    What did Angelina Jolie do in Pakistan?

    United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Special Envoy and Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday, September 20, to support communities affected by devastating floods.

    Jolie has arrived to witness and gain an understanding of the situation and to hear from people about their needs and steps to prevent such suffering in the future.

    Jolie will highlight the need for urgent support for the Pakistani people and long-term solutions to address the multiplying crises of climate change, human displacement and protracted insecurity we are witnessing globally.

    She will see first-hand how countries like Pakistan are paying the greatest cost for a crisis they did not cause.

    “The IRC hopes her visit will shed light on this issue and prompt the international community — particularly states contributing the most to carbon emissions — to act and provide urgent support to countries bearing the brunt of the climate crisis,” it said.

    IRC’s latest needs assessment shows people are in urgent need of food, drinking water, shelter, and healthcare. Every person the organisation surveyed reported women and girls have no access to menstrual hygiene products.

    Jolie, who previously visited victims of the 2010 floods and 2005 earthquake in Pakistan when she was the UNHCR’s goodwill ambassador, is scheduled to visit the IRC’s emergency response operations and local organisations assisting displaced people, including Afghan refugees.

    The Government of Pakistan stated that it finds Jolie’s gesture heart warming.

    Adnan Syed released, conviction tossed after 22 years

    A Baltimore judge on Monday ordered the release of Adnan Syed after overturning his conviction for the 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee.

    Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn ordered that Syed’s conviction be vacated as she approved the release of the now-41-year-old who has spent more than two decades behind bars.

    The case gained national attention when the popular podcast “Serial” raised doubts about his guilt.

    The podcast said that Syed should be released from prison, where he has spent two decades, while prosecutors complete the investigation and decide whether to seek a new trial.

    “All right Mr. Syed, you’re free to join your family,” Phinn said as the hearing ended.

    Minutes later, Syed emerged from the courthouse and flashed a smile as he was shepherded to a waiting SUV through a sea of cameras and a cheering crowd of supporters.

    Syed did not speak during the hearing, nor did he address reporters outside the courtroom afterward. But after the hearing, his lawyer Erica Suter described his reaction to the decision, saying: “He said he couldn’t believe it’s real.”

    Gang-rape victim commits suicide after police does not register case

    A woman who was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped on Thursday in Mehran Soomro village in Tharparkar has committed suicide.

    The woman was left at an isolated place near her village after the sexual assault. She remained unconscious for many hours before her relatives found her and took her to a hospital.

    After regaining consciousness, she gave a statement to the police, narrating the incident. She said she was kidnapped on her way to Hyderabad to get documents for her father’s pension.

    After her suicide, her brother registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the suspects, stating that the family was forced to take the matter to a jirga and not go to the police.

    He also said that area police were reluctant to register the case under the influence of certain local figures. Already traumatised by the rape, his sister could not bear her helplessness and took the extreme action of killing herself, he added.

    Later, on Monday, two nominated suspects were booked by the police. Station House Officer (SHO) Ali Hassan Chang of the Kaloi police station said that an investigation into the matter has been started.

    Apple to fix iPhone 14 Pro camera issues next week

    Apple says a software update for the iPhone 14 Pro will fix the camera wobble issue that occurs while using some third-party apps, like Snapchat and TikTok.

    “We’re aware of the issue and a fix will be released next week,” an Apple spokesperson told CNET in an email. 

    The optical image stabilisation hardware is malfunctioning, which also results in rattling noises.

    Since the September 16 debut of the iPhone 14 models, Apple had to release several updates. Last week, Apple released iOS 16.0.1 to fix a few bugs with the new iPhones, including activation issues and soft-looking photographs when zooming in on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

    For the impending software upgrade, Apple has not given a version number, although it is most likely iOS 16.0.2. An Apple representative earlier today confirmed that the update will resolve a problem that makes some iPhone 14 Pro models’ rear cameras jiggle and tremble.

    With the release of iOS 16, a new privacy feature was added that prevents apps from accessing the iPhone’s clipboard without the user’s consent in order to paste text from other apps. However, some users have reported that the question appears excessively. This issue is also expected to be fixed in the upcoming iOS update.

    ‘World renowned Mufti Menk visits Pakistan for flood victims

    Leading Islamic scholar, Mufti Dr Ismail Menk, is visiting Pakistan to help flood victims after the natural catastrophe wrecked havoc across the country, turning one-third of the country into inland seas.

    The famous cleric, who is loved across the world by millions of Muslims, visited flood affected areas of Sindh.
    After his visits he noted that the situation is “unimaginable” and urged people to give as much charity and aid as they could to ease people’s suffering.


    “Please do whatever you can with any reliable charity or partner for those affected. We will have to assist for the next few YEARS,” he said in a video posted on his Instagram.

    Devastating floods in Pakistan have wreaked havoc across the country, leaving a path of destruction and loss in their wake. More than 1,599 people have lost their lives, one-third of whom are children.


    Record monsoon rains and melting glaciers triggered the disaster. The United Nations (UN) and Pakistan have linked the extreme weather to climate change; some 600,000 people have fled their homes.

    As many as 33 million people of the 220 million South Asian nation have been affected in some way by the floods that swept away houses, roads, railways and bridges and submerged around 4 million acres of farmland.

    ‘Here to tell Pakistan’s story to world’: PM Shehbaz arrives in New York

    After attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in London on Monday, Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif arrived in the United States (US) on Tuesday ahead of his address to the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) which is to be held on September 23 in New York.

    Talking about his trip, the premier said that he is in America to “tell Pakistan’s story to the world, a story of deep anguish and pain arising out of a massive human tragedy caused by floods”.

    “In my address at UNGA and at bilateral meetings, I will present Pakistan’s case on issues that call for the world’s immediate attention,” he said.

    PM Shehbaz is also scheduled to meet French President Emmanuel Macron and will attend the reception of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres today.

    On Wednesday, the prime minister will meet International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and World Bank (WB) President David Mills.

    Other engagements of the premier include meetings with Malaysian PM Ismail Sabri Yaakob, UNGA President Csaba Korosi, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, the UN Secretary-General as well as Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai.

    During this visit, he reportedly may have a meeting with US President Joe Biden, however, as yet there is no confirmation of the meeting. Both PM Shehbaz and Foreign Minister (FM) Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari will attend the dinner reception hosted by President Biden for heads of state and governments of countries attending the General Assembly.

    The head of government will be in the US for five days from September 19- 24.

    Fawad Chaudhry wants civil-military dosti, says let’s agree on rules of game

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to extend a hand of friendship between the civil and military forces.

    Chaudhry suggested that “Power should be transferred to the people of Pakistan.”

    “I call upon political parties and establishment let’s rewrite political framework Let’s agree on rules of game. Present system has failed Pak, we need to look up for fair rules,” tweeted Chaudhry.

    Chaudhry’s tweet comes after PTI Chairman Imran Khan instigated the public to revolt against ones who are making “threatening calls.”

    “Those who call you from unknown numbers and threaten you, you threaten them back. Who ever tries to scare you, scare them back,” said Khan.

    “I am asking Pakistanis to break the fear of idols, those threatening you by calling from unknown numbers and frightening you, threat and scare them in return,” said Khan.

    He claimed that since ‘Mr X and Mr Y’ have been issuing threats to people, they should be on the receiving end of their own medicine.

    “Frighten people by calling them from unknown numbers, and threaten them with inflicting harm,” he stated.

    Although the former Prime Minister has stopped short of naming the individuals he alleges are behind removing his government and threatening people, it is widely believed that he is talking about the security establishment of the country. At various times in his interviews and speeches, Imran Khan has referred to “neutrals”, “Mir Jaffar”, “Mir Sadiq”, “Mr. X” and “Mr. Y”.

    Pak-Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) will no longer sell the Suzuki Bolan’s AC variant. After almost 15 years, this variation was finally introduced last year, and tragically, its production will cease once again.

    The company’s decision to stop producing the AC variant of the Suzuki Bolan is a blatant indication that it has failed to pique consumer interest for a variety of reasons, some of which include its inflated cost and the extraordinarily uncomfortable ride.

    Despite all of these factors, other variants of Suzuki Bolan are extremely common in Pakistan and are seen running on almost every road and in every city.

    The first Suzuki Bolan with AC was introduced in 2006-2007, however it was a flop due to overheating, poor engine performance, and subpar AC.

    Moreover, the Bolan’s engine is housed underneath the driver’s seat, which makes it extremely challenging for the driver and front passenger to sit, particularly when the engine is hot.

    Despite expectations that the AC variation would be successful this time, it was not able to attract buyers.

    At least 47 people have been arrested in an operation to “deter further disorder” in Leicester, England, as the city deals with unrest since Saturday amid tensions involving mainly young men of Muslim and Hindu communities.


    As per Guardian, almost half of the 18 people arrested after violence erupted between Hindu and Muslim communities in Leicester over the weekend came from outside the county.

    How did it all start?

    The clashes began after a cricket match between India and Pakistan on August 28 in Leicester. Tensions between groups from India and Pakistan erupted right after the match, leading to a clash.


    In the days that followed reports of more clashes, rumours and speculation were spread on social media. The rumours were spread by miscreants from both sides, blaming the other group for the fights. Additionally, followers from one religious background accused the other religious group of violence.

    As a result of the rumours, people from outside of Leicester decided to visit the city and participate in more protests over the weekend, which led to further unrest.


    Community leaders in the city have called for “peace and engagement”.

    The recent disturbance in the city is unprecedented.


    Suleman Nagdi, of the Leicester-based Federation of Muslim Organisations, told the BBC, that cricket matches between India and Pakistan lead to unhappiness among supporters, matters have not turned so ugly in the past.

    He urged calm and warned that “The disorder has to end and it has to stop now.” He described what was happening on the streets as “extremely frightening.”

    Dananeer told her fans to put Vaseline, red pepper, and cinnamon powder on their lips. She said that this trick can make lips look perfectly full. Well, Ken Doll didn’t like this kitchen hack at all. He said that if someone wants fuller lips, they should spend money and go to a doctor. He went on to talk about a few products that can easily make the lips look full and perfect. He has told the girls that they can’t put red pepper on their lips or in their mouths because it can cause allergic reactions. He has said that these cheap kitchen tricks are too dangerous and that you shouldn’t fall for every one of them.

    Celebrity and dermatologist Shaista Lodhi has also slammed Dananeer in a podcast, “I don’t understand that how a person having a mobile becomes a doctor or a influencer herself. It’s very dangerous, please don’t do such things. Don’t apply red chilli direct on your lips at all, use a pink or red colored blush for such beauty hacks.”

    “If a person becomes a doctor or an expert, it happens through a process like I became a doctor through a process. I’m sure that if the internet of this country goes down for a day, 90% of the influencers will vanish away”, added the Pardes star.

    Actor Mathira also commented on the matter, “Omg wow why would anyone guide someone to put chillliiii on the lips pls everything on google babaaaaa ain’t always right and okay for all people some peoples skin are really sensitive”
