Hania Aamir reacts strongly to her fake AI videos going viral

Actress Hania Aamir spoke against her fake AI-generated videos circulating on the internet earlier this week.

She expressed concern over the misuse of artificial intelligence on her Instagram and questioned the absence of laws regarding it.

She shared a screenshot of the news from a private news website on her Instagram story.

According to the news shared by the actress, videos went viral on social media, and the girl’s face resembled that of Hania Aamir.

Hania Aamir clarified that these videos are not hers but were created using Artificial Intelligence (AI), making them appear convincing. She also questioned whether there are any laws to address this issue.

After the videos of a girl resembling Hania Aamir went viral, some social media pages supported the actress and confirmed that the videos were AI-generated.

Some social media users claimed that the girl in the videos is an Indian influencer who resembles Hania Aamir and frequently posts from various accounts.

She shared a screenshot of the Instagram account in question, which is run by Anureet Sandhu, a user with over 22,000 followers and more than 100 posts, many of which were AI-generated videos with her face.

The actress asked her followers to report the account, saying, “She has blocked me, but can you all report this account?”

Shortly after her post, the account’s name was changed to “Core Sandhu,” seemingly to avoid being caught. Later, the user renamed it “Sandhu Core.”

The videos have now been removed, and many of her fans reported the profile.

Further investigation revealed the account was created in India, and its location was listed as Chandigarh.

According to a screenshot shared by Hania, the account’s name has changed 18 times since it was created in September 2022.

This incident has sparked new discussions about the ethical issues of AI technology and the need for stronger laws to prevent its misuse.

Austerity? Sindh govt approves purchase of 138 double-cabin vehicles for Assistant Commissioners

The Sindh government on Wednesday approved the procurement of 138 luxurious double-cabin vehicles for its Assistant Commissioners as the country struggles to secure another IMF loan.

The federal and provincial governments have made bold claims about reducing bloated government expenditures amid the so-called austerity drive.

Around two billion rupees will be spent on the procurement of the vehicles, as Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved the summary before leaving for the United States on a week-long visit.

Chief Minister House Spokesperson Rasheed Channa told Dawn that the government purchased the vehicles after 12 years, as the last procurement was made in 2012.

“It is a necessary expenditure as vehicles are needed for official duties in the province, especially in rural areas,” the spokesperson explained.

Provincial president of PTI, Haleem Adil Sheikh, strongly condemned the move, saying that hundreds of families are on the streets due to floods, but the Sindh government is taking “royal decisions.”

‘Russian spy’ whale was shot dead: animal rights groups

Animal rights groups on Wednesday said gunfire killed a beluga whale that rose to fame in Norway after its unusual harness sparked suspicions the creature was trained by Russia as a spy.

The organisations NOAH and One Whale said they had filed a complaint with Norwegian police, asking them to open a “criminal investigation”.

Nicknamed “Hvaldimir” in a pun on the Norwegian word for whale, hval, and its purported ties to Moscow, the white beluga first appeared off the coast in Norway’s far-northern Finnmark region in 2019.

He was found dead on Saturday in a bay on Norway’s southwestern coast. His body was transported on Monday to a local branch of the Norwegian Veterinary Institute for autopsy.

His body was transported on Monday to a local branch of the Norwegian Veterinary Institute for autopsy.

The report is expected “within three weeks”, a spokeswoman for the institute said. “He had multiple bullet wounds around his body,” the head of One Whale, Regina Crosby Haug who said she viewed Hvaldimir’s body on Monday, told AFP.

One Whale was founded to track the beluga, which had become a celebrity in Norway. “The injuries on the whale are alarming and of a nature that cannot rule out a criminal act—it is shocking,” NOAH director Siri Martinsen said in a statement. “Given the suspicion of a criminal act, it is crucial that the police are involved quickly,” she said.

A third organisation which also tracked the whale’s movements, Marine Mind, said it found Hvaldimir’s dead body floating in the water on Saturday around 2:30 p.m. local time. “There was nothing to immediately reveal the cause of death,” director Sebastian Strand told AFP. “We saw markings but it’s too early to say what they were.”

He said marine birds probably caused some of the markings but said there was no explanation for others at this stage. With an estimated age of 15 to 20, Hvaldimir was relatively young for a beluga whale, which can live to between 40 and 60 years of age. When he was found in 2019, Norwegian marine biologists removed a man-made harness with a mount suited for an action camera and the words “Equipment St. Petersburg” printed in English on the plastic clasps.

Norwegian officials said Hvaldimir may have escaped an enclosure and may have been trained by the Russian navy as he appeared to be accustomed to humans. Moscow has never issued any official reaction to speculation that he could be a “Russian spy”.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Advisor on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah said that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif wants unconditional dialogue with all parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had denied reports of receiving direction from former PM Nawaz Sharif to initiate talks with all parties, along with PTI.

According to Associated Press Pakistan (APP), Sanaullah stated on a local news channel, “We have also maintained the same stance before the PTI lawmakers in the National Assembly.”

Emphasizing that Shehbaz shook hands with everyone two weeks ago, offering unconditional talks, Sanaullah advised the PTI to reverse its “stubborn attitude” to make talks productive.

Responding to Chief Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s negotiation offer, Sanaullah said that PML-N believes in democracy and negotiation to curb political issues.

  • False claims link bailed Mahal Baloch to BLA suicide attacker

False claims link bailed Mahal Baloch to BLA suicide attacker

A series of violent attacks took place on August 26 in Balochistan, including a suicide attack by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in Lasbela.

The BLA identified one of the bombers as Mahal Baloch in the attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) camp.

On social media, people linked her to a recently bailed woman named Mahal Baloch, who was alleged to have possessed a suicide jacket.

Geo Fact Check has reported that these claims are false.

The confusion stems from two Baloch women having the same names.

Imran Baloch, the lawyer for the bailed Mahal Baloch, told Geo Fact Check that his client is from Turbat and is alive, while the suicide attacker was from Gwadar, a coastal area of Balochistan.

Baloch, a 30-year-old widow with two children, was charged with carrying a suicide jacket, which she vehemently denied, according to Imran.

On May 10, 2023, she was granted bail by the two-judge bench of the Balochistan High Court.

Moreover, the lawyer has revealed pictures of the two women, proving that they have no resemblance and are, thus two different people.

On August 26, the Majeed Brigade, a faction of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), carried out multiple attacks, resulting in seventy-three casualties.
