Three men arrested on charges of gang-raping woman in Lahore

Police in Lahore have arrested three men on suspicions of gang-raping a woman and are conducting raids to find another suspect.

A girl had told the police that the Waseem Akram, Shahzad, Adnan and Arshad had raped her in a house in the city and warned her not to report the rape to the police. Police have arrested the first three while Arshad remains missing.

A spokesperson told an English daily that one of the men had summoned the girl from Sahiwal and taken her to his relative’s house. There, he called his accomplices and later gang-raped the girl.

Police have filed a case against the suspects under section 375A (gang rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code, at Chung police station.

  • Trump admin sent journalist classified US plan for Yemen strikes

Trump admin sent journalist classified US plan for Yemen strikes

A US journalist was inadvertently included in a group chat in which Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Vice President JD Vance and other top officials discussed upcoming strikes against Yemen’s Huthi rebels, the White House confirmed Monday.

President Donald Trump announced the strikes on March 15, but in a shocking security breach, The Atlantic magazine’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg wrote that he had hours of advance notice via the group chat on Signal.

“The message thread that was reported appears to be authentic, and we are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain,” National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said.

The White House said Trump “continues to have the utmost confidence in his national security team,” after the US president earlier said he did not “know anything about” the issue.

Hegseth, a former Fox News host with no experience running a huge organization like the Pentagon, took no responsibility for the security breach as he spoke to reporters late Monday.

He instead attacked Goldberg and insisted that “nobody was texting war plans,” despite the White House confirming the breach.

Goldberg wrote that Hegseth sent information on the strikes, including on “targets, weapons the US would be deploying, and attack sequencing,” to the group chat.

“According to the lengthy Hegseth text, the first detonations in Yemen would be felt two hours hence, at 1:45 pm eastern time,” Goldberg wrote — a timeline that was borne out on the ground in Yemen.

The leak could have been highly damaging if Goldberg had publicized details of the plan in advance, but he did not do so even after the fact.

The journalist said he was added to the group chat two days earlier, and received messages from other top government officials designating representatives who would work on the issue.

On March 14, a person identified as Vance expressed doubts about carrying out the strikes, saying he hated “bailing Europe out again,” as countries there were more affected by Huthi attacks on shipping than the United States.

    ‘Stunning and dangerous’

Group chat contributors identified as National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Hegseth both sent messages arguing only Washington had the capability to carry out the strikes, with the latter official saying he shared Vance’s “loathing of European free-loading. It’s PATHETIC.”

And a person identified as “S M” — possibly Trump advisor Stephen Miller — argued that “if the US successfully restores freedom of navigation at great cost there needs to be some further economic gain extracted in return.”

As he spoke to reporters Monday Hegseth dodged questions about the leak, in which highly sensitive material was not only shared with a reporter but also on a commercial app rather than in secure military channels reserved for such communications.

The security breach provoked outrage among Democrats, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer describing it as “one of the most stunning breaches of military intelligence I have read about in a very, very long time” and calling for a full investigation.

Senator Jack Reed also slammed the leak, saying: “The carelessness shown by President Trump’s cabinet is stunning and dangerous.”

And Hillary Clinton — who was repeatedly attacked by Trump for using a private email server while she was secretary of state — posted the Atlantic article on X along with the message: “You have got to be kidding me.”

    Huthi attacks

The Huthis, who have controlled much of Yemen for more than a decade, are part of the “axis of resistance” of pro-Iran groups staunchly opposed to Israel and the United States.

They have launched scores of drone and missile attacks at ships passing Yemen in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden during the Gaza war, saying they were carried out in solidarity with Palestinians.

The Huthis’ campaign crippled the vital route, which normally carries about 12 percent of world shipping traffic, forcing many companies into a costly detour around the tip of southern Africa.

The US began targeting the Huthis in response under the previous administration of president Joe Biden, and has launched repeated rounds of strikes on Huthi targets, some with British support.

Trump has vowed to “use overwhelming lethal force until we have achieved our objective,” citing the Huthis’ threats against Red Sea shipping, and US strikes have continued over the past 10 days.

The actress also shared a video in which an unidentified person can be heard making threats against her. While the individual’s face is not visible, the audio clip highlights the nature of the threats.

  • Pet dog helps police in solving owner’s murder

Pet dog helps police in solving owner’s murder

A pet dog proved his exceptional loyalty by unearthing its owner Umer Hayat’s body after he had been killed and burned in a garbage dump, a leading English daily has reported.

Residents of a village in Chichawatni observed a pet dog digging away in a burnt garbage dump on February 18. Some time later, the dog unearthed human feet from the rubbish and alerted villagers and a landlord named Nadeem Abbas Shah, who had employed Umer to work at his farm.

Police investigations revealed that Umer’s wife Shamim and her brother Fida Hussain murdered Umer between the nights of February 13 and 14, disfigured his face so that he could not be recognised and then burning his body in a garbage dump, setting it on fire to conceal the killing.

Both the siblings were arrested on Monday.

The police were alerted on February 18 about the presence of human remains by Bilal Nawaz, a resident of the village, who had seen the dog digging up the garbage. Police arrived at the scene and discovered a decomposed and unidentifiable body in the rubbish heap.

Despite an autopsy, the body remained unidentified till police received a tip from the villagers who said Umer Hayat worked at Nadeem Abbas’ farm. There, the police was told that Umer had worked at the farm along with his wife Shamim and four children since two years. He was originally a resident of Multan and was often referred to as Multani.

Nadeem Abbas told the police that Umer had left the job a few days before the body was discovered and shifted back to Khanewal, his wife’s hometown.

Umer’s mother was contacted by the police who admitted that her son was missing but did not identify the feet as belonging to her son. A few days after police questioned them on not reporting Umer’s absence and taking DNA samples, the mother identified the feet.

Further investigations revealed that while Shamim said she left the farm with her husband, she arrived in her village only with her children and her brother Fida Hussain.

Police unearthed evidence that both Shamim and Umer had been having affairs. Shamim finally confessed to the police that Umer had confronted her on the affair and been violent with her. She had then recruited her brother Fida Hussain to kill Umer, disfiguring his face with bricks, and burning his body in the garbage.

Both the brother and sister now await trial.

  • Cop accuses inspector of sexual exploitation after leave request

Cop accuses inspector of sexual exploitation after leave request

A police constable has accused his senior officer of sexually exploiting him after he requested leave, media outlets reported on Monday.

According to reports, the constable later lodged a complaint on the Citizens Portal, alleging that an inspector posted at the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) office in Lahore sexually assaulted him when he approached him for leave.

He reportedly claimed that after turning down his request, the inspector urged him to remain silent, saying, “Such things often happen.” The constable is now calling for legal action against the officer.

This incident comes months after a uniformed policeman was caught raping a woman who had been begging in Lahore’s Manawan area.

When confronted by a citizen named Sajid, who was also filming him, the officer threw a shoe at him before opening fire. The bullet struck Sajid in the leg, and in the video, he can be heard screaming before showing his bleeding leg on camera.

Locals overpowered the officer and handed him over to Manawan police, while Sajid was taken to hospital for treatment.

Despite his injury, Sajid continued to follow the policeman, who attempted to put on his shoes and flee the scene.

Sarfaraz Ahmed calls out cricketers for criticism on TV

Pakistan’s Champions Trophy-winning captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has criticized cricketers who say one thing in person and another on TV.

During a private TV show, the host asked Sarfaraz why he does not appear on television during cricket events, unlike other cricketers. In response, Sarfaraz said, “I watch my seniors when they play, and they say one thing, but when they sit on TV, they say something else.”

Sarfaraz explained that he prefers to stay on the field rather than sit on media panels. “It’s not that I don’t get offers. During the Champions Trophy, I received two or three offers to do analysis, but I declined because I don’t feel like sitting on TV right now.”

He further added, “I don’t like it when our senior cricketers sit on TV and say things they wouldn’t say in person.”

Sarfaraz said, “Look at what some have said recently. These are the same people who sit, eat, and spend time with these players. When they were playing, they said no one is better than these players, but now that they are not playing, they say these players are not good enough.”

The former captain questioned the hypocrisy, saying, “Either you were wrong then, or you are wrong now. Whatever you say, at least maintain balance.”

Sarfaraz also pointed out that most TV analysts have played with each other at some point. “Many of those sitting on TV do not even have great cricketing records themselves. So, they should speak carefully and remember their own era before making statements.”

It is worth mentioning that the Pakistan cricket team faced severe criticism after their early exit from the Champions Trophy 2025.

Pakistan has lost three out of four T20 matches against New Zealand so far in the ongoing tour.
