  • Is the viral video of Justice Qazi Faez Isa at Crusteez Donuts old?

Is the viral video of Justice Qazi Faez Isa at Crusteez Donuts old?

As Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa comes close ro retirement on October 25, 2024, a video has begun circulating on social media, showing an employee of Crusteez Donuts filming the top judge without his consent at Blue Area Islamabad.

The person recording can be heard being rude to Qazi Faez Isa.

The video was reportedly shot in August, after the Mubarak Sani case ruling, but it appeared on social media yesterday after the first tweet by journalist Ehtesham Ali Abbasi, a BOL NEWS-associated crime reporter.

He allegedly claimed that the boy who shot the video, along with his family, had been kidnapped after the incident.

He further alleged that on Isa’s order, many branches of this particular bakery were sealed, which is a false claim.

A number of visitors can be seen in a video enjoying donuts at the shop.

However, on September 11, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad sealed a Crusteez Donut branch after larvae was found at the premises.

Journalist Waseem Abbasi clarified, “This branch was never sealed. The owner confirmed it, and the other branch was sealed only because of Dengue larvae.”

Another journalist, Ali Hamza of The News, declared that the video was old.

On X (formerly Twitter), he said, “The video is from last month after Mubarak Sani case judgement.”

Senior journalist Mansoor Ali Khan stated on his YouTube channel that when the incident occurred, some journalists mentioned that a well-known figure had been misbehaved with but did not disclose his name.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhary Fawad Hussain tweeted, “He (video maker) belongs to an extremist group and has a license to humiliate even CJP and evade Law; this is the State we have built in 76 years… sad, very sad.”

He further wrote, “CJP was embarrassed by an extremist while he was with his wife, I have hundreds of reasons to disagree with CJP, but I must condemn such extremism.

The propagation of such disinformation raises serious concerns about extremism in a country where the incumbent Chief Justice of Pakistan is not even safe in public and can be labelled a non-Muslim simply because of his verdict on minority rights.

Meanwhile, Crusteez Donut clarified that the employee’s actions do not reflect company values.

48 cocaine capsules found in African man’s stomach at Multan airport

An Angolan national was arrested at Multan Airport in an attempt to quash cocaine smuggling. The foreigner had arrived from Muscat. He allegedly swallowed dozens of cocaine capsules and was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).

Express News reported that the alleged smuggler was carrying 48 capsules filled with cocaine in his stomach.

The total weight of the recovered capsules was 624 grams, said the ANF spokesperson.

The arrest was made as part of an operation against drug smuggling.

The spokesperson stated that foreign nationals, particularly from African countries, have been involved in drug smuggling activities in Pakistan. Most of the foreigners arrested in connection with smuggling cases this year have been from African nations.

The arrested foreign national has been charged under the Anti-Narcotics Act, and an investigation is going on to uncover more details about the smuggling operations.

This is not the first time ANF has arrested a foreign national. A Nigerian man was found with 38 cocaine-filled capsules hidden in his stomach last month, at Lahore airport.

Express Tribune reports that this year, authorities have already conducted seven operations, arresting eight Nigerian individuals, and recovered 11,420 kilograms of drugs.

  • ‘Please don’t eat my cat’: Trump parody song goes viral

‘Please don’t eat my cat’: Trump parody song goes viral

A pet-loving part-time musician is fast becoming a global star by gently poking fun at Donald Trump for suggesting that Haitian immigrants are making a meal of America’s cats and dogs.

“Eating the cats”, a parody song by The Kiffness which sets to music Trump’s extraordinary claims during the US presidential debate that migrants in Ohio “are eating the dogs, eating the cats”, has been viewed more than 8.7 million times on YouTube alone in 12 days.

“People of Springfield please don’t eat my cat,” pleads the South African singer, whose real name is David Scott. “Why would you do that?/ Eat something else.”

He then helpfully holds up a card suggesting a range of other mostly veggie options, including broccoli, avocados and poached eggs.

The singer, who has been slowly building a following for his feel-good songs about pets and children — because “they tend to unite people” — has seen his popularity soar since he got his singing claws into Trump.

Although he insists he is not attacking anybody, just giving some cat- and dog-friendly dietary advice.

“I think music has a powerful way of taking away negative energy and polarising feelings, especially with someone like Donald Trump, who is such a polarising figure,” he told AFP before his band gave a concert in Paris.

“I want my music to unite people. And I think that’s why I moved towards music that included animals. Because animals unite people,” said the 36-year-old from Cape Town.

The video, which has been watched by millions more on social media, shows Trump’s rival Kamala Harris reacting to his widely-derided claims during their debate earlier this month. A couple of cats and dogs also chip in with vocals, and equally incredulous looks.

Scott said all the earnings from the song are going to help pets and stray cats and dogs in Springfield, with more than $20,000 already raised.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” he told AFP. “The interest has been overwhelming from both sides, from Democrats, from Republicans.”

He said the song was not “laughing at the situation, it’s saying that you can rise above it… and just see the humour in things,” said the musician, who describes himself on X as a “Christian, husband, father (and) part-time musician”.

Springfield’s mayor, police and Ohio’s Republican governor have all said there is no evidence to back up Trump’s claims that Haitian migrants were eating the city’s pets.

But that has not stopped his running mate JD Vance — an Ohio senator — from doubling down on the claims, despite being widely mocked.

“My constituents are telling me firsthand that they’re seeing these things,” an unapologetic Vance told CNN.

This prompted Haitian groups in Springfield to file charges against Trump and Vance Wednesday over the threats to their community since the pair amplified the false online rumours.
