    Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur’s recent statement of answering a bullet with a bullet has been met with criticism, including former Senator Faisal Vawda who has said, “Gandapur kay baal katnay ka waqt agya hai.”

    Appearing on the ARY News programme OFF THE RECORD, Vawda said, “Courts ko Ali Amin Gandapur kay controversial bayanat par intervene karna chahiye thaa. (Courts should have intervened on his controversial statements.)”

    Lambasting the controversial conduct of former judges of Pakistan, he said, “It’s not the job of the judges to regulate vegetable prices and to demolish Nasla Tower.”

    “The impression that the division among Supreme Court judges benefitting the PTI is also incorrect,” Vawda added.

    In the same show, former Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar maintained that CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur’s statement regarding the direct talk of the KP province with the Afghanistan government was baseless.

    Responding to the proposed constitutional amendments regarding the formation of the Federal Constitution Court (FCC), he emphasised the need for reforms in session courts, as the majority of cases are pending in lower courts.

    Gandapur clarifies ‘barat and dhol’ comment at Islamabad rally ‘meant nothing’

    Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has stated that his controversial Islamabad rally speech on September 8 was taken “out of context” and misinterpreted.

    Speaking to a delegation of Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said that the “color being given to my speech on social media is not correct in Islam and Shariat, I will tell my supporters to avoid immorality in social media posts.”

    On September 8, Gandapur gave a controversial speech targeting journalists and CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz, saying, “We will go to Lahore with Barat and music.”

    He further said, “Media is the fourth pillar of the state with significant responsibilities. I will always take media’s criticism in a positive way and reform.”

    The CM KP also said that the armed forces and police are making daily sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

    An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur over a Federal Judicial Complex vandalism case.

    ATC judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, while turning down CM’s bail petition, stated that bail can not be given every time without a justified reason.

    The defendant’s lawyer informed the judge that the court should grant “one (more) chance,” assuring that “Ali Amin will [definitely] appear before the court.”

    Upon this, Judge Sipra reminded the lawyer that previously, a date for a hearing was fixed according to Gandapur’s availability, but he never showed up.

    ATC later adjourned the hearing of the case till October 3.

    ATC court also issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for former Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Aamer Mehmood Kiani and PTI leader Raja Rashid Hafeez in a Federal Judicial Complex vandalising case.

    On March 18, 2023, PTI workers allegedly pelted stones at the authorities inside the premises of the Federal Judicial Complex during founder PTI Imran Khan’s hearing in court.

    Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, led by Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur, has decided to file a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the federal government’s proposed constitutional amendments.

    In a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Ali Amin Gandapur, cabinet members stressed that parliament is incomplete as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has not yet received its reserved seats.

    “Federal government doesn’t have the authority of constitutional amendments,” cabinet members added.

    The KP cabinet meeting also approved a grant of thirty million rupees for the Lahore High Court Bar Association, and by relaxing the ban on vehicle purchases, the cabinet also approved ninety lac rupees for High Court judges.

    Earlier, the federal government announced the twenty-sixth constitutional amendment, which reads that the eight-member National Assembly Committee will send the names of top senior judges to the Prime Minister (PM) for the position of Chief Justice (CJ) of the Federal Constitutional Court. The committee will then choose one CJ out of three recommended names, ruling out the scenario of the most senior judge as CJ.

    Chief Minister (CM) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur has announced the removal of several checkpoints across the province.

    Citing the convenience of the people, he stated that the KP government intends to demolish the majority of check posts and urges the public to cooperate in maintaining law and order.

    He also clarified that the government plans to reinstate the elder jirga system in KP after reaching a consensus at district-level meetings.

    In response to Afghan Acting Consul General Muhib Ullah Shakil and his aide’s refusal to stand for Pakistan’s national anthem at the Peshawar conference, Gandapur stated, “It is their policy not to stand before any anthem that includes music.”

    However, Afghan Consulate Peshawar spokesperson Shahid Ullah clarified, “The Consul General did not stand due to the music in the anthem. We have even banned our own national anthem for the same reason.”

    Pakistani social media slammed Afghan Acting Consul General Muhib Ullah Shakil and his aide after they refused to stand up for Pakistan’s national anthem, defying diplomatic norms, at the National Rehmat-ul-Lil-Aalamin (PBUH) Conference in Peshawar on September 17.

    Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch criticised Afghan diplomats, saying, “The disrespect of the host country’s national anthem is against diplomatic norms.”

    Pakistan also lodged a strong protest with Afghan authorities yesterday over the actions of Afghanistan’s acting consul general in Peshawar towards the national anthem.

    In a short clip has since gone viral on the internet, everyone, including CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur and other officials, can be seen standing up for the national anthem except the two Afghan gentlemen who deliberately refuse to stand up as a sign of respect.

    Relations between both countries have deteriorated ever since the rise of terrorist activities in Pakistan, for which it blames neighbouring Afghanistan.

    Some netizens asked whether the Afghan diplomats would do the same if they were invited by China or Iran, while others criticised the KP government for inviting the Afghan diplomats.

    Journalist Ihsanullah Tipu Mehsud wrote on X, “I have said this repeatedly; the Taliban Government functions differently from other traditional political and diplomatic entities, driven fundamentally by an ideology that shapes its state affairs, including both politics and diplomacy. Whether one likes it or not, this is the new normal.”

    Former Minster Shireen Mazari also took to X to write, “Rubbish. They are bound by diplomatic norms to stand up for the national anthem. There is simply no justification & these men should be expelled ASAP. & frankly, CM KP should apologise to the ppl for letting this insult to the nation happen on his watch.”

    One social media user wondered how CM KP Gandapur often issues threats to fellow politicians and leaders but remained quiet in front of the Afghan Taliban guests who openly disrespected the nation.

    Prime Minister Advisor for Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has confirmed that the government held informal talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the proposed constitutional amendments draft.

    Appearing on the Geo News programme ‘Geo Pakistan’, the PM’s Advisor remarked that the PTI leadership also envisaged that amendments would bring better results.

    He said, “The agreed amendments can be approved in the first week of October,” while the rest will be passed after securing a one-third majority in parliament.

    Responding to the formation of the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC), Sanaullah said, “Apex court judges are disturbed” by the number of pending cases. FCC will hear cases regarding constitutional petitions,” which would significantly elevate the judiciary’s burden.

    Meanwhile, Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur said that approval of proposed amendments is a far distinct thing; they (the government) wouldn’t even dare to present it in parliament.

    He said, “These amendments are an attack on Pakistan’s democracy, and PTI won’t let them win.”

    Chief Minister (CM) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur apologised for his controversial remarks during the Sangjani power show after meeting with intelligence agency officers in Islamabad, veteran journalist Azaz Syed has claimed.

    Speaking on ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath,’ Azaz Syed disclosed that intelligence officers showed concerns over Gandapur’s speech, upon which he apologised instantly.

    Syed ruled out rumours of Gandapur’s arrest, saying that the CM received a call from an intelligence officer to meet in a Constitutional Evenue intelligence office.

    Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur has reached Peshawar despite speculation of his arrest in Islamabad.

    Yesterday, Information Advisor KP Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif claimed that Gandapur disappeared after the power show rally at Sangjani, and his phone number was switched off.

    “Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is in Islamabad, not Peshawar, but we have no information on his whereabouts,” he claimed yesterday.

    Opposition leader in the National Assembly (NA) Omar Ayub Khan said that the federal government and establishment invited Gandapur for a cup of tea to discuss security concerns in KP, adding that they could not reach out to the security staff via mobile phone.

    On the other hand, Zulfi Bukhari claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that CM KP Gandapur had been arrested/abducted.

    Upon CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur’s arrival in Peshawar, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Shahid Khattak clarified that Gandapur was busy in various meetings in Islamabad, rejecting the rumours of disappearance.

    On September 9, Islamabad police launched a crackdown against PTI leadership for violating the new public order law. They arrested prominent figures, including Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Sher Afzal Marwat.

    Today, PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan criticised the incumbent government in the National Assembly on the arrest of PTI lawmakers.

    Posing a question, he said, “Today, I am making a case on democracy. What happened to democracy and to this parliament last night? We are not in Israel; we are in Pakistan.”

    Defence Minister Khawaja Asif hit back at Khan, saying, “If you say ‘No founder PTI Imran Khan, no Pakistan’, what will be the reaction?”

    “CM KP Gandapur, bring an army of Pashtuns and attack Punjab,” he added.

    Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur gave a hard-hitting, controversial speech at the September 8 party rally, even threatening Defence Minister Khawaja Asif by remarking, “Not even your father can do a military trial of Khan!”

    “Those whom you [Khawaja Asif] consider your father, they cannot do it [military trial of Khan] as well. He [Khawaja Asif] says that Gen Faiz contacted us after retirement. Did we get Gen Faiz in dowry or inheritance? He was your father…your general… fix your institutions and generals,” exclaimed the KP CM.

    Journalist Muneeb Farooq, speaking on the Geo News programme last night, revealed the military establishment’s perspective on the KP CM’s speech, saying, “Whatever they’ve said in the rally, the military reply is this: whatever is ‘inevitable’, PTI is pushing it at jet speed.”

    Farooq also quoted a high-level official regarding the stark difference between Gandapur’s speech at the rally and his soft-spoken attitude during meetings with the military establishment.

    “Ali Amin Gandapur may not stay in his post for long for many reasons,” predicted Muneeb Farooq.

    Furthermore, Ali Amin Gandapur also vowed that if Imran Khan is not released within two weeks, the party would “set him free” themselves.
