Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has resigned from the captaincy on Thursday.
IPL 2024 is going to start from today, March 22. Just a day before the start of the tournament, Dhoni fans got the bad news that he has quit the captaincy of the Super Kings.
CSK have announced the new team captain for IPL 2024, Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Dhoni has captained Kings since the first season of IPL starting in 2008. CSK became five times IPL champions under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.
In the FIFA World Cup Qualifier Round 2, Jordan defeated Pakistan by 0-3 goals.
The match between Pakistan and Jordan at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad started at lightning speed. In the second minute, Jordan’s Musa Al-Tmari gave his team the lead.
In the ninth minute, Jordan received a penalty kick due to a foul by a Pakistani defender and Ali Alwan made Jordan’s lead two zero and the first half ended with the same score.
In the second half, the defense of the Pakistan team was relatively better, the strikers also attacked to equalize the goal but did not succeed.
However, in the 86th minute, Jordan’s Musa al-Tmari got a chance and scored his second goal and the team’s third goal, and Jordan won the match by three goals to zero.
In the World Cup Qualifier Round Two, Pakistan played one match each against Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan and Jordan and faced defeat in all of them.
The national team will play an away match against Jordan on March 26.
Former captain of the national women’s cricket team, Javeria Khan, has announced her retirement from international cricket.
“There is a time for everything and this is the time to announce my retirement, however I will remain available for league cricket. I am grateful for the support I have received throughout my career.”
“I would like to thank my family, teammates, Pakistan Cricket Board, my institution for their support and guidance at every step.”
Javeria started her 15-year ODI career on 6 May 2008 against Sri Lanka in the Women’s Asia Cup and T20I career against Ireland in Dublin in 2009, representing the Pakistan Women’s team in 228 international matches and scored 4,903 runs including 2 centuries and 25 fifties. She also took 28 international wickets.
Javeria is currently the second highest run-scorer for Pakistan in ODIs and T20Is. She’s also the only female cricketer from Pakistan to score more than 2,000 runs in each format apart from Bisma Maruf.
The schedule of the West Indies women’s cricket team tour of Pakistan for the series of five T20 and three ODI matches has been announced.
The West Indian women’s cricket team will arrive in Karachi on April 14 to play three one-day internationals and five T20Is.
For the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s Championship 2022-25, three ODIs will be played on April 18, 21 and 23 while a series of five T20 matches will be playd on April 26, 28, 30, May 2 and 3.
Pakistan Women’s team is currently at the third position in the ICC Women’s Championship ranking with 16 points while the West Indies team is at the ninth position with eight points.
In the ICC Women T20 Ranking, Pakistan is eighth while West Indies is sixth.
Pakistani fast bowler Naseem Shah is now among the most expensive players in England’s Cricket ‘The Hundred’ Players Draft.
Birmingham Phoenix acquired Naseem Shah for £125,000, making him the first Pakistani to come in the most expensive category of GBP 125,000. His remuneration in Pakistani currency will be around 4.5 crore rupees.
Pakistan’s Imad Wasim and Shaheen Shah Afridi have also been selected for The Hundred.
Imad Wasim was acquired by Trent Rockets for £100,000 while Welsh Fire have signed Shaheen Shah Afridi for the second season in a row for £100,000.

Pakistan’s former legendary batsman Javed Miandad has revealed that who he thinks is the greatest batsman in cricket history till now.
In a recent interview on YouTube with Ajmal Jami, Miandad was asked by the host, “Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, Sachin Tendulkar, or Sunil Gavaskar, who is the greatest batsman ever in cricket?”
In response, Javed Miandad said, “See, Sunil Gavaskar is class, look at his height and the point is if you have to make a comparison, then you will make a comparison in such a way that who you have faced. Whom you have faced then, and whom am I facing today? If you will judge, you will know that the old player was better, he has performed so much.”
The host asked again, “It means you saying that Sunil Gavaskar was greater than, Babar, Virat, Sachin, Richard?”
Javed replied, ” Yes, of course, he is one of the greatest batsmen ever.”
Former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar is known as one of the greatest opening batsman of all times, with particular talent against fast bowling. He was named Little Master by commentators in the 1970s.
Pakistan’s former all-rounder and PSL star performer Imad Wasim is likely to take retirement back for the T20 World Cup 2024, media reports have said.
In a recent interview, he said ,”I am ready to return to the national team if called by the selectors. I made a name for myself playing for Pakistan and if my country needs me, I will be available, I don’t have a problem with it.”
He said, “Shaheen called me after retiring but I told him that we will talk after PSL.”
Former Australian captain Michael Clarke has commented on the absence of all-rounder Imad Wasim from the Pakistan team.
Michael Clarke, who was part of the PSL commentary panel, said, “I don’t know who is winning. Imad is my most valuable player for the final, if he is not playing for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, it is very wrong.”
Imad quit his international career in November last year.
Indian batting great Virat Kohli has asked fans to stop calling him king, saying it embarrasses him.
He participated in the Royal Challengers Bangalore event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru on 19 March.
“Guys, we have to reach Chennai very soon and a chartered flight is also booked for that, but first you stop calling me this word (King).”
He stressed, “I was telling Faf (Faf du Plessis) that when I am called King and react like that, I feel embarrassed everywhere. Please call me only Virat Kohli from now on. Don’t use that word, it causes me so much embarrassment.”
Kohli appeared in front of fans and media after two months, after taking a break from cricket before the five-match Test series against England in January to be with his wife Anushka Sharma. During this time, a second child was born to the couple.
Pakistani boxer Nisar Ahmad Achakzai from Qila Abdullah district of Balochistan won the ongoing World Muay Thai Championship 2024 International Boxing Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.
Nisar defeated the Indian player Bajar Singh in the final and knocked him out in the first round.
