Sonam Kapoor, Anand Ahuja welcome baby boy into their family

Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja have welcomed their second child, a baby boy, on March 29, the couple announced through a joint statement shared on social media.

The announcement was made through a note signed by Kapoor, Ahuja and their first son, Vayu. “With immense gratitude and hearts full of love, we are delighted to announce the arrival of our baby boy today, 29th of March 2026,” the statement read.

The note referred to the change in their family dynamic following the birth. It stated that their family had grown and that their “hearts have expanded” with the arrival of the child. The couple also shared that their first son had reacted to the news, adding that “Vayu is overjoyed to be a big brother.”

The statement further mentioned the family’s response to the newborn’s arrival. “We feel deeply blessed by this precious new life who has filled our home,” the note said, adding that they were “grateful to begin this new chapter as a family of four.”

Several members of the Bollywood film industry responded to the announcement in the comments section, including Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha and Zoya Akhtar, who extended congratulations.

Kapoor’s father, actor Anil Kapoor, also shared the announcement on his Instagram account along with a separate message. Addressing the newborn, he wrote, “Welcome to the world, my little one, you are already so deeply loved.”

He also addressed his grandson Vayu, writing, “Vayu, you’re a big brother now… and I know you’ll be amazing.”

In his message, Anil Kapoor thanked the couple and referred to his own reaction to the news, writing, “Nana’s heart is full.” He added, “Welcome to the madness… and a lifetime of love.”

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja got married in 2018 in a ceremony attended by family and friends. The couple welcomed their first child, Vayu, in 2022. Kapoor announced her second pregnancy in November last year.

  • PTI drops plan to form ‘Imran Khan release force’ after internal pushback

PTI drops plan to form ‘Imran Khan release force’ after internal pushback

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has abandoned its plan to form the “Imran Khan Release Force” after objections and legal concerns from within the party, reports quoted sources as saying.

The development marks a shift from an earlier proposal by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi aimed at the formation of a dedicated force to mobilise workers for the release of jailed former prime minister Khan. The plan also included taking oaths from volunteers and registering members for an organised campaign.

The same, however, faced resistance from within PTI shortly after it was floated. PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan described the idea as unconstitutional and illegal, warning that such a structure could fall under militancy-related concerns.

Party insiders said internal consultations were held following the objections, after which the leadership decided to drop the idea of a “force” altogether.

The initiative has now been restructured into a broader political movement open to all supporters, without any oath-taking or formal membership framework.

Reports quoted sources as saying that the revised approach focuses on a gradual, peaceful and political street-based movement. They added that participation will remain open, while any suggestion of organised militancy or violence has been rejected by the party.

Senior PTI leaders, according to insiders, also referred to past incidents including the May 9 unrest and the 2024 protests in Islamabad, stressing the need to avoid a repeat of violent clashes. They added that any future political activity will remain within constitutional limits, with emphasis on peaceful mobilisation.

Under the revised setup, decisions regarding the timing and nature of any protest movement will not be taken by the KP CM. Instead, these decisions will be handled by Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

Party sources also said that consultations were held with allied opposition parties as part of efforts to develop a coordinated strategy.

  • Sehar Hayat breaks silence, accuses ex-husband of abuse

Sehar Hayat breaks silence, accuses ex-husband of abuse

Pakistani social media influencer Sehar Hayat has broken her silence on her divorce from former husband Sami Rasheed, addressing ongoing online discussion and clarifying the circumstances of her separation.

Taking to Instagram, Sehar responded to social media speculation and confirmed that she had taken khula, citing repeated verbal abuse, threats, and mistreatment during their marriage.

“Hi everyone. I woke up this morning and saw what is being discussed on social media. Let me make one thing very clear. Everywhere you look, people jump into controversies just to gain reach on their accounts,” she wrote.

She explained her reasons for seeking khula and alleged repeated verbal abuse in front of family members.

“Regarding khula, yes, I have taken khula. When a woman is repeatedly told things like ‘Should I divorce you?’ or ‘I will remind you of your worth in three words,’ and when she is verbally abused in front of her parents and family, then she has no option but to take khula,” she stated.

Sehar also addressed matters related to their daughter, saying that she was not supported financially and was used in online content for attention.

“As for my daughter, for an entire year she was not remembered. No financial support was given for her expenses even once. I was never against him meeting her, but he never made the effort. Now stories are being shared only to gain social media attention and create a false image,” she stated.

She added that she usually avoids responding publicly but decided to speak after her daughter’s name was brought into the discussion.

“Everyone knows I usually do not respond, which is why false narratives keep spreading. But now that my daughter’s name is being used, I feel it is necessary to respond,” she wrote.

Sehar also requested that her daughter’s content be removed from social media.

“I request all editors to please remove my daughter Airah’s pictures and videos. She will no longer appear on social media. My daughter is not anyone’s content,” she said.

Responding to claims made about her past, she said her former husband had no right to discuss her personal life publicly.

“He also brought up my past in his stories. If he can publicly discuss my past on social media, then it is clear he may be doing the same privately as well. People often see one side of the story and start supporting it immediately. But I have enough evidence to defend myself,” she stated.

She also mentioned unresolved personal matters following their separation.

“By the way, my car still has not been returned. If he truly missed his daughter that much, he could have returned the car keys himself. But it seems the car matters more than anything else,” she added.

The controversy comes after Sami Rasheed addressed their separation during an Instagram Q&A session. He clarified that Sehar initiated khula and said he respected her decision.

“I did not give divorce to my wife. In fact, I never even wanted it. My wife chose to take khula, which is her right, and I respect her decision. Sometimes life takes people in different directions. I still miss them, but I understand this was her decision and she had every right to make it. May Allah bless her with happiness,” he said.

The couple married in 2023 and later separated in September 2025.

  • Pakistan eyes early, permanent end to US-Iran war

Pakistan eyes early, permanent end to US-Iran war

Pakistan convened officials from Turkiye, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia on Sunday to discuss a diplomatic end to the Iran war with cnversations in Islamabad centered on reopening the Strait of Hormuz to maritime shipping.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that the regional powers examined “possible ways to bring an early and permanent end to the war in the region.”

During the first day of sessions, participants received briefings on potential US-Iran talks in Islamabad. The meetings took place as Iran warned the US against a ground attack while global oil prices fluctuate amid fighting between Iran, the US, and Israel.

The foreign ministers have floated proposals to Washington DC regarding maritime traffic in the Gulf to stabilize shipping flows, five sources told an international media outlet. The Strait of Hormuz previously carried one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas, but Iran halted flows following U.S. and Israeli air strikes a month ago.

A Pakistani source informed an international media outlet that proposals, including those from Egypt, reached the White House before the Sunday meeting. These plans reportedly involve Suez Canal-style fee structures.

Two additional Pakistani sources said that Turkiye, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia could form a consortium to manage oil flows through the waterway, while claiming that Pakistan was asked to participate.

A day earlier, Dar held one-on-one meetings with his Turkish and Egyptian counterparts.

Dar noted that all sides expressed confidence in Pakistan’s role, adding that China “fully supports” the initiative. Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the White House did not provide comment on the matter.

  • Maya Ali, Hania Aamir speak up for Yumna Zaidi after Javeria Saud shares ‘childhood’ picture

Maya Ali, Hania Aamir speak up for Yumna Zaidi after Javeria Saud shares ‘childhood’ picture

Actors Maya Ali and Hania Aamir have spoken in support of Yumna Zaidi after Javeria Saud’s remarks on a television show led to a public exchange.

Saud shared a childhood photograph during her show, stating that it was of Zaidi and remarking that some actors had been working “since the stone ages” before gaining recognition.

Zaidi responded on social media, slamming the use of unverified material on television. “This is not my childhood picture. It’s an identity based disinformation. Any data or information should be rectified before airing on national television. Thanks,” she wrote.

Following Zaidi’s response, Maya Ali addressed the situation in an Instagram story, calling for accountability within the industry. “When will we start respecting our own talent, our actors, our stars?” she wrote. “People dedicate their lives to their craft day and night, and the saddest part is, it’s not outsiders pulling them down. it’s often voices from within our own industry doing it publicly on big platforms.”

She added, “ALLAH has written everyone’s destiny and their time. Na waqt se pehle, na waqt ke baad….. Let’s stop pulling each other down. Let’s stand for one another!! Aaj koi aur hai, kal app bhi ho sakte hain.” Maya also urged media platforms to act with responsibility, stating, “And a humble request to the channels, please verify before airing anything about anyone. Use your platform responsibly.”

Hania Aamir later reshared Maya Ali’s statement on her Instagram Story, adding, “What she said,” indicating her support for Zaidi.

Javeria Saud subsequently issued a clarification, stating that the image had been taken from social media without verification. “Due to some online confusion and misinformation, our team came across this picture on social media and used it without proper verification. I truly regret this and sincerely apologize,” she said.

Addressing Zaidi directly, Saud added, “Yumna, you have always been very close to my heart. I have immense love and respect for you and your work.”

She also responded to the age-related remark, stating, “As for the age related comment, it has unfortunately been misunderstood. I was referring to a different context about a time period of work, not about anyone’s age. It was a general remark and was never intended for anyone in particular.”

  • 12 tonnes of KitKat stolen during transport; internet wants Pakistan to intervene

12 tonnes of KitKat stolen during transport; internet wants Pakistan to intervene

A shipment of KitKat chocolate bars has gone missing in Europe in what Nestlé described as a theft involving more than 413,000 units of a new range.

The cargo, weighing around 12 tonnes, was being transported from Italy to Poland when it disappeared during transit last week.

The shipment was scheduled for distribution across multiple European markets but did not reach its destination.

“We’ve always encouraged people to have a break with KitKat,” a Nestlé spokesperson said on Saturday. “But it seems thieves have taken the message too literally.”

The company stated that the incident could impact supply chains ahead of Easter, a period of high demand for chocolate products across Europe.

Nestlé said there is concern the missing stock could enter unofficial sales channels, adding that authorities are working with logistics partners to investigate the case.

Each bar in the shipment carries a batch code that can be used to identify whether it belongs to the missing consignment, according to the company.

Social media users reacted with memes and commentary around the disappearance, turning the incident into a running joke about a “KitKat heist”. One post read, “Not them being kit napped .”

Another user joked about gaming culture, writing, “Kit Kat heist… before GTA 12T tho.”

A separate reaction suggested that the incident be ignored since it is chocolate and may be making someone happy, trailing off with “have a break, have a kit-kat”.

“Oil shortage ❌KitKat shortage ✔️,” one post stated.

“It’s not about the chocolate, it’s about sending a message. Nobody gets a break,” another user wrote.

A user tagged the Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, jokingly asking for intervention in reference to Pakistan’s efforts for peace between the US and Iran.

  • ICC slammed for using official account to promote Indian chairman Jay Shah

ICC slammed for using official account to promote Indian chairman Jay Shah

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is being slammed on social media after a post from its official X account praised chairman Jay Shah over his inclusion in a list of powerful Indians.

The ICC account shared a message referring to a report that placed Shah at 22nd spot in the IE100 list of most powerful Indians in 2026. The post did not relate to cricket and instead focused on the recognition received by the ICC chairman.

“It is said that power and responsibility go hand-in-hand. This recognition is well-deserved and one that will definitely motivate our chairman @JayShah to strive harder towards loftier goals for the sport,” the ICC wrote.

The post drew strong reactions from cricket fans, many of whom questioned the use of an official cricket body’s platform for what they described as personal promotion.

“Jay Shah congratulating Jay Shah,” one user wrote.

“This is embarrassing in the extreme. It makes you look like a piss pot organisation. What a clown show,” another commented.

“Is this a joke?? Is this a BCCI account??” a user questioned.

Others also expressed concern over the direction of the governing body.

“What a fall of ICC. Cricket is getting disliked,” one comment read.

“Is this actually official icc account,” another netizen questioned.

“This is actually disgusting and sick,” a post read.

“Just minus his father and see where he stands he can’t even speak of his own,” another added.

It is worth noting that Jay Shah currently serves as the Chairman of the ICC.

This is not the first time Shah’s presence in official cricket content has sparked criticism. He previously faced backlash after appearing multiple times in a celebration video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India following India’s T20 World Cup victory.

In 2025, the ICC also drew criticism over a promotional video for the World Test Championship final that featured repeated shots of Shah instead of focusing on the competing teams.

  • No ‘weekend lockdown’: Govt says viral notification is fake

No ‘weekend lockdown’: Govt says viral notification is fake

The federal Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MoIB) has rejected a notification circulating on social media claiming that a nationwide weekend lockdown will be imposed in the country, stating that the document is fake.

In a post on its official fact-check account on X, the ministry stated that the viral notification was “fake” and urged users not to spread misinformation.

“Avoid sharing fake news and false posts. Be a responsible citizen and only trust verified sources,” the post read.

The undated document falsely attributed instructions to Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, claiming a lockdown was being imposed due to a “continuing Gulf oil crisis”.

It stated that a “complete and comprehensive lockdown throughout the country” would be enforced every Saturday and Sunday starting April 5.

“The lockdown shall take effect every Saturday from 12:01am and continue till 11:59pm every Sunday,” the document read.

No such notification has been issued by the government.

However, officials indicated that a plan related to energy conservation is under consideration, which may include a nationwide smart lockdown and other measures, though no decision has been announced.

Under the proposal, markets and shopping malls may close at 9:30pm, while wedding halls could be limited to 200 guests with a one-dish policy and a 10pm closing time.

A 50 percent rota system is also under consideration, along with digital attendance monitoring and weekly audits. Similar arrangements may apply to private offices, including up to 50 percent remote working.

Measures being reviewed also include restricting the use of air conditioners in government offices before 10:30am and shifting public sector buildings to solar energy within 60 days.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced austerity steps following a fuel shortage linked to tensions in the Middle East after attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran.

The measures included a four-day work week, work-from-home policy, and a 50 percent cut in fuel allocation for government vehicles.

Cabinet members, advisers and special assistants were directed not to draw salaries for two months, while salaries of members of parliament were reduced by 25 percent. Expenditures of government departments, excluding salaries, were also cut by 20 percent.

  • ‘I will not tolerate theft’: Saheefa Jabbar responds to ex-employee’s claims of wrongful firing

‘I will not tolerate theft’: Saheefa Jabbar responds to ex-employee’s claims of wrongful firing

Model Saheefa Jabbar Khattak has responded to claims made by a former employee, addressing the controversy surrounding her business and setting clear expectations for workplace conduct.

Taking to Instagram, Saheefa shared a detailed statement in which she defended her approach and made it clear that she will not accept dishonesty or unprofessional behavior in her workplace.

“I think before this also gets taken out of context any further, I need to be very clear. I will not tolerate theft, dishonesty, or negligence in my business. Not from employees, and not from vendors,” she wrote.

She highlighted several issues that she considers unacceptable, including being late, lack of teamwork, and poor service.

“If you’re showing up hours late, not supporting your team, walking out during peak hours without notice, delivering low- quality products, or taking what isn’t yours, you will not be a part of this space,” she stated.

Saheefa stressed that her decisions come from maintaining standards rather than personal ego.

“This isn’t about ego. This is about standards. I owe it to the people who show up every day, who work honestly, and who rely on this place for their livelihood, especially when it comes to protecting their tips and their efforts,” she emphasised.

She also acknowledged that there was a learning curve as a business owner but stood firm on her principles.

“I’m new, yes. But I’m not unaware. And I’m learning fast. I will not apologise for setting boundaries, protecting my team, or securing my business. If that makes me ‘difficult’ so be it,” she added.

The statement came after a former employee shared a vlog alleging unfair dismissal and unpaid dues, which sparked debate on social media.

While Saheefa did not name the individual, her response appeared to address the accusations and reinforce her commitment to discipline and accountability.

Saheefa Jabbar recently entered the food business with two eateries in Lahore, where she aims to deliver a quality-focused dining experience. Her ventures have faced criticism online in recent days, including negative reviews following earlier controversies.

  • Bushra Bibi’s eyesight deteriorates in jail, PTI demands inquiry

Bushra Bibi’s eyesight deteriorates in jail, PTI demands inquiry

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has raised concerns over the health of party founder Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, and called for her transfer to a hospital, citing lack of medical care at Adiala jail.

The development follows reports about her eyesight, after a similar situation involving Imran Khan, whose legal team had linked his retinal condition to delays in treatment during incarceration. He later underwent procedures at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Party officials stated that Bushra Bibi’s condition indicates denial of basic rights, referring to findings attributed to a medical specialist.

“Reports emerging from Adiala jail indicate that Bushra Bibi is experiencing vision impairment,” PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram stated.

He said, “A report by an eye specialist from PIMS further substantiates that she is being deliberately deprived of basic human rights and essential medical care. This is not mere negligence, but a continuation of a calculated act of cruelty and political victimisation.”

According to a party statement, an ophthalmologist examined Bushra Bibi after she reported pain in her right eye, blurred vision, black spots, flashes in darkness and headaches for nearly two weeks.

The assessment diagnosed Posterior Vitreous Detachment (PVD), along with myopia and astigmatism, the party stated.

“It is severely condemnable that a female detainee, already held under controversial and questionable circumstances, is being subjected to such dangerous neglect regarding her health,” Akram remarked.

“Delays and indifference in addressing a sensitive issue like vision impairment could lead to a serious humanitarian crisis.”

PTI demanded immediate access to medical care, transfer to a hospital, and public release of medical reports. The party also called for access for her family and legal counsel.

“If anything happens to Bushra Bibi, the current government will be held responsible for it. Moreover, he said that relevant authorities and jail administration will also be equally responsible,” he added.

The concerns intensified after a document dated March 28 from Adiala jail circulated on social media, referring to an issue with Bushra Bibi’s eye. Akram confirmed the party sought details after the document surfaced and later verified her condition.

“This issue is not about an individual’s health. It reflects a dark stain on the face of the state system,” he said.

“The violation of fundamental human rights under the guise of political revenge is unacceptable. Such actions not only contravene the Constitution but also violate the norms of any civilised society.”

Akram said the party “will take all necessary steps to ensure that the matter reaches its logical conclusion.”
