    PCB asks BCCI for written evidence of govt refusal

    The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for written proof of the Indian government’s refusal to allow Pakistan to host the Champions Trophy 2025.

    PCB has said that if the Indian government refuses to allow its team to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025, it should be in writing, an Indian News Agency has reported. The Indian Cricket Board will provide the letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

    PCB sources added that India should have informed them and the ICC in writing about their arrival at least five to six months before the tournament.

    Last year, BCCI refused to play the Asia Cup in Pakistan by putting pressure on the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), due to which the tournament was played in Sri Lanka and Pakistan as a ‘hybrid model’.

    However, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi has clarified to the ICC that he will not back down from hosting the Champions Trophy 2025. ICC is responsible for India’s participation in the event.

    Indian media published reports that the ICC has started considering transferring the tournament from Pakistan, but later, the vice president of the Indian board, Rajeev Shukla, rejected these reports.

    Hardik was Rohit’s deputy in the T20 World Cup and is a more experienced captain, leading India in three ODIs and 16 T20Is and leading Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

    Suryakumar has captained Mumbai Indians in IPL and also led India in the T20 series against Australia last November.

    The Pakistan cricket team will visit New Zealand next year for a white-ball series, during which they will play 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs.

    New Zealand Cricket has released the white ball series schedule against Pakistan.

    The white ball series between Pakistan and New Zealand will occur from March 16 to April 5 2025. The first T20 of the series will be played in Christchurch on March 16, followed by the second in Dunedin on March 18.

    The third T20I will be played in Auckland on March 21, the fourth in Tauranga on March 23 and the fifth T20I in Wellington on March 26.

    The ODI series will be played in Napier, Hamilton and Tauranga on March 29, April 2 and April 5.

    Cricket New Zealand also confirmed they are playing the Champions Trophy in Pakistan in their season schedule.

    Apart from this, New Zealand also confirmed the tri-nation tournament in Multan before the Champions Trophy.

    Tony will arrive in Lahore on Wednesday to take over the new responsibility. The pitch curator has more than 40 years of experience in pitch preparation.

    Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has announced major decisions to improve cricket and team performance.

    According to Geo, Naqvi presided over a three-hour meeting at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), during which various suggestions for improving cricket were reviewed.

    The board also included Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie in the selection committee. Fitness tests have been made mandatory for every player every three months.

    The central contract amount will not be reduced for now; the period of the central contract will be for one year. Performance and fitness will be reviewed every year in different categories of the contract. The inclusion of the players will be as per the prescribed procedure, and the players who meet the fitness and performance criteria will get an opportunity to move forward.

    Chairman PCB said, “There will be no compromise on discipline, and there will be a zero-tolerance policy against players who violate discipline. The team should have unity and agreement; grouping players will not be tolerated, and the management will take strict action.”

    He said, “My recommendation about any player should not be accepted for violation of discipline. We will build high-performance centers in Islamabad and Peshawar.”

    “Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie are fully empowered, have full confidence in them, have given them a free hand, hope both will deliver excellent results and present the final report in this regard.”

    Muhammad Yusuf, Asad Shafiq, Usman Wahla and Nadeem Khan have been responsible for reviewing the domestic contract.
