  • Javed Afridi announces Rs50 million to honour Pakistan Air Force

Javed Afridi announces Rs50 million to honour Pakistan Air Force

Days after what was deemed by foreign observers as Pakistan’s “unambiguous victory” in response to Indian aggression, Peshawar Zalmi owner and Zalmi Foundation founder Javed Afridi has announced a donation of Rs50 million to honour the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

“Their unwavering courage, dedication and sacrifice are the heartbeat of our national pride. Today, we honour them not just with words but through meaningful action,” he said in a press statement. His franchise, Peshawar Zalmi, also released a statement expressing full support for the armed forces.

The announcement comes at a difficult time for the country. Along with national security concerns, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 has been suspended indefinitely. The decision was made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after drone activity was reported near Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, raising serious security concerns.

Pakistan had been experiencing tense days with airspace closures and missile alerts causing fear across major cities. While a ceasefire was agreed to with US mediation, the situation over the past week led to matches being postponed, foreign players leaving the country and the PCB eventually suspending the rest of the tournament.

While Afridi’s generous donation is being seen as a reminder that national unity is more important than sports, the Zalmi Foundation, which often works on social welfare projects, has also shifted its focus to supporting national security personnel.

It merits a mention that Afridi, one of the key figures behind the success of Peshawar Zalmi and the PSL, continues to support the PCB’s decisions during this challenging time. He has also called on fans and players to remain united and hopeful.

Meanwhile, the future of PSL Season 10 may become clearer soon as the PCB is working on plans to resume the tournament.

  • No more war, pleads Pope Leo as India and Pakistan pull back from the brink

No more war, pleads Pope Leo as India and Pakistan pull back from the brink

Just a few days after being appointed as the 267th leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV utilized his first Sunday address to advocate for worldwide peace and expressed his approval of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, after the two nuclear-armed nations narrowly averted another large-scale conflict last week.

Addressing thousands assembled at the Vatican on 11 May, the 69-year-old American-born pope stated:

“I was pleased to learn, on a positive note, of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, and I hold onto the hope that in the forthcoming negotiations we might swiftly achieve a lasting agreement.”

His comments came in the wake of heightened military tensions between the two nuclear-capable nations. Between May 6 and May 10, 2025, there was a marked escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan, representing one of the most serious clashes between the two nuclear-armed nations in recent history. The catalyst for the flare-up was a lethal attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, mainly Hindu tourists. Without presenting any proof, India blamed the attack on groups based in Pakistan and conducted retaliatory airstrikes against military sites, including the Nur Khan air base close to Islamabad. In retaliation, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos, using drones and missiles to strike Indian military positions.

The subsequent exchanges involved aerial combats, drone incursions, and artillery bombardments, resulting in considerable damage to infrastructure, with both sides attributing blame for instigating the violence. As tensions escalated, the United States intervened via backchannel diplomacy. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio directly communicated with the leaders of India and Pakistan to mitigate the crisis. A ceasefire was established on May 10, which Pakistan acknowledged was a result of US mediation. However, India credited its own military communications for the resolution.

In his speech, Pope Leo, formerly known as Bishop Robert Prevost, broadened his focus beyond South Asia. He also expressed profound concern regarding the genocide in Gaza and war Ukraine. Regarding the situation in Gaza, he stated he was “deeply pained” by the suffering of the people of the besieged strip and called for an immediate ceasefire, the accessibility of humanitarian aid, and the release of all hostages. Concerning Ukraine, he urged the global powers to do “everything within their capacity” to achieve a “true and lasting peace.”

Echoing the sentiments of his predecessor Pope Francis, he reiterated the call:

    “No more war.”

Pope Leo is scheduled for a formal inauguration on May 18, yet his initial message has clearly articulated his stance: in support of those affected by conflict and against individuals who perpetuate it.

  • Foreign countries asking for training with Pakistan Air Force: AVM Aurangzeb

Foreign countries asking for training with Pakistan Air Force: AVM Aurangzeb

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Aurangzeb Ahmed stated on Sunday that several foreign countries are asking for training with the PAF, reflecting the sophistication and professionalism of the force.

“The Pakistan Air Force is giving training to foreign countries; they are coming and asking in numbers that they want to come and have training with us. We have been invited to an international exercise. The kind of training we have is remarkable,” Aurangzeb said in a press conference.

It should be mentioned here that during the night of May 6 and May 7, Pakistan shot down five IAF fighter jets, including three Rafale, one Su-30 and one Mig-29.

He was flanked by Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz and Inter-Services Public Relations Director-General (ISPR DG) Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry during the press conference.

Aurangzeb’s answer came in reply to a question about the difference between the engagement of PAF and the Indian Air Force (IAF). “Was it J 10-C or something else,” a reporter asked.

On Pakistan’s response to Indian aggression, he said the PAF targeted the highest number of IAF airfields in a single mission since 1971. “We avoided civilian damage and hit with great accuracy,” he noted.

Crediting Chief of Air Staff Zaheer Ahmad Babar as the brains behind the operation, Aurangzeb said, “He gave us three tasks: restore deterrence, neutralise threats, and control the air.”

He revealed that in the first phase of the response, Pakistan targeted Indian Rafale jets, grounding the fleet near the western border. “This limited their options and freedom of action,” he added.

On drones being sent into Pakistan, Aurangzeb claimed that India had launched drone attacks on Pakistani civilian areas. However, Pakistan’s radar and jamming systems detected and disabled all drones, making them useless.

While offering details of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said 26 Indian military targets, as well as facilities that were used to target Pakistani citizens and those enterprises that were responsible for fomenting terrorism in Pakistan were engaged in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) and the mainland.

He said Suratgarh, Sirsa, Adampur, Bhuj, Nalia, Bathinda, Barnala, Harwara, Avantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Mamoon, Ambala, Udampur, and Pathankot were the targets, which sustained major damages, adding that the S-400 battery system at Adhampur and Bhuj was also attacked by the proud PAF.

He said the action was carefully calibrated to avoid civilian casualties and exclusively targeted those entities and facilities which were directly involved in orchestrating and executing cold-blooded killings of Pakistani civilians and those carrying out terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.

“Pakistan also sustained an abnormal and immediate spike in Indian-sponsored terrorism across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan while we were busy in operations on the Eastern Front,” DG ISPR Ahmed Sharif said.

Expressing sympathy with the families of the shohada who sacrificed their lives for the beloved country, he prayed for the quick recovery of injured countrymen.

Further expressing profound appreciation and gratitude to the brave Pakistani nation, he said, “We are especially indebted to the youth of Pakistan who became frontline soldiers as information and cyber warriors of the country. Profound thanks are also due to you, the vibrant media of Pakistan, who also stood like a Bunyan-um-Marsoos, an iron wall against Indian media information blitz and fuming, as well as warmongering done by the Indian media. We are extremely grateful to the political leadership of all political parties, without any distinction, for the unified resolve in support of their Armed Forces for the defence of our motherland.”

DG ISPR Ahmed Sharif dismissed the rumours of a Indian female pilot in Pakistan’s custody. “This is all part of fake news and propaganda that has been generated from multiple sources, and it is social media chatter,” he said.

Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz, while addressing the rumours about the Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikrant being headed toward Karachi, said, “We tracked it closely from the start. On May 6-7, it was near Bombay, and by May 9, it came within 400 nautical miles of our coast, then turned back.”

Rab Nawaz explained that if the carrier had come closer, the Pakistan Navy was ready to respond. “Our maritime air arm was fully prepared, and we stayed in contact with the Air Force throughout,” he added.

“As a military officer, I don’t take the enemy lightly, but let’s be realistic. The Vikrant only carries 8-12 MiG-29s, enough for its own defence, not much more.”

  • Daryl Mitchell dismisses Indian media claims about ‘never coming back to Pakistan’

Daryl Mitchell dismisses Indian media claims about ‘never coming back to Pakistan’

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has denied reports from Indian media that he would not return to Pakistan, including for future Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches, calling the claims “inaccurate and misrepresentative.”

The false reports began circulating after PSL 10 was suspended amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Mitchell, who was playing for Lahore Qalandars in this year’s PSL for the first time, was among several foreign players who left Pakistan when the tournament was put on hold.

Clearing the air, Mitchell issued an official statement through his PSL franchise, Lahore Qalandars. He said, “It’s been tough to watch two countries that are so close to my heart in conflict over the past few days. My thoughts are with those affected on both sides.”

He also spoke about how emotional it was to leave the tournament midway, and expressed his affection for both Pakistan and India, where he has played in major cricket leagues.

He said, “Both the PSL and IPL have played major roles in my career, and I’ve always cherished my time in both tournaments. I hope peace prevails, and we can get back to playing the game we love and continue giving back to the amazing people who support us.”

Mitchell made it clear that he has not closed the door on playing in Pakistan again.

“It feels good to be heading home to my family, but I’m also looking forward to returning to both countries in the future, places I truly love spending time in,” he added.

His statement is a welcome sign for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL franchises, who are currently in talks to resume the remaining matches of PSL 10.

  • ‘DO NOT use war for your personal benefit’; Mawra Hocane slams co-star Harshvardhan Rane

‘DO NOT use war for your personal benefit’; Mawra Hocane slams co-star Harshvardhan Rane

Actress Mawra Hocane has responded strongly to her Sanam Teri Kasam co-star Harshvardhan Rane after he publicly stated he would not act in a sequel if the original cast, including her, returned.

He had shared two Instagram stories earlier on Saturday, criticising Hocane’s stance on recent Indian strikes. “While I am grateful for the experience, however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have decided to respectfully decline to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam Part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated,” he wrote.

In response, Mawra posted a detailed statement on her Instagram story, saying, “I don’t know whether to call this unfortunate, sad or comical…someone I expected to have basic common sense has risen from deep slumber with a PR strategy.”

She added that there are far more serious matters happening in the world right now than film cast announcements.

“Look around you, look at what’s going on! We could all hear explosions..children in my country died due to an unjustified cowardly attack, innocent lives are lost and after multiple attempts to still maintain grace and peace, a befitting response by my armed forces have caused a frenzy in your country last night. While our nations are at war, this is what you come up with, a PR statement to get attention? What a pity!”

She also addressed Rane’s claims about her attitude toward their past work.

“I’ve always shown respect, love and gratitude for everyone I’ve worked with and I’ll continue to do so. I was offered to collaborate and I did. I’ll never spew hate like you just did.”

Criticising the timing of Rane’s comments, she said, “Making such announcements at this volatile time, it’s both shameful and bizarre to see you so hungry and desperate. Our countries have been at WAR… two nuclear countries have been at war, this is not the time to discuss films, to mock one another, to bring each other down. Only goes to show your ignorance in such a sensitive situation, I guess it’s not just your news media that’s gone bonkers.”

She continued, “If throwing all the respect away and using my name after nine years is getting you the headlines… you might be surrounded by the wrong team. You just DO NOT use war for your personal benefit. So many lives lost… it’s a grave situation, you’ve fallen from grace for nothing!”

She concluded her message by focusing on what she feels truly matters right now: “My country above everything else! Pakistan Zindabad.”

She added that her prayers are with civilians on both sides and Pakistani soldiers, not with the idea of another film.

Sanam Teri Kasam, released in 2016, recently gained new popularity after its February re-release. Rumours about a sequel started circulating soon after its unexpected success, and both stars had earlier expressed openness to return until now.

  • PSL 10 likely to resume soon in Pakistan

PSL 10 likely to resume soon in Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is making efforts to resume Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

The tournament was abruptly halted with eight matches remaining, amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India. The suspension followed India’s military action against Pakistan in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, which India blamed on Pakistan without providing any evidence.

Now that the situation has eased following a ceasefire agreement on May 10, the PCB is holding key meetings to determine how and where the remaining matches can be held safely.

According to reports, the PCB is considering hosting the rest of the matches in Rawalpindi and Lahore, rather than shifting the tournament to another country. A final decision is expected within the next 48 hours.

The match between Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators, which was originally scheduled to take place in Multan, might also be moved to Rawalpindi or Lahore, depending on safety and travel arrangements.

The PCB is in discussions with all six PSL teams, and the teams are liaising with their foreign players to confirm their availability and willingness to return. Once these matters are finalised, a revised schedule will be shared. If all goes well, the updated match dates could be announced within a week.

Last week, the tournament was paused after a drone crashed near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, raising serious safety concerns. As a result, all foreign players and media staff left Pakistan.

Despite these challenges, the PCB remains hopeful and is working diligently to resume the tournament in a safe manner.

He went on to congratulate both countries on “using common sense and great intelligence”, and added, “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

A spokesperson for India’s External Affairs Ministry also confirmed the same. “Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire,” read an official statement.

It merits a mention that the ceasefire comes as tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours reached an all-time high with multiple cross-border attacks over the past week. World leaders had repeatedly been expressing concern over the situation, calling for restraint and talks between Islamabad and New Delhi.

  • Foreign PSL players leave Pakistan on special aircraft

Foreign PSL players leave Pakistan on special aircraft

Foreign players taking part in the tenth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have left Pakistan due to rising tensions with India.

The players and staff were flown out on a special aircraft arranged by the Pakistan Air Force.

Reports said that the foreign broadcasting crew has also returned to their countries.

Meanwhile, some Indian media outlets claimed that the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) refused to host the remaining PSL matches in Dubai. However, these reports are false.

According to Emirati media, officials from the ECB have not rejected Pakistan’s request to hold the remaining PSL matches in the UAE.

The board confirmed that no such decision had been made and that they had not stopped Pakistan from organizing the games.

On the other hand, PSL 10 has been postponed indefinitely in light of the current national situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday.

According to the official statement from the PCB, the remaining eight matches of the tournament have been postponed. The decision was made after consultation with the Prime Minister, who advised that the nation’s focus should remain on the efforts of the Pakistan Army during this critical time.

The board stated that a new schedule for the remaining matches will be announced later.

Earlier, the PCB had announced plans to shift the remainder of the PSL 10 season from Pakistan to Dubai. However, in view of the developments over the past 24 hours, the league has now been suspended.

‘I’m stuck in Pakistan and it’s peaceful’: American Vlogger Drew Binsky breaks media narrative amid India-Pak tensions

While rising tensions between Pakistan and India have disrupted air operations and halted international travel, American travel vlogger Drew Binsky is offering a very different perspective from the ground.

Sharing a video on Instagram, Binsky revealed he is currently in the northern areas of Pakistan, near Kashmir, a region often highlighted in headlines during times of military strain. “I’m stuck in Pakistan right now due to the conflict with India, and all airports are closed,” he wrote in his caption. “Thanks for all your thoughts and messages I’m doing okay!”

In the video, Binsky can be seen walking through the streets, where rallies in support of Pakistan are taking place. Holding his camera as people march behind him with Pakistani flags, he says, “It’s pretty crazy to be here right now… but I want to let you know that I am safe.”

Despite what he described as “high tension” between the two countries, Binsky paints a contrasting picture of life on the ground in Pakistan. “People here are pretty unbothered by what’s going on. Everyone’s living their life as normal. Shops are open, kids are going to school. Just another day in the life here.”

He also addressed the many concerned messages from his global followers. “I’ve been receiving thousands of text messages and calls. Thank you so much,” he said. “I’m managing to meet people, get some content, and hang out here in the north.”

The video quickly went viral, and Pakistani fans flooded the comments with love, support, and invitations.

One user wrote: “Some more days to enjoy our hospitality ❤”

Another said: “Bro come to Lahore ✊ . Pakistan Zindabad.”

A local even offered to meet him, saying: “You are near my home. Let’s meet up brother ❤. You must visit some amazing places here.”

Binsky’s message concluded with a hopeful note:“Make peace, not war ”
