Does Imran Khan have ‘family relations’ with Donald Trump since 80s? Fawad Chaudhry certainly thinks so

Former Federal Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has stated that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has “family relations” with newly elected United States President Donald Trump.

Appearing on Samaa’s programme, DO TOK on Friday, Fawad Hussain claimed: “Imran Khan has pictures with Donald Trump’s wife, Ivana Marie Trump, on Google,” which, according to Chaudhry, indicated: “Imran Khan has personal relations with the Trump family.”

The former Broadcasting and Information Minister further stated that Donald Trump does not have a “superficial relationship” with Imran Khan, claiming that both have known each other since 1980.

Due to the party founder’s “cordial relationship” with Donald Trump, Imran Khan was received warmly by the then American President on his arrival in Washington DC back in July 2019, Fawad added.

He further claimed that the Pakistani diaspora had shown massive support to Republican candidate Donald Trump during the US presidential election days.

Earlier, Zulfi Bukhari, a close aide of Imran Khan, while announcing his US visit to meet a “close friend” in the Trump family to discuss the Khan case, had claimed: “Donald Trump’s daughter and son-in-law are friends of mine.”

He had also said that Donald Trump had a “soft corner” for the founder of PTI, noting that the newly elected US President Donald Trump had also shown concern over Imran Khan’s incarceration.

Canada on ‘high alert’ bracing for migrants fleeing US

Canadian authorities said Friday they’re on “high alert” with all eyes on the US border as the country braces for a possible influx of migrants from the United States.

US President-elect Donald Trump has promised the largest mass deportation in American history, accusing immigrants of “poisoning the blood of our country.”

During his first presidential term from 2017 to 2021, tens of thousands of migrants, including Haitians stripped of US protections, fled north to Canada.

“We’re on high alert,” a Royal Canadian Mounted Police spokesman, Sergeant Charles Poirier, told Agence France-Presse.

“All of our eyes are looking at the border to see what’s going to happen… because we know that Trump’s stance on immigration might drive up illegal and irregular migration to Canada,” he said.

In Ottawa, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland met Friday with a group of ministers tasked with handling thorny issues that might emerge between Canada and the incoming Trump administration.

She sought to reassure that Canada was ready for a possible uptick in migrant arrivals.

“We have a plan,” she told a news conference after the meeting without giving details. “Canadians need to know… our borders are safe and secure, and we control them.”

Watching out for a possible influx comes as Canada is slashing its own immigration targets.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government has said it wants to slow population growth while it bolsters key infrastructure and social services.

Quebec Premier Francois Legault this week also expressed concerns about a large number of arrivals overwhelming his province’s already strained ability to house them.

Immediately following Tuesday’s election, online searches in the United States about moving to Canada jumped tenfold.

The legal status of the people making those queries is unclear, but some US citizens opposed to Trump’s return to power have reportedly been querying Canadian immigration and relocation services.

Google Trends pointed to search terms such as “immigrate to Canada,” “Canada immigration process” and “how to move to Canada.”

The government estimates the processing of permanent residency applications can take up to one year, while projected wait times for refugee claims is 44 months.

Entering Canada between border checkpoints is illegal, and dangerous, especially in winter months, the RCMP’s Poirier noted.

“We understand the misery and fear that drives people to try to cross into Canada (through forests or fields or across lakes and rivers), but there are real dangers,” he warned.

“It’s starting to get cold. We’ve seen some tragedies in the past. People were severely frostbitten and had to have amputations. People also suffered severe hypothermia,” Poirier said.

    Some have died.

Rule changes in 2023 have also made it harder for people coming from the United States to succeed in making asylum claims in Canada, and they would likely be returned to the United States.

Poirier said “more boots on the ground” are expected to be deployed along the world’s longest non-militarized border in the coming days, as authorities expect migrants to start hitting the road soon, ahead of Trump’s inauguration in January.

Additionally, cameras, sensors and drones have already been set up along this 8,891 kilometres (5,525 miles) stretch, and information is being shared between Canada and the United States in real-time, he added.

Despite months of planning, Poirier warned that if thousands of migrants come all at once and cross at many border points, “it could become unmanageable.”

Racist online attacks intensify after Trump’s election victory

Racist attacks against American Arabs, Africans, and Latinos following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 US elections have increased online.

A number of African Americans shared the messages they had received in the past three days. In one of the messages, it is seen that the recipient has been told they are being selected to “pick cotton.”

The sender advised them to bring all their belongings, too, as all their “executive slaves” would be present there. Exaggerating the threat further, the recipient of the message is told that they should come prepared “to get searched and patted down once inside of the plantation.”

These messages allude to the dark ages of slavery and have been received by children, college students and working professionals from unrecognized phone numbers in the wake of the presidential election.

CNN reports that authorities are tracking the sender.

However, other reports suggest that Harris’ defeat has made immigrants like Arabs, Asians and Latinxs (a gender-neutral term to refer to men and women of Latin American heritage) easy targets.

These people are being accused of ‘gifting’ Trump the presidency by not voting for Harris. From appeals for mass deportation to wishes that minorities lose their citizenship, racist and Islamophobic comments are everywhere on the internet.

Some of these attacks are directed at Muslims in the context of genocide in Gaza as one commenter said, “I hope they are all deported. And I can’t wait until Netanyahu gets the green light to turn Gaza into a parking lot.”

“Netanyahu bombs and obliterates a school in Gaza. He did this because we just elected Trump, who told him ‘finish it off’ — and this is what he meant. To the Arab voters in Michigan who voted for Trump — this is on YOU,” Cheri Jacobus, a political strategist, pundit and writer, tweeted.

However, many in her replies pointed out that this has been happening for a year with the support of Joe Biden’s administration, of which Kamala was a part.

Some other commentators were outrightly ferocious, “I HOPE HE DEPORTS THEM ALL TO THE GULFS (Arab and Muslim Trump voters) coming from one.”

Exit polls have revealed that more than 50 per cent of Muslims in America actually voted for Green Party’s Jill Stein.

Other figures indicated that Trump gained support in communities of colour — including a 5.5-point shift in majority-Black counties and a 6.8-point increase in Latino-majority counties. Still, a notable share of voters—18.37pc—opted for Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who campaigned on ending US support for Israeli military actions in Gaza. In contrast, Harris maintained a pro-Israel stance and totally alienated Muslim voters.

  • Quetta railway station blast leaves 24 dead

Quetta railway station blast leaves 24 dead

At least 24 people were killed and 46 injured on Saturday morning in a bomb blast at Quetta Railway Station.

Speaking to journalists, Quetta Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Mohammad Baloch said that the explosion seemed to be a “suicide blast,” adding that an investigation is underway to probe the nature of the blast.

“The blast took place inside the railway station when the Peshawar-bound express was about to leave for its destination at 9 am,” Mohammad Baloch stated.

According to the SSP Operations, around 150-200 passengers were present at the Quetta railway station when the blast occurred.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed the casualties and revealed that several people were wounded in the explosion, out of whom ten were in critical situation.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack and ordered an immediate investigation of the powerful explosion, noting that terrorists who target innocent people do not deserve any sympathy.

Meanwhile, the banned and militant outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the explosion.

Earlier, train service had been suspended in the province on August 26, following a blast carried out by the BLA, which destroyed the railway bridge between Kolpur and Mach.

Nine people, including five school-going children, had also been killed, and 29 were injured in a blast near girls schools in Mastung, Balochistan district on November 1.

  • Infamous Katcha dacoit and Youtuber killed by police while PTI followers call him a ‘martyr’

Infamous Katcha dacoit and Youtuber killed by police while PTI followers call him a ‘martyr’

Infamous riverine bandit and social media personality Shahid Lund Baloch was killed in a police encounter in a joint operation by Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur police forces on Friday, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) followers expressed regret over his death.

Baloch, a notorious criminal, had recently established his own social media presence, where he expressed his views on the socio-political affairs in the country while expressing his support for Bushra Bibi and Khan.

In a short clip of Shahid Baloch being shared by PTI followers on social media, the dacoit stated, “You people are warning me that ‘Vigo people’ would abduct me; let me make it clear for you guys, nobody can do anything like that in our territory. They would have to pay for it. All of you PTI supporters, whether you’re in or outside the country, you people are in my heart.”

“You [PTI followers] people have experienced the worst of oppression by the state. Quran tells us that even if you’re fighting kafirs, women and children must never be involved. But our government leaders have targeted your woman and children as well,” remarked the bandit.

Baloch was wanted by police for over 28 major offences, including the killing of police personnel, terrorism, kidnapping for ransom, attacks on police, murder, and armed robbery. Numerous cases against him were registered across various police stations in the Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur districts.

However, Baloch’s social media presence garnered support from some netizens as he shared his perspective on numerous topics, including the human rights situation in Balochistan. When Mahrang Baloch was leading a long march in Islamabad for the rights of missing persons, Shahid recorded a video in which he stated, “We have no connection with them, but our Baloch tradition teaches us to stand for truth. I urge the Baloch people to wake up and fight for their rights. It’s better to die fighting oppression and injustice than sitting in your homes. We ourselves are helpless and trapped in these jungles while thousands of accusations are put on us by the state; otherwise, I would march to Islamabad myself, along with hundreds of followers, to make this movement a success.”

The outlaw was an open supporter of PTI while, in one video, even warned the institutions, saying, “Army and ISI, listen to me. If you try to kill Imran Khan, you will not be spared. God bless Pakistan.”

In another audio clip that went viral on social media, a man, allegedly Shahid Lund Baloch, could be heard asking for the establishment of a children’s school in the riverine area. “I wanted to request that you promise me that a school will be built for the children and that people will be happy to hear the news. If this problem isn’t solved, then it would be a shame for us. At least 35 children are waiting for your help. Apart from that, more children near our area need education,” stated the man in the audio.

One social media user posted on X, “He was definitely a bandit, but he was also a victim of social and economic inequality.”

Another user posted, “Today, for the first time after hearing the news of the death of bandit Shahid Lind Baloch, I visited his YouTube channel 11 hours ago he shared this video. May Allah forgive you. Amen.”

A PTI leader from Kohat, Aman Afridi, posted, “For 30 years, he was a robber and robbed the common people; no one said anything. Now, guess for yourself, it is not a difficult task to eliminate the criminals who commit theft, robbery and murder around us, but we common people are not included in the interest system of the elites, so this system never moves with our theft, robbery or murder. Shahid Lund Baloch could have lived longer if he had shared in the loot instead of challenging this criminalized system. Copy.”

Another PTI follower by the handle username meddy tweets condemned the death of Baloch, writing, “We will write Shahid Lund Baloch as Shaheed. May Allah forgive him.”

One user wrote: “Shahid Lund Baloch Shaheed. They killed him because he was speaking the truth, speaking the truth bluntly to unholy powers. They killed him because people were listening to him. #ShahidLundBaloch Rest in Peace.”

PTI followers also shared another recent clip of the outlaw with PTI flags in the background in which he said, “I pay my respects to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. She has suffered so much with patience. She is a pious woman and any allegations against her character by the government are useless. She has been released from Adiala Jail, and InshaAllah, Imran Khan will be released soon as well.”

In one of the most interesting posts by a netizen, user Azeem Sabzwari had described the historical and cultural significance of local vigilantes or outlaws. In a long thread on September 2, Sabzwari narrated: “This reminds me of Malangi (1890s – 1927), who was a bandit during the British occupation of Punjab. He was known as ‘Robinhood’ in his native district of Kasur. Punjab has a folklore tradition of appreciating bandits who defied the British occupiers & sided with the commoners.”

“Dacoits or bandits emerge out of a political context.  Nizam Lohar and Malangi were both products of the feudalisation of Punjabi society by the British. The same is true of Shahid Lund Baloch who will either be killed or co-opted by those at the helm in Punjab of Pakistan,” predicted this social media user two months ago.

KP govt decides to cut teachers’ salaries involved in protest

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced salary cuts for those involved in the protest as the teachers’ protest enters its fourth day.

KP Financial Advisor Muzammil Aslam told Geo News that teachers’ salaries will be deducted based on their absences from school.

He maintained that while teachers could participate in the protest, they first needed to make sure to attend their classes, warning them that teachers involved in the protest might face pension issues in the future.

On the contrary, Azizullah Khan, president of the All-Primary Teachers Association (APTA), speaking to The News, asserted that teachers want their status to be upgraded.

Addressing the teachers’ demand for upgradation, KP’s financial advisorr said that it’s impossible to upgrade the 175,000 teachers’ status at the same time.

Meanwhile, KP Education Minister Faisal Khan Tarakai said the government had recently accepted the teachers’ demands and is now ready to listen to their concerns again.

He also urged the teachers to end the protest and asserted that closing schools was not the correct approach.

  • Cleared of all allegations; Nazish Jahangir’s lawyer confirms there is no fraud case pending against her

Cleared of all allegations; Nazish Jahangir’s lawyer confirms there is no fraud case pending against her

Actress Nazish Jahangir has been fully cleared of all allegations leveled against her, with her lawyer confirming that no fraud case is pending against her. The lawyer described the accusations as entirely baseless and fabricated.

In a detailed statement, the lawyer revealed that the fraud charges filed by petitioner Azaan Asad Haroon were completely false.

Speaking to the media, the lawyer said, “The case involving Nazish Jahangir has been proven baseless, revealing it to be founded on a false FIR filed by complainant Haroon Aswad. This FIR falsely accused Nazish of fraudulent activities, with allegations intended to damage her reputation for the benefit of the complainant’s fame. The court, in full accordance with the law, dismissed the case after a thorough trial, confirming Nazish innocence and nullifying the FIR.”

The lawyer clarified that Nazish had always possessed the car in question and owed no money to Haroon.

“The case centered around allegations that Nazish had unlawfully acquired a vehicle, despite it being her legitimate property. No financial accusations against her held up, and with the FIR nullified, there is no need for bail. Consequently, the bail has been withdrawn,” the lawyer said.

On the issue of bail, the lawyer emphasized that it was unnecessary because of lack of legal grounds for the case. “Since no valid charges existed, there was no reason for bail. The case simply fell apart in court,” the lawyer states.

“Azaan Asad Haroon, who had both a personal and business relationship with Nazish, allegedly filed the case to harm her reputation for his own benefit,” the lawyer alleged.

Currently, Nazish Jahangir faces no active criminal or civil cases. The defamation cases she has filed against the complainant are ongoing, as she continues litigation against the opposing party,” he confirmed

Earlier, rising actor Azaan Aswad Haroon claimed that actress Nazish Jahangir not only extorted money from him but also took his car while pretending to introduce him to the showbiz industry.

In an interview with Urdu Point, Aswad Haroon said, “A few years ago, I did a telefilm with Nazish Jahangir for the first time, after which we became friends.” He added that at the time she gave him the “illusion” of introduction to the entertainment industry. “She started extorting money from me,” he claimed, adding that, “Nazish Jahangir first demanded Rs 15 lakh from me and later asked for more money while the actress kept asking me for expensive gifts and requesting that I get costly items.” He alleged that later Nazish asked him for a car under false pretenses. “I gave the actress a Honda car worth Rs 25 lakh.”

  • Delhi plans drone flights to combat smog crisis

Delhi plans drone flights to combat smog crisis

India’s capital unveiled plans Friday to fly special drones to clear pollution from its smog-choked skies — a plan derided by experts as another “band-aid” solution to a public health crisis.

New Delhi and the surrounding metropolitan area, home to more than 30 million people, consistently tops world rankings for air pollution in winter.

The smog is blamed for thousands of premature deaths each year and is an annual source of misery for the capital’s residents, with various piecemeal government initiatives failing to measurably address the problem.

Friday marked the start of a trial for an aerial drone tasked with flying around the city’s pollution hotspots to spray water mist in an effort to clear dust and harmful particulate matter from the air.

“We have been examining different technological solutions and best practices from across the world,” Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai said after launching the initiative.

“This one drone is part of a pilot project by a company. We will study, and if it succeeds, we will take this forward.”

Rai said that once the trial was over, the Delhi government would issue a tender to purchase two more drones.

If implemented, the three drones would be responsible for mitigating air pollution across a city that stretches across 1,500 square kilometres (580 square miles) — around the same size as greater London.

A technician at the site, speaking to AFP on condition of anonymity, said the drones carried a maximum 16 litres (4.2 gallons) of water and could only operate for a few minutes at a time before they needed to be refilled.

“But these are not the solution to air pollution,” Sunil Dahiya of advocacy group Envirocatalysts told AFP. “These are band-aid solutions.”

Prior government efforts to mitigate the smog, such as a public campaign encouraging drivers to turn off their engines at traffic lights, have failed to make an impact in the city.

Delhi opened a “smog tower” — a 25-metre (82-foot) tower in the city centre containing fans that were touted as filtering 1,000 cubic metres of air per second — to much fanfare in 2021.

The project was panned by experts when it was launched and is no longer operational.

“Cutting emissions at the sources of the pollution is more important,” Anumita Roychowdhury, executive director of the Centre for Science and Environment in New Delhi, told AFP.

“We have enough studies to show that vehicles, industry, and construction are the areas that need intervention to tackle the issue.”

The level of PM2.5 particles — the smallest and most harmful, which can enter the bloodstream — registered above 300 micrograms per cubic metre in Delhi this week, according to monitoring firm IQAir.

That is 20 times the daily maximum recommended by the World Health Organization.
