Saudi court fines woman 50,000 riyals for advising friend to leave husband

A woman in Saudi Arabia has been fined 50,000 Saudi Riyals for miscounseling her friend and advising her to leave her husband and find a better one.

According to details, the husband will get the money while the woman has promised that she will not advise any married woman, regardless of her intentions, according to court records. Lawyers have described the court ruling as a unique judicial precedent.

The defendant’s friend’s husband filed a case against the woman for trying to destroy his marriage and wanted compensation for the stress he suffered because of this.

He stated in his complaint that the defendant badly counselled his wife and urged her not to listen to him, saying: “My wife’s friend incited my disobedience, by giving her advice that harmed our marital relationship.”

“She used to tell my wife ‘You should find someone better for yourself. Show him who’s the boss. Don’t let them push you around’,” he added.

On the other hand, the defendant said she wanted nothing but the best for her friend.

The court advised the partners to determine what advice they should take seriously and what to ignore, because “friends may ruin a relationship by giving bad advice out of jealousy”.

  • Pakistan trade deficit increases to $2,968bn in March

Pakistan trade deficit increases to $2,968bn in March

Pakistan trade deficit has increased by 97.6 per cent in March, Ministry of Commerce data showed on Thursday.

The deficit has increased from $1.502bn to $2.968bn. On a month-on-month basis, the trade deficit grew by 17.77pc.

The trade gap is widening since December 2020. In February, it swelled by 23.93pc to $2.52bn against $2.03bn over the corresponding months of the last year.

Commerce Advisor to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, Abdul Razak Dawood tweeted: “The imports grew to $5,313 million in March which is mainly due to increased imports of petroleum, wheat, soybean, machinery, raw material, chemicals, mobiles, fertilisers, tyres, antibiotics, and vaccines.” The surge in trade deficit is mainly led by higher growth in imports with lower growth in exports in March 2021.

The decline in imports in the last two years had provided breathing space to the government to manage external accounts despite a downward trend in exports. But, rebounding imports would likely create pressures on the external side.

It seems that the rise in imports will put lots of pressure on the incumbent government. However, the growth in remittances will balance against the import bills.

Unofficially, it is believed that the current account deficit in FY21 will remain in the range of $4bn to $6bn by end of June.

According to Mr Dawood, the growth in exports in March is the highest in the last ten years. This is also the first time since 2011 that exports have crossed $2bn the mark for six consecutive months.

The Economic Coordination Committee of the cabinet had allowed the import of cotton and cotton yarn from India, but the decision was reversed one day after by the federal cabinet chaired by PM Imran.

The stakeholders had warned that export orders in hand will eventually be diverted to rival countries if the cotton yarn is not made available in the required quantity.

Lahore: 550 doses of COVID-19 vaccine go missing from one hospital, 350 spoiled at another

Around 550 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have reportedly gone missing from Lahore’s Services Hospital, media reports have claimed citing sources at the health department.

According to the reports, an additional 350 doses of coronavirus vaccines stored at the city’s Government Mozang Teaching Hospital have “gone to waste”, while no record could be found for the nearly 600 missing ones.

The missing vaccines have been administered to important personalities, bureaucrats, and their friends, sources at the health department said, adding that Federal Minister for Housing Tariq Bashir Cheema of the Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q), along with his wife, also received the COVID-19 jab from the missing doses.

On the other hand, the principal of the Services Hospital says that the vaccines haven’t disappeared but there has been an issue with the compilation of records.

Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid maintains that the government is carrying out an audit of the vaccine doses and a report related to that will be submitted soon.

Meanwhile, the medical superintendent of Mozang Teaching Hospital has been suspended after 350 coronavirus vaccine doses stored there were spoiled.

British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom have got their own Kardashian-style show: a BBC Three documentary titled Meet The Khans: Big In Bolton, in which the couple gave fans a sneak peek into their lives and relationship.

During the show, Faryal reportedly said that Amir no longer cheats on her because he’s an “old man” now.

“We’ve been through hell and back,” said Faryal, while talking about the various scandals over the year. It is pertinent to mention here that Amir has been accused of cheating more than nine times.

“He was never able to enjoy his youth because of all his hard work, so he never really got it out of his system. He’d get caught in the wrong places,” said Faryal while explaining the reasons behind her husband’s infidelity.

“We’ve moved on. The past is the past, we were young, we grew up together – the bad and the good,” she said further, adding: “Amir was so famous and so young when I first started dating him and married him, and now it’s like… he’s an old man!”
