    Pakistan announces playing XI for the 3rd Test against England

    Pakistan has announced the playing XI for the Rawalpindi Test against England.

    No change has been made in the Pakistan team. Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique will be open during the third test match as well.

    Captain Shan Masood, Kamran Ghulam and Saud Shakeel are included in the playing XI. Muhammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha and Aamir Jamal are also part of the team.

    Pakistan will play with three spinners, including Noman Ali, Zahid Mahmood and Sajid Khan. England had announced the playing eleven for the Rawalpindi Test yesterday.

    The English team has made two changes for the Rawalpindi Test and decided to play with three specialist spinners.

    First Test match:

    Pakistan had defeated England by 152 runs in the 2nd Test match at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

    In the match being played at the International Stadium in Multan, England started the fourth day’s game with 36 runs for the loss of two wickets, but Sajid Khan showed the way to the pavilion after adding one run to Ollie Pope, while the individual score of 18 But Noman Ali dismissed Joe Root.

    Pakistan scored 366 runs in the first innings, in response to which the England team was bowled out for 291 runs with a deficit of 75 runs. In the second innings, the Pakistani team was bowled out for 221 runs and gave England a target of 297 runs to win.

    In the first innings of the second Test match, the Pakistani team was all out by scoring 366 runs; the national team started its incomplete first innings at 259 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, then the wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan was out by scoring 41 runs for the gain of just five runs. Done. Agha Salman, 31, and Sajid Khan, two runs, proved to be guests.

    School timings have changed in Lahore amid air pollution in the city. City 42 reports that all schools in the city have been notified to open at 8:45 am, and this new timing will apply to both public and private schools.

    The new working hours will be applied from October 28 to January 31, says the official announcement.

    Senior provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb announced the new working hours, stating the change is made due to the high air quality index, and increasing number of respiratory diseases in the provincial capital.

    The minister mentioned that preventive measures have not been adopted yet despite the increase in pollution. 90 per cent of children and teachers are coming to school without masks, while only 10 per cent of children are adhering to masks.

    The Punjab Environment Protection Committee has given instructions to the relevant institutions to take necessary measures in view of the increase in air pollution. Due to the air quality index in Lahore, school timings are being changed in view of the health of children and the elderly.

    Children should be assembled in classrooms, and all outdoor activities should be suspended.

    Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb also said that until January 31, 2025, a strict ban has been imposed on all types of fireworks in Lahore; vehicles that emit smoke, motorbikes, rickshaws, and buses will be banned.

    She stressed that all people should support the government in reducing smog and immediately report any kind of smoke to 1373. The Environment Protection Authority will take immediate action on these complaints.

    The question was: “Which former Prime Minister of Pakistan was shot at in Wazirabad on 3 November 2022?”

    The contestants are asked a question and then given four options, out of which only one can be the correct option.

    In this question, the four options were Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, Yousaf Raza Gillani, and Shaukat Aziz. The contestant chose the second option, which was Imran Khan, and won Rs 3,20,000/- for the correct answer.

    PTI followers are sharing the short footage on social media, and most of them are celebrating the popularity of Imran Khan internationally.

    On November 3 2022, Imran Khan, months after being ousted from the government through a no-confidence motion, was rallying across the country campaigning for the second ‘Azadi March’ against the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government when he was shot at in an attempted assassination in Wazirabad city.

    Khan was at the front of a container-mounted truck along with other PTI leaders and supporters when a gunman fired shots. He was shot in the shin, and thigh of the right leg and was transferred to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore, where he underwent treatment.

    Police arrested the gunman, Muhammad Naveed and uploaded a controversial confession video of the suspect stating that he shot Khan as he was “spreading hatred and misleading the people”, as well as making “blasphemous and anti-religion” remarks.

    Seven people, including former prime minister Imran Khan and other party leaders, were injured, and a party worker was killed in the gun attack.

    A claim regarding Justice Mansoor Ali Shah’s reaction to Justice Yahya Afridi’s appointment as the next chief justice of Pakistan (CJP), has taken the internet by storm.

    Justice Shah, who was next in line to be the CJP on the basis of seniority, was on Tuesday sidelined for the appointment of Justice Yahya Afridi, as a Special Parliamentary Committee, formed under the 26th Amendment, nominated the latter instead.

    The committee, with a two-thirds majority, referred Justice Afridi’s name to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who later forwarded it to President Asif Ali Zardari for a final nod.

    With the Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar announcing the decision of the parliamentary committee last night, senior journalist Meher Bokhari shared on X (formerly Twitter) a claim regarding Justice Shah’s reaction to the news.

    “Just spoke to a close family member of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah. He said, ‘I am fine and going off to sleep and need to go early to SC [sic],” she claimed

    It wasn’t later when social media was flooded with commentary on Justice Shah’s reaction.

    One user trolled Meher Bokhari and said, “It was quite a revelation indeed. I also talked to a family member of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, and he said, ‘I’ll wake up and brush my teeth.”

    “Sanu ki paway lambi taan kay sawy ya choti,” another user posted.

    Optimistically, one X user wrote, “Justice Mansoor Ali Shah’s commitment to his duty speaks volumes. Let’s hope his integrity remains intact amidst all the political pressure.”

    Justice Yahya Afridi was born in Dera Ismail Khan on Jan 23, 1965. Justice Afridi belongs to the Adam Khel clan of the Afridi tribe and is a resident of Kohat’s Babari Banda village. He comes from a family steeped in the tradition of public service, as per Dawn News.

    Justice Afridi attended Aitchison College and Government College, Lahore, for his schooling and undergraduate degree. He later secured an MA degree in Economics from Punjab University.

    After being awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship, Justice Afridi completed his LLM from Jesus College at the University of Cambridge. He was subsequently selected for a scholarship programme for Young Commonwealth Lawyers at the Institute of Legal Studies in London.

    He was enrolled as a high court advocate in 1990 and a Supreme Court lawyer in 2004. He served as an assistant advocate general for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and as federal counsel for the federal government while in practice.

    Justice Afridi was elevated to the Peshawar High Court (PHC) as an additional judge in 2010, and confirmed as a PHC judge on March 15th, 2012.

    He was elevated to the Supreme Court on June 29, 2018.

The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has proposed changes to the Dowry and Bridal Gift Act, suggesting that the penalty for violations be increased from six months to up to one year in prison, as reported by The News on Tuesday. During its 239th meeting on Monday, the CII also recommended raising the maximum dowry limit from Rs5,000 to two tolas of gold and increasing marriage expenses from Rs2,500 to an equivalent amount in gold. Additionally, the CII suggested announcing three divorces in one sitting as a punishable offence.

The Hajj health card securely summarises critical health information, such as medication needs, allergies, and immunisation status, using the WHO Global Digital Health Certification Network. It allows travellers to share their health data with authorised medical providers, facilitating personalised healthcare during the pilgrimage.
