  • Bumrah points to Imran Khan to explain why fast bowlers make good captains

Bumrah points to Imran Khan to explain why fast bowlers make good captains

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah used former Pakistan cricket team captain Imran Khan as an example to explain why fast bowlers prove to be the best captains.

The 30-year-old recently played a vital role in India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 and was awarded the man of the tournament due to his excellent bowling.

In an interview with Indian media, Jasprit Bumrah said, “I think bowlers are smart because they have to get the batter out. The bowlers have a tough job and don’t hide behind the bat. A lot depends on us, and the blame is placed on the bowlers when a match is lost.”

“We have seen the captaincy of Pat Cummins; as a child, I saw Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis as captains, Kapil Dev won us the World Cup, and Imran Khan won the World Cup for Pakistan, so bowlers are smart.”

The pacer added, “Rohit Sharma is one of the few captains who, despite being a batsman, has compassion for the bowlers. He understands the players’ emotions and knows what the player is going through. Rohit is not strict; he gives feedback, and he relies less on planning and more on his sixth sense.”

Bumrah took 15 wickets in the recent T20 World Cup and played a vital role in the group match against Pakistan and the final game against South Africa.

Ihsanullah’s father appeals to PCB to save his son’s career

Fast bowler Ihsanullah’s father, Abdul Naseer, has appealed to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to rehabilitate his son at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Lahore to save his career from an untimely end.

He has been suffering from an elbow injury for more than a year, during which he underwent a surgery and a check-up in England, after which a PCB committee raised questions about the treatment and then suggested a long rehab.

Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi took action on this matter, ordered his complete care, and decided to rehabilitate him in his hometown of Swat.

Talking to the media in Lahore, Ihsanullah’s father, Abdul Naseer, said, “My son is not being well cared for in Swat. He should be rehabilitated in NCA because there are no facilities in Swat, and the best doctors are not available. To save my son’s career, call him to NCA so his treatment can be completed and he can play. We are grateful to Mohsin Naqvi, but my son’s career is at stake due to the lack of facilities in Swat.”

Ihsan is currently Pakistan’s fastest bowler. He was injured during the white-ball home series against New Zealand last April.

  • Why did India reject offer to host Women’s T20 World Cup?

Why did India reject offer to host Women’s T20 World Cup?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rejected the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) offer to host the Women’s T20 World Cup, which was initially scheduled to be held in Bangladesh this year.

“They [ICC] have asked us if we would conduct the World Cup. I have categorically said no,” Secretary BCCI J Shah told Times of India. “We’re in the monsoon and on top of that we will host the Women’s ODI World Cup next year. I don’t want to give any kind of signals that I want to hold consecutive World Cups.”
