Haris Rauf has an endearing interaction with fans on ‘Hasna Mana Hai’

The current Pakistani cricket team has entered in to our lives like a breath of fresh air. We love them because they’re extremely talented and hard working, they never embody the dog-eats-dog mindset, support and respect each other without a doubt, and most importantly how much have fangirls are ready to die for them.

Haris Rauf is endearing to many women because of his looks and his prodigious cricketing skills. The bowler was a guest on Friday’s episode of the Geo News show Hasna Mana Hai where a fan had an endearing question for him. She asked him about what will she and other fan girls like actress Maya Ali do now that their crush, Haris, has gotten married and settled down.

To this, Rauf jokingly responded by saying that he had to settle down with someone, since he can’t marry everyone of his fans. He then assured his fans that they can mend their broken hearts by finding someone else, since there are other cricket players out there.

“Not just cricketers, there are many other people out there,” he quipped.

Another fan also had a hilarious question about how when Rauf is playing on the field, he can hear the women behind him shouting out marriage proposals. To which the cricket player said when he is playing cricket, he and his teammates are focused on the game rather than responding to the fans sitting behind them.

“We try to look for them after the match but we never find them,” Rauf joked.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova diagnosed with early-stage throat and breast cancer

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has been diagnosed with throat and breast cancer.

Later this month, the 18-time Grand Slam singles champion, who was previously diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, will begin treatment in New York.

Both malignancies, according to 66-year-old Navratilova, were discovered at an early stage.

“The double whammy is serious, but fixable, and I’m hoping for a favourable outcome,” she said. “It’s going to stink for a while, but I’ll fight with all I have got.”

According to CNN, Navratilova discovered a swollen lymph node in her neck while competing in the WTA Finals in Fort Worth, Texas, in November.

Following a biopsy, stage 1 throat cancer was discovered. A lump in her breast was also found during the testing, and it was later determined to be unrelated to cancer.

“Both of these cancers are in their early stages with great outcomes,” Navratilova’s representative Mary Greenham added.

Navratilova was scheduled to broadcast from the Tennis Channel studio in Melbourne to cover the Australian Open this month, but she will instead make sporadic remote appearances.

The nine-time Wimbledon singles winner admitted that she felt “helpless” following her cancer diagnosis in 2010, but she made the decision to share the news in order to support other women going through comparable medical issues.

Pakistani players pray for speedy recovery of Indian cricketer Pant after serious accident

Pakistani cricketers Shaheen Shah Afridi., Hassan Ali and Shoaib Malik have sent prayers for India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant who has been injured in a serious car accident. The Indian cricketing star has been taken to a hospital in Dehradun, ESPN has reported.

“Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant’s car met with an accident at around 5:30 am,” Director General of Uttarakhand Police, Ashok Kumar, was quoted as saying by NDTV. “The incident took place at Mohammedpur Jat near Roorkee … the car collided with the divider and caught fire. He was moved to the Roorkee hospital from where he has now been shifted to Dehradun.”

“We are still examining him [Pant]. He is stable at the moment, there doesn’t appear to be cause for major worry. Once the evaluation is complete, we will put out a detailed bulletin,” said Dr Dishant Yagnik, medical superintendent at Max Hospital, Dehradun. “He is conscious, he is talking, and the doctors are examining wherever he is saying there is discomfort. Orthopaedics and plastic surgeons are looking at him right now. And we are examining for any internal injuries.”

  • Pakistan-India to play Test series in Australia?

Pakistan-India to play Test series in Australia?

The Melbourne Cricket Club and the Victorian government have expressed interest in hosting a Test series between Pakistan and India at their iconic venue, Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Informal inquiries to Cricket Australia have been made in this regard.

MCC CEO, Stuart Fox, revealed his intention for the series during a conversation on SEN radio on the fourth day of the second Test between Australia and South Africa.
“Absolutely. Three [Tests] in a row would be lovely at the MCG. You’d fill it every time. We have asked,” Fox said.

“We’ve taken that up with Cricket Australia. I know the [Victoria] government has as well. Again, it’s enormously complicated from what I can understand, amongst a really busy schedule. So I think that’s probably the greater challenge. Wouldn’t it be great that it wasn’t just Australia-centric and Victoria-centric, that we’re catering for all the countries and filling the stadium all the time. So we have asked.”

He hoped that Cricket Australia will keep taking it up with the ICC and keep pushing for it. “When you do see some of the stadiums around the world unoccupied, I think it would be much better to have a full house and that atmosphere and celebrate the game with full houses,” he said.

Since 2013, India and Pakistan haven’t faced off in a bilateral international cricket match outside of World Cups and the Asia Cup. Neither team has faced off in a Test match since 2007.

  • PCB appoints Shahid Afridi as chief selector for New Zealand series

PCB appoints Shahid Afridi as chief selector for New Zealand series

Former captain Shahid Afridi will head the new interim selection committee for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the latest change since the team was thrashed by England.

Ramiz Raja was removed as head of the PCB on Thursday, and a 14-member management committee took over.

Before selecting Afridi, the main committee, led by the former chairman Najam Sethi, also sacked chief selector Mohammad Wasim.

According to the PCB, former players Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar were also nominated selectors. The changes follow Pakistan’s first-ever 3-0 home whitewash by England this month.

Announcing Afridi’s appointment, PCB Management Committee chief Najam Sethi tweeted: “I welcome the interim Men’s National Selection Committee and have no doubts that, despite limited time, they will make brave and bold decisions that will help us produce a strong and competitive side in the series against New Zealand.”

“I feel honoured to have been assigned this responsibility,” said Afridi, who retired from international cricket in 2017. “We need to get back to our winning ways and I have no doubts that through meritocratic and strategic selection decisions, we will help the national side to perform.”

In a career marked by his hard-hitting batting, Afridi represented Pakistan in 27 Tests, 398 one-day matches, and 99 Twenty20 matches.

A two-match Test series between Pakistan and New Zealand is underway, with the first game taking place in Karachi on Monday.

  • US Open Cup bans Salt Bae for his annoying FIFA World Cup 2022 antics and breaking rules

US Open Cup bans Salt Bae for his annoying FIFA World Cup 2022 antics and breaking rules

Turkish chef Nusr-et Gokce, better known as ‘Salt Bae’, has been banned from the US Open Cup final after his antics at FIFA World Cup celebrations angered football fans across the globe.

Founded in 1914, US Open Cup is the oldest and most prestigious soccer tournament in America.

The development has been confirmed on the official Twitter handle of the US open cup.

For some reason, he was allowed onto the field with the players in the immediate aftermath of Argentina’s victory over France. He was seen with the trophy, which he even slapped and did his little “salt and pepper” trick on as well.

Lionel Messi was witnessed being approached by the owner of the steakhouse, who seemed irritated when Salt Bae grabbed his arm and dragged him off for a photo. The Turkish chef has received strong criticism as a consequence, especially from former Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster.

“Its current design dates back to 1974,” FIFA’s website reads. “As one of the most recognised sports symbols in the world and a priceless icon, the original FIFA World Cup Trophy can only be touched and held by a very select group of people, which includes former winners of the FIFA World Cup and heads of state.”

An internal investigation is being conducted to find out how the chef was authorized to be so near to the players. It is unclear how Salt Bae was permitted on the field. Additionally, he violated World Cup rules by holding the trophy.

  • Argentina may put Messi’s picture on banknote

Argentina may put Messi’s picture on banknote

The Argentine Central Bank has proposed putting Lionel Messi’s photi on their 1000 peso banknote after the country won the FIFA World Cup. As reported by financial newspaper El Financiero, the proposals have been made by the Central Bank officials of Argentina.

“Capturing Lionel Messi’s face on the thousand-peso bill, since it is important for officials that the figure begins with a ’10’,” wrote El Financiero.

The proposal to place Messi’s face on the bank notes was, according to the publication, made “jokingly” by central bank officials.

“And before you think otherwise, this option was ‘jokingly’ proposed by members of the Argentine Central Bank, although the most enthusiastic directors, such as Lisandro Cleri, a fervent supporter of Boca Juniors, and Eduardo Hecker, a follower of Independiente, agreed on that a bill with this design would awaken the collecting spirit of Argentines,” wrote El Financiero.

The Argentina Central Bank previously created commemorative coins following Argentina’s 1978 World Cup victory. Additionally, commemorative coins were produced in honour of Eva Perón, the former First Lady of Argentina, on her passing.
