Ramzan Chhipa saw astonishing scene at Amjad Sabri’s last rites

Renowned social worker Ramzan Chhipa has made a surprising revelation about the final bath of legendary Qawwal Amjad Sabri, who was tragically martyred during the holy month of Ramzan in 2016. His untimely death left the entire nation in mourning.

Amjad Sabri, only 39 at the time, left behind five children and two widows. Thousands of fans attended his funeral while grief and sorrow engulfed his home and neighbourhood.

During a TV programme, Chhipa, the founder of the Chhipa Foundation and known for his humanitarian work in Karachi, shared an extraordinary incident that occurred while preparing Amjad Sabri for burial.

“Whenever I perform the final rites for someone, I notice different things. But when I was giving Amjad Sabri his last bath, I suddenly stepped back in shock—because I saw him smiling. I trembled and immediately called his family, who also witnessed the same and began praying,” he recalled.

He further remarked, “Only God knows the reality of such signs, but we often observe different indications. Some faces show signs of suffering, while others, like Amjad Sabri, leave this world with a smile.”

Following Chhipa’s revelation, social media has been flooded with mixed reactions.

Many users took this as proof of Amjad Sabri’s piety and spiritual purity, emphasising his connection to a Sufi lineage. They expressed that his soul was blessed, which is why he departed with a smile.

  • Moeen Ali dismisses Pakistan’s pacers as ‘best’ in Champions Trophy

Moeen Ali dismisses Pakistan’s pacers as ‘best’ in Champions Trophy

English all-rounder Moeen Ali has refused to acknowledge Pakistan’s current fast bowlers as the “best” following their disappointing performances in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Speaking on a podcast with fellow English cricketer Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali said that people of Pakistani origin often believe their team has the “best seamers,” but he disagrees.

He said, “Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf are good bowlers, but they are not the best. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying they are bad, but they don’t have the qualities that would make them the best.”

Moeen’s comments come at a time when Pakistan’s pacers have been under heavy criticism from former cricketers due to their poor performances in the tournament.

During Pakistan’s two Champions Trophy matches, Shaheen Afridi managed only two wickets in 18 overs, conceding 140 runs at an economy rate of 8. Naseem Shah also took just two wickets in 18 overs, giving away 104 runs. Haris Rauf was Pakistan’s most expensive bowler, taking two wickets in 17 overs while conceding 135 runs at an economy rate of 9.

Pakistan’s pace attack has been heavily scrutinized, and Moeen Ali’s remarks have only fueled the debate on whether they truly deserve to be called the best.

The final episode highlighted the devastating effects of false blasphemy accusations, showing how such claims can lead to violence and the loss of innocent lives. Devastating news for solar users under new policy

Islamabad has officially slashed solar buyback rates by over 60 percent. As per credible reports, the federal government has also eliminated the process of net billing and reduced the buyback rate to a measly 10 rupees per unit.

This decision was taken by officials at a Cabinet meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) to stifle the growth of solar net metering connections. This is because net metering has been proven to cause significant financial strain on the national grid, resulting in higher electricity bills for non-net meter users.

The Power division reported how solar panel owners with net meters are inducing a 9 paisa per unit increase in average electricity costs. While net meter owners are often met with zero or very low electricity bills, the national grid and its users have to collectively bear a cost of 101 billion rupees.

If left unchecked, this financial burden could have ballooned to a staggering 545 billion rupees by 2034. A financial burden of such a magnitude would have resulted in non-net meter users bearing an additional cost of 3.6 rupees per unit. As such, authorities decided to take action before the situation deteriorated any further.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presided over the ECC meeting during which power companies were directed to sell grid electricity at 42 rupees per unit while charging 48 rupees per unit for ‘peak’ electricity. These prices are exclusive of duties and taxes and vary as per consumption.

However, reports have revealed that the policy is applicable only to new net-metering users. Moreover, new users will not be allowed to install solar capacity in excess of their approved usage. Previously, users were allowed to install solar capacity that exceeded their approved load by 50 percent, but this rate has now been revised downward to just 10 percent.

Users who already have net meters may not feel the impact of the policy change immediately, as reports claim that they will fall under this framework only when their seven-year contracts end. However, many believe that net-meter users have been handed the short end of the stick.

A senior official reportedly outlined how, after taxes and duties, net meter users will be forced to purchase electricity at an extortionate 70 rupees per unit during peak hours – a stark contrast with the new buyback rate of 10 rupees per unit. Another alternative that analysts have highlighted for net meter owners is to purchase high-capacity batteries and sever ties with the national grid.

Currently, taxes have not been levied on off-grid solar installations. However, many fear that it is only a matter of time before these installations are in the crosshairs of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

  • Imran Khan likely to be presented at Islamabad High Court today

Imran Khan likely to be presented at Islamabad High Court today

An important development has taken place in the case regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Special Assistant to the KP Chief Minister, Mashal Yousafzai, regarding her alleged obstruction of a meeting with former premier Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.

As per details, the Islamabad High Court summoned the Superintendent of Adiala Jail at noon on Friday (today). Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan, while issuing the order, directed the Jail Superintendent to meet the PTI founder in jail to confirm whether Yousafzai is his legal counsel, adding that the Superintendent must then report back to the court.

He ordered, “If the court is not satisfied with the statement of the Jail Superintendent, then produce Imran Khan in court at 3 pm.” He further instructed the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad to make arrangements for Imran Khan’s court appearance.

Meanwhile, PTI leaders have written to the jail superintendent over being denied permission to meet Imran Khan, calling it contempt of court, according to media reports.

This comes as, on Thursday, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan, Sunni Ittehad Council Chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Opposition Leader in the Senate Shibli Faraz, Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, former MNA Colonel (retd) Amirullah Marwat, PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar, and Advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry arrived at Adiala Jail to meet Imran Khan but were denied permission.

In the request submitted, former ruling party leaders stated that the authorities were violating the orders of the IHC, which amounted to contempt of court. “We were present at Gate No. 5 since 2 PM. The founder has repeatedly requested the meeting, and the list of visitors was also submitted to the jail authorities as per SOPs, but despite that, we were not allowed to meet him,” the letter stated.

The letter further claimed that the authorities were violating Khan’s fundamental rights by preventing the meeting.

It was signed by Omar Ayub Khan, Shibli Faraz, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Junaid Akbar, and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, while the text was written by PTI founder’s lawyer, Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry.

The letter also reaffirmed that the Islamabad High Court had been assured multiple times that PTI leaders would be allowed to meet the party founder.

Adnan Siddiqui’s forgotten wedding performance: A mystery wrapped in harmonium notes

Renowned actor Adnan Siddiqui recently shared a hilarious memory—or rather, the lack of one—on social media. Posting a picture of himself confidently playing the harmonium at a wedding, he admitted that he had no idea whose wedding it was.

Adnan wrote, “Here I am at a wedding, confidently playing the harmonium like I was born for it. The only problem? I have no memory of whose wedding it was.”

The actor appears deeply engrossed in his performance. Sitting beside him is his Anwar Masood, or Anwar Mamu as Adnan refers to him, equally serious—or equally lost—about the occasion. “Were we close to the couple? Did we just end up near the harmonium and decide to join in? No idea,” Adnan wrote.

Despite the mystery surrounding the event, one thing is clear: Adnan was fully committed to his harmonium moment. “Maybe I set the mood for an unforgettable evening. Maybe I created just enough chaos to be politely ignored. Either way, I was committed,” he added.

Fans were left in stitches over his humorous take, with many joking that perhaps the wedding was more memorable for those who attended it.

Whether he stole the show or simply blended into the background, Adnan Siddiqui’s forgotten wedding performance proves one thing—confidence is key, even when you have no clue what’s going on.

  • JIT head of May 9 cases resigns from police

JIT head of May 9 cases resigns from police

Head of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing May 9 cases and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Admin Lahore, Imran Kishwar, has tendered his resignation from the Police Services of Pakistan (PSP) on Thursday.

In his resignation letter circulating online, the grade 19 police officer addressed the Inspector General (IG) to describe that his conscience has been weighed down by the stark realities of service.

Kishwar wrote: “I have upheld my oath with unyielding resolve, often at great personal cost, which has left me grappling with many unanswered questions, creating the unsettling internal dissonance”.

As the former head of the Lahore Organised Crime Unit (OCU), Kishwar held several important positions, including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Lahore and DIG Investigation Lahore, as well as commanding roles in Kasur, Sheikhupura, Narowal, and Muzaffargarh.

“I find myself at a crossroads where my continued service is neither feasible nor desirable. The reasons, though mine alone, are potent enough to sever the bond I once held sacred,” says the resignation.

Hinting at feeling unappreciated and betrayed, he explained, “Loyalty, when met with indifference or betrayal, ceases to be an obligation.”

The outgoing DIG announced his decision to transition from law enforcement services to writing. Kishwar said, “Having devoted the best years of my life to enforcing the law, I now choose to embrace a long-subdued calling-one that wields the power of words over weapons of ink over insignia.”

He emphasised that his passion for writing now demands its due, and he shall surrender to it with the same conviction he once dedicated to this uniform.

Kishwar concluded by saying in his resignation, “With a mind unchanged and a heart unburdened. I close this chapter. Let it be recorded that I served with honour; I shall not serve in silence,” stressing that his resignation must be accepted.

Meanwhile, sources told The Current that Kishwar’s resignation from PSP was yet to be formally processed, given that high-ranking officers cannot resign through social media.
