    Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Saturday New Delhi and Washington still shared “very positive” ties, after US President Donald Trump reaffirmed their personal friendship and downplayed his earlier remarks about “losing India” to China.

    The exchange comes amid strains after Washington imposed tariffs of up to 50 percent on Indian imports, accusing New Dehli of fuelling Moscow’s deadly attacks on Ukraine by purchasing Russian oil.

    But Trump and Modi, both right-wing populists, have shared a strong bond since the US president’s first term.

    “Deeply appreciate and fully reciprocate President Trump’s sentiments and positive assessment of our ties,” Modi wrote on X, adding that India and the United States shared a “very positive and forward-looking comprehensive and global strategic partnership”.

    Earlier, Trump told reporters that he “will always be friends with Modi”.

    “India and the United States have a special relationship. There is nothing to worry about,” Trump said, downplaying his earlier remarks about “losing India” to China.

    Last week, Modi visited China to attend a gathering of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, his first visit to the country in seven years signalling a thaw between the two Asian powers.

    Trump has appeared irritated at New Delhi as he seeks credit for what he said was Nobel Prize-worthy diplomacy for brokering peace between Pakistan and India following the worst conflict in decades between the nuclear-armed neighbours in May.

    India, which adamantly rejects any third-party mediation on Kashmir, has since given the cold shoulder to Trump.

    Karachi man abducted while selling phone through OLX

    A man in Karachi became the victim of an unusual crime when an online iPhone sale through OLX allegedly led to abduction and robbery.

    As per the details, suspects in a car contacted Saad Younus in Azizabad Block 8 under the pretext of purchasing his phone.

    According to the victim’s family, the men requested him to sit in their car so they could check the device.

    Saad was then allegedly kidnapped. He was also severely injured when the suspects, posing as anti-corruption officers, attacked him with a hammer during captivity.

    The victim later managed to save himself by jumping out of the moving car near Ghareebabad railway crossing. The suspects, however, fled with the iPhone.

    He was initially taken to a private hospital before being shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

    Despite the severity of the case, Azizabad police only issued a medical letter and attempted to close the matter without registering a case, reports said.

    Officials now say an investigation is underway, but negligence has delayed the filing of an FIR.

    Rising food prices push inflation up by 5 percent

    Owing to soaring retail prices of perishable food items, short-term inflation has risen 5.07 percent year-on-year in the week ending Sept 4.

    Measured by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI), short-term inflation refers to recent and frequent changes in the price of goods and services within an economy, rather than a long-term trend. It is measured to quickly gauge shifts in consumer prices and purchasing power over a very short period.

    SPI inflation has been on an upward trajectory for the past seven weeks, fuelled mainly by sharp increases in the prices of tomatoes, onions, potatoes, rice, chicken, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and wheat flour. Official data showed that inflation increased by 1.29pc on a weekly basis.

    Tomatoes led the surge, retailing at up to Rs300 per kg in Islamabad, while sugar climbed to Rs195–200 per kg. Meat prices also maintained a steady upward trend in recent weeks.

    While overall short-term inflation seems slower due to last year’s high base, the sharp escalation in perishables and a few key essentials has reversed the stable trend seen earlier this year.

    Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) on Saturday said that users in the country may experience disruptions due to submarine cable cuts near Jeddah.

    According to a statement issued by PTCL, the cuts occurred near Jeddah, affecting partial bandwidth capacity on the SMW4 and IMEWE systems, two of the key undersea cables that connect the country to global networks.

    The statement further said that international partners were working to restore the damaged links, while local teams were arranging alternative bandwidth to mitigate the impact.

    “We sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding during this time,” it added.

    The statement comes as multiple outrage reports surfaced Saturday morning. Data from Down Detector also showed disruptions building up overnight before a surge in complaints by 9 am.

    Elon Musk, already the world’s richest person, could be on the path to becoming the first trillionaire in history after Tesla’s board unveiled a massive new pay package for its CEO.

    The plan would grant Musk 423.7 million additional Tesla shares if the company achieves extraordinary growth.To unlock the shares, Tesla’s market capitalization must first rise to $2 trillion, nearly double today’s value, and eventually reach $8.5 trillion. 

    Musk must also meet ambitious operational and financial milestones, such as having 1 million robots in operation or boosting Tesla’s adjusted operating income to $50 billion, well above the $16.6 billion it reported last year.

    For Musk to receive the full package, Tesla’s market capitalization would need to rise to $8.5 trillion, far beyond its current $1.1 trillion valuation. That milestone would make Tesla the most valuable company in history, worth about twice Nvidia’s current market cap. 

    “It’s a big pay package but Tesla needs to keep its biggest asset in Musk as CEO,” Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives told a media outlet. “In this AI era Musk now will drive its next leg of growth. The Board had a $1 trillion dollar decision and made the right one.”


    The company’s proxy statement stressed Musk’s role in Tesla’s future, saying the board “believes that Mr. Musk singularly possesses the leadership characteristics necessary to transform Tesla and realize its long-term mission at an unparalleled level.”


    Musk already owns 410 million Tesla shares, worth $139 billion, alongside stakes in SpaceX, xAI, and other ventures. He has said it is essential for him to hold around 25% of Tesla’s voting control. “I am uncomfortable growing Tesla to be a leader in AI & robotics without having 25% voting control.Unless that is the case, I would prefer to build products outside of Tesla,” he wrote in a post on X.

    The new package connects Musk’s fortune to Tesla’s ability to achieve unprecedented growth. If those targets are reached, he would not only secure his position as the richest person alive, but also become the world’s first trillionaire.

    Social media influencer Dania Shah’s husband, Hakeem Shehzad, has issued a public apology over his viral video at a wedding besides an audio wherein he had used explicit language.

    In a video message, Shehzad admitted that it was inappropriate of him to upload such content online. Reflecting on his actions, he expressed regret over organising a mujra [dance] performance at a family wedding during a time when Pakistan was grappling with the devastating impact of floods.

    “I should not have uploaded that video online,” Shehzad said. “I should have instead organised the dance programme at a more appropriate time, not while the country was suffering due to floods.”

    He revealed that the Crime Control Department (CCD) had summoned him regarding the incident, informing him that his actions were inappropriate and unacceptable. Acknowledging his mistake, Shehzad said, “I am very much ashamed of my wrongdoing and I urge people to be mindful of their language. Choose your words wisely and maintain decency in communication.”

    Taking responsibility, Shehzad announced that all the money he had earned from the dance event would be donated to the victims of the recent floods in Pakistan.

    This is not the first time that the CCD intervened in cases involving social media influencers.

    Earlier, TikToker Kashif Zameer was also summoned by the department. Zameer was arrested after videos surfaced on social media showing his private security guards openly displaying firearms in public. The CCD swiftly launched a crackdown, detaining Zameer along with 13 of his heavily armed guards.

    The arrest was followed by an apology video from Zameer.

    TikToker and YouTuber Rajab Butt has finally addressed the swirling rumours about his marriage, firmly denying all claims of divorce while admitting to past mistakes and issuing a public apology to his wife. 

    In a recent YouTube video, Rajab responded to fan questions and online speculation, emphasizing that the marriage has not ended in divorce. 

    “On TikTok, people are claiming that my wife and I are divorced, while some have even spread rumours about the birth of my baby. I have never confirmed whether we are expecting or not,” Rajab said, expressing frustration over the misinformation. At one point, he gestured to his lips and remarked, “Did I say anything,” indicating his silence on the matter until now.

    Rajab asked his followers to wait until tomorrow, promising a full clarification. He also took aim at unofficial fan pages linked to either himself or his wife, Emaan, stating, “Those who want our separation will be rewarded with a slap because I don’t believe in words, I believe in actions. I have just waited for the right time.”

    Addressing the divorce claims directly, he asserted, “Every news regarding the divorce is wrong. Those who have used our names in their posts and podcasts are wrong.” He admitted to conflicts with his wife but stressed that their personal matters were handled privately. “We fought or killed each other, we did it in our house or recorded everything on our phones. I have never let it run on the news or the internet and will never let it happen in future.”

    Rajab confirmed he has apologized to his wife for his own mistakes but declined to reveal any issues from her side, stating that he will not discuss such matters on social media. “You guys must not have seen a marriage like ours,” he said, revealing that due to work commitments and other issues, he has been away from home for most of the six months since their marriage. “I have only been home for like 10 to 15 days, and you all know the circumstances.”
