scored in the team’s last Saudi Pro League game of the season against Al Fateh. Despite his effort, Al Nassr lost 3-2.

Soon after the match, Ronaldo posted a photo of himself in the Al Nassr jersey along with a message that sparked speculation. He wrote, “This chapter is over. The story? It’s still being written. Thanks to all.” Many fans took this as a sign that he could be saying goodbye to the club.

Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nassr ends in June. Although he finished the season as the league’s top scorer with 25 goals, Al Nassr failed to qualify for the next AFC Champions League.

In the match against Al Fateh, Ronaldo scored his 99th goal for the club in just 105 appearances. He now has 937 official career goals, 801 of them at club level.

Rumours are now circulating about his next move. Reports suggest that a Brazilian club has made him a big offer. If he accepts, Ronaldo could feature in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, taking place in the United States from June 14 to July 13. Brazilian clubs, including Botafogo, Fluminense, Flamengo, and Palmeiras, are set to compete in the tournament.

  • Wasim Akram endorses THIS legend as Pakistan’s batting coach

Wasim Akram endorses THIS legend as Pakistan’s batting coach

Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram has endorsed former captain Younis Khan as a strong candidate for the role of head coach of Pakistan’s red-ball Test cricket team.

Speaking at a ceremony in Karachi, Akram shared his thoughts on the national team’s coaching setup and emphasised Younis Khan’s importance in red-ball cricket. “Younis Khan can be a good option as a batting coach for red-ball cricket,” he said. “Younis is very special for Pakistan cricket. I don’t know what the issue is between the PCB [Pakistan Cricket Board] and Younis Khan.”

“The new coach can help change the mindset of the younger players. We need to stop expecting instant results; our players have to become mentally and physically strong,” he added.

Wasim Akram urged fans to be patient with the new coaching setup. “We rush for results too quickly. A new coach needs time to settle in and deliver,” he emphasised.

The former left-arm fast bowler also expressed concern over Pakistan’s declining performance in the longest format. “Pakistan has fallen far behind in red-ball cricket,” he noted.

Akram said the decision on the Pakistan-India cricket rivalry lies beyond the cricket boards. “We all want to see Pakistan and India play cricket,” he stated. “But the decision on this must be made by both governments. I can’t comment much on the issue.”

While reviewing the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, Akram praised the emergence of young talent, naming Hassan Nawaz, Ali Raza, and Salman Mirza among those who impressed. “These young players showcased their potential,” he said.

Akram also applauded the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and supporting departments for successfully organising the league despite delays. “Even though many technical staff, including DRS officials, couldn’t return, the way the PCB handled things was commendable,” he said.

Regarding the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, Akram played down concerns over the possible absence of big names. “If Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, or Shaheen Afridi miss a couple of matches, it’s not a big issue,” he said. “They still have a lot of cricket left in them, but the new players in the squad need proper mental grooming.”

Recently, Aqib Javed was appointed as the Director of High Performance, while former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson took charge as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach.

Hesson’s first task will be leading the national team in a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled to take place at home from May 28 to June 1.

The Bangladesh squad, captained by Litton Das, has already arrived in Pakistan and is set to begin training tonight ahead of the much-anticipated series.

Meanwhile, the Men in Green will wrap up their white-ball commitments before turning their focus to the red-ball format as part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 cycle.

After the 2025 Asia Cup in September, Pakistan is expected to host South Africa in October for a two-match Test series, along with three ODIs and three T20Is.

  • ‘Money can do anything’: Imad Wasim reacts to Sikandar Raza’s PSL heroics

‘Money can do anything’: Imad Wasim reacts to Sikandar Raza’s PSL heroics

Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim, who also played for Islamabad United, praised Zimbabwean cricketer Sikandar Raza’s brilliant performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final during a recent talk show appearance.

“Of course, we know him as a stellar player from Zimbabwe, but his commitment to Lahore Qalandars and to the PSL is exceptional,” Wasim remarked.

“Yes, money can do things for you. If you get paid, you will come. I travel a lot. So I travel for 24 hours straight as well. Money can do different things… A great human being and a proper team man. Good player, and you can call him a match-winner now,” he added.

These compliments came after Sunday night’s thrilling final, when Lahore Qalandars won their third PSL title by defeating Quetta Gladiators in a last-over finish. Chasing a target of 202 runs, Sikandar Raza’s stunning cameo turned the game around in the final moments and sealed the victory for Lahore.

The talk of the evening, however, was his exhausting travel schedule. Having just played a Test match for Zimbabwe against England, he took a 7-hour flight from Birmingham to Dubai, a 1.5-hour drive to Abu Dhabi, followed by a 3.5-hour flight to Lahore. He arrived at the stadium only 10 minutes before the toss.

Despite this hectic trip, Raza stepped up when the team was under pressure and delivered his best. With eight runs needed off the last three balls, he smashed a six and a four to finish unbeaten on 22 off just seven balls.

After the match, Raza said, “I had dinner in Birmingham, breakfast in Dubai, and drove to Abu Dhabi for lunch. I took a flight and had dinner in Pakistan. This is the life of a professional cricketer. I’m truly humbled and blessed to have this life.”

Quetta posted a target of 201 for 9,  with Mohammad Nawaz scoring 76 runs and quick contributions from Faheem Ashraf and Avishka Fernando. Lahore’s bowlers, however, took the lead with Shaheen Afridi taking three wickets, while Haris Rauf and Salman Mirza claimed two wickets each.

In Lahore’s chase, Mohammad Naeem scored a fiery 47, while Kusal Perera remained not out on 62. But it was Sikandar Raza’s dramatic finish that stole the show and turned him into the match-winner Imad Wasim proudly spoke of.

PSL 10 sets multiple new records

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 concluded with a thriller final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, where Lahore Qalandars won their third title by defeating Quetta Gladiators in a high-scoring match.

Batting first, Quetta Gladiators posted a competitive target of 201 for 8 in their 20 overs. Lahore Qalandars, however, chased down the target with just one ball to spare, losing four wickets in process.

Records and highlights from PSL X:

    Shaheen Shah Afridi’s captaincy

Lahore Qalandars won their third PSL title this year under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has now become the most successful captain in PSL history. The team had previously lifted the trophy in 2022 and 2023. No other captain has won the title more than once.

    Poor fielding

A record-breaking 96 catches were dropped this season, in addition to a number of misfields and missed stumping, the worst fielding performance in PSL history so far.

    Muhammad Naeem’s six-hitting feat

Lahore Qalandar’s young talent, Muhammad Naeem, made history by hitting six sixes in the final, becoming the first player to achieve this feat in a PSL final. He scored 47 off 27 balls, with 315 runs in 12 matches at an average of 28.63.

    Lahore Qalandars’ unique achievement

Lahore Qalandars became the first team to successfully chase over 200 runs in a T20 final, not just in PSL but across all franchise leagues. In comparison, Quetta Gladiators became the only team to lose a T20 final despite scoring more than 200.

    Most sixes in PSL history

PSL 10 also set a record for most sixes in a single season, with 500 sixes smashed across all matches, making it the highest in the league yet.

  • Rafael Nadal gets emotional farewell at French Open

Rafael Nadal gets emotional farewell at French Open

Rafael Nadal, famously known as the King of Clay for his unmatched brilliance at the French Open, received a heartfelt farewell on Sunday from the very tournament that defined his legendary career.

The 14-time French Open champion at the premier clay court was honoured in a special ceremony at Court Philippe-Chatrier, the arena where he carved his name into tennis history. The tribute concluded with a symbolic gesture, unveiling a plaque of Nadal’s footprint and signature – a permanent reminder of his dominance on clay.

“It was perfect,” Nadal said. “I could not have expected a more emotional day. It was unforgettable with plenty of emotions.”

To make the day even more special, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray all came to Paris to join him. The “Big Four” of men’s tennis shared the court once again.

“All the nerves and pressure from our matches, it all felt different today,” Nadal said. “We fought hard for titles, but we respected each other.”

Nadal played 115 matches at the French Open and won the title 14 times; an unmatched record in clay court history.

During the farewell ceremony, a tribute video highlighted some of his most iconic moments at Roland Garros. The fans, all wearing clay-coloured shirts handed out by organisers, filled the stadium with chants of “Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!”

This farewell was not just a goodbye, but a celebration of a tennis legend. Roland Garros will always be Nadal’s court.

  • Pakistan’s Bano Kausar defeats India’s Richa Sharma in Asian Ju-Jitsu final

Pakistan’s Bano Kausar defeats India’s Richa Sharma in Asian Ju-Jitsu final

Bano Kausar won Pakistan’s only gold medal at the 9th Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship 2025 by defeating India’s Richa Sharma in the final of the women’s 48kg contact category. The event was held in Amman, Jordan, with athletes from over 35 countries participating.

Bano reached the final after a semi-final win over Thailand’s Sugun Nutchaya. Although it was her debut at the Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship, she had already made a name for herself in mixed martial arts. Her transition to Ju-Jitsu has expanded her presence in international combat sports.

Pakistan’s team at the championship consisted of only six athletes, three men and three women, all of whom competed without financial support from the Pakistan Sports Board or the Pakistan Olympic Association. The athletes covered all expenses out of their own pockets.

Despite the limited resources, Pakistan managed to secure four medals. Alongside Bano’s gold, bronze medals were won in the duo events by Muhammad Ali Rashid and Muhammad Yousuf Ali in the men’s category, and by Isra Waseem and Kainat Arif in the women’s category.

The Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation (PJJF), which has continued its efforts despite funding challenges, credited coach M. Altaf for discovering and honing Bano’s talent. His commitment to coaching under such constraints was acknowledged by the federation.

Officials from the PJJF and other sporting authorities, including the Inter-Provincial Coordination Ministry, extended their congratulations, though notably only after the medals had been won. The athletes competed without any institutional backing.

With over 500 participants in the tournament, Pakistan’s small contingent still succeeded in raising the national flag on the podium. Bano’s gold medal, achieved against the odds, stands as a landmark moment for Pakistani martial arts, reflecting not just the victory itself but the resilience and determination behind it.

  • Lahore Qalandars pull off biggest run chase in history of T20 finals

Lahore Qalandars pull off biggest run chase in history of T20 finals

Lahore Qalandars made history on May 25 after successfully chasing down 202 runs against Quetta Gladiators, the highest-ever run chase in the final of any T20 franchise competition. While the match was a nail-biter, the biggest talking point was the dramatic, last-minute arrival of Sikandar Raza.

Having just played a Test match for Zimbabwe against England, Raza reached the stadium only ten minutes before the toss for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) X final, and ended up being the match-winner.

With Lahore needing 47 runs from the final three overs, Raza stepped up and smashed 22 off just seven balls, hitting two sixes and two fours. He guided the Qalandars to victory with just one ball left, helping them chase down the target and setting a new record. This broke the previous record set by Kolkata Knight Riders, who chased 200 in the 2014 IPL final.

Quetta Gladiators had set a strong total of 202 following a brilliant 76 off 43 balls from Hasan Nawaz, which included 12 boundaries. Faheem Ashraf added in 28 runs off just eight balls, giving Quetta a strong finish.

But it was Sikandar Raza’s heroics that stole the show. Just hours before the game, he had been travelling across continents. “I bowled 25 overs the day before yesterday, batted for over 20 overs yesterday, had dinner in Birmingham, breakfast in Dubai, lunch in Abu Dhabi, and dinner in Pakistan,” he shared after the match.

This victory marked Lahore Qalandars’ third PSL title, and a record third trophy for Shaheen Shah Afridi as captain.
