    In the 26th match of Pakistan Super League 9, Karachi Kings defeats Lahore Qalandars by three wickets in a nail biting match in National Stadium Karachi.

    Karachi Kings captain Shan Masood won the toss and invited Lahore Qalandars to bat first.

    Playing first, Lahore Qalandars scored 177 runs for 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. On behalf of Qalandars, Abdullah Shafiq played an innings of 55 runs and Fakhar Zaman scored 54 runs. Shai Hope 9, Mirza Baig 4 and Shaheen Shah Afridi scored one run, David Wise 24 and Sikandar Raza remained not out with 22 runs.

    On behalf of Karachi Kings, Zahid Mehmood dismissed 2 players, Anwar Ali and Blessing Muzarabani took one wicket each.

    Chasing the targer of 178, Karachi kings opener gave them a good start putting 59 runs on the board for first wicket.

    From Karachi Kings, Tim Seifert scored 36, James Vince scored 42, Shan Masood 24, Irfanullah Niazi 35, and Shoaib Malik scored important 27 runs.

    In the last ball of the 20th over, Karachi Kings needed 3 runs, and Shoaib Malik hits a four on the last ball and led the team to the victory.

    Frim Lahore Qalandars, Tayyab Abbas took two while Shaheen, Zaman and Sikandar Raza took one wicket each.

    While addressing a press conference after the match against Quetta Gladiators yesterday, Rovman Powell said, “Pakistan Super League (PSL) is important for every player, the quality of competition increases with local talent in PSL.”

    Talking about Babar Azam and his captaincy, he said, “He is also human, he can fail sometimes. But Babar Azam is a superstar, Zalmi’s fan following has increased because of him, his strategy as captain is quite brilliant.”

    He further said, “When Babar and Saim were playing, the score up to 230 was in mind. But when the wickets fell, then we kept a target of 200 in mind. The role of each player in the team is clear and he is fulfilling it.”

    Chairman PCB plans to upgrade three important stadiums

    Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has decided to upgrade three important stadiums in the country before next year’s Champions Trophy.

    A meeting headed by Chairman PCB was held yesterday in which Nespak officials gave a briefing on the upgradation of stadiums.

    Mohsin Naqvi called for the final design plan for the upgrade of Gaddafi Stadium in three days, while in the second phase, the design plan for the upgrade of National Cricket Stadium Karachi and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will be prepared.

    The upgradation of the three stadiums will be completed before the Champions Trophy.

    Mohsin Naqvi said, “The facilities for cricket fans in the stadiums will be improved, as per the need, the stadiums will be increased. The facilities in the boxes of Gaddafi Stadium will be improved. Upgradation work will be completed with quality and speed.”

    Pakistan will host the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy next year.

    In 25th match of Pakistan Super League 9, Peshawar Zalmi defeats Quetta Gladiators by a huge margin of 76 runs in Rawalpindi Stadium.

    Quetta Gladiators captain Rilee Rossow won the toss and invited Peshawar Zalmi to bat.

    Peshawar Zalmi scored 196 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, captain Babar Azam scored 53 runs. Apart from this, Saim Ayub scored 30, Mohammad Haris 20, Kohler Cadmore 33, Haseebullah 6 runs, Rovman Powellremained unbeaten by scoring 28 runs.

    Akeel Hosein from Quetta Gladiators scored the first hat-trick of HBL PSL 9, he dismissed four players. Apart from this, Sohail Khan, Muhammad Husnain and Abrar Ahmed took one wicket each.

    Chasing the target of 197, Quetta’s opener took very good start putting 43 runs on the board, but Zalmi’s bowlers turn the table.

    Openers Saud Shakeel scored 24 runs, Jason Roy scored 16, Omair Yousuf scored 10, Laurie Evans 12, Akeel Hosein 14 and Muhammad Amir scored 13 runs. Quetta Gladiators could only 120 runs in 17.5 overs.

    During the 24th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 yesterday, Islamabad Captain Shadab Khan and Karachi Kings Captain Shan Masood got into a heated argument with each other.

    In the 10th over of Islamabad United’s inning, Shadab and Shan were seen in a verbal war for a catch DRS against Agha Salman. Shadab Khan believed that Shan Masood had ran out of time for DRS but still took one against Agha Salman. When Shadab tried to check the time, Shan Masood wanted him to stay out of it.

    In the post match press conference, Shadab said, “Shan bhai got into a little misunderstanding.”

    On behalf of Karachi Kings, Kieron Pollard scored 39 runs and James Vince scored 29, Tim Seifert scored 26 runs and Shan Masood scored 10 runs. Apart from them, Muhammad Nawaz scored 5 runs and Shoaib Malik scored one run, Irfan Khan was dismissed for 16 runs.

    Tymal Mills took three and Faheem Ashraf took two wickets on behalf of Islamabad United, Hunain Shah and Imad Wasim took one wicket each.

    Olympian javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has revealed that he has not had a world class javelin since seven or eight years.

    Talking to Geo news, Arshad Nadeem said “It is very important to have a javelin of international standard. It improves the game and maintains uniformity in training because if you train with local javelin and go abroad with international javelin, it makes a difference in the performance.”

    Arshad then said his world level javelin is damaged.

    “I am training with a local javelin for the Paris Olympics. There is a risk of injury from using local and non-standard javelins, I have undergone surgery on my right knee last month after one on my left knee and right elbow.”

    The beloved athlete states that a world level javelin costs between Rs 700,000 – 800,000. “For international competitions, there should be at least five or six javelins. A local javelin costs 1 to 1.5 lac rupees but they are not of a good quality.”

    Stressing that there is a “world of difference” between his and Indian thrower Neeraj Chopra’s training, Arshad revealed that he does not have a ground available to train continuously.

    “After last night’s surgery, I have also started rehab and will be back in full rhythm in a month. My current target is the Paris Olympics for which we have qualified for the second time. There will be a couple of events to prepare for before that and I am also going to South Africa for training.”
