    Pakistani celebrities raise voice against Israeli atrocities in Palestine

    With the nonstop bombardment of missiles by Israelis and destruction of Palestinian homes, offices, security buildings and residential property, nearly 200 Palestinians have been killed, including 58 children, in the Gaza Strip as Israeli monstrosities enter the second week.

    People across the world including Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are raising their voices for the Palestinians with Pakistani celebrities too using their social media presence to call out atrocities of Israeli military on innocent people.

    “Can you imagine kissing your child to sleep and not knowing if you all will see them again? That’s the reality of life in Palestine right now. That’s the horror those children, those innocent beings live in,” said Ayeza Khan. “My heart aches to even think about this. We can’t do much. But we do have a voice. And together, we can use it to stop the cruelties on our brothers and sisters.”

    Taking to Instagram, Mahira Khan wrote: “If we remain silent, there is blood on our hands too.”

    “Free Palestine,” she added.

    Maya Ali also took to Instagram and wrote: “All of my prayers are with the Palestinians.

    She also prayed for the people of Palestine. “O Allah, please help, protect and support the people in Palestine and ease their pains and sufferings. Ameen!”

    Maya added: “I’ve been absolutely speechless and heart broken of seeing the horrifying attacks on the innocent people of #Palestine. Its high time that we all come together, raise our voices and spread awareness about the current situation in Palestine. When the world unites, miracles happen!”

    Sharing a viral video of a Palestinian girl questioning what her fault is and whether it is fair to attack them like this, Ayesha Omar said: “No it’s not. It’s not fair. It’s not fair. It’s not human.”

    Yasir Hussain also expressed his sadness over the situation, saying: “Khamosh rehny waly tamaam Muslim mumaalik ye bhool rhy hain k aisa unky sath bhi ho sakta hai. Hamen khamoshi ki aadat dali ja rahi hai.“

    Bilal Abbas Khan also shared pictures of protestors demanding to save Palestine from injustice and apartheid of Israel.

    Other celebrities including Feroze Khan, Haroon Shahid, Shehzad Roy, Zara Noor Abbas and Hania Aamir among others also rose their voice and called out Israeli violence on Palestinians.

    Meanwhile, the United Nations (UN) Security Council met on Sunday to discuss the violence but failed to agree on even a joint statement of concern.

    Infant reunited with father after miraculously surviving Israeli airstrike

    A child was reunited with his father after miraculously surviving an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.

    The infant identified as Omar was rescued on Saturday morning after being pulled from a debris at Al-Shati Refugee Camp in Gaza.

    As per reports, 10 family members including eight children and two women of the family died in the Israeli strike.

    The infant, who was pictured wrapped in a blanket, was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. A doctor at the Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza said they are treating the child’s fractured leg and other wounds. The father of the child was later reunited with him.

    Talking to media, the father said that his wife and four sons, aged 14 to six, along with another woman and her four children were killed.

    “They went to relatives to celebrate Eid,” he said.

    Al-Hadidi said his baby boy Omar was his only child who survived the attack. He said: “Thank God I still have Omar.”

    He asked what did his children do to Israel to deserve such violence.

    “Were they throwing stones at the Israeli forces or attacking them that they targeted his children in their sleep.”

    ‘Fighting must stop immediately’: UN Secretary-General

    UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Sunday called on Israel and Palestine to “immediately end fighting” and return to negotiations.

    “The United Nations is actively engaging all sides towards an immediate ceasefire,” António Guterres added.

    All members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), who participated in an emergency meeting on the situation in Palestine on Sunday, urged Israel not to make demographic and territorial changes in the occupied territory and immediately cease its hostilities.

    Pakistan on Sunday urged the US to play its role in addressing the worsening Palestine crisis and restore peace in the region.

    Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi spoke with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday. They discussed bilateral relations and important regional developments, particularly the deteriorating situation in Palestine.

    The Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in their emergency meeting on Sunday condemned what they described as “barbaric” Israeli attacks on Palestinians and urged the UN Security Council to act swiftly to bring an end to the atrocities.

    The meeting was convened by Saudi Arabia. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi represented Pakistan at the virtual session. He stressed upon the member states that the OIC must not fail the people of Palestine at this critical juncture.

    Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have claimed the lives of 42 more people, taking the death toll to 188. According to Gaza health officials, 16 women and 10 children were killed in the recent air strikes which also targeted the home of a Hamas leader.

    Doctor innovates suicide machine to die without pain

    Founder of Exit International Dr Philip Nitschke has developed a machine that will help people die in peace without pain.

    Dr Nitschke also knows as Dr Death, is the founder of Exit International. He has been helping people with Euthanasia (the practice of intentionally ending a life to relieve pain and suffering) if they are above 50 and suffering from “unbearable pain” because of a terminal illness.

    The doctor believes that “It is one’s own choice to end life whenever they want, and each person has the right to choose.”

    Dr Death worked on a new suicide portable machine called ‘Sarco’ that will allow volunteers to die in peace, without suffering.

    Dr Nitschke met several people in Australia who wanted to end their lives but didn’t have enough medical reasons for the approval. He mentioned during the interview that he met a French woman, a scholar, who had “planned to die at age 80. Not because she was sick, but simply because she thought that was a beautiful age to pass away. When I [Dr Nitschke] responded with initial scepticism, she answered that it wasn’t his place to judge her. She said it was her decision, one that isn’t bound by the rules I follow as a doctor.”

    The biggest scepticism he gets against his philosophy is that “There is no such thing as rational suicide, and that a death wish is, per definition, the result of a psychiatric illness.”

    He said, “I reject that idea.”

    Dr Nitschke argued that death should be a choice. People violently end their lives. People hang themselves or jump in front of a train. In the United Kingdom (UK), death from hanging is the most common method. It is preferable to rather die peacefully (in Sarco) than horribly killing yourself.

    Here is how the machine works. He explained that “after you have taken your seat inside the machine, nitrogen starts flowing. After a minute and a half you start to feel disoriented (a feeling comparable to that of having a few too many drinks) and a few minutes later you lose consciousness. In about five minutes, you’re gone. The only way to control the coffin is from the inside, so it’s not possible to kill someone with it. You can also choose either a dark or transparent view, so you can take the machine somewhere if you prefer a certain view.”

    The ideas and innovation of Dr Nitschke have received lots of attention, and recently he is getting death threats from unknown people.

She all those watching to talk about the issue openly so that the pleas of the Palestinians could be amplified and heard across the world.

    “Don’t stop talking! Be a better person,” wrote Aamir in the caption.

    Hania also regretted how she was posting Eid photos and videos on social media instead of talking about the ongoing situation of Palestine.

    The Ishqiya actor added that civil pressure is important for social change, saying: “So talk about it, just one hashtag or two hashtags won’t harm or consume your time.”

    Agreeing with Hania, Ayesha Omar commented: “Absolutely. Absolutely. I couldn’t agree more.”

    Meanwhile, Zara Noor Abbas also urged people to raise their voices for Palestinians saying that she is disappointed with those posting Eid pictures on social media.

    “For people talking about Palestine/Gaza now, what happened to this conversation when everyone was posting pictures of Eid outfit [of day] 1,2 and 3,” said the actor.

    She continued: “Let’s not make this topic convenience related. If you feel ashamed or broken for Gaza, then change your perspective on how you celebrate life of social media and put that particular light on the current chaos in Palestine.

    “Don’t showcase happiness if you feel helpless,” she added.

    Early on Monday, the Israeli military launched a fresh series of air raids on the Gaza Strip with explosions rocking the Gaza City from north to south in a bombardment that was heavier, wider and lasted longer than the air raids that killed at least 42 Palestinians and wounded dozens more on Sunday.

    As per reports, at least 192 people, including 58 children and 34 women, have been killed in the Gaza Strip since violence erupted a week ago.

    A deaf child who survived the air-strike explains what he experienced.

    Israeli warplanes unleashed a new series of heavy airstrikes at several locations in Gaza early on Monday, hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signalled that the bombings would rage on.

    In a televised address on Sunday, Netanyahu said the Israeli air raids were continuing at “full-force” and would “take time”, adding that his country “wants to levy a heavy price” from Gaza’s Hamas rulers.

    While Palestinians mourn the loss of their loved ones, others called out Israel, standing with Palestine.

    US Representative, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “If the Biden admin can’t stand up to an ally, who can it stand up to?”

    She further tweeted,” Apartheid states aren’t democracies.”

    People from across the world marched in solidarity with Palestinians.

    “There is no space in any of the hospital rooms,” Journalist Youmna Al Sayed reported, saying that Gaza’s healthcare system is on the verge of collapsing.

    Supermodel Bella Hadid joined a protest in New York in solidarity with Palestinian people against Israeli violence in Palestine.

    Sharing pictures from the protest, Hadid said: “The way my heart feels, to be around this many beautiful, smart, respectful, loving, kind and generous Palestinians all in one place.”

    “It feels whole! We are a rare breed,” she added. “It’s free Palestine till Palestine is free!”

    Pictures of the model at the protests went viral on social media with netizens lauding her for standing up for the opressed.

    Hadid’s father also shared the pictures of his daughter from the protest on social media.

    Earlier, Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid also raised their voice against the continued Israeli atrocities against the people of Palestine.

    The Government of Kyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on February 4, 2021, appointed Waqar Zaka as an expert on digital assets (Cryptocurrency & Cryptomining). Zaka was the host of the wildly popular reality show Living on the Edge and is now a YouTuber.

    The Directorate of Science and Technology of KP formed an advisory committee on the “resolutions and recommendation” of KP’s assembly.

    Advisor to Chief Minister (CM) KP on Science and Technology Ziaullah Khan Bangash has been appointed the chairperson for the advisory committee while KP Minister for Finance Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra has been appointed Senior Vice Chairman.

    Sharing the news on social media, Zaka said: “I’m hired as a crypto expert by the government of Pakistan, and I have decided not to charge a single penny and I will provide all my services for free.”

    Along with the official notification, Zaka also shared a video expressing disappointment with the Sindh government for not taking the necessary steps on digital assets.

    “I have contacted the concerned IT person who is working for the Sindh government, and I can show all WhatsApp messages that I have sent to him,” said Zaka. “I have also talked to many people from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) but no one has taken it seriously.”

    “I will work for free. All province should launch their coin, and Pakistan can generate lots of revenue through digital assets. It will also bring innovation in the processes of tax collection. People should ask Bilawal Bhutto, chairman of PPP, that why these facilities aren’t provided to the common people,” added the host.

    It is noteworthy to mention that KP is the first province in Pakistan to legalise crypto trading, and the administration is planning to launch its own cryptocurrency.

  • Shehbaz files contempt petition in LHC against FIA officials

    Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif submitted a contempt petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday, against six officials who allegedly barred him from flying abroad despite the court’s order granting him permission.

    PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif’s name has been added to the Exit Control List (ECL).

     Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry, in a tweet said that with the approval of the cabinet and completion of all legal formalities, Shehbaz’s name was added to the no-fly list.

    Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that Shehbaz had not submitted any medical documents for travelling abroad or specify the treatment for his illness.

    “This is the first time that a verdict was given the same day a petition was filed. Shehbaz was trying to flee the country,” he remarked.

    Sheikh further added we want fair treatment for all prisoners and this is not fair. “What are the chances that Shehbaz Sharif will return when his brother Nawaz Sharif has yet to come back?” said Sheikh.

    He added that the PML-N leader may influence the approvers.

    Rasheed said Shehbaz can file an appeal against the decision in the Interior Ministry within 15 days.

    Earlier this month, the Lahore High Court granted Shehbaz permission to travel abroad once for medical treatment.

    After obtaining bail, Shehbaz was about to fly to London when an FIA team at the airport stopped him from travelling on the grounds that his name had been on the list of persons barred from leaving the country.
