‘Best chapter’: Vick-Kat announce first pregnancy

Bollywood actors Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif have officially announced that they are expecting their first child, ending months of speculation and fan anticipation.

The couple took to Instagram to share the happy news, posting a photo in which Vicky is seen gently holding Katrina’s baby bump. The caption read: “On our way to start the best chapter of our lives with hearts full of joy and gratitude.”

The announcement has been met with widespread congratulations from fans and celebrities alike. Although the couple has not disclosed many details, several media reports suggest that Katrina is currently in her third trimester, with the baby expected to arrive in October 2025.

Vicky and Katrina, often referred to by fans as “VickKat,” got married on December 9, 2021, in a highly private ceremony at the Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan. Their relationship was largely kept away from the public eye until the wedding, which was attended by close friends and family members under strict confidentiality.

The couple reportedly met for the first time around 2018–2019 at a party hosted by filmmaker Zoya Akhtar. However, it was their playful on-stage interaction during an award show that first sparked public interest.

Vicky Kaushal later revealed on Koffee With Karan that he proposed to Katrina just a day before the wedding. The proposal happened during a quiet dinner at their resort in Rajasthan, adding a personal and spontaneous touch to their love story. “It was last-minute,” he admitted, explaining that both had been occupied with wedding preparations.

Rumors about Katrina’s pregnancy have been circulating for months, fueled by her absence from public events and noticeable wardrobe changes. Speculation reached a peak in mid-2025, when paparazzi photos appeared to show the actress with a visible baby bump during a brand shoot in London.

According to sources cited by several entertainment portals, the couple has been spending more time away from the spotlight in recent months. Vicky has reportedly scaled back work commitments, and Katrina has not signed any major film projects since wrapping up her last shoot earlier this year.

The couple have not yet revealed the baby’s gender.

French Muslims on alert as pig heads found at nine mosques

A pig’s head, covered in blood, scrawled in blue ink with the name “Macron”, was discovered at the doorstep of the Javel mosque in the heart of Paris on September 09, leaving Muslims shaken and on alert.

The mosque, a couple of kilometres away from the Eiffel Tower, serves a diverse community of Muslims with Lebanese, Algerian, Iranian backgrounds, coming to pray.

“It’s the first time something like this has ever happened to us…They [worshipphers] were in a state of shock,” the mosque’s rector Najat Benali told a news outlet.

Javel mosque was not the only one to have been targeted, as severed pig heads have been found on the doorsteps of mosques across Paris and its suburbs, in what French authorities are investigating as an act of foreign interference.

Recently, at a news conference, Paris’s Police prefect Laurent Nunez said, “One cannot help but draw parallels with previous actions which have been proven to be acts of foreign interference.”

Two individuals driving a car with Serbian licence plates approached a farmer in the northern region of Normandy to buy “about 10” pig’s heads on the evening of September 8, Paris prosecutor’s office has said.

Later, CCTV footage shows them arriving in Paris’s Oberkampf neighbourhood. The vehicle then crossed the French border with Belgium after depositing the pigs’ heads in front of the nine mosques.

“The pig heads left in front of mosques in the Paris region were placed there by foreign nationals who immediately left the country, with the clear intention of causing unrest within the nation,” the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

Paris prosecutor Laure Beccauau stated that the aim is to “unsettle our fellow citizens”, ultimately raising questions about the country they live in, about their safety, and then, creating divisions between communities.

Since late 2023, prosecutors have identified nine acts of foreign interference across the French capital, often, but not always, with the intent of inciting religious hatred.

  • Pakistanis bash Irfan Pathan for ‘trying to lecture’ Haris Rauf, Sahibzada Farhan

Pakistanis bash Irfan Pathan for ‘trying to lecture’ Haris Rauf, Sahibzada Farhan

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has sparked a wave of reactions in Pakistan after his harsh remarks against Sahibzada Farhan and Haris Rauf following the high-voltage Super Fours clash between Pakistan and India at the Asia Cup.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Pathan accused the Pakistani players of “crossing the line” with their celebrations. “What happened yesterday, the gestures that were made in celebration by Farhan. You know what is going on between the two countries and you are [still] celebrating on the field [like this].”

“I used to think Haris Rauf is a better guy but his actions yesterday on the field were not necessary,” he said in reference to the Pakistani pacer gesturing “6-0” and “Rafales crashing” at jeering Indian fans, also criticising Farhan’s gunshot-style celebration.

“You are playing cricket on the field, whether you win or you lose, it happens but when you go on a personal level, that is taking it too far. This is not right,” he said, conveniently ignoring the political statements made by Indian players during last week’s Sept 14 clash between the two countries.

The comments, however, did not sit well with many in Pakistan as fans defended the players and pointed out India’s own lack of sportsmanship in recent encounters. “First Indian players refused a handshake in the first match, now Pathan is lecturing us on sportsmanship? That’s hypocrisy,” wrote one.

They also defended Haris Rauf as one remarked that Indian fans kept chanting “Kohli, Kohli” to provoke him. “But 6-0 is permanent ,” wrote a netizen.

Someone else commented that Pakistan’s message was clear, “If you bring politics into the game, the reply will also be political. Got it?”

Another fan pointed out how everything started with Indian players refusing handshakes in the first match, writing, “No handshake means war for our blood.”

Another mocked Pathan by saying, “Irfan Pathan khud ko Indian sabit karty howy.” One user said ex-players like Pathan don’t care at all and only use situations to their advantage. Another dismissed his rant with, “Feel KR tu BS .”

The Pakistan-India rivalry has only grown more intense after recent military clashes in May. On the cricket field, tempers flared in the second match as players from both sides exchanged heated words.

India may have won Sunday’s contest by chasing down Pakistan’s 172-run target with ease, but for many Pakistani fans, the fight shown by Farhan and Rauf reflected the spirit of the team.

  • Who hired Mahira for her first VJ job?

Who hired Mahira for her first VJ job?

Writer, director and host Wajahat Rauf has revealed that he was the one who first hired star actor Mahira Khan as a VJ.

“It was I who first gave superstar Mahira Khan her initial job as a VJ on Aag TV,” he said while appearing on a podcast with his wife and co-producer Shazia Wajahat.

On how he hired Mahira, Wajahat revealed, “Many years ago, I was attending a launch event where I first noticed Mahira. I saw her dancing and enjoying the event wholeheartedly. She stood out because of how clearly she was enjoying herself.”

“After that, I decided to hire her as a VJ on my channel. Once she was hired, we had an agreement that she would report directly to me. She worked at the channel for 3 to 4 years, and since then, I have shared a very close bond with Mahira.”

When asked about working with Mahira, Wajahat and his wife said, “In the past, we’ve intended to work with Mahira several times, but due to scheduling conflicts or remuneration issues, it never happened. However, we do plan to work with both Mahira and Fawad Khan in the future.”

During the same conversation, host Mubashir Hashmi asked about Hania Aamir, to which director Wajahat Rauf clarified the common misconception that he introduced Hania Aamir. “In fact, Hania had already been working in the industry for the past 4 to 5 years before we worked together.”

It is worth mentioning that Mahira Khan began her showbiz career in 2006 as a VJ. However, her breakthrough came with the drama Humsafar, which brought her massive success.

She later made her film debut with Shoaib Mansoor’s movie Bol, which then took her to new heights of fame. Mahira has since appeared in various films and dramas. Bin Roye, Shehr-e-Zaat, Sadqay Tumhare and Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay are among most watched.

Notably, she has also worked in Bollywood opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the film Raees.

Afghan teen hides in aircraft landing gear, reaches Delhi, gets deported

A 13-year-old boy from Afghanistan sneaked into the landing gear compartment of a KAM Air flight and reached Delhi on Sunday. He, however, was deported the same day on the return flight to Kabul.

According to media reports, the teenager from Kunduz admitted that his “curiosity” led him to attempt the risky journey. He managed to hide inside the rear central landing gear compartment of flight RQ-4401, which landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport after a two-hour journey at 36,000 feet.

The incident came to light around 11 am when airline staff spotted the boy near the aircraft after it landed. He was handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force and taken to Terminal 3 for questioning.

During interrogation, the boy explained how he entered Kabul airport and tucked himself into the landing gear. He reiterated that he “did it out of curiosity”.

Security personnel of KAM Air later checked the aircraft thoroughly and recovered a small red speaker belonging to the boy. The aircraft was declared safe after detailed inspection and anti-sabotage checks.

The return flight took the boy back to Kabul at around 12:30 pm.

Court grants bail to tribal elder in Degari honour killing case

The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday granted bail to tribal elder Sardar Sherbaz Khan Satakzai, who was arrested in July this year in the Degari honour killing case in which a couple was shot dead in the name of ‘honour’.

After hearing arguments from both sides, a single-judge bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kasi, granted bail to Satakzai against surety bonds of Rs500,000. He was released following the court’s approval of the bail application.

Sardar Satakzai had been arrested on the allegation that, as a tribal chief, he had endorsed through a jirga the killing of the woman and the man.

Acting on the jirga’s order, the woman’s brother reportedly opened fire on his 40-year-old sister Bano Bibi in the presence of a large number of people from the area. At the same time, the man Ehsanullah was also killed at the same place.

The incident came to light after a video of the shooting went viral on social media over a month after the killings occurred. According to police surgeon Dr Ayesha, the woman was shot seven times and the man nine times.

Police subsequently launched an investigation and took several people into custody, including Sardar Sherbaz Khan Satakzai.

So far, police have arrested 17 people in connection with the case, including Bano Bibi’s mother and another brother. The mother was later released on bail. However, the main accused, who shot and killed his own sister, has yet to be arrested.

  • Sahibzada Farhan confident Pakistan will face India again in Asia Cup final

Sahibzada Farhan confident Pakistan will face India again in Asia Cup final

Despite Pakistan’s six-wicket loss to India in the Asia Cup Super Four clash on Sunday, Pakistani opener Sahibzada Farhan said the team is confident of meeting India again in the final next Sunday.

During Monday’s pre-match press conference, Farhan said, “We are fully confident that we will beat Sri Lanka and face India again in the final.”

Speaking about his unique celebration after reaching his half-century, Farhan explained, “I usually don’t celebrate after scoring 50. This was done all of a sudden. I don’t care what people think about it.”

He credited his batting partner Fakhar Zaman for boosting his confidence. “Having Fakhar Zaman at the other end gave me the belief to play my shots freely.”

The rivalry between Pakistan and India has become more intense after recent military clashes in May. In the first encounter, Indian players avoided the traditional handshake, turning sportsmanship on its head.

During the second match, players from both sides engaged in heated arguments. Indian fans were particularly offended by Haris Rauf’s gesture referencing Indian Rafales shot down by the Pakistan Air Force, which he made in response to Indian fans chanting “Kohli, Kohli” from the boundary line.

India on Sunday, comfortably chased down Pakistan’s target of 172 runs, winning the high-voltage contest with ease. Pakistan had started strongly, reaching 93 for 1 in 9.3 overs. Farhan played a brilliant knock of 58 runs off 45 balls to help his team post 171.

India are strong contenders for the final. Pakistan, meanwhile, can qualify by beating Sri Lanka and India in their remaining Super Four matches.

The Asia Cup final will take place on September 28 in Dubai, featuring the top two teams from the Super Four stage.

  • Yasir Hussain takes a dig at Haris Rauf over viral hand gesture during India clash

Yasir Hussain takes a dig at Haris Rauf over viral hand gesture during India clash

The high-voltage cricket match between arch-rivals Pakistan and India has now spiraled into a storm of controversy, not over cricketing performance, but a fiery gesture that has the subcontinent buzzing.

Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf found himself in the eye of a media hurricane after responding to jeering Indian fans during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours clash with a set of hand gestures that quickly went viral.

In a moment that has split the internet and ignited debate on both sides of the border, Rauf first flashed “6-0” with his fingers — a reference to the number of Indian planes downed by the Pakistan Air Force in May’s military clashes. He then followed it up with a theatrical gesture mimicking a fighter jet soaring and crashing.

The act drew roaring cheers from many Pakistani fans on social media, with even Defence Minister Khawaja Asif chiming in on X to applaud the cricketer.

But not everyone was impressed, least of all actor-director Yasir Hussain, who took to Instagram with a fiery rebuke.

Taking to Instagram stories, he wrote, “Brother, that’s the Pakistan Air Force’s credit, let them have it.” “Your job is to play cricket — which, frankly, you’re not doing well.”

In a previous post, he urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to suspend matches for a year and instead focus entirely on retraining and rebuilding the national squad, a statement that stirred the pot even further.

Meanwhile, Indian media has erupted in fury, slamming Rauf’s behavior as “unsportsmanlike” and “provocative”. Some even called for a total boycott of cricketing ties with Pakistan.

On Sunday, Pakistan scored 171 runs while batting first. India began their chase with an aggressive start but stumbled midway, losing four wickets in quick succession. However, steady middle-order batting guided India to a six-wicket win, securing the victory with seven balls to spare.

  • Sidra Niazi shines in hilarious horror comedy Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi

Sidra Niazi shines in hilarious horror comedy Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi

In a refreshing departure from traditional melodramas, Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi brings a delightful blend of horror and comedy to Pakistani television, and at the heart of this whimsical tale is a powerhouse performance by Sidra Niazi.

Known for her emotive portrayals of sensitive, often vulnerable characters, Niazi now proves her versatility by stepping into a role filled with comic timing, suspense, and unexpected depth.

Directed by the acclaimed Saife Hasan and penned by the celebrated writer Syed Nabeel, the drama is anything but ordinary. It tells the bizarre yet wildly entertaining story of Zara (played by Sidra Niazi) and her husband Asad (Arsalan Naseer), who move into a haunted mansion after the sudden passing of Asad’s father. In his will, Asad’s father stipulates that the couple must live in the eerie haveli — valued at a staggering 800 million rupees, if they wish to claim their inheritance, they will have to live there for six months. Tempted by greed, Zara convinces her husband to take the plunge into the unknown.

The narrative kicks off with the couple arriving at the house under the pretence of visiting Asad’s unconscious father. But the twist of fate soon reveals their new reality — an ominous mansion, inhabited by vengeful jinns with a mission to drive them away.

From the very first scene, Sidra Niazi seizes the spotlight. Her expressive face, comedic timing, and ability to switch between fear, frustration, and sarcasm give life to Zara in a way that is both engaging and hilarious. One standout moment comes when a clock’s hands begin to move on their own. As Zara panics, her reactions are nothing short of brilliant, a perfect balance of slapstick humor and genuine fright that leaves viewers in stitches.

In another now-viral scene, Zara is seen crying while cutting onions in the kitchen, only to turn around and discover that the chopped onions have miraculously returned to their original state. A jinn, disguised as her husband, questions her about the situation. Confused and exasperated, she insists, “I even cried because of those onions! How could they be whole again?” The scene, though absurd, is carried with such natural flair by Niazi that it feels oddly believable — a testament to her growing mastery as an actress.

While the drama officially stars Wahaj Ali and Sehar Khan in leading roles, it is Sidra Niazi who is winning hearts and headlines. Her performance has been widely praised by fans and critics alike, with many applauding her for breaking out of the “crying daughter-in-law” stereotype that so often plagues women in Pakistani serials.

The mansion itself becomes a character. A dark, sprawling, and cinematically haunting, it adds layers of suspense that contrast wonderfully with the script’s sharp humor. The jinns, determined to scare the couple out of the house, devise increasingly ridiculous and spooky tricks, giving the drama its signature eerie-comedy flavor. As viewers, we find ourselves equally amused and unnerved — a rare feat for a Pakistani television drama.

The ensemble cast also includes stellar names like Romaisa Khan, Laiba Butt, Syed Jibran, Irfan Motiwala, and Tamkenat Mansoor, each contributing to the drama’s offbeat yet captivating atmosphere.

For audiences weary of recycled saas-bahu clichés, Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi offers a breath of fresh air. The dialogues are witty, the cinematography is visually stunning, and the direction keeps the pace crisp without sacrificing the story’s heart.

Sidra Niazi has steadily built a name for herself in the Pakistani drama industry. Before this genre-defying role, she was lauded for her performances in dramas like Qayamat, Zakham, and Badzaat, where she played more emotionally intense characters. However, Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi has firmly cemented her as a multi-faceted performer capable of leading both dramatic and comedic narratives with finesse.

In this fantastical new drama, Niazi will definitely going to get the best actress in a comic role, viewers’ choice award.
